The Truth about Ukraine
Ukraine is essentially a giant CIA base, posing as a sovereign nation.
The CIA moved into Ukraine after the fall of the Soviet Union, looking to take advantage of the lawless and destabilized country, using it as an offshore proxy, outside the scope of US oversight.
It began with the Nunn-Lugar Act in 1991, and then carried on into 2005, when then Senators Obama and Lugar visited Ukraine, to inspect the former Soviet bio, chemical, and nuclear facilities (pictured below), and then added Ukraine to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and began turning these former Soviet facilities into “defensive research facilities”, which opened the door for US contractors to establish their foothold in Ukraine, and set up their money laundering and racketeering operations, under the guise of “foreign aid”.
Then the CIA funded Nazi militant groups in Ukraine which led to the outbreak of civil war in 2014 in the Donbas. Amidst the chaos, the US State Department, via Victoria Nuland, leveraged the situation to install US-loyal puppets, including the infamous leaked phone call between her and fellow State Department bureaucrat Geoffrey Pyatt, about ensuring “their guy” Yatsenuik, was installed as Prime Minister. The State Department, in tandem with the CIA, covertly took control of Ukraine via Color Revolution in 2014.
Putin recognized this. He knew that the US had destabilized and taken control of Ukraine, and recognized that the US were building a proxy army on his border, by funding, training, and supplying Ukraine with weapons, and trying to bring them into NATO. This was a red line for Putin, as he has said for decades. Russia have been invaded from the West too many times before, and will not tolerate a hostile standing army and long-range missiles on their border. Just like the US didn’t like it when Russia tried to put nukes in Cuba in the 60’s, Russia doesn’t like the US trying to bring armies and weapons to Ukraine.
Essentially, Ukraine is an unofficial US territory and NATO member, and the Deep State do not want to lose out on their cash cow and strategic asset that is Ukraine, hence why they continue to send hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to protect Ukraine’s border. They are using Ukraine as a laundry mat to funnel in hundreds of billions for the war machine, and also covering up their extreme criminality in Ukraine, including crimes against humanity for bioweapon development, human trafficking, drug trafficking, etc. All the things they can’t get away with stateside, they do in Ukraine.
If the public knew the truth about the origins of US involvement in Ukraine, they would NEVER have supported sending a single penny to Ukraine. The narrative that Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022 “unprovoked”, is war propaganda to make it appear Ukraine are the righteous defenders in order to garner your support, when in reality, The US started this conflict, they are the ones who brought war to Putin’s doorstep, and the US are the ones perpetuating the war by continuing to fund and supply Ukraine.
Putin does not want to conquer all of Europe, he just wants NATO off of his border, and justice for US development of weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine, namely, gene-specific biological weapons.

Tuskegee Airman Luther Ambrose Goodwin (April 17, 1920 - January 5, 1982) civil rights activist and attorney was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Hilliard E. Goodwin, a college instructor and building contractor, and Helen H. Goodwin. His family moved to Bakersfield, California. He attended Bakersfield Junior College before transferring to UCLA where he befriended future politician George E. Brown, Jr., who became the first Black-white dormitory roommate pairing. He was on the track team.
He married Joye Speights (1944). WWII interrupted his studies at UCLA. He completed flight training school at Tuskegee and began flying bombers in the Army Air Corps. He survived a crash landing at Goodman Field. In the post-war era, he piloted both propeller and jet aircraft for the military until his return to the classroom at UC Berkeley. Upon earning his BS in accounting he pursued a JD at UC Hastings College of Law. He was hired as San Francisco’s second Black Deputy District Attorney General.
His career as deputy DA ended abruptly, he and his wife, a nurse and civil rights activist, took part in an anti-racism demonstration in the city in which hundreds were arrested. They relocated to El Cajon, California. He partnered with former Little Rock NAACP president Thaddeus Williams to launch the law firm of Williams and Goodwin. His most publicized case was People v. Jordan in which he successfully defended militant student Fania Davis Jordan, the sister of activist Angela Davis. He was a founding member of the San Diego ACLU and he was a board member of the Family Service Association of America.
He established the law firm of Goodwin & Fisher which dissolved after his son, Ralph, made headlines for participating in the hijacking of a TWA plane to Cuba. They moved to Tanzania with their two daughters. He was appointed to head the underdeveloped nation’s Department of Natural Resources. He went blind while in Tanzania; Ralph drowned in Cuba; and his daughter Victoria died of cancer. He found work as a legal advisor and worked with Congressman George Brown Jr. He returned to San Diego. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

A woman in BC took matters into her own hands and sued an entire village over a sewage incident.
