To answer your question: honestly? I think nothing. I had to prepare a bit and asked my friends who are fans of the universe. most of them haven't even heard of this ship, and the rest who have met it before have a rather ambivalent attitude towards it.

Hello. Can I request Roche/Ciri (The Witcher 3, after the canon)? Ciri and Geralt as witchers go together to kill the monster. Roche is tired of office work and decides to join them. Vernon and Ciri kiss and show tenderness behind Geralt's back (Roche appreciates the friendship with Geralt very much and does not want his secret relationship with the witcher's daughter Ciri to ruin everything. But Vernon love Ciri is too strong and he won 't give up on her).

So sweet it was, to have Ciri back in his arms. The tenderness of her lips across Vernon's mouth made him weak in the knees. Enraptured in Ciri's presence, Vernon had nearly forgot why he was here in the first place. Slaying a monster was the least of his concerns as was the wrath of Geralt should the two be discovered.

He spoke too soon though, regarding Geralt. The intrusive thoughts began to leak into his mind. Invading his heart with each pass of his lips against Ciri's. Though he wanted to cast all rationale aside, in favor of the emotions that tugged at every nerve and cell, Vernon knew he needed to voice his concern.

If Ciri and him were meant to be, they needed to be able to talk about the elephant in the room.

"Ciri," Vernon murmured against her mouth, pulling away. His eyes glanced over hers, sensing the concern she held without speaking. "We need to talk."

Ciri glanced between Vernon's eyes and mouth, biting her bottom lip. "I was afraid you were going to say that."

Vernon furrowed his brows and watched her pull away.

"Then you know why I--"

"Geralt," Ciri nodded, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She averted her gaze, not wanting to look Vernon in the eye. "It's always Geralt."

The bitterness in her tone didn't go unnoticed. Vernon sighed and reached a hand out to her right shoulder, giving a reassuring squeeze.

"I'm not giving up on you. On us." Vernon began. "We need to be smart on how to broach this. Geralt cares a great deal for you. He's also my friend. This has been...difficult for me to navigate."

Ciri sighed through her nose. She knew he was right. The predicament Vernon was placed under was one of complication. That didn't mean it didn't hurt any less on her end of things. What seemed so simple, so natural, could hurt so many people.

"It's not fair," Ciri murmured and finally looked up at Vernon. Her left hand reached to the hand on her shoulder, squeezing his fingers. "When do you think we should tell him?"

"I'm not sure," Vernon admitted. He removed his hand from Ciri's shoulder, then rubbed the back of his neck. "I know he's been onto us. More so as of late. I think after the hunt, it might be best if we break it to him. Of course, I'm giving you the final say. In the grand scheme of things, if his relationship and mine deteriorate--it would hurt but I can live with that. You though--"

Vernon had difficulty with the rest of his words. He didn't want to ruin the dynamic both Ciri and Geralt had. The two had been through so much over the years. He'd be a damned fool to cause a wedge.

All fears seemed to collapse when Vernon once more felt Ciri's lips upon his. He smiled against Ciri, feeling her pull away.

"It'll be okay." Ciri whispered. "I'll make it so."

Vernon doubted her words, but as he lost himself in another kiss, it didn't matter. Nothing did right now but her.

You know what... I was gonna ignore this, because I was going to be mature. But you keep sending me DMs (I'm assuming its you because they're not actually showing up, because that's what happens when you block someone) and you keep being a dick to my friends. So... I wrote you some Ciri/Roche (a pairing, I would like to point out, that I had no issue with... not my jam, but eh)

This is going behind a cut because it does have PiV sex and a large swathe of implied relationships going on here.

