Yesterday we had a great trail cleanup and forage walk. Everyone that showed up collectively picked up 96 pounds of trash! It’s crazy that there was that much there but I’m glad we did our part to help clean up this beautiful park. Learn how to identify wild invasive plant species and medicinal mushrooms. *we are not allowed to PICK any plants on state land* We will also do our part to clean up the forest! This episode was taped on Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, CT. Erik and Kim talk with previous podcast guest Rachel DeCavege who is the owner and creative director of Cinder and Salt, where style meets sustainability. Rachel makes clothing using sustainable practices and is an advocate of earth conscious living.  Rachael organized a beach cleanup and partnered with Tony Marino of The Rockfall Foundation located in Middletown, CT. We didn’t find any garbage but there were about 50 participants including kids who were doing a great job! We interviewed a few of them which was great. We also talked to Rachel and Tony who shared why they were there and what their missions are all about. We also shared our experience and why we care about cleaning up the oceans. It was a lot of fun and great to see so many people coming out to do their part to make a difference in the environment.
