Oh yes, the 124 year old wizard of oz just your basic summer reading. Look there's millions of books, tv shows, games, and movies. I haven't exactly had a realistic amount of time to do it all . So maybe just don't post spoilers for new shows based on old movies based on old books? Just tag what it's a spoiler of at least for common courtesys sake.
I will continue to bang this drum,

Animation is also MUCH more expensive than live action. If people can be convinced that live action is an "upgrade" studios can charge for more for a much cheaper product.
I don't mean to imply that Live Action is inherently worse either, but recording actors is much, much, easier than hand drawing their every movement.
The animation industry had to fight hard to get producers to accept early projects due to cost alone.
Ghibli's Nausicaa being a notable example- the producters turned it down until the team could PROVE it would be popular (they did this by publishing a comic version to sell the story itself). Anime magical transformations (any magical girl series), expression frames (Speed Racer), and opening and ending themes, all exist to help cut costs by ensuring there were reusable sections.
I can't say for sure why animation keeps getting looked down on- there's so much that has happened that you could build a theory out of. But it's not secret that producers are investors - they benefit from convincing people that the cheaper product is the higher quality, more desirable one.
my biggest issue with the httyd live action-and just about any live action reboot is that it seems that the live action adaptations are being made to make the original “better”? like, so many people talk about a live action spiderverse, a live action hercules, a live action PRINCE OF EGYPT (dont piss me OFF.)-like animation is a beautiful work of art, and for some reason putting real people and cgi in it is supposed to be an “upgrade”? im probably being that friend that’s too woke or whatever, but i just think it’s so disrespectful to act like something that takes so much time and effort and energy is immediately considered as lower because it is animated. animation is beautiful, and it is one of the most heartfelt art forms there are, and erasing that for the sake of a cash grab is downright degrading to animation as a medium.

So, good, honestly! It refuses to flinch into oversimplification on lore or visual details of the setting (the properly pronounced latin! the use of romanian that's actually romanian! the entire "undead transylvanian prince" design of the principal monster! the painted church THE PAINTED CHURCH), which is So Good when it comes to a genre that tends to fumble its settings into cartoonishness.