So, they're all at Kaer Morhen and it's do or die time. Too much nervous energy and Ciri's gotta fuck it out somewhere. She goes to Ves first… she's pretty sure they've been flirting, but Ves is like, nope, not into the whole sex thing. You're hot, but, nope. What about Hjalmar? And then Ciri has to explain that whole awkward phase of her life where she was going to marry Hjalmar, but that was actually a terrible idea and also Cerys is objectively hotter. And the witchers are all off the table; Geralt’s her dad, Eskel and Lambert are her weird uncles (plus there is some weird shit going on and she's not sure who is currently fucking who, not worth the stress) What about Keira? Ciri just laughs and says no to sorceresses as a whole. Vesemir is just a no from both and the giggle for a minute or so. Same for Ermion, plus Ciri has known him since she was tiny. Which leaves Roche. Ves makes a puking sound. Ciri looks at him. "He's not bad looking. A bit rough around the edges," she says. "Never seen him with anyone." Ves points out. "Most of us reckon he's like me." Ciri scrunches her nose up. "Can't hurt to ask."

Roche looks like a fucking rabbit caught in a trap when she propositions him. Looking at Ves, and then over at Geralt, and then around, wildly, hoping for some kind of distraction. But Geralt doesn't care who Ciri sleeps with and Ves just gives him a thumbs up, and, it's not a hardship Ciri is young and pretty and actually that's quite intimidating. But, fuck it. She grins and leads him off to one of the many unused rooms of the keep. "No, no bastards, from this." He says, and she laughs out loud. "The last thing I want. I have charms for that. I swear." There's an awkward dance of to kiss or not, and eventually she lets him, as she pulls the chaperon free from his head and starts trying to strip him. He fumbles with all the belts and buckles she's wearing. He's not getting hard, which is, not unusual for him, but he shushes her complaint when she reaches for his cock, instead hoisting her up on the table and pulling her trousers and smalls down until they catch on her boots. It's not a lot of space, but enough that he can eat her out until her hand is clenching in his hair and she's coming all over his chin. She reverses their positions terrifyingly easily, and pushes him up onto the table, kicking off her boots and trousers, so she's just in her loose shirt. He's most of the way to hard by that point, and clever fingers get him the rest of the way there as she looms over him. When he's thrusting up into her hand she looks down at him. "Can I?" It's hard and fast and he doesn't expect to come from it, doesn't realise he's about to until he almost is, pushing as deep as he can and trying not to grip to hard on her hips and thighs, trying not to buck her off. Everything whites out for a second and when he comes to she's desperately rubbing her clit, obviously so close herself. He slips his hand in by hers and gets two fingers inside her, a few more strokes and she's doubling over him, gasping for breath. "You good?" She asks when she's flopped to the side of him, fingers laced just under her breasts. "Yeah." "Brilliant. Thanks." She sits up and grimaces. "Gross." They both laugh at the awkward noises as she wipes herself down and pulls her clothes back on. He does the same, more slowly, letting her leave first.

She wanders through the halls back to her room, passing Ves on the way. The other woman gives her a questioning look, and Ciri shrugs and smiles.

How about a post-canon ideas where Ciri travels on a ship Percival with Roche (Ciri trying to get respect for her personality from the soldiers and she is annoyed that she is perceived only as a girlfriend of their commander)? Ciri finds some trinket from Cintra in Vernon's room (In tw2, Roche says he was in Cintra) and and it inspires her to be as strong and proud as her grandmother.

It was reasonable enough to bring a Witcher along on this mission: sensible even, a shift from the commander's insistence that the special forces should be "wholly capable of self sustaining maneuvers in austere environments".

But Vernon Roche wore his emotions on his sleeve - typically with the worst timing.

"Did you really grab one of the soldiers by the collar?"

"No -"

Ciri tugged the undone chaperone's fabric wrapped around her first - the liripipe tied harmlessly around his neck, but the pressure was enough to make Vernon's eyelids flutter in pleasure.

"Yes, I did. But they were being disrespectful."

Ciri clucked her tongue, rocking her hips achingly slow. "What part of not drawing attention did you not understand? It's hardly the first or last time I'll be spoken of that way - and I'm more than capable of handling it myself."

