it's been one month since everything that happened-- since clarke left her people behind. it wasn't the easiest decision in the world, but it was one that clarke knew she needed to make. after all she'd done, after how bloody and dirty her hands had gotten, she needed... time. time to find herself again. to forgive herself because as much as she wished it to be, it wasn't as easy as someone else just granting it for her.

she isn't expecting it when she hears movement, waking her up early. she's quick to reach for the blade tucked into her boot and-- when she sees the familiar figure, when she realises who has travelled out this far... there's a lump in her throat.

there isn't enough time to run, to hide. all clarke can do, is stand there and wait for the inevitable. to be found whether that was the plan or not.

I want in, too.” He doesn’t even hesitate. “Of course I will.” She clinks her empty beer bottle against his own, and it feels like a vow. So, when he hears about the Marcus Kane campaign, his very first call is to Clarke Griffin.

Bellamy gets into politics because he likes being right.

It’s a perfectly reasonable decision, as far as he’s concerned; he has great opinions, and a lot of them. If he were probed to give another, albeit far more vulnerable answer, he’d say that he got into politics because he wanted to be able to make a difference. It sounds corny even in his own head, though, so he’d probably never admit that aloud, but the point remains.

The world has not been kind to him – his mother didn’t get the proper medical care she needed because she couldn’t afford health insurance, the foster system nearly bankrupted him and almost ruined his relationship with his sister, and the process of not only applying to but also attending college as a first-generation nontraditional student had felt like it might kill him. It would be nice, he thinks, to change some of that. Maybe not all of it, maybe not all at once, but – baby steps.

When he finds that once he’s finished his history degree at GW, he isn’t ready to stop going to school yet, he’s not horribly surprised. He worked so hard to get to this point, and so he lets himself think, for the first time, of what he wants to do with his life, and he decides to embrace the more optimistic part of him. Lets himself latch onto the idea of making real, tangible change.

So, he stays, and he gets his master’s in political science, and he starts interning on campaigns. And the second he’s there, he realizes that this is it. The thing he’s meant to do. His voice is important, in those rooms; they take him seriously, not because he’s someone’s kid or nephew, but because he’s good at this. He keeps being referred up, further and further, and so his first real, full-time gig outside of grad school is on the Jaha campaign.

Even though he starts off in more of the volunteer coordination side, Cartwig – Jaha’s Chief of Staff – realizes he has a natural aptitude for the writing. He starts working with their communications team, mostly on speeches, shadowing the Communications Director, and learning as he goes.

That’s where he meets Clarke Griffin.

3. Bokeh It was a silent, relaxing night. No other sound could be heard except the pages of a book being flipped as she read about the history of photography for her upcoming exam. It was another long night in the Woods’ household where Lexa was dedicating her time to study as hard as she could to become a professional photographer.

Woke up to the sound of Violet working on her latest invention. I asked her what it is, but she wouldn’t say a thing – just that it’s important. Whatever it is, it’s enormous, taking up nearly the entire room – a great contraption of tubes and gears and beakers and crystals. Just looking at it makes me feel dizzy.

I think I’ll spend the day in the library; perhaps that will be far enough away that the clanging and banging will be somewhat muffled. Something tells me that it won’t be, though.

Summary: Murphy was going to die. Any day now it was going to happen. He hadn't really come to terms with dying in a creepy lighthouse basement. He's always thought he'd have a more exciting death. But he had an unlimited amount of whiskey and a stomach that hadn't tasted even a crumb in days, so it wasn't like he was really sober enough to put too much thought into how he was going to die.

And then he starts hallucinating Clarke, who is convinced she's the one hallucinating him, and suddenly dying drunk in a lighthouse bunker isn't as boring a way to go as it had once seemed.

Some important canon divergences:

-if we don't plot, my default answers for memes and starters when we first begin writing may be after season 3 but canon divergent: they aren't under the threat of world destruction again (yet), Rohan honored the coalition so they are at 'peace' with the grounders, and Clarke and some of the others are staying at Becca's house, sort of a sidegroup so Wanheda isn't going to put a target on Arkadia with her presence. This is so that we can write ALL the plots we want without worrying about timelines. Either that or the depressing but with hope 'after season 6' when there is no time/planet traveling and they are just learning how to live in this new world (not freeing all the Eligius criminals at once), and dealing with various traumas. But it's not a must!

