K-Drama Review Series: “Cinderella and the Four Knights”

Good Evening Everyone! I'm back with another k-drama review. This is irrelevant, but while writing this review there are thunderstorms in my area. I'm not scared of thunderstorms but my mother and I heard and felt thunder that was equivalent to an explosion. I'm not exaggerating. But anyway on to today's review on "Cinderella and the Four Knights".

"Cinderella and the Four Knights" is a 2016 Romantic Comedy starring Jung Il Woo, Ahn Jae Hyeon, Park So Dam, and CNBLUE's Lee Jung Shin. This k-drama takes some of the elements from the well-known fairytale from our childhood, "Cinderella".

Ha Won (Park) doesn't have the best family circumstances. Her mother passed away when she was younger and her father had remarried to a horrible step-mother with an equally horrible her step-daughter. She's a high school senior trying to make ends meet so she can go to college. After getting into a mix up with cousins Ji Woon (Jun) and Hyu Min (Ahn), their grandfather ends up hiring her to live with them and their younger cousin Seo Woo (Lee) to straighten them out. There aren't many rules set for them, except none of the cousins can date Ha Won. At first, this rule seems way like it doesn't need to be made, but of course, when you live a house with three handsome cousins, it would become difficult.

One of the things that I love in this drama especially, is that there is a strong female lead. It didn't take me long to respect and like Ha Won's character in this drama due to her personality. Ha Won knows what she wants to do in life and although she has lots of odds against her, she can still make it happen. She still needs some help of course, but when people see her personality and earnestness, this makes people respect and want to help her.

I also love how she handles the boys, mainly Ji Woon and Hyu Min. It's hilarious how she would respond to their mischief and immaturity. I also understand why the cousins are the way that they are, especially Ji Woon, since he's considered the "outcast" of the family.

Touching briefly on the cousins they each had lost their fathers and each of them goes through their own personal problems and trauma. Ji Woon's parent's relationship wasn't approved by their grandfather and lost mother when he was younger. Hyu Min had lost his best friend to an accident that he blames himself for which is why he constantly pushes Hye Ji away whose his first love and his late friends younger sister. And Seo Kang feels isolated while having to maintain brave face since he’s a singer.

It's an enjoyable drama that really helped me to better understand the value of family. I love my family and enjoy spending so much time with them. But once I started college last year, I was more focused on my own interests and independence and I didn't contact my family that much. Due to multiple things like this drama, COVID-19, etc. I spend almost all my time with my family now. Our family is the ones that will always be there for you, that something that we must always remember. Also family isn't always people who are related to you by blood.

Anyway if you enjoyed this drama tell me what you enjoyed the most. Mine of course was the scene where they all collectively took a vacation and everyone had gotten drunk lol.  If you haven't I hope you consider it!