No hint of the commander's rigidity remained to take offense at her tone, instead Vernon was exhaling through his nose slowly to hold back any complaints about the Witcher's pace. Vernon was convinced she'd make a solid candidate to run the torture chambers - Ciri's resolve was beyond impressive when she wanted to prove a point.

He did let out a sound of protest when Ciri stopped moving all together and released the fabric. Placing her thumbs on his jaw, cool fingers wrapping around his neck, she tilted his face up to her meaningfully.

"You've made things more difficult. They just think I'm some silly fling, not a professional."

"It's not as if that's what I intended ..."

She studied his face, unyielding to his poor excuse. It reminded Vernon of the powerful people she had been influenced by her whole life.

"I can say something to them? Set them straight?"

Ciri scoffed. "That would be even worse!"

Her insides clenched around him and Vernon lost his will power, gently taking hold of her hips and guiding her movement … She didn't argue, lips parting slightly at the return of friction. It smoothed the furrow in her brow, made her drop her hands to grip his shoulders.

"This is only the beginning of you making this up to me."

"Mmhm..."

"I mean it, Vernon."

"Of course you do."

"Well, don't slow down, oh."

Ciri remained in Vernon's cabin once he'd dressed and left to attend his troops. She ought to head up as well to prepare for her nighttime watch over the ship and its crew, but she wanted to let the relaxation course through her loose limbs a little while longer.

Besides, she really needed to figure out a way to deal with the passive aggressive comments the soldiers were making and the way they glanced at her side eyed when they thought she wouldn't notice. It drove her mad, but stomping her feet or having Vernon do the stomping for her would only cement their ignorant opinions ...

Sitting at the desk in the tight space with her feet propped up, Ciri began thumbing through the belongings Vernon had out. He was particular about the way his things were kept, so she picked up a few items to examine and set each back at just a slightly different angle.

When she turned her attention to the top drawer, Ciri was surprised to find a small collection of momentos. One of which caught her eye quickly - a golden pin with the Cintran crest.

That's right, Vernon had told her about his time at the Cintran court - but had she noticed the mark of the lioness her grandmother had placed on so many? Scars on the chest where Calanthe would have her first in command place the pin for esteemed military members for her to slap it firmly in place with the heel of her palm.

Earning the claw marks of the lioness was a rite of passage for the visitors, one they were expected to bear with the dutiful respect owed the queen. The show of bravado caught on as tradition quickly.

Her grandmother had explained to her it wasn't to be cruel, but an easy way to remind the soldiers that she could draw blood and wouldn't faint from it.

The gold in her fingertips was a stark reminder of who she came from… It struck her with inspiration. Ciri smiled, tucking the pin into the breast pocket of her leather jerkin.

It always came down to blood, didn't it?

Vernon nearly tripped on the way up the narrow stairs to the ship's deck. Crashing and loud thuds had stirred him, finally thundering jeers had pulled him the rest of the way from slumber.

"What in the bloody hell is going on here?" He demanded, bleary eyed and frowning at the mess of soldiers.

"Ask th' witcher," one of his sergeants slurred, grinning around a swelling cheek, jabbing a finger towards the center of the deck.

A ring of soldiers and deck hands dispersed as soon as they caught sight of him approaching, leaving only Ciri and a wiry soldier shaking hands. They both had blood gushing from their noses, although down to just a thin line top, Ciri obviously had more than just the one injury.

"Almost had you!"

"Better luck next time!"

Ciri clapped the man on his shoulder - before he scurried off under Vernon's scathing gaze.

"Ciri, when you said you had an idea - "

Before he could start, Ciri rolled her eyes and took a long swig straight from a bottle of vodka. It was then he noticed the sway in her stance.

"Have you been drinking and brawling?"