The village in question is Tahsis, BC, located around 300 km northwest of Victoria.
The woman took the village of Tahsis to the BC Civil Resolution Tribunal after sewage got backed up into her sink and tub. She claimed that the village was responsible.
Rita Ann Aedan was the impacted homeowner, and she suggested she was owed $3,701.60 for costs related to investigating and repairing the sewage blockage. She represented herself, while Tahsis was represented by an officer, who claimed it actually wasn’t the village’s fault that the sewage system got blocked and impacted her home.
The tribunal member overseeing the small claims case was Sherelle Goodwin, who noted that Tahsis submitted no documentary evidence.
Aedan discovered sewage backup in her bathtub, toilet, and kitchen sink in January 2022. She then hired a contractor to investigate the source of the jam. The contractor revealed an uncapped cement sewer clean-out clogged with debris, plus an old clay pipe that had broken off the clean-out. These facts were supported by photos that Aedan submitted.
The contractor repaired the clean-out and replaced the broken pipe, which cost Adean $3,071.60.
Aedan felt that the village should’ve paid for the investigation and repair costs since it was responsible for maintaining and repairing the municipal sewer system.
Tahsis, meanwhile, claimed that Aedan was responsible under the village’s bylaws.
Aedan provided a statement from the contractor, which said that the impacted fixtures weren’t actually on her lot but on a neighbouring lot.
After reviewing the relevant bylaws and analyzing where the fault occurred, Goodwin found Tahsis was responsible.
As a result, Goodwin ordered the village of Tahsis to pay Aedan $3,324.90, which included the original $3,071.60 she paid for the investigation and repair, $52.49 in pre-judgment interest, and $200 in CRT fees.

Arknights: Healthcare on Terra
In Ursus, the Infected are used as slave labor until they die, and political dissidents or unwanted peoples are forced into slave labor that makes them Infected.
Even for normal diseases and infirmities, the nobility and military of Ursus retain the best doctors, while the working class have to hope anyone who learns enough medicine to help them will take their meager offers in trade rather than forsake them to seek employment to the nobility.
Leithania and Victoria and Sargon are the same as Ursus, save that they usually don’t use slave labor for Originium-related industries, and generally only shove the Infected into quarantine zones and leave them to die eventually.
In Columbia, the sick of the working class and the Infected have a choice that they don’t have anywhere else: They can suffer and die, or they can pay for treatment the likes of which only the nobility of other countries could access.
Columbia is much worse than it could be for all of the same reasons that every other country is much worse than they could be, but I think Columbia should be fairly compared against those available alternatives rather than to a Perfect Utopia that doesn’t exist even on Terra.
I don’t think the question should be “why is Columbia so bad?”, but rather “why is everywhere but Columbia worse?” Or “Why is Columbia, as bad as it is, actually better than all of the others?”
Even in Arknights, Columbia is seen as a place of opportunity where most of the world’s immigrants settle to find something better than the totalitarian alternatives.
Columbia certainly pretends to be better than it is, and many immigrants definitely buy into the illusion that it will be utopia, but characters like Roberta and Big Bob go there knowing full well that “better than the alternatives” doesn’t mean they won’t have to struggle. Only that they have a better chance of reaping the rewards of their struggle in Columbia than anywhere else, as well as living to enjoy those rewards.
The Elephant In The Room: Rhodes Island
Obviously, the only better option in Arknights to compare Columbia against is Rhodes Island itself.
Leaving aside whether anything like Rhodes Island could actually succeed in reality rather than in a fictional story where the premise demands it must succeed...
Kal’tsit herself reminds the player that Rhodes Island is not a charity, and it must sell its treatments to the people who can most afford to pay them, which generally means the nobility of the world. Rhodes Island wants to help all of the sick and Infected in the world but literally cannot afford to do so.
Members of the working class can usually only afford treatment at Rhodes Island by becoming employees at Rhodes Island. It’s practically indentured servitude, because they will die if they leave.
This is especially true given that, other than the medical staff of Rhodes Island, the best-paid employees (and thus the ones that can afford the most healthcare) are combat Operators who risk their lives as part of Rhodes Island’s unofficial Private Military Contractor branch.