-I do headcanon/write that after having the Flame in her head, Alie's chip, blood transfusions in an unhigenic place after being tortured by her chipped mother, Clarke's brain and body wil take time to recover after s3, even if the Flame was removed correctly. She has pains in her neck sometimes, and her PTSD symptoms got heightened. She also hates being completely alone at this point, even before what happens with Praimfaya.

-important: Wells was her best friend for her entire life before being sent to Earth: Clarke is still in pieces, probably always will be, over losing him. She will think of him/mention him.

-Lexa and Finn are on the same level in her memories, more or less: people she knew for a couple of weeks/one month, she had romantic feelings for, felt betrayed by and sort of forgave before they died horribly, which means their death had more weights than their short romance, and to me Finn has more romantic weight seeing as he was her first and there was a whole 'cheating' situation that made things even harder, but they also lived together and survived together during their first month on Earth. I'm sorry to Cle.xa shippers but I cannot see how Clarke and Lexa had any time to get to really know and like each other when they were constantly apart or Clarke was justifiably refusing to see her after Lexa's betrayal pushed her to pull the lever in Mount Weather. And this after their first kiss was very shortly after Clarke felt forced to stab Finn to spare him from torture.

-She mourns both but not as extensively as in canon: Finn, though, makes her feel extremely guilty and responsible, on top of being someone she had to mercy-kill, and stays with her also as a trauma and reminder that her love kills. Lexa is connected to the first 'worst moments' of her life, and very directly so, and Clarke has mixed feelings there; but since Lexa was shot by someone who wanted to kill Clarke and right after they slept together, guilt wins there too. She's not in love with Lexa for years after her death.

-if a Bellamy rper wants to write shippy things, Clarke has been in love with him without realizing it ever since season 2. If they don't, she has no love interest when interacting with him unless plotted otherwise (she'll still have the occasional hook up with Niylah, though, but she's happily single). If a Murphy rper wants to write shippy things we will have to write that development from scratch with our thread (which is how rp generally goes). With the others I may default to Clarke having feelings for Bellamy, though, as that's what I took from the show, but having no intention of doing anything about it, especially once he's with Echo (whom my Clarke likes, by the way).

-I absolutely want to explore the fact that Clarke in the first seasons is a TEENAGER who had the weight of the world on her shoulders (after a year in solitary which is traumatizing by itself) and can still act like one sometimes. Should, in fact, be given the chance to just have a bit of fun. It didn't take long to convince her to get into the fun at the end of the very first episode, when Jordan swung to the other side of the river, she did join the party in their camp even if it was short lived, she just doesn't have time for it.

-If Madi exists and s5 happens, Clare is not going to crawl for people's forgiveness after season 5; as far as she sees it they were saving their family and she was saving hers: they wanted to put a chip that is a death sentence in her daughter's head (Bellamy) and wanted her to lead an army (the others) and she fought for her. She may apologize for hurting people in general but if prodded she will not hesitate bringing up that they made her daughter the Commander, robbing her of her life, and argue over most things she's accused of. She's going to fight back, despite agreeing that she's a terrible person. In fact if we go down that route she may be somewhat resentful around Spacekru (minus Echo who didn't attack her and they talked things out when Echo was being "kept hostage" anyway and she was told Bellamy was still alive after the arena). Even so, she also wishes for forgiveness and loves them but doesn't feel like part of their family/group. -This is also why I'm hesitant but interested in writing her with Raven: I think they'd fight a lot in later seasons and I'm not too comfortable writing hostility even if it gets fixed, unless I know the other rper and we can talk ooc too (so I know we are not actually annoying each other!) but I'd also love to write them finally going at it and then returning to be friends!

