I've got over 35,000 words, spread across several documents, including published fics and WIPs, various drafts and completed scenes, but not including the drafts and scenes handwritten in a notebook. I do like to outline or full-out write my fics in a notebook.

19. any new fics to start next year

Aaaaa, so manyyy! Wow! Okay, so I want to write a series of one-shots depicting scenes from Bartlet history (college, Kennedy-style wedding, or that time Jed accidentally ran over their next-door neigbors). There's another short, winter/holiday fic that I just might end up finishing before the New Years and a 5+1 things fic I've talked about on discord. (I have no self-control). I've also been working on my "What Was Abbey Bartlet Doing" fic which is basically a collection of standalone post-eps, so I'm going to continue working on that one as well.

22. events you participated in this year

This summer, I participated in TWW Press' Wheel of Destiny Drabble Challenge and I wrote two ficlets. One is a little bit of self-indulgent fluff, the other's a post-ep which started the whole Abbeyverse fic madness. I'm finishing my fic for TBW holiday fic exchange and I'm having so much fun!

This year actually was not all bad for me in the slightest (there were a lot of lovely things) but uh, it’s been A Lot A Lot. Especially this last bit. Please note I have been trying to catch up on classic or well known films I've missed over the years and this is what I watched in 2024. Clue and My Cousin Vinny were both hysterical. The Shop Around the Corner was both sweet AND funny at the same time, and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the first two Alien movies albeit for different reasons (Sigourney Weaver is such a bad ass). If you have any classic or pop culture film recs for me to watch in 2025, let me know! My Dinner with Andre and Meet Me in St. Louis are currently on my to be watched list.

LAST SONG? "Into the Storm" by BANNERS. It's on my book-writing playlist, which I haven't been listening to as much lately, but it was nice to go back and listen to some of my staples today.

FAVORITE COLOR? Maroon/burgundy but also just like...fall. A fall palette.

CURRENTLY WATCHING? As my dinner show, White Collar, and I've finally made it into the seasons I've never seen before (three onward). But I've also been watching The Gift on Netflix entirely in Turkish to practice. I've been learning Turkish for a little less than a year now and I understand maaaaaaybe 10% of what they're saying? on a good day? but it's making the mystery elements very compelling lol

LAST MOVIE? Panther Panchali for my movie club. It's an Indian slice of life drama from the 1950s that was slow but weirdly compelling. Also kinda heartbreaking. I think I'll be feeling this one for a while.

SWEET/SPICY/SAVORY? Sweet, no savory, no sweet, no savory, no sweet no--just order eggs and pancakes goddamn it. (my inner monologue every time I go out to breakfast)

RELATIONSHIP STATUS? Uninterested

CURRENT OBSESSIONS? Been running low on obsessions lately. Been into X-Men '97 in the short term and, as always, National Treasure and Atlantis the Lost Empire. And happy 55th anniversary to one of my og obsessions, Scooby Doo.

the west wing post-canon wedding: CJ and Danny try and make it work after CJ decides to stay in the WH, can't make it work, break up... all of which is backstory to the two of them reuniting at Charlie and Zoey's wedding a few months later... and going from there

the "BJ accidentally follows Hawkeye to a gay meet up, learns some things" WIP that I have been agonizing over.

the valentine's day tww discord prompt fulfillment (I know I'm not in the discord but humour me, i did the christmas exchange) that starts during "Manchester".

the prompt fulfillment for the Josh/Donna Rom-Com exchange in which I Romcomify "Inauguration: Over There" (I have words written for it, but not many. that was a busy week lol.)

President!CJ - you know the drill. I keep calling it president!CJ but the actual name should be "CJ runs for President and Ally rambles her ass off trying to make it happen". Anyone looking for a full time volunteer job as my research assistant to make this story happy, apply within.

The Requiem First Time Smut - it's six thousand words long and contains only one orgasm so far. aka the wednesday night where CJ shows up and they 'don't reallly talk' (except nobody is naked yet because they can't stop fucking talking!)

Random WIPs that can't even be considered in the same realm as active, yes i'm as annoyed about it as everyone else.

tww plane crash au - on the way back from a summit in Japan, AF1 crashes on a small island in the South Pacific. This project is my baby but alas. Featuring bioluminescence, sex cabanas and copious amounts of Repentance.

sperm donor AU - canon divergent in s5 of tww, after slow news day et al, where CJ starts seriously thinking about her life post-administration... and having a kid. Coincidentally, Danny comes back into her life around the same time.

mash triad ski au - BJ and Peg go on vacation over Christmas of 1998, and meet another skiier when they all get trapped on a chair lift together 😉

triad wedding - I include this on every list (sigh) just because a whole draft exists, it just needs to be burned to the ground, chopped up with a machete and started from scratch and I burned out hard wriitng draft one. Anyway, final part of the first "arc" of Home verse. BJ, Peg and Hawkeye get 'married'.

