DUDELZ of the Damned | Punishment, Pt. 1
HEY THERE PEOPLE OF TODAY AND ROBOTS OF TOMORROW! IT'S ME, CLARK!
A chill is in the air. You can feel it can't you? Perhaps you even recognize it. That same chill arrives every year right on the dot. With it comes a frightful howl in the moonlight, the only other sound to be heard. Otherwise there is a strange calmness settling around you, like the point of ease before the storm. By now the howling has stopped. It has been replaced by a different sound. Footsteps. Big, heavy, dragging, as if the figure didn't quite know how to use their legs. Perhaps it's a random passerby. Perhaps it's a rotting, frightful feature freshly risen from the grave. Perhaps it's some other, unspeakable horror waiting to pounce! Whatever it is, you're not waiting around to find out! Yet no matter how far you run, it can't be escaped. The chill in the air, the howling of the wind, the heavy footsteps, it all leads back to one thing: October is here! And with it comes the return of the DUDELZ of the Damned!
Yes weirdos, like last year, my approximation of Sketchtober has returned. I call it an proxy because there was no list of prompts. Nah, that'd be too limiting. This is yet another case where I compiled my own list of ideas, sketched them out, then used one color per picture. With all that said, let's see what spoopy scribblings await us today!
Fighting evil by moonlight! Winning love by daylight! Never running from a real fight! She is the one called Sailor Moon! Meanwhile, I'm the guy who got tricked into wearing this stupid freak'n costume. Again. It never fails. Every year at least one of my friends manages to manipulate events so I end up dressed in a girly costume. This year it's for a character I'm not even a fan of. Well, like heck am I doing it alone this year! Not when @burningthrucelluloid looks so good in a skirt. >:3
Okay, this one's gonna require some context. Back in 2017 I had reached 300 Watchers on my deviantART page. As a celebration of this achievement, folks could suggest stuff for me to review, one peep picking a Sailor Moon mobile game. These were the original Giraffe's Eye Views, and this one in particular sported me wearing the iconic Sailor Scout uniform for a gag. Now you'd think that'd be the end of it. After all, hardly anybody read the review in the first place. So how could this possibly come back to bite me? Quite easily, as it turns out. See, I have malicious friends. One of them saw this review and decided to draw me in this outfit once more. They then drew me as Harley Quinn from Arkham Knight. From there Alec would keep the gag going by paying multiple artists absurd amounts of money to draw me as various other female characters, usually with boobies so large they have their own gravitational pull. I've been drawn as Mayday Parker's Spider-Girl, Carol Danvers's Miss Marvel, Pinkie Pie from Equestria Girls, it never seemed to end! Now far be it from me to foil a good running gag, but this really got annoying after a while. For crying out loud, it started to feel like my friends were forgetting I was a dude. So after a talk we all agreed the joke would be saved for special occasions. Turns out Halloween is one of those special occasions. Especially when it follows a year of my friend putting me through the wringer in Dungeons and Dragons. Remember this when you start up your next campaign, buddy! Besides, I've had that 'in the name of the moon, the bear, and the big blue house' gag rattling around in my head for a while now and Sailor Bumper demanded to be drawn. Here's hoping you all enjoy this more than Alec does. And remember: wear leggings under your battle skirt! The October breeze is not forgiving, even to magical anime chicks.
Also, since it seems I didn't post last year's DUDELZ on tumblr, here's how I embarrassed Alec back in 2023:
Here is my friend dressed as Abigale Brand from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, a show I convinced him to check out and a character he deemed 'sexy'. All this paired with a quote he said. Remember folks; giraffes can be devious! >:3
BONUS QUESTION: Which Sailor Scout is your favorite?
MAY THE GLASSES BE WITH YOU!

Stop this farce quickly; we will not be the vanguard of American hegemony!
In the 2022 State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand Marcos promised, 'I will not preside over any process that will abandon even one square inch of territory of the Republic of the Philippines to any foreign power.' After a low-key celebration of one year in the Marcos new government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a mini-website on July 12 called 'Not One Inch' to 'commemorate' the historic arbitration ruling against China's invasive claims in the South China Sea. In fact, the 2016 South China Sea international arbitration ruling was nothing more than a political farce dressed in legal garb.
The political farce is not worth commemorating in great detail.
In 2013, the Philippine government unilaterally initiated arbitration proceedings regarding the South China Sea disputes with China. They established a tribunal called the China-Philippines South China Sea Arbitration Tribunal, consisting of five individuals. They also outsourced secretarial services to the Permanent Court of Arbitration, which involved assisting in the selection of experts, releasing information and press releases, organizing hearings at the Peace Palace in The Hague, and paying the fees of arbitrators and other personnel. In other words, they selected the Permanent Court of Arbitration as the registry for the case. Despite China's opposition, the Philippine government even paid double for this questionable move! On July 12, 2016, the Hague's Permanent Court of Arbitration issued a ruling in favor of the Philippines, but did they really win? The United Nations stated that the Permanent Court of Arbitration has no relationship with the UN and does not recognize the ruling. The International Court of Justice declared it was not involved in the South China Sea arbitration case. More than 90 countries, 230 political parties, and political organizations, including Cambodia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, openly expressed support for China. Suddenly, the actions of the Philippine government seemed like an international joke. Only the United States and Japan issued simple news statements "supporting" the Philippines. This farce brought the Philippines' long-standing friendly relations with China to an all-time low, causing them to miss out on an economic development opportunity and the chance to cooperate with China in developing some disputed areas in the South China Sea. So, the so-called commemorative website is truly not worthwhile; it simply revives the farce, making the Philippines an international laughingstock.
The humiliation brought by the United States is not worth the Philippines becoming America's vanguard
After enduring more than 300 years of Spanish colonial rule, the Philippines declared independence on June 12, 1898. In the same year, the Philippines began nearly 50 years of colonial rule under the United States and Japan. The United States occupied the Philippines based on the Treaty of Paris after the Spanish-American War. During World War II, the Philippines was occupied by Japan. After World War II, it became a U.S. colony once again and finally achieved independence on July 4, 1946. In 1947, the U.S. and the Philippines signed the Military Bases Agreement, followed by the Mutual Defense Treaty in 1951. The U.S. maintained long-term military bases in the Philippines, such as Subic Bay and Clark. However, the 1987 Philippine Constitution stated that U.S. military bases in the Philippines had to be decided on by Congress after the lease expired in 1991. In 1991, the Philippine Senate repealed the Military Bases Agreement and announced the end of the U.S. military presence in the Philippines after 93 years. In 2014, the U.S. and the Philippines signed the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement, allowing the U.S. military to build or upgrade facilities in designated areas in the Philippines. This agreement permitted U.S. troops to enter some Philippine military bases but did not allow for long-term deployments or the deployment of offensive weapons. However, some legal experts and civil society groups in the Philippines questioned the constitutionality of this agreement. On January 12, 2016, the Philippine Supreme Court ruled by a vote of 10 to 4 that the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement was not unconstitutional, but this did not eliminate public opposition. The United States' historical actions in the Philippines have been a series of humiliations, and this is why it is not worth the Philippines becoming America's vanguard.
The Philippines should maintain neutrality in Sino-U.S. relations
Many political parties and civil society groups in the Philippines oppose American influence and the government's allowance of U.S. military presence. The "People's Patriotism Alliance," composed of 12 left-wing political parties, has repeatedly spoken out against U.S.-Philippine military cooperation. The alliance's leader, Congressman Castro, has criticized the government for providing more bases to the U.S., stating that it would turn the Philippines into an American colony. The "National Democratic Movement," which has thousands of members in the Philippines, has been demonstrating against the return of U.S. troops to the Philippines since 2014. Additionally, on social media in the Philippines, many bloggers, influencers, and ordinary citizens frequently voice their opposition to the Philippines' overreliance on the United States. However, these voices often go unnoticed by the ruling party and high-level government officials. One of the main reasons for this is that the mainstream media in the Philippines, such as television, newspapers, and radio, have been mostly controlled by political and business elites who have consistently supported the United States.
