How to Wear It:
The possibilities are endless! Here are some ideas:
Casual Chic: Pair a short kurta with a flowy palazzo for a relaxed yet stylish daytime look.
Work wear Wonder: Choose a more structured kurta with palazzo Suit and a statement dupatta for a boss-lady vibe.
Festive Fun: Opt for a heavily embroidered kurta with a straight-cut Salwar and a dupatta draped dramatically for a special occasion.
Salwar with Dupatta vs. Salwar with Chudidar:
Both options work with Indo-Western Salwar Suits. A Salwar with dupatta is the traditional pairing, offering a touch of elegance. A Salwar with Chudidar (tighter-fitting pants) adds a more modern and sleek feel.

What are the types of churidar suits?
A traditional Indian wear that does a flawless job appreciating a woman’s curves and elegantly drapes over the feminine figure is a salwar kameez and churidar. The modish attire looks elegant and is worn by high-end celebs and well-known soap actors.
From classic movies to trendy fashion magazines, these suit designs are visible everywhere. The outfit takes inspiration from the Mughal era. The cut and outline of a churidar dress suit all body types. Where a certain pattern fits well with slim figures, the long kameez appreciates curvy bodies. The best part about these is that they are comfortable to wear.
Churidar suits were traditionally made using cotton and muslin cloth. You could find the typical churidar white. But today, you can find these outfits in all kinds of materials and colours. Thanks to multiple manufacturers, brands, designers and e-commerce stores, churidar suits have seen multiple spins.
You can find various types of traditional Indian churidar suits online or in the market. Let us learn about some of these.
Anarkali Suits
You cannot talk about the churidar dress and not mention the famously known Anarkali suit. It gained popularity after the release of Mughal-e-Azam. The protagonist Anarkali, played by the stunning Madhubala, was adorned in breath-taking Anarkali outfits.
The traction led to the evergreen Anarkali suit that features kameez with a full skirt, clubbed with a dupatta and churidar pants. The Anarkali suit is a party wear churidar that lets the wearer embrace a regal aesthetic. The flowy silhouette combined with modern designs gave rise to its eternal reputation.
Favouring distinct body types, the Anarkali wins in providing an elegant and smooth look. It offers a tall and slim appearance and even looks lovely on petite bodies. Women can shop from a variety of Anarkali churidar suits online.
Chooridar Suits
The name is self-explanatory and is suits that have long pants with a tight fitting. The pants wrinkle at the end and give it a churidar look. The churidar kameez gives you the option to either choose a short kameez or get them to calf length. You can opt for this churidar type over a Punjabi salwar suit.
Unlike the long churidar dress, most young women can use these for daily wear. They look good on slimmer bodies. These are not ideal for short women, as it makes their legs appear shorter. For special occasions, you can find heavily embroidered options when chudithar shopping online.
Front Slit Suits
Among the latest chudidhar designs is the front slit kameez that starts from the waist. Women who love exploring fashionable options can try this fit. You can either pair it with a churidar pyjama or trousers in the style of pants.
This churidar kameez looks stunning with a same or contrasting coloured dupatta. The stylish cut of the suit gives the body a slimmer appearance and makes you look tall. It best suits women with appreciable curves and hourglass figures. Other than being a party dress, you can buy a readymade chudithar with this cut for office wear.

