If I need to be inpatient, in the hospital...

University of Miami Hospital is the place for me.

In fact, I am going to extend my stay until a Friday or Saturday. So far this has been one of the very best hospitals I have had the privilege to be in. Since the beginning I have been in the hospital more than 20 times. All over the State of Florida. Here at @uhealth-blog University of Miami Hospital.

About two and a half years ago, my own (very strong) Immune system turned on me. Ultimately what it comes down to is an extremely rare genetic autoimmune inflammatory process and tissue disease. Essentially and even in spite of multiple forms of Chemotherapeutic autoimmune suppression ongoing, I have yet to achieve a real and lasting meaningful remission. What happens essentially is that my own immune system attacks my body. I have and live with multiple types some severe of pain, have lost some of my vision, my hearing, had minor strokes in my brain, damage to my nerves, and damage to my lungs. I have many diagnoses which are essentially correct but it is all of them: Lupus, CIDP, Susac’s Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, multiple Strokes including Lacunar Infatcs, Branch Retinal Arterial Occlusion, and Sensoral Neurovascular, Multiple Peripheral Neuropathy, COPD and Intististial lung disease, etc etc etc.

Most recently I loss the hearing in my right ear, most likely caused by another stroke to my ear. I came to Miami, University of Miami School of Neurology to meet with my extraordinary Dr. and professor of Vascular Neurology, Dr Asdaghi. She is one of the two doctors out of all of them, whom has this far saved my life and attempted to forge new ground, in an almost unheard of condition and disease. After searching all over the state for the right hospital that could save me, I came very close to death in 2017, and have been disabled since the end of 2016. The other Dr., my Rheumotoligist Dr Howard Busch DO from Jupiter Florida was the first to begin aggressively to treat my disease and save my life. He also collaborates very closely with the rest of my team at U of M. Needless to say I have been in the care of hundreds and likely thousands of health care professionals over the past 2.5 years.

This Organization UHealth, University of Miami Hospital, and the entire U of M medical school, clearly on the cutting edge of science at the same time as truly treating those who many others have no idea how to handle. The staff here, from the Doctor’s to the Nurses, Aides, Management, Technicians and the list goes on. Anyone suffering from severe Autoimmune Inflammatory disease not satisfied with your care, do yourself a favor and consult with them. I get nothing for saying this but only hope it will help you.

Anyway, looks like it’s time to bring out the Nuclear Bomb of Autoimmune Suppression. I currently am on 6 types of chemotherapeutic medicines. Most recently my disease has taken another turn for the worse. With the stroke in my right ear defenning me completely in my right ear about a week ago (2/28/2019), and my disease activated which almost certainly means it is just not only destroying my hearing, but working on other systems. So I have decided to go with the collaborative recommendation to stop or temporarily stop and go through the Susac’s protocol switching to Cyclophosphamide.

Consequently I am taking on some risk, for the potential rewards. I will be here until the end of the week anyhow. I am thankful to have so many talented, willing and able amazing human beings around me dedicated to the health of humankind. Thank you all that I can attribute to helping make this experience in life possible. This is not a complaint post, in fact quite the opposite in fact. It is a letter of tribute if anything and an update on my story as it continues.
