i need to push my curtis gang w pets agenda so bad

the curtises had a dog (dutifully named doggy by a two year old darry) that was a german shepherd/mountain cur mutt. it was a retired military dog that worked with mr curtis when he was in the military and was just a pup when he was discharged so he adopted it after. y’know that one scene in lady and the tramp where lady is looking over the baby? yeah, that’s doggy and pony. pony fell out of his bed once and a few minutes later the curtis parents walked in and found them cuddled up on the floor. doggy was the most patient dog ever like when soda was a baby and he’d pull on doggy’s ears and tail he’d just sit there patiently. darry used to love going for runs with doggy, or playing fetch. but out of all of them, doggy and ponyboy were attached at the hip until doggy died in the car accident (mrs curtis was surprising me curtis by bringing doggy to pick him up from work)

johnny is basically the honorary animal whisperer of tulsa, especially with cats and dogs. one night when he was out in the lot, this little, rusty colored kitten with the most darling green eyes just came up to him mewling all sad and pitifully, so he shared his dinner with the cat. that cat was then attached to him by the hip. he named it mocha because of its fur. there’s also a springer spaniel/border collie mutt that hangs out in the lot a ton that he named cinnamon. every time he steals from a restaurant or goes dumpster diving just to keep himself fed he makes sure to bring back food for mocha and cinnamon. pony takes care of them after he dies.

i made a few headcanons about this way back in july but dally has a cat he calls ‘lil dal’ and that thing is the meanest, scruffiest, mangiest, most flea ridden cretin to exist on the planet. that cat needs jackson galaxy STAT. he spoils that thing too like he praises it for lashing out at people because he’s a jackass. the only one who can get somewhat close to it is johnny and even then it’ll scratch him if he tries to go near it. he calls it these little russian pet names too but only in private. he loves that cat more than he probably loves any person on the planet

two bit has two mice named mickey and minnie—he got them as a gift for his birthday when he turned thirteen and he loves them to bits (no pun intended)—sometimes he’ll put on plays with them for his little sister. they’re usually unnecessarily dramatic. or violent. or wildly inappropriate. but regardless he still has fun with them and he loves them a lot. he just forgets to feed them sometimes (a lot of times)—his sister will feed them sometimes tho cause she likes critters like that

ohhh steve. i’ve made a few headcanons about this but one day when he’s hanging out in the lot with johnny after being kicked out, this black cat just leaps out of the shadows towards him. it’s this sleek black cat with these icy blue eyes (that later turned green) and he just…kept it as his own. he names her diesel and she hangs out with him at the DX and keeps him entertained. she climbs on the counters and stuff but that’s fine, don’t tell his boss. she’s definitely a customer favorite, even if she’s a bit more reserved and only likes him. until she meets ponyboy, then that cat is all over him. the cat HATES evie too. she swears that thing is jealous of her because whenever her and steve start being romantic or something it’ll hiss and swipe at her. he also has a parakeet named axel (it’s real name is sweet pea but don’t tell anyone) and he usually keeps him at two’s place. he loves that bird a lot.

Loki Devotional Ideas: Halloween Edition

(Do you seriously think our loveable God of “fuck around, find out”, “constant sugar high insanity” and “what’s the worst that could happen?” wouldn’t love a holiday about dressing up scary, watching scary movies, telling scary stories and pranking people?)

- Watch horror movies. Any will do! Slashers (e.g. Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween), Splatter (e.g. Saw, Hostel, Hellraiser), Monster (e.g. American Werewolf in London, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon), Sci-Fi (e.g. Alien, M3GAN, Predator), Psychological (e.g. The Woman in Black, The Ring, Silence of the Lambs), whatever floats your boat! (Yes, this does include kids horror.)

- Listen to spooky tunes. I don’t just mean Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, Ray Parker Jr’s “Ghostbusters”, and so on; listen to the Silver Scream albums by Ice Nine Kills, “Halloweentown” by Dark Divine, fucking anything by Motionless in White or Rob Zombie. The spookier, the better!

- PRANKS! Give someone a quick scare, but remember to do clean up/soothing afterwards!

- Give Loki his own Halloween bucket and put some candy in it for him.