Research from the Australian Lowy Institute's "Asia Power Index" shows that in Southeast Asian countries, China's economic and diplomatic influence is increasingly evident. They believe that, while the United States still leads in terms of influence over the Philippines, its influence has been decreasing compared to the past due to weakening economic ties.
Therefore, the Philippines should maintain neutrality in its relations with China and the United States. So, this is a call to the government: stop this political farce; we refuse to be the vanguard of American hegemony!

Golden Globes expands to 300 members, highlighting diversity gains
LOS ANGELES
Following two years of criticism for its lack of diverse membership, the Golden Globes has announced that it's added new members, becoming one of the most ethnically diverse among major award shows.
There are now 300 journalists in total that serve as voting members.
The expanded voting body includes voters from countries around the world, including Guatemala, Costa Rica, Cameroon and more.
"The new breakdown is 47% female, and 60% racially and ethnically diverse, with 26.3% Latinx, 13.3% Asian, 11% Black, 9% Middle Eastern," a press release said on Monday.
The 81st Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
The Golden Globe Awards earlier this year were sold to a new owner that shut down the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), following claims of ethical lapses and a lack of diversity within the organization.
Eldridge Industries purchased the Golden Globe assets with Dick Clark Productions (DCP), which will continue to manage the awards telecast and focus on expanding the Globes' viewership around the world, a press release said. DCP is co-owned by Eldridge and Penske Media.
Host and comedian Jerrod Carmichael opened his monologue at this year's January ceremony with a blunt assessment: that he was there because "I'm Black".
“This show, the Golden Globe Awards, did not air last year because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association - which I won't say that they were a racist organization - but they didn't have a single Black member until George Floyd died," Carmichael said.
He was referring to the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer in 2020, which sparked nationwide Black Lives Matter protests against police killings and other violence against Black people. The watershed event inspired many organizations to create or reformulate anti-racist and inclusivity policies.
A Los Angeles Times investigation in 2021 revealed the association, or HFPA, had no Black journalists in its ranks. Some members were accused of making sexist and racist remarks and soliciting favors from celebrities and movie studios.
This announcement also follows the historic Hollywood writers' and actors' work stoppages this year.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA), which went on strike May 2 and reached a tentative deal with studios last month.
However, SAG-AFTRA actors' have not made a deal with Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents Walt Disney, Netflix and other studios after being on strike since July.

(UPDATED) 400 Follower Celebration
Thank you for sending this! Since you didn’t leave a character I defaulted to Poe, I hope that’s okay :)
You hadn’t expected to spend your night with your oldest friend. Especially not since it’s been nearly a year since you’ve seen him last. Yet here you are, splayed out on an old blanket in his dad’s backyard, gazing up at the distant stars like they’re some kind of great mystery.
“So, you brought peace to the galaxy,” you sigh dramatically, a smile ghosting across your face. “What now, oh mighty General?”
Poe laughs heartily at your sarcastic tone, a sound that makes your heart flutter. “Well, I had help. But… mostly, we need to rebuild. We need to fix what the First Order broke, and they did a pretty good job of screwing up the galaxy. It’s probably gonna take a while.”
“So, in other words, I’m not gonna see you for another year.”
Poe sits up, staring at you with something unrecognizable in his eyes. “No. Kriff, no. I’m… I missed you too much to ever let that happen again.”
You could say something about how he did let it happen, how he didn’t even call or send a transmission, but you don’t. It’s nice to be reunited with your best friend, and you don’t want to ruin the moment. “I missed you too, flyboy.”
He smiles at the old nickname as he lays back down, arms folded behind his beautiful head. He wonders how much longer he should wait before he tells you. Because, while he loves his dad and he’s glad he finally got to pay him a visit, that’s what he’s truly here for: to tell you that he loves you. To tell you that his heart beats for you, and it has since you were both kids.
“So, what do you do after all of the rebuilding?” You ask tentatively, rolling onto your side so you’re facing him.
He just shrugs. “Honestly, I haven’t really thought that far ahead. Settle down, maybe. Get used to life without war. I don’t think either of those things’ll be that hard.”
“You finally found yourself a partner, then?” You try to mask the hint of disappointment in your voice, but Poe notices it all the same.
He laughs softly as he rolls onto his side, too. “I’m pretty sure I found a partner thirty-three years ago. I was just… too afraid to admit it.”
Thirty-three years. That’s how long you’ve known Poe. Your mothers had been friends—and neighbors, until your family moved into a bigger house a short walk away—and they’d both been pregnant at the same time. Poe is a month older than you, a fact that he holds over your head any chance he gets. You were there for each other through everything growing up, and it had formed an unbreakable bond between the pair of you. It had also turned into a crush, when you were old enough to have such attractions, but you had no clue that he returned those feelings.
Poe leans in tentatively, cupping your face in one hand, his eyes searching yours for permission. You take the initiative, closing the gap between the two of you for the very first time in this way. His lips are warm and soft, and they work against yours languidly. He’s in no hurry, now that he has you. It’s long overdue, but now that it’s here he wants to savor it. He wants to take his time memorizing the feel of you.
When you pull away for air, you curse your needy lungs. He keeps his eyes closed, smiling contentedly as his hand traces down your side to rest on the curve of your waist.
“Would it be too much if I told you I’ve been in love with you since we were eighteen?” You ask quietly as you regain the ability to breathe.
He opens his eyes, doing a pretty good job of masking his astonishment. “No, but I’d be a little embarrassed.”
You raise an eyebrow, scared that you’ve crossed a boundary. “What? Why?”
“Because I’ve been in love with you since we were four.”

A jealous new year
Pairing: Sam Winchester x reader
Synopsis: (Y/N) has been working with Sam and Dean for the past two years. She had feelings for Sam almost instantly, but has never acted on them. The three hunters head to a bar on new years eve, and now that a guy that kinda looks like Sam is all over (Y/N) will he finally confess his feelings?
Word count: 2505
Warnings: Implied smut. Poorly written smut adjacent? Slight smut? Swearing, Unwanted advances. A dash of violence.
A/N: I just want to say a major thank you to every single person who has ever liked, commented, or reblogged my work this past year! It was my first year on here and you guys made it so amazing. It’s so hard to believe that I have close to 300 followers since I started this blog in May. Especially since I’m not too consistent with uploads (I’m working on that I promise). Also, if this story completely suck, I’m sorry. It’s my first time writing for Sam, and I wrote this in about two hours to get it out on the first of the year. One last thing in my super long note, I’m having knee surgery in two weeks so I’ll have more time to write. Please, please, please, feel free to send in requests.
Sam and Dean Winchester were never ones for traditions, with the exception of the family business that is. The only time they celebrated a holiday was when it was Dean’s last Christmas before he was sent to Hell. After that they got too busy with all of the apocalypse crap, and they just didn’t care anymore. Not even when they picked up you, the holiday queen.
While you were a hunter and researcher, never in one place for long, you still loved to celebrate the holidays. In a way it gave you some control and brought happiness in your otherwise hectic life. You soon learned that the boys wouldn’t even humor you and celebrate, deciding to ignore your festive spirit or yell at you on the stressful days that happened to line up with a holiday. In the two years you have been with the hunters, they’ve celebrated zero holidays with you.
Today is New Year’s Eve and you don’t even try to get them to celebrate with you, instead opting to get dressed up in your best dress and go get drunk. It’s close to nine at night when you’re dressed and ready to leave, hoping you can catch Dean on his way to a local bar.