And the only reason Rhodes Island exists in the first place is because the last reigning monarch of Kazdel devoted the resources of her country towards archeologically digging up a landship that was apparently designed and built by some sort of Precursor Civilization, while guided by the Doctor (possibly the last survivor of that civilization) and Kal’tsit (an ancient polymath herself).
Heck, most of the original employees of Rhodes Island (the old Babel crew) probably worked for next to nothing in terms of a paycheck simply because they had nowhere else to go and they wanted to continue serving Theresa’s cause and heir apparent.

South Villa is a five-story penthouse in the award-winning Clifton Terraces apartments on Victoria Road, Cape Town. Its elevated position on the iconic Lion’s Head takes in extravagant ocean views and local landmarks such as Table Mountain and Clifton’s pristine beaches. The terraced form of the building is designed by SAOTA. Deep overhangs and a restrained natural palette of materials blend into the beautiful natural surroundings while landscaped terraces on each level ensure that the building will settle even more effectively into its environment over time. The building mimics the existing contours of the site, sensitively ensuring that the views from neighbouring sites were unaffected or even improved. The interior décor and interior architecture, by ARRCC and OKHA, has stylistic connections to the style moderne movement of the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 30s. Photography by Adam Letch, Niel Vosloo.
.
Each apartment effortlessly binds state-of-the-art technologies into the fabric of its functionality and existence with 24/7 security, services, and amenities that afford a lock-up-and-go lifestyle for summer or all-year-round living. Through the seamlessly integrated home automation system, almost any aspect of the villa can be remotely controlled and personalized, including the lift, pool and Wi-Fi.
“What started out as a normal interior architecture brief quickly evolved into my passion project with a focus on coupling global design and South African art and craftsmanship,” says the international client. The client felt it was a natural choice to work with ARRCC and OKHA on reimagining South Villa’s interior architecture and interior design respectively. “SAOTA, ARRCC and OKHA are each thought leaders in their own rights and as a group, their skills and strengths are even further compounded,” he adds.
Entering Clifton Terraces via its stone-clad reception area, a private lift ascends six levels to the penthouse and opens to a hallway featuring a full panel of Fantasy marble before reaching the private lobby of the penthouse. Here, a provocative layering of oak and brass inlay accents, together with charcoal grey ribbed timber skirting converge in a backlit slab of Verde Fume Onice Onyx beneath a shadow skylight and LED-lit walls.
Exiting the lift into South Villa, a classic clad steel mesh door leads into a double volume living area that features warm bronze and glass installations such as the feature staircase. ARRCC director Jon Case says, “Classical wall detailing has been given new life with a contemporary colour pallet introducing moody greys, deep blues and textured green finishes.” The living area in turn opens onto a 150 sqm terrace that boasts a raised rectangular heated pool that affords 360-degree, year-round views of Clifton and Table Mountain.
The penthouse doubles as a private art gallery, curated by OKHA in collaboration with the client and features works from galleries such as SMAC, What If the World and Southern Guild. Featured artists include the likes of Chris Soal, Galia Gluckman, Michele Mathison, Alexandra Karakashian, Mongezi Ncaphayi, Pierre Vermeulen, Chuma Maweni and Atang Tshikare.
There is a broad range of custom-designed OKHA furniture pieces featured in key areas throughout the apartment; from the master bedroom and the dining room to the formal lounge and lobby. Stand-out pieces include the double trapezoid-shaped Morpheus Dining Table and the ViA console in the lobby. Taking their cue from the architecture, OKHA’s emphasis was intentionally placed on the power of form, mass and materiality.

What exactly are project management and construction management services?

Sustainable wildlife centre opens in 26-mile long Essex country park
NEWS FEATURES FIRE & SECURITY SUBMISSIONS RESOURCES
A brand-new wildlife discovery centre has opened in Essex’s River Lee Country Park – using fully recyclable materials that will reduce the building’s impact on landfill waste.
The £700,000 development has replaced the former Bittern Information Point, which, after 30 years, had run the course of its lifespan. The new centre offers far-reaching, 360-degree views of the surrounding area from the five-metre viewing tower, allowing bird watchers and nature lovers to take a closer look at the wildlife in the park, which is situated in the 26-mile-long Lee Valley Regional Park – stretching from the Thames to Hertfordshire.
