oh god, you’re making me choose! I’m going to have to go with Sybella Grimaldi, my prim and proper princess at Clearbrook RP. It’s been a few years but would love to revive her at some point. She’s a ray of pure fucking sunshine. A little ditzy, but the sweetest faery you’ll ever meet. She’s naive about a lot of common-sense things but is book-smart and very emotionally intelligent. Writing her just came very naturally to me, muse was never a problem. Also, I miss her romantic and platonic ships with Hunter (Hannah) and Robb so much ( @loeswrites ) <3

B A C K G R O U N D

Cassandra was born in 1992 to Pascal Laurent and Adrienne Favreau, after he met and married his wife, Giselle. They had one child already, Quentin, who was training and using his firebending gifts. The Laurents at first wanted to welcome the baby girl who had piercing green eyes and deep chestnut hair. She displayed all the Laurent features. Pascal had intended on marrying Cassandra’s mother and divorcing his current wife as the two were having problems, but as soon as they found out that the little girl was an earthbender, they knew that no one could know about the impurity in their family.

Pascal left Adrienne at the drop of a hat and the family gave her a fair amount of money for her to keep quiet. He had hoped to be able to keep his little girl, but Jacqueline, his mother and Christina’s grandmother, advised against it since she was an earthbender and the Laurents had a reputation of being a pure line of firebenders. Later on, Pascal and Giselle resolved their issues and had four more children, completely forgetting about Cassandra and her mother. Adrienne never married another man and simply lived as a single mother who barely took care of her daughter, sending her away to boarding schools thanks to the hush money the Laurents gave them.

At the boarding schools Cassandra attended, she began to use the money her father had given her to spend it on parties, drugs, and alcohol. Cassandra became a wild child, seeing opportunities left and right, especially with the money she received. She had no control and very little training and exposure with her abilities. She knew she was an earthbender, but never put the skills to use. Cassandra was bound to be dead before she was twenty two. Ultimately, she had to change her ways when one of her friends ended up dead at a party she threw and all fingers were pointed at her. One of her other friends was the real culprit, but she took the fall. She didn’t know why, but she had gaps in her memory and she figured it didn’t matter if she left the school. She always felt like she wasn’t going anywhere anyways. Cassandra was expelled and eventually contacted by her father who tried to convince her to change her ways.

Feeling lost and abandoned, Cassandra couldn’t bring herself to listen to him. All he did was remind her that she wasn’t a true Laurent. Cassandra has never met her cousins or half-siblings, or at least they hardly ever remember her. She was just some outsider, an impostor who was using this cash to get high and party. But, after the whole incident, Cassandra started slowly training and practicing her earthbending skills thanks to lessons her mother paid for. The young woman soon found out she was a lavabender, but she never quite learned how to use her new abilities. As her mother was not a lavabender and she could never find a lavabending teacher, Cassandra was forced to turn to her father and his family. They took her in to train her, but kept her a secret from the rest of the world as she would still ruin their reputation. Despite this, she took the Laurent name, finally feeling like maybe she was a part of a real family.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Cassandra is different from the other Laurents. Without any proper guidance, nearly unlimited money, and a neglectful mother, she grew up a wild child. She never said no to any kind of dare or task. She always went for it head on and never thought of the consequences. Cassandra became reckless at a young age having started drinking, smoking, and trying recreational drugs at boarding school. She had never been quite book smart, but she’s crafty and devious as hell. She’s loud, mischievous, crafty, boastful, playful, and alive. She likes that feeling of being high and invincible because it takes her away from the problems of reality.

She’s incredibly loyal to the people close to her and sometimes she seems to be loyal to people who aren’t as close to her. Sometimes she’ll just leave it alone, but there have been times where she’s dealt with the blows, even if someone else betrays her. That’s because Cassandra often times feels like she doesn’t belong anywhere. She feels like an outsider wherever she goes. It’s not that she doesn’t want to fight people who tell her no or that she’s not one of them. She would want to since she has that fire. But, if she does anything for anyone, maybe she’ll have a place. Or if it ends badly, no one will really care that she’s gone. In a way, Cassandra can be very sad and lonely, but doesn’t let people see that side of her. She figures that if no one knows, then the problems will eventually fix themselves. 

Cassandra is a free spirit and completely shameless about....well....everything. She is very open about things, but does it in such a way that she never actually reveals anything about herself. She constantly makes jokes and is open about her sexuality, but you never really know anything about her love life. She always talks about her family, mainly the Laurents, but she crafts her stories in a way that you never actually get around to asking her how much she really knows or how she feels about them. She can talk and talk about partying, dancing, drinking, smoking, and raising hell, but you’ll never know why she did it. You’ll never know about her past because she keeps it locked up. Cassandra often times finds herself locked up and frozen in place, unsure of where to go or what to do.

THE REVIEWED RP CAN BE FOUND X

The theme here is giving me so many 2013, old school rp feels but then it’s got a snazzy background image which links to the now. I like it. I mean, generally I’m not the biggest fan of these types of themes but the header and background images are gorgeous. The post format and sidebar aren’t the best of the bunch, though. As soon as I began to read your plot I held in an irritated sigh and thought to myself ‘not another supernatural academy.’ But as I kept reading I was drawn in by that twist. I kind of love it? You have some grammatical errors so give it a quick reread, but I find it rad that the supernatural and the anti-supernatural academy’s are near each other and have this rivalry. Your character graphics are cute. I don’t find it necessary to have the whole url in them, it sort of ruins them, in all honesty and people know it’s part of Clearbrook Academy by your actual URL at the top of a post and the massive Clearbrook Academy written on there. Your FCs are nice and diverse but I feel like the bios are a bit too long? You could probably cut off at least two paragraphs (a lot of rpers are lazy, that’s why they sit on tumblr all day). Seiko’s bio felt like a good length. They’re incredibly detailed and there are a heap of them, though, so bravo. However I couldn’t see myself joining and I can't bring myself to rec it, purely out of personal opinion. I feel supernatural rps are too complicated and this could become very complicated with the assorted schools and different species. You admins seem organized though, so good luck!

In case anyone sees this, I just wanted to let everyone know that the staff at Clearbrook RP decided to kick me out of their RP due to my health and internet issues, both things I could not control. I was hospitalized and they said that didn't matter. It's pretty irritating and I thought people should know what happened.