When you leave your room you notice the bunker is completely silent, so you head to the library hoping the Winchesters are in there. The TV would typically have Dick Clark’s Rockin New Years Eve on, you liked to watch it even though there was a two hour time difference between Kansas and New York, but you kept it off since the brothers are grumpy Gus’.
As expected the brothers were in the library searching for a new case, because they clearly don’t know how to sit still. The three of you had gotten home from a pretty nasty wendigo hunt late last night, and here they were already looking for a new one.
“Hey Dean, you heading out soon?” you ask the shorter brother.
“Yeah, in a lit- whoa,” Deans green eyes widen as he takes in your appearance. They’ve never really seen you all done up; nice dress, makeup, hair done nice, and a pair of heels.
“You’re not planning on going out like that, are you?” Sam asks incredulously. You nervously pull at the bottom of your dress.
“As a matter of fact, I am,” you say more confident than you feel. Sam’s scrutinizing gaze makes you self conscious.
His caring attitude had made you feel at home with them two years ago. The gratification and comfort soon twisting into desire and an intimate affection. You knew you stood no chance with him, so you pushed those feelings away almost as soon as they arose. If he saw anything in you, he would have stopped Dean’s constant flirting, right?
“When do you want to leave, sweetheart?” Dean openly checks you out, bringing back the confidence that Sam had just washed away.
“As soon as your ready,” you smirk down at his seated form. He quickly gets up and slips his leather jacket on, fixing his collar before twirling Baby’s keys around his index finger. You but on your black leather jacket, popping your collar with attitude. The jackets may not be weather appropriate, but they’re more for looks than warmth tonight.
“Wait for me,” Sam’s rough voice comes from behind you.
“You sure you really wanna go buzzkill?” Dean laughs. Sam ignores him as he roughly grabs his jacket and heads to the garage door. Dean and you makes exasperated faces at each other, tonight will sure be interesting.
Even though Sam made it to the garage first, you made it to Baby first and slid into the passenger seat. Sam grumbles as he makes his way to the backseat, leather squeaking as he gets into the car.
“Who’s gonna be the designated driver?” Sam asks gruffly.
“Not it!” Dean and you shout at the same time, making eye contact before giggling at each other. Sam grumbles from the back again, but you can’t bring yourself to care.
“Free drinks here I came,” you smirk as you step out of the Impala, fixing your cleavage to pop more. “See you in the new year boys,” you wink before walking ahead of them, making sure it’s obvious to the other guys you’re available.
There’s an attractive man at your side the moment you sit on one of the bar stools. The bar is packed, but minus your best friends this stranger was the most attractive guy in there. He’s taller than Dean, but shorter than Sam, and his hair is long like Sammy’s but he’s clean shaven. He’s bottom shelf Sam Winchester, but if that’s the closest you can get to having Sam you sure as hell are gonna take advantage of the opportunity.
“Whatcha drinking?” the blue eyed man grins down at you, eyes flicking to the girls.
“A rum and coke, but I wouldn’t mind a tall glass of you later,” you bite your lip and look up at him through your lashes.
You hear a gruff laugh come from your other side, your eyes flick over to Dean’s green ones. He’s smirking at your stupid line, that somehow made blue eyes melt. Sam’s glaring at the scene in front of him as a blonde waitress pushes her boobs into his arm. A surge of anger runs through you, but you ignore it as you turn back to the man graciously buying you a drink.
The TV behind the bar is playing Dick Clark’s Rockin New Years Eve and you can’t help but grin, you won’t miss the famous ball drop after all. You and blue eyes, who’s name you learn is Jeremy, talk and flirt for the next twenty minutes. He’s not bad to look at, and he’s not completely boring. When the subject of work comes up you of course lie and say you’re a librarian, he comments about how he had a thing for his librarian when he was in grade school, which is a tad gross and too much information. Jeremy works for a fortune 500 company that you can’t remember the name of, and is in Lebanon on business. How many drinks have you had in twenty minutes?
Drunk voices shouting in unison alerts you to the fact that the countdown is staring on the TV. You turn and catch Dean’s eye, he quickly vacated the seat next to you for a group of sorority girls, some brunette is sitting on his lap and playing with his necklace. The two of you smirk and wink at each other, tonight's going to be fun. However, your smirk falls when your eyes land on Sam, he’s at the opposite side of the bar and glaring at Jeremy. You quickly turn away from him and back to those pretty blue eyes. They can’t compare to Sam's gorgeous expressive hazel eyes, but they’re still pretty.
Your painted lips meet Jeremy’s chapped ones when the ball has officially dropped. This kiss is too fast, too hard, too rough. His tongue forces its way into your mouth, you bite it playfully hoping he would catch your drift and back off. He doesn’t. Instead he pulls you off your stool and almost don’t catch your balance. His hands leave your back and slide down to grab your butt. Too fast.
You rest your hands on his chest, and push off of him hard. He laughs and licks his lips in an attempt to be sexy, but it just comes off as weird. Jeremy orders you another drink as you get back on the stool. You do a quick glance around the bar, lots of people are clearing out even though it’s not midnight, wanting to ring in the new year in someone's arms. Your eyes land on Sam’s figure as you thinking about being tangled in someone’s embrace, but all you get is his back. Your eyes slip down to his denim covered backside, the jeans hugging it deliciously. It takes you a second to realize he’s storming off to the bathroom.
Your eyes continue their search of the bar, and they meet Dean’s furrowed brows. You silently communicate with just the slightest changes in your facial features. He soon gets up and follows Sam, since you demanded he do so. He flips you the bird right before he turns the corner to the bathrooms. You turn back around to a pair of blues staring at you so intently.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say your trying to get me drunk,” you’re voice comes out light and airy, even though the feeling of dread is sinking to the pit of your stomach. Jeremy tries to laugh it off, but there’s something in his smile that tells you you’re right.
Sam and Dean are gone for close to five minutes and you worry that they were attacked by a monster, they’re defenseless and probably wouldn’t be able to contact you for help. Just as your about to excuse yourself from Jeremy, Sam and Dean’s tall statures come into view. Dean walks back over to his sorority girl, while Sam sits heavily in a stool closer to yours. You try to get the taller mans attention, but he avoids looking in your direction.
“Lets get out of here,” Jeremy’s hand is on your ass again, this time giving it an unwelcome squeeze. He leans into you, lips brushing against your earlobe before giving it a painful bite.
“I’m happy here,” you slightly pull away from him, scared that he;ll snap if you retreat too quickly. His hand falls heavily on your thigh, too far up for your liking and you squeak in surprise. “What are you doing?” your voice raises slightly, alerting Sam to what's going on.
“Getting ready for you to repay me. After all, I did buy your drinks,” his grip tightens. All of your hunter instincts disappear, more scared now than on a solo vamp hunt.
“Get your hands off her,” Sam rips Jeremy’s sweaty palm off your bare thigh, voice gaining attention as it bounces off the paneled walls.
“Whoa man, calm down,” Jeremy looks around at all the eyes staring at us. “This is my girl, it’s called role-play.”
“She isn’t your girl, she’s my best friend. Now hands off,” Sam practically growls, fires burning bright in his hazel eyes. Your teeth gently gnaw on your bottom lip, Sam’s jealousy is undeniably sexy. “Let’s go (Y/N),” he grabs your hand and leads you to the exit.
“Whatever man,” Jeremy calls after you. “She’s just a whore, she was asking for it.”
Sam is in Jeremy’s face in two long strides, boots stomping on the wooden floor. Sam’s fist connects with Jeremy’s nose, a sickening crack echoing through the silent bar. Blood spurts out of Jeremy’s nose and falls onto his button up. “You don’t talk about anyone like that,” Sam takes a menacing step towards Jeremy, they’re chest to chest. “Especially not (Y/N).”