Property, construction and infrastructure consultancy Perfect Circle – a company jointly owned by Pick Everard, Gleeds and AECOM – was appointed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority through SCAPE, the leading public sector procurement authority, to provide project management, structural engineering, principal design, civil engineering and upfront QS costings to the project. The works were accelerated by SCAPE Consultancy, a direct award framework that drives collaboration, efficiency, time and cost savings.
Victoria Brambini, managing director of Perfect Circle, said: “We are delighted to have worked alongside Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, architects Andris Berzins & Associates, and contractor Carmelcrest Construction for this project, which has breathed new life into River Lee Country Park.
“Wartime bombing, changes in industry and post-war reconstruction meant that more than 50 years ago, the area surrounding the River Lee was derelict and neglected. But over the past five decades, the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority has been dedicated to transforming the area into a world-class destination.
“The centre – located on a remote site between two rivers – comes complete with a CCTV system and live nest boxes, which will provide undisturbed, close-up access to the area’s wildlife for visitors of all ages. The coronavirus pandemic has shown us how much people value open spaces and the ability to get close to nature, so we are expecting it to become one of the most popular areas to visit for both the local community and tourists.”
As well as providing an area for the community and tourists to appreciate the wildlife and the Eurasian bittern bird – a Biodiversity Action Plan species – there is a fully accessible information point and a two-tier viewing area at ground level, with a separate wildlife information room. The centre is also equipped with ramps and lifts to make it accessible to all.
Fully sustainable materials were used to construct the centre – reducing its impact on landfill waste once the building reaches the end of its design life in half a century.
Hannah Hamilton, regional partner for the south east at Perfect Circle, said: “The overriding ambition for the scheme was to refrain from using any concrete so the materials can be recycled when the building reaches the end of its life and to be conscious and protective of local wildlife habitats.
“All materials can be dismantled, reused and recycled; the helical piles can be unscrewed and reused, all timber elements can be chipped and used for biofuel, gabion retaining walls can be reused, and the foundations can be recycled because they aren’t composed of concrete.
“The innovative facility demanded sustainable materials for sub-structure and super-structure elements to overcome difficult site constraints – the area is located on a remote site between two rivers with limited access – and Covid-19 restrictions.
“The structural design, led by Pick Everard associate Jayesh Patel, incorporated off-site construction techniques – including Keller helical piles, pre-fabricated glulam beams, and spliced steel framing – to reduce manual handling risks, construction waste and improve site logistics.
“The construction programme also had to take into account bird migration patterns and nesting, with construction activities being monitored for noise to minimise disruption to the local wildlife, such as bird migration and nests.”
Mark Robinson, group chief executive at SCAPE, said: “It’s clearer than ever that communities need green open spaces with facilities that enhance their quality of life. It is wonderful to see these collaborative teams are so enthusiastically embracing sustainable design and construction principles to encourage development that supports the biodiversity and wildlife within the local area. With these principles at heart, Perfect Circle and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority have delivered a community asset that sets a positive example.
“In addition, this project demonstrates the benefits of using a direct award framework to access the very best technical expertise to solve these kinds of complex challenges with innovation and a keen eye on high quality, sustainable delivery.”

Makani’ Eka Retreat
Design: Walker Warner Architects
Location: The Big Island, Hawaii, Central Pacific, United States of America
Makani’ Eka is set atop a hardened lava flow with views of sky, sun, and water, this family compound strikes a balance between modernity and tradition. Old and new ebb and flow through a simple composition of small structures linked by a lush courtyard and a series of walkways and patios. Composed of four independent structures, including a cedar-clad main living pod, the siting balances the desire to host friends and family as well as privacy.
Architecture and interiors are modern yet rely heavily on traditional materials and touchstones. “We think of it as a village,” notes Greg Warner, of the arrangement, a grouping of four separate structures. The home is built to rest gently in the landscape but also to last for generations. “We execute enduring archi¬tecture—in the sense of material quality but also livability,” Warner says. “We have high hopes for the legacy of this project.”
Traditional Hawaiian villages, typically organized in loose clusters, inspired both 1.5-acre site plan and the architectural style. The composition of canted steel columns, steep-pitched roofs, and rhomboidal window and door openings “represent a contemporary interpretation of early Hawaiian hale shelters,” Warner says. “They’re like modernist lean-tos.” The compound is surrounded by a field of lava and native grasses.
