The forest around them fell silent, absorbing the sounds of their voices, as if the sky and earth were holding their breath, listening to what was about to happen. Claire stood before Jamie, feeling the cold seep into her fingers, but he, as always, was the first to embrace her hands with his, wrapping her in his warm palms as if to block the fear and despair that had taken hold of her heart. He looked at her as though he was trying to memorize every line, every feature of her face, to carry her image with him into eternity.
"Ye must go, Sassenach," he said softly, his voice holding such strength that the mountains themselves might tremble. "Feumaidh tu falbh, a’ bhana-choigreach. You must return to yer own time. Here, there's naught left for ye but darkness and war."
Claire looked at him, struggling with despair, with the force that seemed to draw her back to the stones. She did not want to leave him; she could not bear the thought of abandoning him to face a battle that would erase his presence from this world.
"I can't leave you, Jamie," she whispered, her voice shaking. "You are my life, my love, my light. I want to stay with you, even if it means the end."
He touched her cheek, running his warm hand over her face as if trying to wipe away her tears and at the same time remember the feel of her skin. Sadness flashed in his eyes, deep as the very ocean that would separate them. But Jamie would not allow himself to show weakness, understanding that his strength was her only anchor now.
"Ye must live for both of us, Claire," he said, his voice quiet but as firm as granite. "Fiù ged a tha sin a’ ciallachadh gum feum thu falbh. I need to ken that ye’ll be safe, that ye’ll live, breathe, despite all that lies ahead for me here. Air ar son fhèin, airson ar pàiste."
Her soul resisted. She tried to hold back, but tears rolled down her cheeks anyway. Claire reached for him as if lost in a desert, yearning for the last drop of water. But he continued to warm her hands, his fingers like an anchor, holding her in the moment, keeping her steady.
"I'll wait for you," she whispered, almost soundlessly, like a prayer sent to him and to fate. "In every moment, in every life. We will meet again. Come back to me, soldier."
Jamie released her hands but then embraced her shoulders one last time, pulling her close, as though his embrace could tear through the very fabric of time and space, saving them both from the inevitable. Then, slowly, carefully, he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers in a final kiss, full of despair, love, and forgiveness that would not die, even in the face of death.
"I will find ye, Sassenach," he said, letting her go, his voice steady and strong as the mountains surrounding them. "Ann an saoghal sam bith, ann an àm sam bith. Bidh mi gad shireadh gus an ruig mi ort a-rithist. Gus am faigh sinn a chèile."

July 8th 1911 saw the birth of Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, the Chief of Clan Fraser, Scottish aristocrat and soldier.
Lovat was involved in the formation of the Commandos, the Dieppe Raid and D-Day. As 24th Chieftain of Clan Fraser, Shimi – MacShimidh to give him his Gaelic title – was born into leadership. It was in his genes (David Stirling, his cousin, co-founded the SAS). Shimi Lovat’s military background ran back through generations of Frasers, including Simon Fraser, known as the Patriot, hung drawn and quartered at Tower Hill at Edward I’s orders, and Simon Lovat, The Old Fox, was beheaded after the 1745 rebellion, his character featured in the Outlander series
Shimi’s leadership qualities were tested to the limit on D-Day. The mission of 1st Commando Brigade – or 1st Special Service Brigade, as it was known in June 1944 – was to break through German defences on the eastern side of Sword Beach. At lightning speed, they were to fight their way four miles inland to Pegasus Bridge over the Caen Canal, and bring reinforcements to the 6th Airborne Division, relieving the glider-borne troops who had taken the bridge at dead of night.
Shimi and his commandos arrived just after the appointed hour of midday, to the swirl of pipes. He famously apologised for being two minutes late. The bridges were crucial; at the push of a detonator, the Germans could have destroyed them. With the Allied supply lines cut, the invasion could have foundered.
Plunging into further battles, Shimi was nearly killed four days later by Allied shrapnel and was given the last rites by Father René de Naurois. His last words as he handed over his brigade were: “Take over the Brigade and not a step back; not a step back!”

Sam Heughan in Outlander (2014) The Gathering
S1E4
The Gathering shows Claire's attempt at her first real planned escape. The run-ins she has with various characters on the way include a major run-in with Dougal, and yet another moment with Jamie alone - building their relationship. Also an oath-taking ceremony could have awful results if not handled carefully...
*Diana Gabaldon: The author of the Outlander series has an appearance as Iona MacTavish, a wealthy merchant's wife who exchanges words with Mrs. Fitz on the balcony in the hall.