-With Octavia she actually doesn't have any particular issue because even if we write her as having become Blodraina, Clarke sees her as having lost her mind and she knows she decided to follow Madi by the end. So while she's very careful because she doesn't know if Octavia is dangerous to her now, it's an easier relationship than with Raven, Clarke isn't particularly hostile, just cautious, and if you write Octavia going through her character development in s6 (okay maybe without going into s7 with time-traveling) Clarke is there for her, especially because she knows how having to make impossible choices (genocide/cannibalism) can make you lose yourself. -She would apologize to Bellamy for forgetting he's part of the family, yes, but she'd also remind him he promised to protect Madi and then left Clarke herself locked behind while he took her daughter to Gaia and put a target on her back. Literally. A target that changed her too, and that she has to learn how to control so she's not overwhelmed by the Commanders.

-If we do write season 6, she'll bring up to Murphy how fast he cooperated with her murderer Josephine, though this would be without particular resentment given how things turned out; she'd reference it to return the favor of Murphy not letting her off the hook for a second after season 5.

-Clarke is apologetic about causing pain, especially if she decides it was wrong, and will always agree she's a bad person, but she will not think she was wrong nor apology for protecting her people, and is not that submissive.

scenarios:

-I'm also here to write enormous canon divergences, as in: long stretches of time when nothing happens, or no Praimfaya at all, or maybe there is Praimfaya and she manages to get back in time to go to space, or she's stuck on Earth with Madi but then there is no Diyoza situation yet and the others just come back, or maybe season 5 goes normally and then at the end Earth isn't bombed and they live in it, OR it happens like canon and I'm willing to write season 6 too… but NO SEASON 7. Nothing from season 7 and that includes things that started happening in season 6 related to it (time and dimension traveling lights, Hope grown up coming back for Octavia etc). I'm more than happy to write 'life after big events' (which includes us writing bad things happening to them). But also as in her taking a different approach with those characters, changing their relationships, opening up earlier/more, or having other off-canon adventures that bring them closer.

11. 3 books that you would recommend everyone to read: This feels like cheating but genuinely, there is no book that I would recommend to every single person! Some of the books I love the most or have impacted me the most are just not going to resonate for others. That said, 3 favorites that I would feel reasonably confident most of my mutuals would get something out of are: Plays Well With Others by Allan Gurganus (found family/home and the importance of art, set in New York at the beginning of the AIDS crisis); Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie (everyone who is interested in this has probably read it by now, but I can't leave it out!! Sci-fi, the quest of the last remaining sentient fragment of a destroyed starship to avenge herself, her captain and her crew while being caught up in a galactic power struggle - but really it's about personhood and justice and loyalty and love); The Solace of Leaving Early by Haven Kimmel (this one is hard to describe especially since it works best if you go in knowing nothing. The protagonist is an extremely unlikable literature PhD washout whom I love to the ends of the earth and the secondary protagonist is a small-town minister who is maybe my favorite character of all time and I guess it's about family and loss and what makes life worth living. I reread it a lot).

17. 3 tv couples you adore the most: I KNOW I'll wake up at 4am going "WAIT WHY DIDN'T I SAY--" but the first 3 to pop into my head were Ri Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Se-ri from Crash Landing On You (entirely @wendy-daahling's fault, I swear this show altered my brain chemistry forever); Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake from The 100 (technically not "a couple" but YES THEY ARE and they are so so special); and this is so basic of me but it's true, Nick Miller and Jessica Day from New Girl.

The first time you landed on earth with the 100 you were impressed with the way Clarke could navigate some of you to Mount Weather. After this you decided to stick with her and her natural skill of orientation.

Whenever you were going on a hunt or some meeting with one of the other clans, Clarke always made sure you were there with her, so you didn't get lost.

When it rained for the first time on earth, you couldn't contain yourself from laughing and dancing. What you didn't notice was that Clarke was watching you and thought that you were cute while dancing in the rain.

Because Clarke is Wanheda (Commander of death) she required to speak trigedaslang, you loved to help her learn the language and you learned her other languages that you learned on the Arc.

