More handwriting headcanons, but this time it’s for various Papyruses!
Obviously there are more Papyruses that exist, these are just the main ones that came to mind first :P
Font names and reasoning under the cut:
Papyrus: Papyrus (because…. c’mon. we all know why)
Stretch: bRee (he gets lowercase letters because he’s a sleepy guy, and the only reason the Ts look a little sharp is because he was probably thinking about Smart Guy Shit again)
Edge: COLORS OF AUTUMN (upper case letters because loud, and sharp like his personality)
Crooks: kindergarden (his letters are big but not all caps because he’s lost some of the spark that would’ve otherwise made him more like OG Paps, and his handwriting is a little wibbly wobbly because head trauma impairs your motor skills sometimes, making it hard to keep your hand movements, or even just regular movements, smooth and steady)
Mutt: alanis hand (he gets lower case and small because he’s another sleepy guy with no confidence)
Charm (UL Paps): Bigdey Demo (dude gets fancy halfway cursive handwriting because he’s a fancy boy. being fancy and stylish is his whole thing, and he adds little hearts in sometimes if he’s in a particularly good mood)
Jupiter (OT Paps): PIGMENTDEMO (personality wise, I just feel like he’d be very similar to OG Paps, and they probably have a lot of the same habits and things, which could easily carry over into their writing. Their handwriting is similar, but still visually different at the end of the day)
Tango (DT Paps): Rock Salt (big letters and all caps here because he’s a louder, more outgoing guy, and even if he’s not super confident 24/7, that’s still the image that he likes to display to others, so they get the impression that he’s the most confident man on the planet. His handwriting is also a bit fancy in its own way, which kinda reflects his whole thing with dancing)
Phantom (DT Paps): Coffee House (ominous looking, sharp, and all caps, because he is literally the creepy dude who tells Dust to maim people and be homicidal. Sometimes he uses lower case, but when he’s especially worked up about something, he goes back to his all caps ways)
Cider (FT Paps): A Hundred Miles (his letters aren’t the biggest, but he still uses all caps. It’s nice looking, if a little on the messy side sometimes because he does so much with his hands on the farm, and they’re probably sore by the time he finishes)
Grim (RT Paps): Silent Reaction (all caps cursive is a nightmare to look at, and he’s been around long enough that he’s painfully aware of that, so he’s brought it down a few notches and uses proper capitalization. He’s had centuries to make his handwriting nice and neat, and while he does like making it look nice, he’s often more concerned about getting all of his work done. Little bonus is that he unintentionally makes the dot above the i look kinda like a candle flame)

Hand over the ocs 🫵👁️👁️🫳
Aye aye captain 🫡
Imma just first go with..
Eros! What happens when you mix the Eros god with sans? This lol. But he isn't a Sans, he just chooses to have that form. The god of lust, etc etc
A motherfucker, he appears as the right hand of.. someone and helps the ones in desperate need but when they don't pay back? Cain appears and take their lives instead. Actually based on a song hehe
What happens if you fuse my wine and money? Cider lol. A smooth operator, can manipulate his way out without no one asking further information. Literally the worst of both worlds: manipulation of Wine and reading through lies of Money.
My beautiful girl who's a drider monster! Aka another version of spider monsters lol. She isn't fierce or anything, loves getting his spider side caressed, it's like a centaur but.. with a big spider, she's nice I swear
Following the monsters, here's Ceto! A shy bb who's a gorgon monster. Don't worry, they won't turn you into stone if you don't scare them, intention before everything! Each spider is a own mind but they're all sweethearts. Baby <3
I drew Sans as a human AND Mexican because intrusive thoughts, he's stinky, full of dad jokes, loves to drink spicy sauce as water, barely leaves his house. Those aren't grey hairs.. maybe some are but he dyed his hair to match his brother!
Same thing with Samuel, here's my take on a Mexican human papyrus! My baby boy, who's full of mischief and can trap you on a maze! Loves tamales and any other Mexican food! He designed his own battle body!! He's so cool oml
And that's it! Feel free to ask questions about anyone!! <3

Maybe do an updated version of the introvert vs. extrovert list ask in masterlist 2, but with all the skeles?