Yes, Kira and her mother Brea are true heroines of Dark Crystal and because their clan Vapra Is the leader of the Clans of Gelfling and because they hold the piece of Crystal to help Jen and his parents Rian and Deet to banish the Darkening and to reunite the corpse of Mystics and SkekSis to made them return as Urskeks and because Brea speak with SkekOk at the beginning of TV Show, then SkekZok was present that The General SkekSis killed All-Maudra Mayrin but he wasn't present when Tavra tried to kill the general to avenge the death of her mother and then SkekSil, the real villain, came to killed her and before SkekEkt bullies Seladon stealing her dark crown and After SkekAyuk and the General reveals at Seladon that they are draining Gelfling and Is that because SkekSil, SkekEkt and SkekAyuk recognize Kira like the Daughter of Brea, the niece of Tavra and Seladon and the granddaughter of All-Maudra Mayrin and so SkekZok too almost killed Kira Remember that the General killed her grandmother All-Maudra. So Lisa Maxwell was blonde and She was playing a TV Series about a school in the role of a student when She was 13. Anya Taylor-Joy Is blonde too and She was great thanks to The Witch, Split, Playmobil and Super Mario Bros. Helena Bohan Carter was too great because She Is a true Queen Fairy thanks to Cinderella Which One with Cate Blanchett and the wonderful performance about Tudor and Windsor family. Gugu Mbatha-Raw too was super great thanks to Beauty and the Beast Which One with Emma Watson and Belle a movie with Tom Felton(yup and because Helena Bohan Carter, Jason Isaac, Emma Watson and Tom Felton were played in Harry Potter). Caitriona Balfe too was great thanks to Outlander and because Stephen Garlick played Bert the orphan from Macbeth a miniseries from 1970 and that Is look alike that Little Jen went to Scotland that Kira told him about It and even Jamie Fraser that he was the Old friend of her aunt Tavra. When Macbeth and his wife tried to adopt him, Jen use the Power of Sanctuary to kill them to avenge the death of his parents Rian and Deet and so he was actually taken from his mother Deet that She Is proud for him Remember that She and Rian banish the Darkening killing SkekSo the Emperor of the SkekSis. Heughan’s voice is as smooth as his whisky. His latest venture is his multi-award-winning whisky and gin, ‘The Sassenach’, the Gaelic word for ‘outsider’. He feels he is an outsider to the industry, but the idea behind the name seems to have emerged from his mother, who is an English artist and was called ‘Sassenach’ when she arrived in New Galloway, and in Outlander, Jamie Fraser calls his wife Sassenach as s term of endearment. “The name is very special to me,” he tells me.
Perhaps the video he recorded at Everest Base Camp was for his mother ?She's on IG too and we know Sam loves her so much and sometimes doesn't call her Mum but Chrissie. Cait is not a Sassenach because she's Irish. Sam calling her the Original Sassenach it's because of her character, Claire and he recently stated Caitriona is nothing like Claire (SheKnows interview). Either way it's not a big deal so don't blame me. It's just a thought and cute anyway .
Dear Sassenach Anon,
Let me count the ways. Quoting from memory first we had ' She [C] is the original Sassenach' (at one of the seasons' premieres in London, where he brought a bottle and waxed lyrical to the press over it). Then, we had 'Sassenach means foreigner in Scots Gaelic and it's a term of endearment of Jamie Fraser, the character I am playing in OL, for his wife' (numerous times for various media outlets). Then, 'I am the Sassenach, I always felt as an outsider, but also Jamie Fraser's term of endearment for his wife, Claire' (ditto). And then 'the name emerged from his mother who is an English artist and was called ‘Sassenach’ when she arrived in New Galloway, and in Outlander, Jamie Fraser calls his wife Sassenach as s term of endearment.'
The Arbuturian is a well regarded online magazine, founded in 2009 and based in London. It looks and reads to me as The New Yorker's slightly more plebeian, younger cousin of sorts - check their masthead mascot...
... and remember (ROFLMAO) The New Yorker's Eustace Tilley, its illustrious inspiration:
By the way, Eustace Tilley, one of my favorite dandies, was itself inspired by an engraving of the French count Alfred d'Orsay, by a certain... James Fraser, sometime around 1830. I kid you not and yes, totally Clan Fraser, born near Inverness:
Can't make this shite up, even if you wanted, huh?
Anyways, back to your question and this little media outlet that could. Its targeted audience is, according to Wikipedia:
In sociological lingo, AB means an educated mid-to high level management audience, with a hefty disposable income to boot (usually more than 1 million £/year net revenue). All it takes is a short stroll through their Lifestyle pages: according to them, among this year's most sought after Xmas gifts gimmicks are a Turnbull & Asser silk pocket square (£75) for him or a £200 voucher for Fairmont Windsor Park’s Ultimate Diamond Facial, for her.
This interview's one and only raison d'être was to sound appealing to this particular dinkie (double income, no kids) Generation X audience, especially as far as his booze was concerned. For he was on booze promo mode here and he obviously twisted a bit whatever (I repeat: whatever) his real motivation behind the brand name might have been to the least controversial possible version. It's hard to question or throw shite at this mum version, let alone at a version involving a heroic single parent as Chrissie H, let alone at Christmas time. This allowed him, at the same time, to elegantly keep his personal life away and separate between business and private: something he should have been doing since the very start. But S is a sentimental man and a people pleaser - we all know that, don't we?