You didn't like to go with Clarke whenever she needed to go to a meeting in the towers of Lexa, because there was always yelling. But when you went with her she made always sure you were doing okay.

You and Clarke are a good match, because you will always take care of eachother and protect eachother whenever needed.

The more I watch 1x08 the more I realize how important the entire episode is in Ava's transition and the arc season 2 takes. To start prior to this episode I think to a degree Ava feels some kind of connection with Beatrice (especially given the halo exploding scene. Yes no one else was directly at risk by this point but we also never see Ava react that way unless Beatrice is in the line of fire even in s2). Anyways through the course of the training it's obvious that there's a degree of familiarity and comfort that's shared between them that's different than either girl's relationship with the others. Other than Mary Ava hasn't actually spent all that much time with the group. Cut to the "What you are is beautiful" scene. We see Ava for the first time genuinely apologetic (despite not really doing anything wrong) and we see her respond to Beatrice's confession with care and consideration and almost in a way a confession of her own.

I've rewritten this like ten times because there's so much about this episode that I find important but cut to the end and the scene that really hammers in the arc we see in season 2. We see Ava wake up having just had a nightmare where Shannon basically told her all warrior nuns die quickly and the mission has basically killed the family she found much like Ava and it's enough for Ava to say fuck the mission I only care about keeping the halo from having to pass to one of you (cue the whole who's next after me you scene). This is the first time that we see Ava not only accept the mission but actively driving towards a specific outcome as she transitions from "survival at any cost" to "I refuse to watch you die". The fact that we see in the same scene where Ava promises to be the last warrior nun Beatrice begging Ava to let her help her absolutely panicked at Ava's sudden breakdown just fits the narrative so well. I think Ava had already decided at this point it was always going to be her if Beatrice's life was on the line and it's fucking me up.

what do you think beatrice and ava's love languages are? (both how they prefer to receive and express love)

Okay so I go back and forth quite a bit on this because I think that the answer is a blend of physical touch and words of affirmation for them both. I think for Beatrice in terms of preferred love language to receive physical touch is important, so much of the show revolves around Beatrice reassuring herself through contact with Ava (Obviously also for Ava's benefit but I think a lot of it is for herself). Obviously this also ties into how she expresses love but I think that words of affirmation comes into play more with her expression of love. Think of the times she makes a point to tell Ava that she trusts her, that she's there, or specifically the scene where she talks Ava through the wall.

Ava on the other hand is similar. I think in terms of how she expresses it physical touch is more prominent, and I think some of that has to do with the fact that Ava utilizes a lot of sarcasm and humor in how she communicates and that isn't always necessarily beneficial to expressing her affection to Beatrice. In terms of receiving I think with Ava the balance is more even in wanting to receive love through physical touch and words of affirmation. Ava has spent a lot of time being told that she's useless or that she's a burden plus one of the first people to take an interest in her was abusing her trust for his own gain and I think while we didn't get to see if Beatrice spent a lot of the 2 months rebuilding Ava's sense of self-worth and confidence. That said as someone who spent a lot of time not being able to feel anything I think physical touch is obviously important to her as well.

Ultimately I think one of the reasons they work so well is they both share the same forms of preferred love languages and I think because of how in sync they are they know which the other needs in that moment.

It's the way in episode 1 Beatrice stands alone apart from everyone while Camila plays the piano. Her arms wrapped tightly around herself until Mary and Lilith sandwich her wrapping their arms around her. Because Shannon's gone and we know that Shannon's the first one who made Beatrice feel welcome. Even in the OCS Beatrice is isolated contained and it makes sense why she's so prone to anger in season 2 because her team her family has fractured apart in front of her eyes. Beatrice has watched her friends either die or turn. All she has is Ava, Camila, Yasmine, and Mother Superion and it's not enough but it's also everything and that above all else is the only reason she can't run away with Ava as much as she clearly wanted to.

After months of contemplating it, today, I decided to make a permanent dedication to a fandom/an actor that has had a massive impact on my young adult life through Bob’s perhaps, most well known sign off phrase: “be well, be kind” with a semi-colon for mental health awareness. I know that, even in the future when the show may not have as big of an impact as it does for me now, the quote is still something to live by and is relevant for my own mental health conditions that I battle on a daily basis.