Alright. *breaks fingers* let’s do this!!
Introverts: honey basil red rust lord mutt coffee butler gold Pluto Helios peaches ram pitch moose quill harpy papaya sails Alden barin saga snipe slim pop tempo green lens cricket tinker partner rowdy
Extroverts: papyrus Star willow lilac edge noir mal cash charm sugar sparks lush sir Flambe pesto Jupiter orion barley crow roost mango fisher Jasper Finn hook captain silex Ollivander arwin Hilda bruiser butch boss rhythm vibrato gears zen thistle yarrow
Ambiverts: sans oak wine salt pepper weasel atlas Artemis rancher cider maple Pearl ace G compass taffy pudding stitches shield
Longer answers: under the cut cause it’s a long fkn list
Sans: he truly is fine with or without company. Simply put sans is just too lazy to care. While he does value his privacy, that’s more in the lines of what his thoughts are. Sans doesn’t give out his true intentions easily. And he can keep being a secretive little jokester in the privacy of his own home, or surrounded by friends. It doesn’t make a difference to him.
Papyrus (and willow): papyrus loves people! He thrives on being surrounded by other happy faces. When he’s alone too long, his more anxious thoughts start turning creep in, so having friends or just any people around is always preferable.
Star (and lilac): he’s an extrovert cause it’s a lot easier to have fun with others than by yourself. Daily tasks just don’t hit as hard without commentary from other people to fill the silence. Star hates silence lol
Honey (and basil): he’s an introvert cause people are scary. It takes a while for him to get comfortable. Therefore it’s just easier to have his me time by himself.
Red (and rust): introvert. He doesn’t like people. And he’s territorial and likes his space. There’s really nothing deep to it
Edge (and noir): extrovert. The best work is done with a proper team and edge prefers his allies around him. He’s learned over the years that just life is simply more.. enjoyable with others, even if they sometimes hold him back he feels
Oak: while he and sans are both ambiverts, it’s for entirely different reasons. Oak simply can’t be introverted. It’s not safe for him to be along long times with his memory. And his perception of time is trash, so he gets nervous if he’s alone too long. But at the same time he would really rather not be always surrounded you know?
Mal: extrovert obviously. Come on, this gossip queen can be nothing else! After all you need many friends in order to get good tea~
Cash: he loves his besties, and causing chaos is always better in groups. You need people to take the blame with you after all lol. Cash prefers having company, mostly of very close friends, but he’ll take others too. He’s pretty extroverted
Lord: he’s a total introvert. He’s only happy to be around a small handful of special people all day, and even then he still needs breaks from them periodically lol
Mutt: he was an extrovert before his LV sickness, but his inability to connect has made him loose his taste for always wanting companionship, so he’s more introvert these days. Unless it’s the right person that is…
Wine: he quite likes lazy days alone, but he equally loves outings with groups. Wine just lets the day take him wherever it may go with no real preference. So ambivert
Coffee: total introvert. He doesn’t like people, and when he is actually in the mood to socialize, it’s for a very limited time frame lol.
Pluto: he’s such a little introvert. He has to get himself psyched up for a day beforehand first when he knows he’ll be in a group larger than four for a few hours. Pluto is perfectly happy spending his days researching alone instead
Jupiter: sports are better with teammates so 100% extrovert.
Orion: his lazy devil may care personality is deceiving. Orion thrives in company, he craves interaction. He’s the guy who will look at a complete stranger and go up to them to get their life story. Total extrovert
Atlas is an ambivert because while he can enjoy company, he doesn’t necessarily need it. He just needs adventure and gossip. It doesn’t have to come from a face to face source, but it doesn’t have to be alone to be enjoyable either
Helios: while he has a great stage face, that’s all it is, a fake face. Helios never liked the spotlight, it’s just another thing he endures so he can stay in the fight. He’d much rather be chilling alone in his Snuggie than dealing with people all the time
Artemis: she’d have been extroverted if she hadn’t been shut away in a hospital room for most of her life. Artemis is used to being alone, but she also loves interaction
Charm: he hates being alone with his thoughts. The brain is cold and hard, other peoples beds are soft and warm~ extrovert
Sugar: he just loves everybody! Of course he wants to hang out!! Total extrovert. If anyone argues otherwise they don’t know sugar at all
Sparks: I could repeat sugars answer and you have sparks pretty much. He loves everyone! Extrovert!
