Prima una discussione infinita su quale auto noleggiare oggi. Scartate la stupenda Citroen Pallas e la Renault Dauphine perche' entrambi chiuse. Rimaneva da scegliere tra Citroen 2CV e Citroen Mehari. Alla fine abbiamo optato per la 2CV, perche' ha lo stereo e diverse cassette nel cruscotto. Cooly crisp. I've just gotten back home after being away weeks. Home feels like a fondly remembered echo right now which tells me I was away too long.

This cool machine is the product of the "Burton Car Company". Originally a Dutch company, Burtons are based on Citroen 2CV technology and built on the 2CV chassis. They are fiberglass body kit cars. In 2022, French 2CV Mehari Club Cassis bought 75% of the shares in the company from the Dutch brothers who started it.

Ieri abbiamo riportato dietro la vecchia Citroen Mehari che avevo noleggiato. M'ero svenato abbastanza. Stavamo salutando quando ho visto questa vecchia Citroen 2CV. Mi si sono accesi gli occhi. Gli altri mi hanno guardato. Sguardi di quelli severi, come a voler dire "Dai, non prenderla, non prendere sempre queste anticaglie, oltretutto al costo di un occhio della testa. Prendi un'auto moderna, costa la meta' e ha pure l'aria condizionata" ma anche abbastanza rassegnati perche' sanno che quando qualcosa mi entusiasma quasi mai do retta agli altri. E infatti l'ho noleggiata. Tappa del giorno, Plage de Pampellonne..spiaggia, come tutte le spiagge francesi, attrezzata e libera. (Agli italiani invece fa schifo avere spiagge libere nel nostro Paese, visto quanto difendono le concessioni balneari.)
