im not saying clc didnt deserve better, bc they did, but im watching the hobgoblin mv and more than half of this group had 0 camera presence.....then again so does twice (no shade i think even the charismaless twice girlies have a sincerity and charm that make up for the fact that they literally are dead behind the eyes on stage) and blackpink (shade) and they got to thrive so why not clc? why not clc??????

I love my long run (4-mile/6.4k) run days on Mondays and Thursdays ❤️ I just love getting good music on and locking in my focus to my music and pace and breathing. It feels like scrubbing my brain clean, it's like a moving meditation.

really fascinated by whatever the kpop title track selection process is behind company doors and how the timing and presentation of a release can make or break public perception of it, even if it's a good song.

a well-timed ambitious release gets you a lotttt of credit, even with casual listeners (aespa supernova + gfriend apple)

but!

something completely off the wall with no musical predecessor can result in ppl feeling they've had the rug pulled out from under them (clc with both hobgoblin AND where are you)

sometimes the 2.0 version of a previous title track is necessary to cement a group's popularity (exid ah yeah after up and down)

but!

sticking to your guns runs the risk of people getting overtired of your concept and sound (momoland's whole career post bboom boom)

also so interesting that groups will cycle through multiple of these situations throughout their career. i think it's really about balancing a strong group identity, the interests of the immediate fanbase and an awareness of current trends but thats insanely difficult to do well and there's little to no way to accurately predict what will and won't be received in a positive light

to get back on your "why not CLC?!" of it all (yes this is late as hell) but CLC really had the potential and they were consistently cranking out bangers once they dropped the cute concept. but the Devil (Sorn) was working against them

i remember when hobgoblin dropped and i watched the mv and just nodded to myself bc i was sooooooooo sure there was no direction but UP for them and to this day i can't quite believe that it didn't..........i guess that's what happens when the person that's antiblack isn't the 'rapper' bc i swear if yeeun had said the n word they would've been doing g-idle numbers 😭
