Having to take a moment cause I think I've finally figured out just why Warriors gave Impa the master sword and hylian shield beyond just wanting to give her a head start.

He knew that they both couldn't escape, Warriors knew that something was going to have to give for Impa to be able to get out alive, and Warriors told himself that he was the lesser sacrifice compared to her.

Warriors willingly gave the master sword to Impa so she could fight back and be able to escape to Zelda and Lana. But, not only that, he didn't want Cia to get her hands on the master sword and he willingly gave her the shield because he knew he wouldn't be needing it. Warriors confronted Cia fully believing that she was going to kill him and that with him gone- perhaps the beginning of the end of the war would begin. If she truly had started all of this because of him... perhaps he was the critical piece, with him gone... surely everything would fall into place, right?

Only he made the mistake of believing that the sole responsibility of everything was on his shoulders! But he was wrong! Cia also had her own issues with the goddesses and Hylia herself, as well as her thousands of years of resentment, loneliness, and agony. Warriors planned on making the ultimate sacrifice when in reality... Cia was never going to let him die, she had plans that she would make sure he would stay for. No matter how much the triforce of courage demanded for him to sacrifice everything, he would stay.

And he would learn that death was indeed kinder.
