- when he first starts to like you, he doesn’t realize it and scoffs whenever you flirt with him, making it seem like he doesn’t like you

- in the corner of your eye, you’ll see a slight smirk on his face though he doesn’t look at you

- he doesn’t tell anyone about his little crush on you because he doesn’t trust the others in the wolf clan and acts on his best behavior to be favorited by ras

- everyone around you knew you and cinder liked each other before the two of you knew about your feelings for each other

- if smoke bothers you then he’ll try not to poof around and use his power as much around you

- although if he wants to scare you, you’ll either be alone or talking to someone, engrossed in a conversation when you suddenly smell smoke and feel a presence behind you

- will randomly give you a cup of coffee that he made on his own, wanting you to drink it as he watches for any signs of displeasure on your face

- if someone tries to hit on you and they have an elemental power, he’ll try to break them down by saying, “hm. i never knew that could be an element. to me, it just doesn’t seem that important.” so they’ll leave you alone

- he loves skin-to-skin contact and craves it so badly, always trying to be next to you and uncrossing his arms to rub his thumb on your wrist

- you’re a victim of the sassy man apocalypse

- as we all know, he’s a huge drama queen and is always making a scene to make the ninja or jordana look bad

- he’s the biggest shit-talker ever and rants to you about how annoying others are

- you’re probably the only person who hasn’t pissed him off

- he’ll be arguing with the ninja or jordana and will randomly accuse, “are you flirting with my partner? not cool.”

- he just wants attention and to be favorited by others like his master, ras

- whenever he wants your attention he’ll just stare at you or sigh many times, deeper and deeper as he crosses his arms

- if you give him a matching bracelet or something, he’ll wear it after you beg him to

- when having to camp with him with others around a fire, he’ll switch spots with you if the smoke is in your face because he can handle it the best

- follows the sidewalk rule, if you’re closer to the road then he’ll grab your arm and gently redirect you away

- you have to patch him up a lot, he’s obligated to train with nokt the most, and both aren’t known for being gentle so he comes back to you with bruises and occasional scars

- he isn’t entirely fond of pda, he’s not against physical touch in general with you but is extremely aware of how others think of him

- he doesn’t show pda much because if threats or the ninja are nearby, he knows they could hurt you to get to him because of their ulterior motives

- when he’s not in public he’s all over you

- it’s nearly impossible to get his hands off you because he hangs onto you like a koala

- not really a dating hc but your pillow and sheets smell like smoke because cinder sleeps with you

- sometimes jordana will take you away from him just to talk to you and to piss him off

- when he can, he’ll follow you if you’re talking to someone else, just standing behind you with his arms crossed

- wherever you live or spend most of your time, it probably smells like smoke because cinder’s always with you

- whenever the two of you get time alone or a small break from training, you’ll go into a private place and he’ll wrap his arms around your waist and give you kisses

- he doesn’t often get uninterrupted one-on-one time with you, so when alone, he’s touchy and so loving towards you

- follows you around everywhere, claims it’s for your protection and safety

- he’ll go to a different place if ras orders him to, but attempts to get you to come as well

- he’s so scared you’ll get hurt one day because of his actions, although he knows you’re fully capable of keeping yourself safe

- he loves to lay his head on your chest and try to fall asleep as you trace the scars on his back

- he stares at you in public when you’re far away from each other

- you always seem to notice and make eye contact with him, causing him to blush and avert his gaze

- he acts like such a baby when he’s sick, whining for you to sit near his feet when he sleeps on the couch so you can be with each other

- he loves warm food like soup and mac n cheese, so you make those foods when he’s sick

- if you and he are in a situation where you have to make a getaway, he’ll wrap his arm around your midsection and use his smoke power to teleport away

- but he won’t do that with anyone else unless he 100% has to in a life-or-death situation

- whenever you’re shivering and in a top that shows skin, he’ll place his fur coat on your shoulders

- when you realize it’s obvious to the ninja that you and cinder are together, you start holding onto his strong arm, not having to look up to know there’s a smirk on his face

- when his arms aren’t covered with sleeves, he’ll flex them in an attempt that you’ll notice him more than you already do

- he always tries to look his best around you, constantly checking his hair in a nearby mirror

summary: the ninja wake you and cinder from your slumber, they can’t believe you’re a couple

warnings: allusions of sex, DRAGONS RISING PT2 SPOILERS

authors note: omg i love cinder!! first cinder pairing oneshot yayy 💗

You’re awakened from your sleep when you hear a knock at the door of your sleeping quarters. Strong arms let go of the hug that cradled you, and you already miss the warmth. You feel the covers draping back onto you, and a hand softly rubs your back. A sigh almost misses your hearing and the wood creaks with every footstep traveling to the door.

Rolling onto your side, you curl into a ball and move to the other side of the bed, attempting to warm up. The smell of smoke lingers on your pillows and sheets.

You shift around and open your eyes to see Cinder standing at the door. He yawns and covers his mouth, taking a moment to stretch and pop his back. The person behind the door knocks again, and the Master of Smoke groans.

You pull the covers down and slowly stand up, dots invading your vision. After closing your eyes momentarily, you make your way to Cinder with quiet footsteps. You rub your eyes as he slides open the door.

He squints and holds the door open, making a barrier between him and the person standing outside. He complains, “Ugh, do you know what time it is? Trying to get my beauty sleep here—“ he turns around, and his eyes soften. He quietly asks, “What are you doing up?”

You walk towards him and respond, “Heard a knock on the door. Wanted to make sure that you’re okay.” he smiles at your response, making eye contact. 