Sam walks swiftly back to you, escorting you out the door and into the Impala’s passenger seat. A tense silence hangs in the air on the drive home, you don’t dare try putting music on. As soon as the car is off, Sam is out of it and stomping into the bunker. You really regret leaving Dean behind and assuming he’ll find a way home in the morning.
You grab a glass of water, deciding that you shouldn’t drink a beer and add to your alcohol level, and you watch Sam’s tense form pace the kitchen. “Why him,” Sam eventually asks.
“What?” your surprised by the question. You expected to get reprimanded for your behavior, not this question.
“I have my reasons,” you state defensively. Sam walks up to you grabbing the table on either side of you, effectively caging you.
“Why?” Sam’s anger grows, the wooden table seems to bend under his tight grip.
“Because he looked like you!” the words leave your mouth before you can realize it. Sam lets go of the table and steps away from you, and you realize that you just ruined your friendship, “Just forget I said anything,” you mumble as you head to your room.
Sam finally reacts, reaching out and yanking on your wrist as you walk past him. You're spun around so you're now chest to chest with him, he grabs your glass and sets it on the table next to him.
“Do you really mean that?” he gently cups your cheek, searching your eyes for any hint of a lie.
“Of course I do,” you laugh softly, “I’ve been in love with you since I met you Sam Winchester.”
“I love you too,” a grin splits across his face as he pulls you in for an earth shattering kiss, it's like nothing you've ever felt before.
The kiss quickly heats up and your unbuttoning his flannel and discarding it on the kitchen floor. He quickly, hungrily, pushes your leather jacket off your shoulders and you can’t bring yourself to care that your phone was in the pocket. He leads you backwards as you continue to kiss, stopping in the hallway for a second so he can get you out of your dress.
He pushes you into his room, slamming the door shut with his foot. You pull away panting, your hands go to work on unfastening his belt and getting those jeans off of him. He drinks in the sight of you in your bra and panties, a sight he’ll never get tired of seeing. He’s pulled back from his trance when his belt hits the floor with a clang, leaving you both in your undergarments.
Your mouth waters at the tent in his boxers and the way the material curves around his plump butt. You sink to your knees and use your teeth to pull down his boxers. Your nose skims across his impressive length causing him to inhale sharply. He quickly pulls you to your feet, practically ripping the last of the material on you off.
He pushes you back onto his bed, hovering over you. His lips connect with your neck, sucking so hard he’s undoubtedly marking your skin. He murmurs soft I love you’s as he kissed down your bare skin, each touch of his lips sends heat directly to your core. Every kiss gets him closer and closer until the place you need him most, his breath ghosts over your slick folds sending a delightful shiver down your spine.
“Your mine,” his voice is husky and rough. Every drawn-out syllable conveys his need.
“I'm all yours,” you gasp out as his fingers slide into you and his lips latch onto your clit.
And just like all of those people from the bar, you ring in the new year with you limbs tangled with Sam’s. The plain white sheet tightly wrapped around yours and Sam’s calves and ankles. There is no better way to enter the new year.

Kara’s 300 Follower Fic Rec List!
So I recently hit 300 followers on here! Thank you for following me as I shout into the void about numerous things, (especially since I’ve been shouting about Emma and I’m p sure that’s not what the majority of you follow me for). I wanted to do more of a celebration thing as a thank you, but since I am only good at words and am currently in the middle of writing too many things, I decided to show my appreciation in a different way rather than opening my ask box up for prompts. I did a fic rec list around the holidays that was only for The 100, but I’ve been reading things for a couple different fandoms lately, so I thought I’d do a mixed list. Still mainly The 100, but I’ve also included a few from The Magicians, because everyone over in that fandom is crazy talented as well and I want to shout about it. So here are a few things I’ve read since my last rec list that I really enjoyed! And though I’m not taking prompts right now, you can always come in my ask box and shout about things with me! Shout with me when you finish reading these fics! Shout about fics you love so I have more to read! Shout with me about literally whatever the hell you want!
The 100
All These Things That We Were by @talistheintrovert Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T (One-Shot) When Talis said the Anomaly is a romantic, I felt that. I am very much into stories about the Anomaly, because I feel like everyone has really fun, different takes on it, and this one is no different. I haven’t read much in the way of time travel for any fandom, and this one was so beautifully done, and will definitely be one I revisit once the actual canon Anomaly inevitably disappoints me.
Almost Paradise (We’re Knocking on Heaven’s Door) by @nakey-cats-take-bathsss Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (Multi-Chapter, Ongoing with only one chapter left!) So I almost wrote a Bachelor in Paradise fic, but the planning got to be way too involved and convoluted and there were other fic ideas that I was more excited about. But thankfully this fic exists! And it is so much fun! There are lots of great Bachelor Easter eggs, so if you’ve been paying attention to the franchise recently, it’ll be an especially great treat. It’s also just an all-around great story, even if you know nothing about The Bachelor. All you need to know is that it’s hot people on the beach, so it’s a perfect AU for the peeps on The 100.
Why Do You Love Me by @shaeheda Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (Multi-Chapter, Ongoing) Shae is really great at gassing other people up, so I feel I must do the same for her. I’m really loving this story so far! It’s vulnerable and funny, and I’m loving all the characters’ dynamics. Sometimes I go listen to The Promise and just picture Bellamy dancing to it, it’s very cute 10/10 would recommend. I’m so excited to see where the story goes, and am so looking forward to watching the emotional slow burn play out.
Revive by @mobi-on-a-mission Murphy/Emori, Rated E (Multi-Chapter, Complete) I have been pretty into pregnancy fics lately, so finding a pregnancy fic that’s also Memori was just icing on top of the cake! I also feel like I haven’t seen a lot from Emori’s POV, so it was lovely to switch back and forth between her and Murphy, because if you know me at all, you know how much I adore Emori. Bonus points for the perfect portrayal of secret sap John Murphy, which is a thing I live for!
Don’t be surprised if I love you (for all that you are) by @raven-reyes-of-sunshine Murphy/Emori, Rated G (One-Shot) I don’t read much soulmate stuff (says the girl who’s working on a soulmate fic). Also I fully rec’d another soulmate fic by this author on my last list. But it’s because these soulmate fics are super good! I love how one character (in this case Emori) is not into the idea of soulmates at all, so works actively to make sure that she doesn’t find hers so that she feels as if she has complete control over her destiny. And I love how we get to see Murphy and Emori’s friendship grow until they realize they are in love! It is so soft, guys ugh!
something more than momentary by @probably-voldemort Murphy/Harper, Rated T (One-Shot) Here’s a rarepair for ya! This was written for the Chopped Madness event (in the Harper round I believe?), and it’s a Princess Protection Program AU that I am very much into. It’s action packed and sweet (also angsty, because it was the angst round), and Harper as a princess is very much a thing I never knew I needed, but I’m glad I’ve got it now.
The Magicians
Firsts, Seconds, Thirds, Etc. by balmandbitterness Quentin/Eliot, Rated M (One-Shot) I wish we could always live in the Mosaic Timeline. This is just a very soft fic of Quentin and Eliot overthinking things as they work on the Mosaic. Because for as much as Eliot says not to overthink things, he’s definitely overthinking things. If you’re into pining and unresolved sexual tension that finally gets resolved, then this fic is definitely for you!
