Clannibal Headcanons

Cause I’m mentally Ill… ���

- Hannibal got Clarice a dog since we all know she’s a dog person

- buttttt Clarice got Hannibal a cat and he said he didn’t want it but then like any cat-dad she often finds him reading the paper or a book with the cat on his lap

- he still says he hates the cat (we all know he doesn’t)

- They are big Disney adult HATERS

- That being said Clarice forced Hannibal to watch Beauty and the Beast and he just stared at her during the entire movie…

- I don’t care how many daddy issues Clarice has I cannot see her calling him daddy

- When they go to the US She got him to eat McDonald’s ONCE and he threw up and now she’s not allowed to pick where they eat in the US

- He’s a sucker for her and will buy her whatever she wants even if it’s something cheap (this isn’t much of a hc cause it’s most def canon)

- They’re definitely kinky in bed 🤭

- I feel (and this might not be a hc necessarily cause I don’t remember entirely) that Clarice a big outdoors person

- And with that… I think Hannibal would’ve taken her out to some beautiful place in some country on a hike to the most gorgeous outdoors site and proposed to her. But he couldn’t get the proposal out because he was confused on how to do it so she just looked at him and was like “Hannibal Lecter, are you proposing to me?”

- Sometimes Clarice jokes about the night he tried to brainwash her and he apologizes profusely and she just laughs

- He then reassures her that he doesn’t see her in that way at all

I had no idea that Hannibal was a novel originally. I'm shocked because the TV show is insanely popular, that I was considering watching it, not knowing that the novel is apparently better and also entirely different "characters"? Where can I read more about the shipping dynamic of Clarice and Hannibal, and how its a dark romance novel, I cant seem to find info online...

Benjamin Raspael's head was a canon Valentine's Day present from Hannibal to Clarice. Hannibal is drawn to Clarice because he values the purity of her idealism, even though he knows it will ultimately be her downfall. Clarice is sacrificed at the altar upon which she worships, the Almighty F.B.I. (the patriarchy) when she inevitably steps out of line, and Hannibal raises her back into grace at his side by the end of the novel.

I wish I was well-versed and eloquent enough to unpack this universe for you. It's out there, I promise. Read the fanfiction. This is a ship that attracts truly educated authors.

Looking through my AO3 account, it's been a little over 9 years since I published my first fic on there! So here's a throwback to the first fic I published on there in one of my ride or die fandoms (though not the first fanfic I ever wrote).

Second Intermission: Instead of leaving after the first intermission, Lillian convinces Barney Matthews to stay on for the rest of the opera opening night in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This decision leads to an uncomfortable encounter in the lobby during second intermission. This takes place during Chapter 102 of the "Hannibal" novel.

To go along with it, one of my favorite pieces of Clannibal fan art by one of my favorite Clannibal fan artists. All her stuff is well over a decade old now, but that doesn't change the beauty of it.

And may I just take a minute to pour one out to the crazy ass days on here when the Hannibal TV show was airing? Us book canon/Clannibal people who hated what the show did never heard the end of it from the Hannigrams for any criticism we gave the show. It's so weird to see people watching the show for the first time now actually have the same opinion on things as we did and get zero shit for it.

I write who my characters are and what they do. Some of them are scuzzbags, some are avaricious, some are well-meaning but irritating as fuck, and some are outright murderers.

Hugh said this in the past, so why did he change his answers completely? 🤔 I read one fan's speculation that it's because they're trying to bring back season 4 so they're trying to avoid controversy because Hannigram is not the healthiest ship. There was also some uproar when Clannibal became canon. I hope that's true and they're just trying to avoid controversy.

So, I do still pout that we never got the Clannibal book ending in the 2001 film (and because copyright is so bloody stupid we’re probably NEVER going to see that, not to mention the pearl-clutching if it ever could happen...) but THIS:

Clannibal Headcanons pt 2

Since a few asked.

- they once turned on schitts creek one night and somehow end up enjoying it and binged the entire show. (I’m biased cause I fucking love schitts creek😘)

- Clarice begged him to give her cooking lessons. He was reluctant cause he enjoys cooking for her and serving her. But he gave in cause he loves her

- Clarice isnt the best in the kitchen and accidentally cut herself once but that didn’t stop her from continuing the lessons.

- Hannibal got really “protective” though as he hates to see her in pain. (She wasn’t really in pain lmao)

- I think I saw this in another hc post but I agree so I’m adding it: one of the things they like in bed is knife play and they def use his harpy.

- When either of them get in a depressive state they’ll take a relaxing bath together and just lay there for hours without talking.

- Clarice is REALLY good at the silent treatment/cold shoulder when Hannibal’s in the doghouse

- Clarice told Hannibal to pose for a painting of himself (nude) he chuckled and let her and she actually surprised him with it being pretty good

- They definitely have a giant lavish painting of themselves in their home.

