con, day two

RABBIT PRINCE SPOTTED. with a huge friggin group of fire emblem cosplayers; there was even an olivia. they were relaxing so i didn’t want to ask them all to pose, so only got picture of yarne. also saw panne on our way back from lunch!

people recognized costume! this is a first. (there was one dude who took like five minutes of his friend poking at him to realize, it was pretty hilarious watching his friend’s exasperation) i managed a costume last year, but it was from a book. and not a wildly popular one. and pretty much was an excuse to do hair

i kind of want to wear minamimoto cosplay everywhere

there was one creeper dude, which was kind of a mood drag even after interaction was over.

totoro costume mostly fits bratling. it’s. uh. a bit tight in places. and instead of closures there were safety pins. still pretty dang cute.

somehow i made lower back strap on akatsuki costume way too short, but everything else fit pretty well. we forgot to get pictures, and friend isn’t going tomorrow, so next week or something i’m going to lengthen it, sew it back on, and make her dress up to take pictures. still super happy with sword.

calligraphy people recognized me again this year! tomorrow i am going to get face painted, because it’s easier to spin bullshit excuse for bon to have kanji face paint than minamimoto.

technically i didn’t need to wear fangs for minamimoto; while his teeth are perhaps a bit sharper than usual, they are certainly not as long as my fangs. HOWEVER, the true question is are they stylistically appropriate to the character, and the resounding hell yes of the answer made them easy to justify.

i think i accidentally shut down a dude trying to flirt with me yesterday way harder than i meant to because i didn’t realize it was my turn to continue the conversation in time after his initial topic fizzled. alternately, he merely meant to strike up friendly conversation by not recognizing mabari from games he had played. and then when i told him where she was from saying that they didn’t look like that in the games, and oh my god dude, do you not understand stylization and adorable, look at my precious puppy of war. and, alright, she is much brighter than the game (origins is brown and da2 doesn’t have kaddis to equip), but the shape is pretty distinctive. (he was unfortunate enough to pick a topic that i was enthusiastic about but he was not, and i was a bit resentful that he didn’t seem to care about the thing when he was the one who asked about it in the first place. and then while i was vaguely considering other possible conversation starters the silence hit long enough for him to feel awkward without me realizing)

man, there are so many fewer social interactions with strangers when i’m with friends. attempted flirt dude from friday, the friendly shopkeep (like, introductions and everything), and creeper dude all happened when friends were elsewhere. and only creeper dude was actually a bad interaction, but still. too many uncertainties. (was that guy flirting? was the shopkeeper flirting? were there signals i missed that could have given me a clue? i hope i didn’t make the dude on friday feel bad, because he was doing ‘strike up conversation without being creepy’ right. was just walking away from creeper dude the right thing to do? should i have told convention staff? if he were making physical advances i definitely would have, right? did anyone else have a bad experience because i did not take further action?) bah. what a friggin hassle. (like, the masquerade ball is kind of the same thing, but i am prepared for that and in the mindset for that and also usually initiating, so i have a little more control over the situation)

found hair stick with scale mail flowers! it is super cute, and also exactly what i have been looking for. also she does them in custom color combinations, so i got pink and blue and purple to match hair plans.

watching log horizon episode this morning did not in fact happen, because i forgot to calculate hair and breakfast into morning planning. so, uh. we’re still an episode behind.

noragami cosplayer! sign said something about a second season? i’m not sure whether i care or not. like, i liked the anime, but then i found the manga and read that too, and the manga is more consistent in mechanics. well, this way i get to watch animated yato even more, so.

found artist with so much adorable fire emblem stuff, but i’ll ramble about it when i reblog ALL THE ART from them once i reinstall skype and get links i had friend send me. which will probably be tomorrow or monday, but. well.

tomorrow i only have the pockets i can smuggle under a sweater vest and i hate carrying unnecessary bags, so no ds to streetpass people with. originally friend was going to carry it for me, but she is not coming after all, so.

mabari booth had grey warden scarf wrapped around a hug size edition mabari plushie and it was so cute.

friend said she saw iguanamouth’s costume on escalator; hope i see them tomorrow.

NATSUME YUUJINCHOU COSPLAY! AND IT WAS THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTFIT TO CHOOSE.

man, i wanna wear minamimoto cosplay again. but i already have another one for tomorrow, so i’m gonna wear that one. next year, at least one day will be minamimoto. he’s gonna be, like, my permanent backup costume.