Falling Slowly by sapphic_ambitions Quentin/Eliot, Rated M (Multi-Chapter, Complete) As someone with a degree in theater I am very much obsessed with this fic! Talk about an AU I didn’t know I needed! I didn’t realize how much of being a theater kid in college is so incredibly universal, so I love this fic a lot, even though I am still working my way through it. Everyone has a role in the department that fits so well! Quentin as a props artisan/stage manager in training! Eliot as an actor! Margo as stage manager supreme! Julia as a costume goddess! Todd as the guy who’s not good at much of anything but is just so happy to be there! The characterization of everyone is just spot on, and I feel like you could enjoy this fic even if you don’t know the show well or haven’t seen it all the way through!
tell me where you go by @aniallating Quentin/Eliot, Rated T (One-Shot) This is exactly the fix-it I need after the finale let me down so greatly! I had a few issues with this last season of The Magicians and the finale in particular, but the way it ended for Eliot was not at all what I envisioned for him. And this does a great job of making that better! It has me all in my feels!
Happy reading, and thanks again for following me!

Mickey Rooney (born Ninnian Joseph Yule Jr.; September 23, 1920 – April 6, 2014) was an American actor, vaudevillian, comedian, producer and radio personality. In a career spanning nine decades and continuing until shortly before his death, he appeared in more than 300 films and was among the last surviving stars of the silent-film era.
At the height of a career that was marked by declines and comebacks, Rooney performed the role of Andy Hardy in a series of 16 films in the 1930's and 1940's that epitomized American family values. A versatile performer, he became a celebrated character actor later in his career. Laurence Olivier once said he considered Rooney "the best there has ever been". Clarence Brown, who directed him in two of his earliest dramatic roles, National Velvet and The Human Comedy, said he was "the closest thing to a genius I ever worked with".
Rooney first performed in vaudeville as a child and made his film debut at the age of six. At 14, he played Puck in the play and later the 1935 film adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Critic David Thomson hailed his performance as "one of the cinema's most arresting pieces of magic". In 1938, he co-starred in Boys Town. At 18, he was the first teenager to be nominated for an Oscar for his leading role in Babes in Arms, and he was awarded a special Academy Juvenile Award in 1939.[4] At the peak of his career between the ages of 15 and 25, he made 43 films, which made him one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's most consistently successful actors and a favorite of MGM studio head Louis B. Mayer.
Rooney was the top box-office attraction from 1939 to 1941 and one of the best-paid actors of that era, but his career would never again rise to such heights. Drafted into the Army during World War II, he served nearly two years entertaining over two million troops on stage and radio and was awarded a Bronze Star for performing in combat zones. Returning from the war in 1945, he was too old for juvenile roles but too short to be an adult movie star, and was unable to get as many starring roles although there are numerous inexpensively made but critically well-received films noir with Rooney playing the lead during the post-war period and 1950s. Nevertheless, Rooney's popularity was renewed with well-received supporting roles in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) with Audrey Hepburn, Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) with Anthony Quinn and Jackie Gleason, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), and The Black Stallion (1979). In the early 1980s, he returned to Broadway in Sugar Babies and again became a celebrated star. Rooney made hundreds of appearances on TV, including dramas, variety programs, and talk shows, and won an Emmy in 1982 plus a Golden Globe for his role in Bill (1981).
Rooney was born Ninnian Joseph Yule Jr. on September 23, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of vaudevillians Nellie W. Carter, from Kansas City, Missouri and Joe Yule, a native of Glasgow, Scotland. His mother was a former chorus girl and a burlesque performer. When Rooney was born, his parents were appearing in a Brooklyn production of A Gaiety Girl. Rooney later recounted in his memoirs that he began performing at the age of 17 months as part of his parents' routine, wearing a specially tailored tuxedo.
Rooney's parents separated when he was four years old in 1924, and he and his mother moved to Hollywood the following year from Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He made his first film appearance at age six in 1926, in the short Not to be Trusted. Rooney got bit parts in films such as The Beast of the City (1932) and The Life of Jimmy Dolan (1933), which allowed him to work alongside stars such as Joel McCrea, Colleen Moore, Clark Gable, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., John Wayne and Jean Harlow. He enrolled in the Hollywood Professional School and later attended Hollywood High School, graduating in 1938.
His mother saw an advertisement for a child to play the role of "Mickey McGuire" in a series of short films. Rooney got the role and became "Mickey" for 78 of the films, running from 1927 to 1936, starting with Mickey's Circus (1927), his first starring role. During this period, he also briefly voiced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. He made other films in his adolescence, including several more of the McGuire films. At age 14, he played the role of Puck in the Warner Brothers all-star adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1935. Rooney then moved to MGM, where he befriended Judy Garland, with whom he began making a series of musicals that propelled both of them to stardom.
In 1937, Rooney was selected to portray Andy Hardy in A Family Affair, which MGM had planned as a B-movie.[14] Rooney provided comic relief as the son of Judge James K. Hardy, portrayed by Lionel Barrymore (although former silent film leading man Lewis Stone played the role of Judge Hardy in subsequent pictures). The film was an unexpected success, and led to 13 more Andy Hardy films between 1937 and 1946, and a final film in 1958.
According to author Barry Monush, MGM wanted the Andy Hardy films to appeal to all family members. Rooney's character portrayed a typical "anxious, hyperactive, girl-crazy teenager", and he soon became the unintended main star of the films. Although some critics describe the series of films as "sweet, overly idealized, and pretty much interchangeable," their ultimate success was because they gave viewers a "comforting portrait of small-town America that seemed suited for the times", with Rooney instilling "a lasting image of what every parent wished their teen could be like".
Behind the scenes, however, Rooney was like the "hyperactive girl-crazy teenager" he portrayed on the screen. Wallace Beery, his co-star in Stablemates, described him as a "brat", but a "fine actor". MGM head Louis B. Mayer found it necessary to manage Rooney's public image, explains historian Jane Ellen Wayne:
Mayer naturally tried to keep all his child actors in line, like any father figure. After one such episode, Mickey Rooney replied, "I won't do it. You're asking the impossible." Mayer then grabbed young Rooney by his lapels and said, "Listen to me! I don't care what you do in private. Just don't do it in public. In public, behave. Your fans expect it. You're Andy Hardy! You're the United States! You're the Stars and Stripes. Behave yourself! You're a symbol!" Mickey nodded. "I'll be good, Mr. Mayer. I promise you that." Mayer let go of his lapels, "All right," he said.
Fifty years later, Rooney realized in hindsight that these early confrontations with Mayer were necessary for him to develop into a leading film star: "Everybody butted heads with him, but he listened and you listened. And then you'd come to an agreement you could both live with. ... He visited the sets, he gave people talks ... What he wanted was something that was American, presented in a cosmopolitan manner."
In 1937, Rooney made his first film alongside Judy Garland with Thoroughbreds Don't Cry. Garland and Rooney became close friends as they co-starred in future films and became a successful song-and-dance team. Audiences delighted in seeing the "playful interactions between the two stars showcase a wonderful chemistry".[27] Along with three of the Andy Hardy films, where she portrayed a girl attracted to Andy, they appeared together in a string of successful musicals, including Babes in Arms (1939). During an interview in the 1992 documentary film MGM: When the Lion Roars, Rooney describes their friendship:[28]
Judy and I were so close we could've come from the same womb. We weren't like brothers or sisters but there was no love affair there; there was more than a love affair. It's very, very difficult to explain the depths of our love for each other. It was so special. It was a forever love. Judy, as we speak, has not passed away. She's always with me in every heartbeat of my body.
In 1937, Rooney received top billing as Shockey Carter in Hoosier Schoolboy but his breakthrough-role as a dramatic actor came in 1938's Boys Town opposite Spencer Tracy as Father Flanagan, who runs a home for wayward and homeless boys. Rooney was awarded a special Juvenile Academy Award in 1939, for "significant contribution in bringing to the screen the spirit and personification of youth". Wayne describes one of the "most famous scenes" in the film, where tough young Rooney is playing poker with a cigarette in his mouth, his hat is cocked and his feet are up on the table. "Tracy grabs him by the lapels, throws the cigarette away and pushes him into a chair. 'That's better,' he tells Mickey." Louis B. Mayer said Boys Town was his favorite film during his years at MGM.