- okay specifically this one piece I saw on here by @orangebetel it’s absolutely stunning and idk I just can see them having it in their home.

- Hannibal likes to invite friends for dinner sometimes. Clarice participates occasionally only when there’s a frontal lobe for the main dish 🤭

- Hannibal picked up running to accompany Clarice some mornings on her daily run.

- Sometimes those runs get… well interrupted let’s just say. Much like some of their meals

This isn’t a head canon it’s a fanfic idea I have but if you’d like me to write it please let me know!!!! I’m not the best writer so if someone else wants to write it go ahead 😅

Do you think Hannibal was in love with Alana and Bedelia? The same way he was in love with Will? Or how do you see Hannibal's relationship with Alana and Bedelia compared to his intense love for Will?

Quick Disclaimer: For my followers who know I am a diehard Clannibal shipper in book/movie canon. I only ship Hannigram in the context of the TV show. I can enjoy more than one ship at a time.

Show Hannibal is complicated. Like in some ways I think he was obsessively in love with Will. But in others I have to doubt if that love was purely romantic. TV show Hannibal is portrayed as the devil in human form. So can the devil love? I think so.

I feel like his love for Will is an all consuming, obsessive kind of love. Whereas his affection for Alana and Bedelia are more for their intelligence and courage. I don't think he was in love with them like he was in love with Will. Like did he even love them? Did he not just use poor Alana as an alibi.

But then again he used book/movie canon line "I'll make no plans to call on you" to Alana in the season 2 finale. In book/movie canon that is addressed to Hannibal's book/movie canon love interest Clarice Starling. I'd say he held some sort of deep affection for her. He didn't want to see her hurt. So yeah, if he wasn't in love with her, he at least showed a great deal of respect for her in not killing her outright.

Show Hannibal's love for Will is obsessive and self-destructive. There is a passion between the two of them that just doesn't exist between Hannibal and Alana and Bedelia. It's toxic, not healthy, but I love it.

I should also make note that I only ship Hannigram in the context of the show. There's nothing really to ship in book/movie canon. Like maybe a few quips here and there, but Will ends up alone and a drunkard at the end of Red Dragon and isn't mentioned but once more in the Lecter series.

So yeah, TV Hannibal's love for Will was a disturbed passionate kind of love. Whereas his affection for Alana and Bedelia more stems from their intelligence and his need for an alibi.

OH MY GOD OK I had another head canon that I need to share

I believe clarice would not just be a dog person, no no no. Shed be fucking OBSESSED with dogs.

Now I thought about what dogs she would get which i hinted at in my last post. I finally decided the dogs bios

Theyd have 2 dogs and both would be ENORMOUS. Each dog would fit the personality of each person. I headcanon hannibal and clarice would be pagan and would view their respective dog as their familiar. In wicca a familiar is an animal that one feels a deep spiritual connection to. I'll save my head cannons about clannibal being pagan for another post tho, right now I wanna talk about DOGGOS

Clarice's dog is a newfie and rottweiler mix and her name is Leviathan or Levi for short. I'll explain the names in a bit dont worry lol

Hannibal's dog is a tibetan mastiff and his name is Behemoth or Bee for short.

Behemoth and Leviathan are the names of 2 legendary beasts in demonology and jewish mythology. Leviathan is a giant sea serpent and is one of the 7 demon princes of hell, him being the prince of envy and the guardian of hell. Behemoth is one of the primeval chaos monsters created by god and in jewish myth he is often paired with leviathan to represent the primeval beasts of earth and sea.

Why did I put so much thought into these names? It's totally not just cus I think they sound badass as fuck and I think the idea of naming two big ol' floof ball puppos after giant primordial chaos monsters is fucking hysterical.

Leviathan would be very very active and playful as is normal for pitbulls and she loves going for hikes. She and clarice's favorite pastimes are either hiking or training. Clarice as I mentioned in the last post would be borderline professional at dog training and would have both of the dogs very well trained. She even managed to conquer behemoth, a Tibetan-fucking-mastiff , a breed that is infamous for being insanely difficult to train because of their independence and stubbornness. Nevertheless, our brave and persistent clarice managed to teach behemoth simple and complex commands with great success.

Behemoth is a lot like hannibal, keenly observant, protective, secure, powerful, stoic, and very - sometimes even disturbingly - intelligent. He may seem very intimidating but when hes at home with his owners hes the most cuddly and loveable oversized dust bunny you've ever seen. He loves laying on hannibal and clarice's laps (especially hannibal though, like I said, they have a special connection). He seems to be aware of how much clarice adores his floof since he often uses it instead of doing puppy eyes when he begs for something. Hell rub his floofy head against clarice's hand and leg which she finds a thousand times harder to resist. He seems to have inherited hannibal's manipulation skills ;).

I would write more but it's getting late for me but I will likely write more about the puppos later!
