This morning I felt like rocking a butch look to work. I get nervous on days like these but felt much better once I bumped into my CIS coworker that decided that he felt like wearing a dress today. He does it to help support me, my trans coworker and our trans students. My latest blog post (link in bio). First of all, thank you all for the amazing authentic love and support. It has not gone unnoticed. However, I will stop focusing on my divorce and will start refocusing on my true mission. To make the world a better place for the trans community. I received a letter in the mail yesterday which seems to confirm that after nearly a year since I filed a claim with "an external human rights agency", my employer is finally being investigated. Without going into detail, I have been through so much over the last few years while transitioning on the job. Many people assume it was easy for me to get to where I am, but truthfully I have been through hell, much of which was solely due to my gender expression/identity. Laws were broken, things covered up and now it all may finally come to light. The scariest part is that I am afraid things will get ugly, as they often do for whistleblowers, and as it did for me in the past. However, if I have to become a Martyr for the community, so be it. I have done no wrong, only tried to live and work freely as my authentic self. I was nearly forced out of the job, over multiple school years. However, as the great Octavia E. Butler once said, “In order to rise from its own ashes, a Phoenix first must burn.” Some of those who I crossed paths with on my journey, tried to burn me alive. They didn't succeed and they thought they could get away with it. I have risen from the ashes and I won't stop until the world changes for my trans brothers and sisters.