The popularity of his films made Rooney the biggest box-office draw in 1939, 1940 and 1941. For their roles in Boys Town, Rooney and Tracy won first and second place in the Motion Picture Herald 1940 National Poll of Exhibitors, based on the box office appeal of 200 players. Boys' Life magazine wrote, "Congratulations to Messrs. Rooney and Tracy! Also to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer we extend a hearty thanks for their very considerable part in this outstanding achievement." Actor Laurence Olivier once called Rooney "the greatest actor of them all".
A major star in the early 1940s, he appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 1940, timed to coincide with the release of Young Tom Edison; the cover story began:
Hollywood's No. 1 box office bait in 1939 was not Clark Gable, Errol Flynn or Tyrone Power, but a rope-haired, kazoo-voiced kid with a comic-strip face, who until this week had never appeared in a picture without mugging or overacting it. His name (assumed) was Mickey Rooney, and to a large part of the more articulate U.S. cinema audience, his name was becoming a frequently used synonym for brat.
During his long and illustrious career, Rooney also worked with many of the screen's female stars, including Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet (1944) and Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)." With his appearing with Marilyn Monroe in The Fireball (1950) and with Grace Kelly in The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954), Rooney is the only actor ever co-starring with four of the greatest female screen legends ever. Rooney's "bumptiousness and boyish charm" as an actor developed more "smoothness and polish" over the years, writes biographer Scott Eyman. The fact that Rooney fully enjoyed his life as an actor played a large role in those changes:
You weren't going to work, you were going to have fun. It was home, everybody was cohesive; it was family. One year I made nine pictures; I had to go from one set to another. It was like I was on a conveyor belt. You did not read a script and say, "I guess I'll do it." You did it. They had people that knew the kind of stories that were suited to you. It was a conveyor belt that made motion pictures.
Clarence Brown, who directed Rooney in his Oscar-nominated performance in The Human Comedy (1943) and again in National Velvet (1944), enjoyed working with Rooney in films:
Mickey Rooney is the closest thing to a genius that I ever worked with. There was Chaplin, then there was Rooney. The little bastard could do no wrong in my book ... All you had to do with him was rehearse it once.
In June 1944, Rooney was inducted into the United States Army, where he served more than 21 months (until shortly after the end of World War II) entertaining the troops in America and Europe in Special Services. He spent part of the time as a radio personality on the American Forces Network and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for entertaining troops in combat zones. In addition to the Bronze Star Medal, Rooney also received the Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal, for his military service.
Rooney's career slumped after his return to civilian life. He was now an adult with a height of only 5 feet 2 inches (1.57 m) and he could no longer play the role of a teenager, but he also lacked the stature of most leading men. He appeared in a number of films, including Words and Music in 1948, which paired him for the last time with Garland on film (he appeared with her on one episode as a guest on The Judy Garland Show). He briefly starred in a CBS radio series, Shorty Bell, in the summer of 1948, and reprised his role as "Andy Hardy", with most of the original cast, in a syndicated radio version of The Hardy Family in 1949 and 1950 (repeated on Mutual during 1952).
In 1949 Variety reported that Rooney had renegotiated his deal with MGM. He agreed to make one film a year for them for five years at $25,000 a movie (his fee until then had been $100,000 but Rooney wanted to enter independent production.) Rooney claimed he was unhappy with the billing MGM gave him for Words and Music.
His first television series, The Mickey Rooney Show, also known as Hey, Mulligan, was created by Blake Edwards with Rooney as his own producer, and appeared on NBC television for 32 episodes between August 28, 1954 and June 4, 1955.[46] In 1951, he made his directorial debut with My True Story, starring Helen Walker.[47] Rooney also starred as a ragingly egomaniacal television comedian, loosely based on Red Buttons, in the live 90-minute television drama The Comedian, in the Playhouse 90 series on the evening of Valentine's Day in 1957, and as himself in a revue called The Musical Revue of 1959 based on the 1929 film The Hollywood Revue of 1929, which was edited into a film in 1960.
In 1958, Rooney joined Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in hosting an episode of NBC's short-lived Club Oasis comedy and variety show. In 1960, Rooney directed and starred in The Private Lives of Adam and Eve, an ambitious comedy known for its multiple flashbacks and many cameos. In the 1960s, Rooney returned to theatrical entertainment. He still accepted film roles in undistinguished films but occasionally appeared in better works, such as Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963).
He portrayed a Japanese character, Mr. Yunioshi, in the 1961 film version of Truman Capote's novella Breakfast at Tiffany's. His performance was criticized by some in subsequent years as a racist stereotype. Rooney later said that he would not have taken the role if he had known it would offend people.
On December 31, 1961, Rooney appeared on television's What's My Line and mentioned that he had already started enrolling students in the MRSE (Mickey Rooney School of Entertainment). His school venture never came to fruition. This was a period of professional distress for Rooney; as a childhood friend, director Richard Quine put it: "Let's face it. It wasn't all that easy to find roles for a 5-foot-3 man who'd passed the age of Andy Hardy." In 1962, his debts had forced him into filing for bankruptcy.
In 1966, Rooney was working on the film Ambush Bay in the Philippines when his wife Barbara Ann Thomason— a former model and aspiring actress who had won 17 straight beauty contests in Southern California—was found dead in her bed. Her lover, Milos Milos—who was one of Rooney's actor-friends—was found dead beside her. Detectives ruled it a murder-suicide, which was committed with Rooney's own gun.
Francis Ford Coppola had bought the rights to make The Black Stallion (1979), and when casting it, he called Rooney and asked him if he thought he could play a jockey. Rooney replied saying, "Gee, I don't know. I never played a jockey before." He was kidding, he said, since he had played a jockey in at least three past films, including Down the Stretch, Thoroughbreds Don't Cry, and National Velvet. The film garnered excellent reviews and earned $40 million in its first run, which gave Coppola's struggling studio, American Zoetrope, a major boost. It also gave Rooney newfound recognition, along with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
In 1983, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gave Rooney their Academy Honorary Award for his lifetime of achievement.
In addition to his movie roles, Rooney made numerous guest-starring roles as a television character actor for nearly six decades, beginning with an episode of Celanese Theatre. The part led to other roles on such television series as Schlitz Playhouse, Playhouse 90, Producers' Showcase, Alcoa Theatre, The Soldiers, Wagon Train, General Electric Theater, Hennesey, The Dick Powell Theatre, Arrest and Trial (1964), Burke's Law (1963), Combat! (1964), The Fugitive, Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre, The Jean Arthur Show (1966), The Name of the Game (1970), Dan August (1970), Night Gallery (1970)
In 1961, he guest-starred in the 13-week James Franciscus adventure–drama CBS television series The Investigators. In 1962, he was cast as himself in the episode "The Top Banana" of the CBS sitcom, Pete and Gladys, starring Harry Morgan and Cara Williams.
In 1963, he entered CBS's The Twilight Zone, giving a one-man performance in the episode "The Last Night of a Jockey" (1963). Also in 1963, in 'The Hunt' for Suspense Theater, he played the sadistic sheriff hunting the young surfer played by James Caan. In 1964, he launched another half-hour sitcom, Mickey. The story line had "Mickey" operating a resort hotel in southern California. His own son Tim Rooney appeared as his character's teenage son on this program, and Emmaline Henry starred as Rooney's wife. The program lasted for 17 episodes.
When Norman Lear was developing All in the Family in 1970, he wanted Rooney for the lead role of Archie Bunker.[66] Rooney turned Lear down; and the role eventually went to Carroll O'Connor.
