A little something from Poet Fic, which is also somewhat of a Sick Fic! Btw I might not participate in WIP tags quite as much over the next little while. I'll see how it goes but a lot of this fic seems to contain spoilers for itself so it's tricky to pick out sections! BUT please do still tag me in things because I always want to know what people have going on! ILY!

“Did anyone ever read these? Anyone in your family?”

“No!” Carlos barks, shocked by the question - or the image it conjures. “God no. You’re the only one. And, I know you’re my soulmate and everything, but I was still never going to tell you about it.”

“Why not?”

“It’s embarrassing.”

“But you still kept it.”

“It’s possible to be embarrassed by things you’re also proud of,” Carlos says, quirking an eyebrow.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” TK bursts a laugh, rocking into him.

Carlos lets himself smile. He looks down at his little tome, his collection of secret pain that he still experiences like echoes. “This poor kid.”

“I know.”

“When I realized I’d lost all my poems in the fire, I told you I didn’t care,” Carlos says, “But I did. I actually cried. I just felt like I’d let myself down. I thought about how devastated I’d have been as a teenager, knowing everything would go up in flames like that. And the love heart for Scott – throwing it away felt like a weird betrayal.”

They look into each other’s eyes. TK sneezes.

“I think you should get some sleep,” Carlos says, handing him the box of tissues.

“Read to me.”

“To bore you to sleep?”

“I want you to prove to me that they’re bad.” TK draws a finger around the ‘O’ of Astros on Carlos’ sweatshirt. “Because I don’t believe you.”

Carlos sits up a bit so he can put his arm around TK, pulling him in to cuddle up against his chest, sneezes and all. TK takes a second to feel how loved he is, even when he messes up.

In all seriousness, my goodness @heartstringsduet is a beautiful person inside and out. Michelle, I bloody loved every moment! It's so special to be able to talk about life but also the show and fic face to face. I feel very lucky to have been able to give one of my favourite writers and artists ever a big, crushing bear hug and tell you how I FEEL. Thank you for the stickers and the bracelets! I have a bracelet that says Cig!!! Ahhh!!! Also look who kept me company while I was knitting your hat:

Met @carlos-in-glasses on Saturday and it was so so fun and easy and I'm so upset we can't just meet for coffee all the time. 😭 Genuinely highlight of my London trip. (Don't tell tswift). But also look at the cute little presents she got but most importantly made me. Never been sadder that it's summer but I can't wait to wear the hat! It's so sooooft and pretty!

like yeah, john is a fine & normal name. he doesn't have any strong feelings about it and neither does anyone else. but john's mother wanted him, loved him, and iirc might have already had a name picked out for him before she died. (his older sister was named cheryl, which wasn't even in the TOP 100 most common UK girl names at the time, so there was a precedent for putting a lot of thought into naming her kids!!) and then she dies, and thomas just. doesn't. care. john, number one most common UK baby name for the four preceding decades. like john smith. like john fucking doe.

how it must feel to him when people say that name with actual affection instead of rage. how rare that is in his line of work. how different it must sound when he's wanted.

The last of the d20 zine jam zines I did was FIG AND THE ____, where we created fantasy high ocs to join Fig and the Cig Figs ! So this is Ollie Limes (listen the time pressure was real what are 2 green things that can be a name) a cool outgoing synth/keys player. A little energy bomb, they get along with almost everyone and have a great fashion sense!

It was very fun to draw them and I will draw them again but maybe not in a fantasy high setting idk we'll see they're my baby

seven sentence sunday

i still haven't decided if i'm finishing this, so let me know what you think!

He walks over and takes the glass from Nora, taking a long pull of the drink before looking at Henry, a fake smile plastered all over his face. “Henry.”

“Alex,” Henry says, the smile on his face a lot smaller than it was a minute ago, “this is Michael, my – my boyfriend.” If Michael notices that Henry stutters, he doesn’t say anything.

Alex feels almost robotic as he extends his hand out to Michael, shaking his hand. “Nice to meet you.” He knocks back the rest of his whiskey and smiles shakily, “I’m so sorry to cut this short, but I need to head out – I have a litigation first thing in the morning.” He turns to Nora, “Tell June I’m sorry.” He presses a kiss to her cheek and leaves, ignoring Henry’s gaze on his back. 

He makes it to the end of the street before he lets himself cry, the tears in his eyes blurring his vision. Alex hadn’t seen or heard from Henry since the …incident, albeit not for lack of trying on Alex’s part. 

Twenty-five unanswered phone calls and an unmeasurable number of unread text messages later, Alex decided it was time to cut his losses, and began to try and mend his broken heart. 

He’d gone on a couple of dates and tried hooking up, and it all ended the same — him, alone in his apartment, trying to figure out how it all went wrong. Alex wishes he’d just kept his stupid mouth shut that night.

Today in BJ fic, Carlos has dropped by the firehouse and is hoping to make up for a boo boo:

“Hey, buddy,” Judd nods, double-taking at the sight of Carlos as he deposits his his glass in the sink. “What did you do?”

Carlos glances at the flowers in his hand and the pink curve of the heart-shaped chocolate box poking out of the bag. “Is it that obvious I did something?”

“Might as well have it tattooed on your forehead.”

“I guess TK’s not here?” The cellophane around the flowers crunches awkwardly in Carlos’ grip.

“Just missed him. Medical’s been on their feet all day.”

Carlos sighs heavily and plops the shopper onto the breakfast bar, removes the chocolates and the noodle salad. “Can I leave this for him? I don’t want him to go hungry.”

“Of course. Here.” Judd takes the Tupperware and reorganizes the contents of the fridge to create a slot.

Carlos knows there’s a basic cylinder vase under the sink, so he hunts it out for the flowers.

“Woah, they’re nice.” Marjan appears from nowhere, tapping Carlos on the back while he's crouched down. Grinning at him, she motions to the flowers and the chocolates. “What did you do?”

Carlos rises sadly with the vase hugged to his chest. “How do you–”

“You guys had a fight, huh?” She takes a bright nectarine from the fruit bowl and rolls it between her hands. “It’s all over your face.”

Judd smiles with satisfaction.

Paul rounds a corner into the kitchen, jumping a little at the unexpected sight of everyone staring at him. He takes one look at Carlos without even acknowledging the flowers and chocolates.

“What did you do?” he asks.

“Oh come on.” Carlos sags.

“He had a fight with TK so he bought him chocolates, flowers and noodles,” Judd says.

“Ooh, apology noodles? Where?” Marjan hops over to the fridge, barging Paul out of the way.

“It wasn’t really a fight,” Carlos says. “I misconstrued something, and I didn’t…” he can’t speak it loudly. He can’t look at them. “I didn’t cook for him. I didn’t cook TK dinner.”