And, yes, I may be incredibly excited about showing this to Bob at Collide.

i see this period referenced a lot as raven being cruel or unfair to clarke or as raven calling clarke out.                   honestly     - –––             i don’t think either of those things is what raven intended.

RAVEN: based on the new data i’d say we have two months of survivability. maybe less.  BELLAMY: the ark won’t be read. RAVEN: it’ll be close. if we triple the man hours &_ work round the clock we should be able to achieve a hard seal before the black rain comes. we just have to decide who gets to live here.  CLARKE: raven, we’re not talking about the list again.  RAVEN: clarke, we are running out of time. we have to make a plan for the day we close the doors, drill for it, make sure only the survivors have guns, agree on protocols for dealing with the people who are pissed off they weren’t chosen. you asked me to be in charge of rationing &_ i’m doing it but choosing who gets to live or die is your speciality.

raven’s attitude is harsh here     - –––             but i don’t think she’s actually angry at clarke or trying to hurt her.                   raven is trying desperately to think pragmatically &_ do what needs to be done to keep their people alive       [ … ]                 even if its only 100 of them.  the way raven interacts with clarke in the early part of season 4 is largely tied to her anger towards bellamy.                    [ a full meta on that can be found here. ]                    in short because bellamy made a choice which resulted in there only being enough resources to keep 100 people alive enormous pressure is placed on both clarke &_ raven.  throughout this period raven is short with a lot of people     - –––             simply due to the stress she is under.                   she’s certainly particularly hard on clarke.                   clarke asked raven to be in charge of rationing,                   when she was already in charge of repairing the ark &_ creating a seal     - –––             these are enormous tasks which weigh heavily on raven.  raven keeps pushing clarke to make the list because it has to be made &_ raven simply can’t handle doing it herself     - –––             emotionally or practically.                    in addition to being insanely busy raven has never had to make a choice of this scale before     - –––             but clarke has                    [ to some degree. ]                   to further complicate things raven has little faith in bellamy at this point in time     - –––             which means clarke is the only one she can trust to make this list.  there is some aggression towards clarke     - –––             but its not due to clarke’s past actions.       [ … ]                 raven is frustrated that again &_ again clarke refuses to even discuss making the list,                   or making other plans for how to deal with the situation they’re in.                   clarke’s refusal is likely because of her own trauma     - –––             which we can understand more clearly as viewers       [ … ]                 but to raven,                   it doesn’t make much difference     - –––             from her perspective they are stuck in this situation with only one way to survive.                   she is working as hard as she possibly can to make that solution work &_ she’s furious those around her aren’t doing the same.

I'm baffled seeing a lot of people in the fandom place value on characters only when they're on 'team clarke' and call them useless and irrelevant when they aren't pandering to her. they exist entirely as their own entity, usually they have their own conflicts, motivations and whole arcs that don't rely on clarke by any means though the writers do often advocate for clarke's hyper-importance in everything. Why would you limit yourself in such a way that your like/enjoyment of a character depends entirely on whether or not they serve to prop up someone else? You'll love these characters, but turn on them the moment they clash with someone else? Isn't that part of the fun? A stagnant dynamic is a boring one!

If a character you like making a snide remark towards your fav is enough to make you condemn them did you really even fw them to begin with?

I enjoyed Bell and Murphy antagonising one another just as much as I enjoy(ed) their teamwork. I loved them both through it all, even when I disagreed with some of the things they did and said; it was very entertaining, and their relationship became incredibly strong and complex as a direct result of these clashes between them!

Friendly reminder that Madi killed a bunch of people so that she could save some “random” ass people she saw fall from the sky and then proceeded to grab for her Dad’s Bellamy’s hand like it was the most natural thing she’s ever done and he went with because he adopted her the second she spoke of his wife aka, the love of his life, and then those two badass mother fuckers stormed their enemy’s camp in the rover that they both know how to drive just to go and rescue Clarke mother fucking Griffin.