His hair dishevels but still looks good, which you admire. You look at him up and down, wondering how he could wear multiple layers of clothes as sleepwear. Glancing upwards, you smile at his eye mask, reminding yourself of how you bought matching ones, both the same color.

Slowly walking closer to him, you lean forward and tiptoe, gently wrapping your arms around his neck. He smiles at you, a genuine one, and you feel arms placing themselves around your waist. He leans down and places his lips against yours, chasing after your lips whenever you pull away. 

A higher-pitched voice interrupts, “What’s taking so long?” causing you to pull away from the kiss. You miss the warm lips, the affection and love poured into the kiss. 

His hands grip the material near your waist, and he sighs and rolls his eyes. He sneers, “We’re trying to have a moment here.” and moves back into the eyesight of the person on the other side. He continues, “Boss! Bunch of jerks that apparently don’t care about my beauty are here to see you!” he grabs your hand and glares at the person on the other side.

You then realize the ninja are outside and waiting for Ras. Recognizing a younger boy, you stop dead in your tracks. Arin notices, his eyes widen, “Y/n?” Cinder lets go of your hand.

You reply with a smile, “Hey, kid. Nice to see you again.”

A smile forms on the younger boy's face, and he asks, “I’m so glad to see you! What are you doing here? And I’m guessing you have powers now? That’s so cool! What are you the master of? Gosh, the last time I saw you was in the classroom before the merge!” he then pauses. His eyes glance around, and a blush appears on his face, “I’m rambling, aren’t I? Okay, I do have one question.” He walks to the front of the group, ahead of all the ninja. He squints and interrogates, “Are you and that smoke dude together?”

A smirk from your right sends your way, and your boyfriend leans against the wall. You shyly answer Arin’s question, “Yeah—“ emitting shocked expressions from the ninja, they begin to whisper amongst one another.

“Is he forcing you to? You can always come to us if you need help.” He worriedly and quietly asks, concerned for your safety. Your heart drops at Cinder’s frown and the younger boy’s shaking body.

You state, “Arin, you don’t know who Cinder really is. He’s a sweet guy, but you can’t see that. I appreciate your concern but really, I’m okay and I’m happy. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and I need you to respect my choices.” then turn at the hearing of footsteps. You smile at Arin before leaving the conversation to Lord Ras.

Walking to Cinder, who still leans on the wall, you choose to lean on him. You lay your head on his shoulder, and he uncrosses his arms. You place your hand under his sleeve and hold his forearm. 

Never in your life would you have guessed that an intimidating person such as Cinder loves skin-to-skin contact. Although, he states you’re the only exception. You’ve noticed how he’s pushed off anyone who’s tried to initiate physical touch with him.

Ras pays no attention to the ninja and instead teases, “I hope you two haven’t been up all night. I thought I heard some noises from across the room.” you hear a gasp from outside. You chuckle, and a red hue overcomes your face, guessing it was Arin who gasped. The Lord continues, “You need to train tomorrow. You best hope you’ll get some sleep.”

Next to you, your boyfriend scowls, “Ras.” and turns his head away from the two of you. You gently rub his arm and feel the muscle, pressing your cheek against his bicep. You close your eyes and hear Nya and Cole talking to Ras about Jay.

You hear sipping next to you, causing you to turn your head upwards. You notice a detail and giggle about it. Cinder closes his eyes when he’s drinking something. He grins at his Master, who says he found Jay and helped him, accusing the ninja of not trying to find him.

The boy next to you grabs another mug, steaming coffee slowly moving around. He offers it to you and mumbles, “Careful, it’s hot.” you smile at the gift. Your arm links with his, and he places the mug in your hand, not looking away until he knows your skin isn’t burning.

You sip the coffee and press your lips together at the hot drink. You hum in contentment and thank your boyfriend.

He asks, “Good?” referring to the coffee, knowing you would’ve preferred a colder drink instead. He decided to make your coffee how he likes his, you never knew what to call it because it was apparently his recipe.

That’s what he told everyone, his coffee was his recipe, no one else’s. Later, after telling everyone a blatant lie, he confessed to you it was his uncle’s recipe. His uncle let him have a sip once when he was a child, although his mother advised against it. The uncle taught him the recipe a few years later, and he now knows it by heart.

Ras and the ninja’s conversation ends when he concludes, “If you truly value Jay, leave the games and go after him.” he slides the door shut.

You hear footsteps leaving the door and mumbles from Nya. Once you finish your coffee, you wipe your mouth and place a kiss on Cinder’s clothed arm. You feel his eyes on you, and can already tell a stupid smirk occupies his face.

A booming voice demands, “Get some sleep. You need to be well-rested for tomorrow’s games. And no funny business, I want a good night's sleep as well.” Ras turns his back and walks to his bed. 

Cinder chuckles at his grumpy mentor, knowing he acts that way as well. He grabs the mug from your hands and places it on a nearby coffee table, his mug already placed near the corner.

“Should go back to bed.” you yawn, grabbing your boyfriend's hand and dragging him back to the bed.

He looks at you, puzzled, “How are you sleepy after you just had a whole thing of coffee?” and rubs the back of your hand with his thumb.

You mumble, “Don’t know.” and crawl back into bed, loving the comfort of your sheets. 

Cinder looks down at you and pulls back the sheets, laying down next to you. He gazes into your eyes before gently kissing your cheek. The last thing you see before he pulls down your eye mask is Cinder with a grin and a purple and pink eye mask near his hairline. The mask blinds your vision, causing you to smile. You pull down his as he did and begin to giggle, wrapping your arm around his torso.

You mumble, “Night, handsome.”

You feel a grin against your hair, and he responds, “Night, sweetheart.” He wraps his arm around your torso as if he wants to protect you from the dangers of the world, and possibly from himself as well.