Salt: he’s ambivert as he likes people, but he likes his own space too. He needs a healthy balance of both to feel fulfilled
Lush: he’s a tragic extrovert. Lush craves companionship and company, but finds it very hard to make said friends that fufills that. So he pretends it doesn’t matter when it very much does. Please be friends with him!
Pepper: he’s incredibly picky about the company he keeps, and honestly doesn’t care if that means a few days alone or not. Pepper can entertain himself. But he does throughly love hanging out whenever with the ones he deems worthy. Ambivert
Sir: he’s a nosy bugger and likes being around every one so he can know what’s going on at all times. Sir is a great extrovert!
Weasel: he doesn’t really care if he’s causing chaos with friends, or just chilling alone. There are many ways weasel keeps himself entertained. He’s pretty independent. Ambivert
Butler: he tolerates large groups if he likes the people in them, but it doesn’t stop him from craving that sweet sweet alone time. He’s a social introvert.
Gold: while he does love being with friends, his social battery is way smaller than he acts it is actually. You can tell golds getting tired the more he flirts. He’s secretly hoping he can get this interaction over with so he can go back and work on his outfits
Flambe: all eyes on him ladies and gentleman~ extrovert lol. He loves attention too much not to be
Pesto: like Flambe, pesto craves attention and validation. And he wants it from lots of friends. He’s not in a place where he can feel that again, but he’s getting there. Extrovert
Peaches: he’s perfectly happy with just his trees, and family. But even with a large family, he knows he’ll get all his me time during his work in the orchid. He’s a sweet introvert
Rancher: he’s top goal driven to be introvert or extrovert. He doesn’t care if he’s alone or together with people, as long as he’s achieving the thing he wants to do right now!
Cider: he prizes peace, but peace can come in a group just as much as when it’s just him. Cider is used to a cramped large family, so being surrounded doesn’t bother him. But he’s also perfectly fine alone for a while. He’s definitely ambivert
Barley: he’s so extroverted he literally feels itchy if he’s been alone too long lol. Barley jokes that he’s allergic to solitude
Ram: things are just easier to understand when it’s just him. Ram does prize his alone time and peace. So introverted.
Pitch is easily the most introverted skeleton on this list. He’d be just fine socially if the only three people left in the world were him, Ram and maybe a nice gal/guy for ram lol.
Moose: he’s pretty introverted. While he does like outings, he wants to plan ahead for them. Or else he feels very drained afterwards. It is what it is
Maple: as long as a chainsaw is involved, maple doesn’t care if he’s alone or with 100 people. People that know chainsaw safety that is lol. He’s ambivert
Quill: he’s so introverted it hurts. Groups larger than 3 drain him so fast. He even needs breaks from best friends occasionally
Crow: he’s totally extroverted! Crow thinks people make everything so much more interesting! Yes he would like to hear about your day! Give him all those details!!
Roost: he’s a ladies man~ and a lads man~ and a platonic but flirty chill dude/dudettes guy! Roost just likes fun banter and prefers it over none at all. He’s pretty extroverted
Harpy: she truly doesn’t care if she does everything by herself, or if she has competent partners around her. In her main social life she’s seen as ambivert, but personally she feels as if she leans more towards introverted. While she puts up a good farce, she does just feel.. better alone. More calm.
Mango: she feels more secure surrounded by people she likes, preferably humans but she has monster friends too who’ve earned her trust! Mango is definitely extroverted!
Papaya: he’s more on the introverted side of the spectrum. Papaya is friendly and kind, but he simply just needs a dose of peace and quiet every day to function.
Fisher: his favorite activity in life is playfully tormenting others, and since that requires other people to work, extrovert it is~
Jasper: intellectually he knows he’s a walking dumpster fire if left to his own devices so Jasper constantly seeks out company from buddies. And he does like it lol. So he’s very extroverted
Finn: he quite literally took a job in the royal guard, then as a scout master cause it involves working with other people! Finn loves people and loves helping them! He’s extroverted for sure!