The main living pod is pushed to the edge of the sea, while the supporting structures, containing the two guest suites and communal relaxation areas, are set back, deeper in the property. Guest suite bedrooms open onto concrete-walled private courts for additional seclusion. The arrangement assumes that the three-bedroom residence feel expansive and take advantage of the views.
The structures housing the master suite and the main living areas are located on the site’s ocean side. Set back deeper in the property are pods containing the two guest suites and communal relaxation areas. Bedrooms open onto concrete-walled private courts for additional seclusion. Interiors encompass approximately 4,800 square feet, but the arrangement makes the three-bedroom residence feel expansive.
The use of heavily mortared lava rock was inspired by the historic Mokuaikaua Church, located in nearby Kailua. Windows are framed in stained sapele mahogany. Western red cedar serves as the dominant wood—both for cladding and the roof shingles—since it resists heat, moisture, and insects. Inside, stained and lightly polished concrete flooring keeps things cool during the day.
Inside spaces flow seamlessly to outside. Sapele-framed sliders glide open to the elements, and operable windows swivel to coax in the breeze and encourage cross ventilation. “The living room unfurls to become porch-like,” Warner adds, noting the continuity of floor and ceiling materials between interiors and adjacent alfresco spaces. The degree of openness led Marion Philpotts-Miller of Philpotts Interiors to favor “indestructible” solution-dyed acrylic upholstery for much of the casual furniture.
A Lee Kelly oil on canvas animates the living room’s assemblage of Christian Liaigre furnishings, including an oak lamp and sofa and wenge lounge chairs; the ceiling slats are bleached Douglas fir. The kitchen’s island and table are topped in honed Cararra marble. Custom surfboards—one hand-painted, the other crafted of paulownia—hang above the rec room’s Eero Saarinen table.
Philpotts-Miller sought to capture the “adventurous nature” of the clients. “The use of color is very playful and dynamic,” she says. In the rec room, for instance, custom surfboards are mounted on the wall like artworks. A koi pond is the focal point of the courtyard between the main living and master suite pods. The scheme is no-frills, simple, and airy, with a midcentury vibe that Philpotts-Miller explains was inspired by the work of Hawaiian modernist Vladimir Ossipoff. “Because the architecture is so thoughtfully put together and there’s so much natural texture, we didn’t need to load up the interiors,” Philpotts-Miller continues.
The master bedroom is likewise grounded with earthy, timber-toned accents—whitewashed wood wall paneling, a walnut bench—and also lifted via a sky-blue rug and throw pillows. The master bedroom’s bench is walnut. Concrete walls and cedar slats enclose the custom cast-concrete tub standing in the courtyard off the master bathroom. Flooring in the master bathroom and throughout is polished, stained concrete. A niche in the master bedroom features a chair by Naoto Fukasawa. The master suite’s study culminates in a sitting area with a Charles and Ray Eames lounger offering Maui views.

Here’s a Way to Learn if Facial Recognition Systems Used Your Photos When tech companies created the facial recognition systems that are rapidly remaking government surveillance and chipping away at personal privacy, they may have received help from an unexpected source: your face. Companies, universities and government labs have used millions of images collected from a hodgepodge of online sources to develop the technology. Now, researchers have built an online tool, Exposing.AI, that lets people search many of these image collections for their old photos. The tool, which matches images from the Flickr online photo-sharing service, offers a window onto the vast amounts of data needed to build a wide variety of A.I technologies, from facial recognition to online “chatbots.” “People need to realize that some of their most intimate moments have been weaponized,” said one of its creators, Liz O’Sullivan, the technology director at the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, a privacy and civil rights group. She helped create Exposing.AI with Adam Harvey, a researcher and artist in Berlin. Systems using artificial intelligence don’t magically become smart. They learn by pinpointing patterns in data generated by humans — photos, voice recordings, books, Wikipedia articles and all sorts of other material. The technology is getting better all the time, but it can learn human biases against women and minorities. People may not know they are contributing to A.I. education. For some, this is a curiosity. For others, it is enormously creepy. And it can be against the law. A 2008 law in Illinois, the Biometric Information Privacy Act, imposes financial penalties if the face scans of residents are used without their consent. In 2006, Brett Gaylor, a documentary filmmaker from Victoria, British Columbia, uploaded his honeymoon photos to Flickr, a popular service then. Nearly 15 years later, using an early version of Exposing.AI provided by Mr. Harvey, he discovered that hundreds of those photos had made their way into multiple data sets that may have been used to train facial recognition systems around the world. Flickr, which was bought and sold by many companies over the years and is now owned by the photo-sharing service SmugMug, allowed users