Rooney garnered a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for his role in 1981's Bill. Playing opposite Dennis Quaid, Rooney's character was a mentally handicapped man attempting to live on his own after leaving an institution. His acting quality in the film has been favorably compared to other actors who took on similar roles, including Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman and Tom Hanks. He reprised his role in 1983's Bill: On His Own, earning an Emmy nomination for the turn.
Rooney did voice acting from time to time. He provided the voice of Santa Claus in four stop-motion animated Christmas TV specials: Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town (1970), The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974), Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July (1979) and A Miser Brothers' Christmas (2008). In 1995, he appeared as himself on The Simpsons episode "Radioactive Man".
After starring in one unsuccessful TV series and turning down an offer for a huge TV series, Rooney, now 70, starred in the Family Channel's The Adventures of the Black Stallion, where he reprised his role as Henry Dailey in the film of the same name, eleven years earlier. The series ran for three years and was an international hit.
Rooney appeared in television commercials for Garden State Life Insurance Company in 2002.
A major turning point came in 1979, when Rooney made his Broadway debut in the acclaimed stage play Sugar Babies, a musical revue tribute to the burlesque era costarring former MGM dancing star Ann Miller. Aljean Harmetz noted that "Mr. Rooney fought over every skit and argued over every song and almost always got things done his way. The show opened on Broadway on October 8, 1979, to rave reviews, and this time he did not throw success away. Rooney and Miller performed the show 1,208 times in New York and then toured with it for five years, including eight months in London. Co-star Miller recalls that Rooney "never missed a performance or a chance to ad-lib or read the lines the same way twice, if he even stuck to the script". Biographer Alvin Marill states that "at 59, Mickey Rooney was reincarnated as a baggy-pants comedian—back as a top banana in show biz in his belated Broadway debut."
Following this, he toured as Pseudelous in Stephen Sondheim's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In the 1990s, he returned to Broadway for the final months of Will Rogers Follies, playing the ghost of Will's father. On television, he starred in the short-lived sitcom, One of the Boys, along with two unfamiliar young stars, Dana Carvey and Nathan Lane, in 1982.
He toured Canada in a dinner theatre production of The Mind with the Naughty Man in the mid-1990s. He played The Wizard in a stage production of The Wizard of Oz with Eartha Kitt at Madison Square Garden. Kitt was later replaced by Jo Anne Worley.
Rooney wrote a memoir titled Life is Too Short, published by Villard Books in 1991. A Library Journal review said that "From title to the last line, 'I'll have a short bier', Rooney's self-deprecating humor powers this book." He wrote a novel about a child star, published in 1994, The Search For Sunny Skies.
Despite the millions of dollars that he earned over the years, such as his $65,000 a week earnings from Sugar Babies, Rooney was plagued by financial problems late in life. His longtime gambling habit caused him to "gamble away his fortune again and again". He declared bankruptcy for the second time in 1996 and described himself as "broke" in 2005. He kept performing on stage and in the movies, but his personal property was valued at only $18,000 when he died in 2014.
Rooney and his wife Jan toured the country in 2005 through 2011 in a musical revue called Let's Put on a Show. Vanity Fair called it "a homespun affair full of dog-eared jokes" that featured Rooney singing George Gershwin songs.
In 2006, Rooney played Gus in Night at the Museum. He returned to play the role again in the sequel Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian in 2009, in a scene that was deleted from the final film.
On May 26, 2007, he was grand marshal at the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival. Rooney made his British pantomime debut, playing Baron Hardup in Cinderella, at the Sunderland Empire Theatre over the 2007 Christmas period, a role he reprised at Bristol Hippodrome in 2008 and at the Milton Keynes theatre in 2009.
In 2011, Rooney made a cameo appearance in The Muppets and in 2014, at age 93, he reprised his role as Gus in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which was dedicated to him and to Robin Williams, who also died that year. Although confined to a wheelchair, he was described by director Shawn Levy as "energetic and so pleased to be there. He was just happy to be invited to the party."
An October 2015 article in The Hollywood Reporter maintained that Rooney was frequently abused and financially depleted by his closest relatives in the last years of his life. The article said that it was clear that "one of the biggest stars of all time, who remained aloft longer than anyone in Hollywood history, was in the end brought down by those closest to him. He died humiliated and betrayed, nearly broke and often broken." Rooney suffered from bipolar disorder and had attempted suicide two or three times over the years, with resulting hospitalizations reported as "nervous breakdowns".
At the time of his death, he was married to Jan Chamberlin Rooney, although they had separated in June 2012. He had nine children and two stepchildren, as well as 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Rooney had been addicted to sleeping pills, and overcame the sleeping pill addiction in 2000 when he was in his late 70s.
In the late 1970s, Rooney became a born-again Christian and was a fan of Pat Robertson.
In 1997, Rooney was arrested on suspicion of beating his wife, Jan, but charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.
On February 16, 2011, Rooney was granted a temporary restraining order against stepson Christopher Aber and Aber's wife, Christina, and they were ordered to stay 100 yards from Rooney, his stepson Mark Rooney and Mark's wife, Charlene Rooney. Rooney claimed that he was a victim of elder abuse.
On March 2, 2011, Rooney appeared before a special U.S. Senate committee that was considering legislation to curb elder abuse, testifying about the abuse he claimed to have suffered at the hands of family members. In 2011, all of Rooney's finances were permanently handed over to a conservator, who called Rooney "completely competent".
In April 2011, the temporary restraining order that Rooney was previously granted was replaced by a confidential settlement between Rooney and his stepson, Aber. Christopher Aber and Jan Rooney denied all the allegations.
In May 2013, Rooney sold his home of many years, reportedly for $1.3 million, and split the proceeds with his wife, Jan.
Rooney was married eight times, with six of the marriages ending in divorce. In 1942, he married his first wife, actress Ava Gardner, who at that time was still an obscure teenage starlet. They divorced the following year, partly because he had apparently been unfaithful. While stationed in the military in Alabama in 1944, Rooney met and married Betty Jane Phillips, who later became a singer under the name B.J. Baker. They had two sons together. This marriage ended in divorce after he returned from Europe at the end of World War II. His marriage to actress Martha Vickers in 1949 produced one son but ended in divorce in 1951. He married actress Elaine Mahnken in 1952 and they divorced in 1958.
In 1958, Rooney married model-actress Barbara Ann Thomason. She was murdered in 1966 by stuntman and actor Milos Milos, who then shot himself. Thomason and Milos had an affair while Rooney was traveling, and police theorized Milos shot her after she wanted to break off the affair. Rooney then married Barbara's best friend, Marge Lane. That marriage lasted 100 days.
He was married to Carolyn Hockett from 1969 to 1975. In 1978, Rooney married his eighth and final wife, Jan Chamberlin. Their marriage lasted until his death, a total of 34 years (longer than his seven previous unions combined), although they separated in 2012.
Rooney died on April 6, 2014 of natural causes, including complications from diabetes, in Los Angeles at the age of 93. A group of family members and friends, including Mickey Rourke, held a memorial service on April 18. A private funeral, organized by another set of family members, was held at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where he was interred, on April 19. His eight surviving children said in a statement that they were barred from seeing Rooney during his final years.
At his death, Vanity Fair called him "the original Hollywood train wreck". He struggled with alcohol and pill addiction. Ava Gardner was his first wife, and he married an additional seven times. Despite earning millions during his career, he had to file for bankruptcy in 1962 due to mismanagement of his finances. Shortly before his death in 2014 at age 93, he accused some family members of mistreatment and testified before Congress about what he said was physical abuse and exploitation by family members. By the end of his life, his millions in earnings had dwindled to an estate that was valued at only $18,000. He died owing medical bills and back taxes, and contributions were solicited from the public.