Sails: his ideal day is just him, his dog and a nice day out on his boat in the ocean. Nobody needing anything from him. Sails knows he’s an introvert and is cool with this about himself
Hook: he gets lonely easily, and seeks out lots of companionship and drama cause of it. Hooks always been extroverted because of this. It’s why he’s so happy on the ship with all his crew mates
Captain has honestly never had a life where he was alone. In his old au he shared a ship with many others, and now he captains a navy vessel with a crew on his own. He’d feel quite off if he ever did find himself alone. Captain is definitely extroverted
Pearl quite likes her relaxing me time, but she has no issues pleasing the masses as well as a princess. The spotlight on her is heavy but not exhausting. She’s a good ambivert.
Silex: this man is so extroverted lol. He wants to meet every one and see it all!!! It’s hard to imagine him as anything else
Alden: he’s happiest when it’s just him in his art studio. No distractions. Alden is for sure introverted even though he comes across as one of the more friendly skeletons
Ollivander: the reason his bank is so successful is because in part of how personable Ollie is! Ollivander is an extroverted fellow, and that friendly helpful face he puts on at work is very much genuine. Unless you aren’t paying your debts that is~
Hilda: she’s so obviously extroverted lol. And sucks for her since she was raised in a family of quiet polite high class introverts lol. Hilda felt pretty repressed growing up, leading to the over the top personality she has these days
Saga: she’s very much introverted. Saga is happy to just be left to her books for the rest of her life. But she will tolerate polite companions for a bit each day
Barin: he’s introverted, always has been. But his duties require him to manage a lot of people. So Barin powers through like he does with everything else in life. He really really values what little alone time he does have though
Arwin: he’s the extroverted life of the party! Arwin is a fan of having many fans and wears his posse like a badge of honor lol
Snipe: he hates people. And he probably hates you too. So don’t bother him. Introverted
Bruiser: he loves meeting his favorite people. And things are simply just too boring without them! So bruiser is very extroverted. He’s a needy friend lol
Butch: in order to kick *ss and take names, there needs to be *ss to kick and names to take, so for the sake of all his crazy shenanigans, butch must be extroverted lol
Boss: he craves companionship despite his best efforts to pretend he doesn’t. Boss feels quite lonely when he finds himself with nothing to do. Hence why he bosses his brothers around so much. He’s extroverted
Ace: causing chaos with (or against) others is fun~ causing chaos alone is also fun~ ace is a true ambivert
Slim: he’d rather hurl than have to be around people all the time. And his best friendships are more than often done through a screen. Slim is introverted all the way
Pop: he’s a very friendly and random introvert! He comes across as a quirky socialite though when- oh where did he go? Did he ditch every one again?
Rhythm: dancing is simply more fun with a partner so rhythm must be extroverted! Besides you need a mob to make a flash mob lol
Tempo: he’s very much introverted. After all he need solitude in order to make the compositions he loves! And he’s happiest when he’s creating
Vibrato: it’s a good thing he’s extroverted with how much he’s on stage! He loves his fans so much! And the paparazzi, and his bodyguards who keep him from the paparazzi lol
Lens: even without his paranoia, lens has always been more on the introverted side. There’s certain people he trusts enough to be fine around whenever, but anyone else is very tiring for him emotionally. It takes lens a long time to open up
Cricket: he’s introverted as well, a bit of a surprising fact for anyone who often sees him with cash and mal. Cricket likes his alone time at the junkyard. Only best friends can drag him away from it lol
G: he’s ambivert for sure. G does quite like being surrounded by people, but there’s something equally alluring with exploring life on his own too. He’s a go with the flow guy. Whatever fits better with that days plans works fine
Green: while socializing is enjoyable, green needs time to recoup and heal from it. He thinks very hard when he’s with people and even if he likes them and what they do together, he’s simply just tired afterwards. So introverted
Gears: he’s extroverted, but just barely. Gears can be alone for ages when he’s caught in creating a new trinket, but when he’s away from that (and lucid after he gets out of the inventors haze lol) he craves companionship! He wants to chat! To hang out! To be doted on lol
Compass: he’s a true ambivert. He’s happy playing and exploring on his own, but if someone wants to join he’s perfectly chill with adding them. No fuss. It’s not that deep for him
Zen: he’s an extroverted boy! Zen is just so curious about people. He wants to hear their stories! Plus it pleases the little host inside of him to have lots of others around!