The evolution fashion in Bollywood
From flared trousers to classic salwar kameez to high street shoes to eye-catching collars, Indian clothing and western clothing have evolved tremendously in Bollywood. Since the advent of Bollywood films in the 1930s, Bollywood and fashion have been inextricably linked. Hindi actresses have always set fashion standards both now and in the past. Our films have influenced the fashion sense of generations. In the decade from the 1960s to the present, the evolution of Indian women's fashion has changed dramatically.
This is the evolution of Indian women's fashion through some notable trends in Bollywood.
1950's era
The 1950s fashion was quiet, inconspicuous, and formal. Most of the films were shot in the countryside, with males wearing Dhotis and women wearing Gagra Choli. Some films featuring metropolitan characters were influenced by European design, with men wearing exquisite suits and ladies wearing elegant saris. Bread and pearls were the major adornments, and the haircut was clean.
The decade of the 1960s
The most famous Indian clothing, Anarkali kurtas, which were adorned by Madhubala in Mughal-e-Azam, are likely best recognized as a product of the 1960s. The 1960s saw a lot of changes in men's and women's fashion. Everything changed: colours, styles, and hairdos.
In the decade of 1970s
It was 10 years of experimenting with using bright and luxurious items such as polka dot crop tops, short dresses, and bright sari. Thigh-high slits and bikinis have become popular in this decade. When it comes to makeup, the winged eyeliner was the winner. In the 1970s, flashy clothes were all the rage. It culminated in some of the best aspects of the sophisticated or overkill 1960s. A cowl neck sweater and a bell sleeve top were in every woman's closet. Bell bottoms with flared sleeves were a major fashion trend in the 1970s. Of course, the lady was dressed in a bell-sleeved short dress. The late 1970s also saw the rise of disco culture and style. The disco craze has reintroduced big, brightly coloured sunglasses as a way to explain hippy culture.
The decade of the 1980s
The transition from the rebellious 1970s to the luxurious 1980s was seamless, fashionable and stylish. Bollywood fashion got bold, featuring shoulder pads, bold decorations, and a wealth of metallic colours. It is believed that it has been 10 years since thin fabrics such as chiffon appeared. The first generation of Indian fashion designers became famous in the 1980s. Disco dancers and their glittering silver and gold costumes have been synonymous with this decade. Double blades, loose curls and buns were included in the hairstyle.
In the decade of 1990's
Pants were replaced by skirts in the 1990s, indicating that the skin no longer frowns. Meanwhile, Sally was still dominant. In the early 1990s, thin Dupatta with long sleeves and short blouses became a big hit. Crop tops, shorts, off-shoulders, halter necks, and denim overalls were popular in the decade's second half. Bollywood fashion in the 1990s was responsible for some of India's recent Western fashion trends that are still popular today.
The decade of 2000's
From chiffon sari to T-shirts and jeans, the 2000s focused on comfort and the latest outfits. Bollywood fashion was about crop tops, bikinis, palazzo, shorts and T-shirts combined with micro-minis. In addition, there is an eclectic mix of ethnic and western styles in a particular "look" designed for the character, not the actor who plays the character.
The Decade 2010 Over the last decade, a vibrant fashion statement has emerged, from shorts and skirts to strapless dresses. Female characters and their costumes represent women's empowerment. Women’s appearance has become more and more popular these days. Exclusive design defines Bollywood fashion today, and trends change almost as often as movie releases. Even if the movie doesn't captivate the viewer, its dress sense is often noteworthy.

Salwar suits’ relationship with India is ages old. They have been there in Indian culture for centuries. Known also as Salwar Kameez, salwar suits are worn by both women and men as well. However, traditionally men’s salwar only consists salwaz and kameez whereas, women salwar suit are three piece garments. Salwar refers to the trousers that are originally wide on the above and narrow down towards the ankle. Kameez is a shirt which can be made as per desired length. Kameez also has side slits starting from the waist to help movement. Lastly, dupatta which is a loose long cloth resembling a scarf worn historically to cover the head like a veil. In various regions, dupatta is also called chunni and odhna.
The most common types of salwar are patiala and churidar. The churidar suit has a long below the knee length kurta with a biased cut salwar that is longer than legs hence giving numerous folds that look like bangles (churi). Patiala kurti is comparatively shorter which ends above the knee and the salwar is stitched with pleats that give a beautiful falling effect. Although the classic silhouette of salwar kameez has remained, styles have evolved with time. Earlier they were given an A-like cut but now there are myriad of patterns that salwar suits are adapted in.
With contemporary fashion, designers have set new trends for this traditional attire. Salwar suits are loved everywhere in India because of their feminine appeal and comfort factor. In past decades, various styles have been introduced in the fashion circuit. There are more and more styles, colors, fabrics and decorations invented constantly in order to keep bringing something new.
A very popular style doing the rounds lately is the Anarkali style suit which was inspired by the Mughal courtesans’ attire. Anarkali suits have a frock style kurta that are fitted till the midriff and then flared with typically a churidar bottom and dupatta. However, nowadays anarkali suits are worn with pants and palazzos as well. Even the kurta or top wear can be worn in different styles. Instead of frock style, they can be patterned into A-line suits with slits in the front. Double layered anarkali Salwar kameez are also in vogue for the extra added volume. Furthermore, they can be paired with straight cut pants or palazzos.
Double layered salwar suits are also a current trend in the current fashion circle for their voluminous appearance that is accentuated by the flowy smooth fabrics that are mostly used such as satin, georgette, net and so on. These can be experimented with in many ways, for example, you can wear a heavy embellished long kurta with a slit lehenga and churidar or just lehenga. These not only look traditional but also very glamorous in their own way.
You can be traditional even without following the typical Indian dresses pattern of A-line kameez with pleated salwar by opting for something of outer roots like the Pakistani style suit. Pakistani style suits are different in the manner that the kameez is cut straight and is longer than usual. The kameez is paired with loose straight cut salwar or even palazzos. Either you can go for an embellished kurta with plain salwar or vice versa.
If you want to go for a different and slightly modern look, you can opt for pant suits that are a big hit in current fashion circuit. Available in mostly heavily embellished fabrics these salwar suits come with floor length kameez usually slit on the front or side paired with a fitted pant that accentuate the curves and contours of the lower body. The kameez is mostly prepared in twain fabrics with the bodice in a heavy fabric and the lower fall in a light or translucent fabric. While the pant can be embellished like the top, brocade fabrics also go well in these styles. Pant suits are ethnic and extremely glamorous at the same time.
With myriad styles in ethnic salwar suits you have a vast range of products now to choose from for any occasion you are looking for.