Ambassador Spock - genuinely don't think I've touched this since 2021 but. Kirk is still captain of the Enterprise, charged with bringing the Vulcan ambassadors (Sarek and his son Spock) to a summit, "Journey to Babel" style only with more Spirk.

The First Lady - my ongoing project, a series of post-eps and behind the scenes, which answers the most important question of them all: what was Abbey Bartlet doing during the episodes she doesn't appear in. The chapter I'm working on at the moment is a post-ep for "Evidence of Things Not Seen", part 1. Contains a lot of banter.

Substance of Things Hoped for - post-ep for "Evidence of Things Not Seen", part 2. Contains a lot of barbecuing.

Day Four - what happens between Abbey's return and the state dinner in season 5, ep. "Shutdown". Features the First Lady dressing a nice bird, Millicent Griffith as the voice of reason and a lot of Angst.

The Proposal - exactly what it says on the tin. Features a Ferris wheel, a beaver plushy and the phrase "hens etc."

Level 2: Outlines + a Scene or Two

The Hospital Scene - A deleted/missing scene from "In the Shadow of Two Gunmen". Feature a lot of cuteness and too many references to Ronald Reagan.

It Never Could Have Happened in New Hampshire - Jed and Abbey spend the weekend at her parents'. Features a malpractice suit, golf, Vermont maple syrup, Abbey's ex-boyfriend and an MS episode.

Level 3: Just an Idea or WIP's I'm Not Actively Working on

Jethro the Snowman - a holiday fic. Inspired by Jed's quote from season 7 that Abbey's dad took him on a six-hour hike in the dead of winter after he proposed to Abbey.

Abu el Banat post ep - a sequel to Day Four.

The First Meeting - exactly what is says on the tin. Features a lot of gratuitous nerdiness.

The Dead Irish Writers Missing Scene - not sure when I'll finish this one, so far I have only two scenes and one of them needs rewriting.

Ok well since everyone else is in their feels tonight, I just want to say a giant THANK YOU to everyone here for welcoming me into this weird, wonderful little community in the last year and a half. I was a little island loving Taylor’s music on my own for years, and Eras is what pushed me to dip my toes into the fandom spaces instead of just lurking, and I’ve met some of the kindest, most generous, funniest people on here I’ve come to call friends. I’ve loved seeing things you write and make and create. I’ve loved using the tour as an excuse to travel, and it gave me the opportunity to reunite in person with a dear friend I hadn’t seen in years (this is for you you know who you are I love you *cough @claudiajcregg cough*) and have an absolute blast in my favorite city in the world.

I’m so grateful for all this wonderful art Taylor has given us, I’m grateful for the safe space Eras was for fans around the world, I’m grateful for the conversations it’s started and the growth it’s fostered and the changes it’s making as we speak.

It was just a real damn blast, y’all. Whether it was from a grainy livestream, gifs on a dash or live in a stadium, Eras was a hell of a lot of fun and so much more than a concert.

The wonderful @bethanyactually tagged me in the Best Books I Read This Year meme. According to my Goodreads account I read 71 books this year (msg me if you want to be friends there!). I read some really good books this year but these 6* were the ones that I gave 5 star ratings too and are thus are highlighted.

Special shout-out to the DI Adam Fawley mystery series which got me through early spring, re-reading Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay series from the late 90's in the summer and winding down this fall with some good memoirs including She Memes Well by Quinta Brunson and The Third Gilmore by Kelly Bishop.

* Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone was also a 5 star read but since that book doesn't come out until March 2025 (I got an ARC through NetGalley) I did not include it here but please know I love it and cannot wait until others read it. In fact, it might be my favorite Bastone book so far, it was that good.

Currently watching: Suits, which I wasn't sure about at first but it's growing on me. Before that The Diplomat which was phenomenal.

Currently reading: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. I'd put it off for ages, but I highly recommend for anyone who writes. Before that A Psalm for the Wild-Build by Becky Chambers, which was sweet and cozy and beautiful.

Current obsession: Not to jinx it, but I have a lot of irl activities going on right now, and not a ton happening in fandom land. It's kinda nice actually?