It was important for S to be featured in this London online magazine, read by the same people he was once serving drinks to, at parties. It's all about aspirations, social climbing and being a part of that crowd. Finally!
And you, darling, are a troll, despite your protesting. I nevertheless hope this answered your very transparently targeted question, in the spirit of Christmas. Otherwise, it would have landed in the bin, where it probably belongs.
PS: Caitriona is Caitriona, probably nothing like Claire, indeed and thank God! Being 'like Claire Fraser' was certainly not what prompted the coup de foudre - I daresay, quite the contrary. Sorry, darling, to pop your bubble, but this is not exactly how the real world works.
Later edit: if the entire Everest trek was something 'just for himself', then the recorded video was also 'just for himself'. The reason he posted it on Instagram was to probably childishly rejoice/brag he finally made it and damn the consequences. Use a bit of logic.

From Outlander to intrepid hiker to whisky distiller, Sarah Tucker meets a warrior spirit in actor and entrepreneur Sam Heughan…
There is something of the poet adventurer in Sam Heughan, the actor best known for his eleven-year tenure as the handsome Jacobite warrior Jamie Fraser in the series Outlander, who meets and falls in love with time-travelling 20th-century nurse Claire Beauchamp, played by Caitriona Balfe.
Meeting him, albeit over a zoom call, I get the feeling this is a man who never sits still, is eternally curious about life, has boundless intellectual as well as physical energy – a doer who enjoys getting his hands dirty.
“I don’t think Fraser would like me,” Heughan commented recently, “He would consider me a stupid actor.” I disagree. When Heughan speaks about his life, and work, he shows a keen sense of purpose, practicality and determination. He shows a wit and versatility which makes him resourceful. All qualities of which Jamie Fraser would approve.
Heughan’s deep-rooted passion for Scotland and all things Scottish is evident in how his face lights up when he describes the mysterious landscapes he has encountered while working on Outlander and Men in Kilts. The images he conjures are visceral.
“My uncle, for a time, lived on the Isle of Eigg, and there’s a group of Islands, Muck, Mull, Rum, really interestingly-named places, lying south of Skye. My family would visit every summer; catch a ferry across to the Isle of Eigg and see the landscape completely differently. Once we hit the North Sea, I would feel like an explorer. The Ferry was the only way to get around before the [English] military built the roads. The clans controlled the ocean.”
From the standing stones of Clanais on the Isle of Lewis, where Outlander was filmed to the Schiehallion, one of Scotland’s most popular munros, he seems bewitched by the legends as much as the energy surrounding these places
Although he admits the final chapter on Outlander left a void in his schedule (the crew became like a family, the wrap party was held outdoors with bagpipes and a ceilidh), in December he will be in Nepal, trekking up Everest to Base Camp (the hard way) with acclaimed mountaineer Jake Norton. He met Norton while preparing for a role in a film about the explorers Stanley Irvine (1902 – 1924) and George Mallory (1886 – 1924), whose ill-fated attempt on Everest has gone down in history. Norton was on the team that found Mallory’s remains in 1999. Irvine’s partial remains were only found earlier this year.
“We will be trekking through a lesser-known valley that no one has ever been to before, which will mean reaching a 19,000-foot ridge and rappelling down into the valley, so that will be quite an experience. I’m terrified, but I have a great respect for that mountain. I am not doing this for television or film – I am just doing this for myself.”
“Five years back, I travelled a lot, and I remember being in a bar in London. It was a Scottish celebration of some sort – St Andrews Day or perhaps Burns Night. There was a single malt on the bar’s top shelf, and as soon as I tasted it, it reminded me of Scotland. I have an emotional reaction to it, but with other spirits, less so. It made me feel quite homesick. It is Scotland in a bottle…it is personality in a bottle.”
Watching Heughan talk about the whisky, the research which goes into it, the foibles of flavour, which leaving it outdoors, or adding water or ice to it, has on the ABV (alcohol content), it is clear he enjoys learning about the alchemy of the blending possibly even more than he does enjoy drinking the final product. He talks of the influence of the terroir and water, how he likes the taste to weigh heavy on the palate, and the influence of Asian whisky on the final blend with its balance of butterscotch, honey, crab apple, rhubarb, which reminds him of picking the fruit from his mother’s garden.
Something of the ghost of Jamie Fraser has lingered in this entrepreneur. As Heughan admits himself, he has been playing someone else for eleven years, and observing him talk about Scotland and The Sassenach brand, he appears to have captured some of that warrior spirit. Or perhaps, it is the other way round, and he injected his own spirit into the character.
Sam Heughan reached Everest based camp on Friday 20th December.