"Had to show 'em I wouldn't faint!" She leaned closer, spoke conspiratorially. “Thank Melitele you’ve been giving me those sparring lessons. Dunno I would have made it this far otherwise.”

Vernon gave a brief sweep of the deck - everyone was getting along cheerily and if not for his sour presence they likely would have been congratulating Ciri on her victory. As far as soldiers went, she was spot on in earning their respect ...

"Its hard to believe there was any other way ..."

Ciri wiped the blood away from her nose and grinned. "Besides, this has been a good time."

Vernon stared openly.

"What?"

"You're... Missing a tooth."

Tongue flicking up to check the gap, Ciri quirked an eyebrow. "How about that? Better see if I can find it … But don't think you're helping, you've done enough. You’re already making another scene."

It was Vernon's turn to roll his eyes, but he let her take him by the shoulders and turn him back towards the stairs below deck.

"Don't get my soldiers into trouble ..."

A quick smack on the ass sent anyone watching into laughter as Vernon bit back a yelp - Ciri was always in rare form when the vodka started flowing.

"Don't you worry about a thing, commander. I'll keep them in line," said Ciri while turning to those in ear shot with a raucous tone, "hear that? Act up and I'll be using you as vodnik bait!"

Ciri woke around mid day, muzzy from the night before. Her cheek was pressed firmly into Vernon's chest.

"Awake?"

She hummed, not quite ready for words. The rest of her watch had passed in reverie, toeing the line between effective if actual witchering needed to occur and having a good time with the men and women who served with Vernon.

"Sometimes I forget how much you're like her," Vernon mused, dragging his fingers soothingly along Ciri's scalp. "Calanthe would have bare knuckle brawled with the best of us if her position would have allowed it."

Ciri smiled, hearing the compliment it was, and nuzzled deeper into his steady and comforting hold.

"Tell me more about your visit to Cintra."

The low rumble of Vernon's voice against her ear, his fingers working through her hair, and the stories of her grandmother were even more satisfying than winning over the soldiers.

i'm not opposed to writing pairings that i have little to no clue about, so i went and did some digging. seems like there's been a weird influx of anon messages to different folks about roche/ciri stuff as of late. and a lot of it seems rude / spiteful / vindictive. i've watched one person's tolkien blog get spammed by roche/ciri anons for seemingly no reason, and it's not a pleasant read.

listen. i don't know who you are, if you've been participating in the spamming, etc. but in general, i'm not interested in dealing with possible backlash. i get nothing out of this. i'm not putting my ass in the fire for a single request, especially when the vibes are so weird. i generally don't like the witcher, anyway. don't know how / why i got this kind of an ask, cuz my blog has practically no witcher content.

Avallach/Ciri/Roche as the new Avallach/Lara/Cregennan?

To be honest... probably not. there are many reasons that make this dynamic quite problematic. First of all, Vernon is not a character from the Witcher saga, he was invented by CD Projekt Red for the games and appears for the first time in The Witcher 2 Assassin of Kings, so he has no canonical relationship or contact with Ciri. In the third part of the games, he helps Geralt in the fight against the Wild Hunt, but we do not find out whether he had closer contact with Ciri during the fight or during preparations.

For a change, Avallac'h appears for the first time in "The Tower of the Swallow" and has real contact with Ciri (which, as we know, results in her being manipulated). After the events of the books in the games, we only see him in "The Wild Hunt", where he spends time with her again, but mainly out of the players' eyes. However, it can be concluded that it was quite a significant period of time during which they had to stay together like it or not.

However, if I had to say which of the two Ciri would choose... objectively, I must say that it would probably be Avallac'h. We know for sure that she spent a lot of time with him, but we don't know what their relationship and attitude towards each other was like while escaping from the Wild Hunt. So one could hypothetically assume that (especially knowing what Ciri was like in the books) something was happening between them

However, as far as my personal opinion is concerned, yes, very much so as much as I wanted to, I don't think I would end up with one of them in the end.