to share their photos under what is called a Creative Commons license. That license, common on internet sites, meant others could use the photos with certain restrictions, though these restrictions may have been ignored. In 2014, Yahoo, which owned Flickr at the time, used many of these photos in a data set meant to help with work on computer vision. Mr. Gaylor, 43, wondered how his photos could have bounced from place to place. Then he was told that the photos may have contributed to surveillance systems in the United States and other countries, and that one of these systems was used to track China’s Uighur population. “My curiosity turned to horror,” he said. How honeymoon photos helped build surveillance systems in China is, in some ways, a story of unintended — or unanticipated — consequences. Years ago, A.I. researchers at leading universities and tech companies began gathering digital photos from a wide variety of sources, including photo-sharing services, social networks, dating sites like OkCupid and even cameras installed on college quads. They shared those photos with other organizations. That was just the norm for researchers. They all needed data to feed into their new A.I. systems, so they shared what they had. It was usually legal. One example was MegaFace, a data set created by professors at the University of Washington in 2015. They built it without the knowledge or consent of the people whose images they folded into its enormous pool of photos. The professors posted it to the internet so others could download it. MegaFace has been downloaded more than 6,000 times by companies and government agencies around the world, according to a New York Times public records request. They included the U.S. defense contractor Northrop Grumman; In-Q-Tel, the investment arm of the Central Intelligence Agency; ByteDance, the parent company of the Chinese social media app TikTok; and the Chinese surveillance company Megvii. Researchers built MegaFace for use in an academic competition meant to spur the development of facial recognition systems. It was not intended for commercial use. But only a small percentage of those who downloaded MegaFace publicly participated in the competition. “We are not in a position to discuss third-party projects,” said Victor Balta, a University of Washington spokesman. “MegaFace has been decommissioned, and MegaFace data are no longer being distributed.” Some who downloaded the data have deployed facial recognition systems. Megvii was blacklisted last year by the Commerce Department after the Chinese government used its technology to monitor the country’s Uighur population. The University of Washington took MegaFace offline in May, and other organizations have removed other data sets. But copies of these files could be anywhere, and they are likely to be feeding new research. Ms. O’Sullivan and Mr. Harvey spent years trying to build a tool that could expose how all that data was being used. It was more difficult than they had anticipated. They wanted to accept someone’s photo and, using facial recognition, instantly tell that person how many times his or her face was included in one of these data sets. But they worried that such a tool could be used in bad ways — by stalkers or by companies and nation states. “The potential for harm seemed too great,” said Ms. O’Sullivan, who is also vice president of responsible A.I. with Arthur, a New York company that helps businesses manage the behavior of A.I. technologies. In the end, they were forced to limit how people could search the tool and what results it delivered. The tool, as it works today, is not as effective as they would like. But the researchers worried that they could not expose the breadth of the problem without making it worse. Exposing.AI itself does not use facial recognition. It pinpoints photos only if you already have a way of pointing to them online, with, say, an internet address. People can search only for photos that were posted to Flickr, and they need a Flickr username, tag or internet address that can identify those photos. (This provides the proper security and privacy protections, the researchers said.) Though this limits the usefulness of the tool, it is still an eye-opener. Flickr images make up a significant swath of the facial recognition data sets that have been passed around the internet, including MegaFace. It is not hard to find photos that people have some personal connection to. Simply by searching through old emails for Flickr links, The Times turned up photos that, according to Exposing.AI, were used in MegaFace and other facial recognition data sets. Several belonged to Parisa Tabriz, a well-known security researcher at Google. She did not respond to a request for comment. Mr. Gaylor is particularly disturbed by what he has discovered through the tool because he once believed that the free flow of information on the internet was mostly a positive thing. He used Flickr because it gave others the right to use his photos through the Creative Commons license. “I am now living the consequences,” he said. His hope — and the hope of Ms. O’Sullivan and Mr. Harvey — is that companies and government will develop new norms, policies and laws that prevent mass collection of personal data. He is making a documentary about the long, winding and occasionally disturbing path of his honeymoon photos to shine a light on the problem. Mr. Harvey is adamant that something has to change. “We need to dismantle these as soon as possible — before they do more harm,” he said.