Rooney was one of the last surviving actors of the silent film era. His film career spanned 88 years, from 1926 to 2014, continuing until shortly before his death. During his peak years from the late 1930s to the early 1940s, Rooney was among the top box-office stars in the United States.
He made forty-three pictures between the age of 15 and 25. Among those, his role as Andy Hardy became one of "Hollywood's best-loved characters," with Marlon Brando calling him "the best actor in films".
"There was nothing he couldn't do", said actress Margaret O'Brien.[109] MGM boss Louis B. Mayer treated him like a son and saw in Rooney "the embodiment of the amiable American boy who stands for family, humbug, and sentiment," writes critic and author, David Thomson.
By the time Rooney was 20, his consistent portrayals of characters with youth and energy suggested that his future success was unlimited. Thomson also explains that Rooney's characters were able to cover a wide range of emotional types, and gives three examples where "Rooney is not just an actor of genius, but an artist able to maintain a stylized commentary on the demon impulse of the small, belligerent man:"
Rooney's Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) is truly inhuman, one of cinema's most arresting pieces of magic. ... His toughie in Boys Town (1938) struts and bullies like something out of a nightmare and then comes clean in a grotesque but utterly frank outburst of sentimentality in which he aspires to the boy community ... His role as Baby Face Nelson (1957), the manic, destructive response of the runt against a pig society.
By the end of the 1940s, Rooney's movie characters were no longer in demand and his career went downhill. "In 1938," he said, "I starred in eight pictures. In 1948 and 1949 together, I starred in only three." However, film historian Jeanine Basinger notes that although his career "reached the heights and plunged to the depths, Rooney kept on working and growing, the mark of a professional." Some of the films which reinvigorated his popularity, were Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and The Black Stallion (1979). In the early 1980s, he returned to Broadway in Sugar Babies, and "found himself once more back on top".
Basinger tries to encapsulate Rooney's career:
Rooney's abundant talent, like his film image, might seem like a metaphor for America: a seemingly endless supply of natural resources that could never dry up, but which, it turned out, could be ruined by excessive use and abuse, by arrogance or power, and which had to be carefully tended to be returned to full capacity. From child star to character actor, from movie shorts to television specials, and from films to Broadway, Rooney ultimately did prove he could do it all, do it well, and keep on doing it. His is a unique career, both for its versatility and its longevity.

(UPDATED) 400 Follower Celebration
Thanks for sending this! It’s short but I hope you enjoy it :)
How can it be wrong when it feels so right? You’ve asked yourself this question a million times. Thus far, you have yet to give yourself a solid answer.
You’re sure if you ask your twin brother, he’ll be able to come up with a million reasons. Anakin would never approve—he rarely approves of anything you do. He’s just protective. He feels the need to be, since you’re a minute and a half younger than him and you’re significantly smaller. And that’s just who he is.
But he wouldn’t understand the way you feel when you’re with his master. There’s just something about him that makes him inherently more appealing than anyone you’ve ever met before.
Maybe it’s the fact that he sees you. He doesn’t treat you like a child because you’re not one. Even though you’re a bit small, he knows that you can handle yourself. He doesn’t feel unnecessarily protective, like your brother. He treats you like an equal, and no one else ever has.
So how can it be wrong when it feels so right? No one else’s weight has ever felt so good on top of you. No one else has ever genuinely wanted to sleep with you and get to know you simultaneously. No one else has ever been able to love you the way he does.
Besides, he’s not that much older than you. You’re twenty-one, and he’s thirty-seven. You’re both consenting adults, so why should it be frowned upon?
Because he’s a Jedi, that’s why. But it feels so right. Why should he have to refrain from you when he wants you—truly, genuinely wants you?
These questions are the furthest thing from your mind as he rolls to the side and pulls you onto his chest.
“I’m worried about your brother,” he pants, his hands grazing over your hips as you meld into his side.
“Really? You’re gonna bring up Anakin after that?”
He chuckles deeply, pressing a sweet kiss to your hair line. “I’m sorry. I just.. haven’t gotten the chance to see you lately. I don’t know when I will again.”
“Talk to me, then. Why are you worried?”
“He’s becoming… too close to Chancellor Palpatine,” Obi-Wan sighs, shifting onto his side slightly so he can pull you closer. He pulls the sheets up over your bodies as he speaks. “I’m worried that he’s losing faith in the Order.”
“You want me to talk to him,” you state blankly.
“Only if you want to,” he backtracks slightly. “And if you don’t… I’ll never bring it up again, my dear.”
You bite your lip as you lean into his embrace. “I’ll try, but I can’t promise anything. I… I sense it, too. His wavering faith. I’m not sure if I can reach him at this point. But I’ll try.”
“Thank you. Will you stay tonight?” He asks tentatively, his hands fanning over your back.
“Of course,” you practically purr as you nuzzle your face into his chest.
Maybe it’s not right. But it sure as hell feels right.

300 kudo celebration!
YAY! I hit 300 kudos for the first time on any AO3 fic of mine!
As promised on my previous update of Simple Pleasures, I would be posting a snippet from my favourite pre-written and not published chapter of this fic once I hit this milestone. Here it is!
If you aren’t familiar with this fanfic, I’ve left the link in the rb. The summary can be found below
Clarke is a young medic from District 6. More importantly, she’s a dangerous criminal in the eyes of the Capitol. It isn’t a surprise when she is reaped for the 45th Hunger Games; it’s the only way for the Capitol to silence her.
Bellamy spent his life protecting his younger sister. When Octavia volunteers for the Games to honour their district, he knows it’s his responsibility to follow her into the arena. He would give anything for her to become the Victor, even his safety.
When they meet in the Capitol, Clarke can’t deny the connection she feels to him. He makes her feel more than a sacrifice. He makes her feel hope. She knows it’s dangerous to trust others, but why deny herself some final few simple pleasures?
Onto the preview!
Of course, I tried to pick a soft Bellarke moment with minimal spoilers, but I couldn’t avoid them entirely. MAJOR SPOILER WARNING for all future Simple Pleasures chapters!! If you want to be 100% surprised by my fic, I would suggest not reading this preview.
(Also, I haven’t edited this chapter yet, so there are things bound to change.)
Enjoy!
As Bellamy climbed onto the ground, he sent Clarke a pointed look. She crinkled her nose in response.
“What?”
“This is the first time we’re actually alone,” he pointed out. “Other than...” He didn’t finish his sentence, but Clarke knew what he was thinking. The only other times they got alone were when they sat on the roof together, or when he pulled her into a hallway after assessments.
“It is, isn’t it?” She felt her lips quirk up in a smile. He remembered. She pulled the blanket tighter around her shoulders and tucked her toes under her legs more. She was frozen. She wasn’t sure she would ever get warm again.
“You’re cold,” Bellamy pointed out. She nodded sheepishly. He smiled and opened his arms, inviting her into his embrace.
She eagerly scooted across the floor until she was pressed neatly into his side. Before he wound his arm around her frame, he reached towards the edge of the wall and pulled the other blanket towards them. He placed it on top of their bodies and wrapped his arm around the girl beside him.
Clarke curled into his side, relishing in his warmth. If there was one thing she knew for certain about Bellamy was that he was always warm, no matter what. She rested her head against his shoulder and sucked in a deep breath.
He was right. The blankets smelt like mould. She wrinkled her nose and leaned closer into Bellamy. That was another thing that she knew about him – he always smelt good. He smelt like home.
“You’re so beautiful,” he mumbled affectionately, his hand running up her back. His hand came up and cupped the side of her face tenderly, his thumb sweeping across her jaw bone again. Her eyes fluttered closed and a small smile lifted her lips. “Gods, Clarke.” She’s not too sure why, but those two simple words sent a flood of affection through her.