- Spooky tarot readings! Use tarot or oracle sets themed around horror in any way. I have an oracle set literally based on horror movies (and it has a card called “The Trickster” based on IT and it is 100% a Loki card. I’ll talk about it in detail another time.)

- If you have some sort of statue or digital representation of Loki, why not dress him up? You can even ask him if he’d like anything in particular.

- Decorate your house how YOU want to. Get out the lumbering, scary animatronics or stick to the kid friendly banners and plastic scene setters and lights. Whatever works for you!

- Indulge in whatever spooky delights you desire. Read that shitty CreepyPasta from 2009, read that Goosebumps story, watch Twilight, play old horror/scary Flash games, eat chocolate till you poop nothing but it, listen to zombie apocalypse ambience, play with your Monster High dolls, WHATEVER! JUST. INDULGE.

- Carve a pumpkin. Give Loki a pumpkin as well (sure he can’t physically carve it in our realm but you could always use your minds eye to translate what he carved as close as you can). Make pumpkin pie from the insides.

- Enjoy the autumn leaves falling, the nights growing longer, the full moon in the sky and all the hallmarks of the autumn season.

- Give out candy to trick r treaters. Laugh at their horrible jokes (convince them you genuinely found it funny), play along with their “tricks”, compliment their outfits. Loki loves kids, and you bet your ass he’d love them going home happy with not just candy but someone playing along with them!

- Draw horror art, write horror stories, create spooky music. Use the time to be spookily creative. And it doesn’t need to be groundbreaking - if you wanna make a Jeff the Killer rip-off, you go and you make that Jeff the Killer rip-off!

- For those who observe Samhain; include Loki in your celebration/tradition, even if only a small inclusion.

- Tell Loki a scary campfire story from your youth. Hell, if you wanna ask him to tell you one, go for it!

- Include his family if you can! Leave candy or toys for the twins, include wolves or snakes in your decorations for Fenrir and Jormungandr, make a foam tombstone dedicated to Hel and Garmr, make decorative potions themed around Angrboda and Sigyn. Whatever way you can think of to include them, it’s worth a shot!

- For pet owners; if your furry buddy is alright with it, dress them up or give them seasonal items! Not all animals (e.g. cats) like dressing up, so try for Halloween themed toys, bedding, enrichment and treats! Bonus points if you dress up your companion to resemble Fenrir, Jormungandr or Sleipnir.

- Get scented candles or incense that fits the season. Pumpkin, cinnamon, rain, apple - there’s plenty of options out there!

- If you do any Halloween baking, invite Loki or leave him some of your baked goods.

- Have a pumpkin spiced latte and OWN being a basic White bitch for five minutes. You enjoy every slurp of that pumpkin spiced latte like your life depends on it. Don’t matter if you are POC, disabled, LGBTQIA+, whatever else - if you wanna be a basic autumn White bitch for a minute, you go and be that basic autumn White bitch! (Bonus if you add whipped cream or anything else you like just for the Hell of it.)

- In summary; HAVE FUCKING FUN. Indulge yourself, play along with games and pranks, take in everything the season has to offer.

Curtis Gang Pets

Curtis brothers: canonically had a yellow cur dog that I’m saying was half German Shepherd and used to work with Mr. Curtis when he fought in World War II-the dog’s name was Doggy, courtesy of 2 year old Darry

Johnny: The stray cats and dogs LOVE him and he loves them back. He only has two who really stick by his side though who he considers pets—a brown tabby with green eyes named Cinnamon and a mutt named Mocha.

Dally: He has a stray cats who would follow him around endlessly that he used to just ignore, but eventually he just adopted it. it’s name is Lil’ Dal…or that’s what he calls it around company anyway. Its name is really Misha, he just doesn’t wanna admit it. It’s only nice to him though. It needs Jackson Galaxy STAT

Two Bit: Has an army of Betta fish that either just eat each other or he forgets to feed them/clean their bowl…so they die off quick enough. He also has two mice named Micky and Minnie who he does voiceovers with and makes “reality drama” for his sister lmfao

Steve: Has a black cat he named Diesel. Diesel may actually be meaner than Dally’s cat and the only one it’s nice to is Sodapop. Even Steve has his fair share of scars from that cat.

The Shepards also have a parrot that says the most heinous things in company. Its name is Pajarito but that bird has heard some things