Shield: hes ambiverted. While shield enjoys company, he also enjoys his independence quite a bit. Shield likes toeing the line between popular social guy and cool independent lone wolf. Why confine yourself to one label when you can have both?
Taffy: she doesn’t care for quantity of friends, just the quality. And if that means she’s alone sometime, well that doesn’t bother her. Taffy is a good ambivert
Pudding comes off as extroverted pretty easily, but she’s quite ambiverted really. Most of her social butterfly mask is just that, a mask. She enjoys the play bit doesn’t need it to feel fulfilled
Partner: he’s more introverted. And it reflects in what he does when he’s off the clock. When partner isn’t playing his part as sheriff, he takes a lot of time alone to himself
Rowdy never really got to explore himself socially as a child, so he’s trying very hard right now to come across as social open and adventurous. He’s been realizing over time though that he really just wants to be left to himself for most of the time. Adventure is only fun when it’s scheduled in with plenty of me time breaks in between. He’s an introvert
Stitches: he’s happy nerding out with friends, or nerding out alone! Online forums are a thing too. Stitches doesn’t need lots of companionship to be happy although it is fun. He’s ambivert.
Tinker: anyone who knows this monster can just smell the introvert oozing out of him lol. He crochets all day alone and loves it that way
Thistle: he’s extroverted! In fact he gets jittery if he’s been alone too long. He starts feeling unsafe. Loneliness is scary man
Yarrow: yarrow too is more extroverted for sure. Being raised in a coven all about family inclusion and stuff kinda leaves you no choice lol. He’s cool with it though

Favorite fall/chilly weather drink?
Rus - hot chocolate! Especially with lots of marshmallows. Might also really like white chocolate hot chocolate, but he doesn't like it with peppermint flavoring, or really any other flavoring besides maybe caramel.
Edge - spiced lattes. Whether it's nutmeg, cinnamon, "pumpkin spice", "spiced cider", whatever, as long as it's not too sweet too, he prefers his fall beverages with a shot of espresso lol
Stretch - mulled cider 1000%, he loves it soo much. Especially when they put a stick of cinnamon in as garnish? Forget about it.
Void - mulled cider black tea typically, but honestly any spiced tea is usually good with him. He doesn't usually add anything, but on the rare occasion he'll put a little honey in.
Cire (lovefell Sans) - dark hot chocolate with cayenne pepper. Him and his brother both love the stuff, and Lace's recipe is his favorite. The really thick, rich flavored kind.
Dusk (horrorfell Papyrus) - rooibus tea with a little brown sugar and milk. It's simple, and granted can be an any time of year favorite, but it's his favorite thing for a chilly fall morning on the porch, watching the leaves fall.
Blue - buttered rum. He’s got a little bit of a penchant for thick beverages, and he likes the way the sweetness is tempered well by strong, good quality rum. He doesn't drink often, but he makes an exception for buttered rum a few times every fall.
(Continuation from here)
#I forgor to post the others haha whoops!#I also realized too late the ask said Papyruses and I added sanses bc I was trying to add a little diversity I'm sorry </3#ut Rus#uf edge#us stretch#vf void#lf sans#hf dusk#us blue#sun spots

Revolution Tale Ch 4 con.
“Frisk please hold still, I don’t want to accidentally prick you.” Nanny Obedience begged, trying to pin the day pass to Frisks' coat. The child, who was bouncing excitedly, ready to go on more adventures, did their best to hold still for a moment. Around them monsters and humans alike were giving them curious glances, wondering why a child was going to be set free into the monster reservation.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, miss?” One of the soldiers whispered to the nanny, “They are just a child.”
“It is what the general wishes. Plus this child is stronger than they look” She straightened Frisks collar, “Alright, you remember what the professor told you right?”
Frisk nodded, looking around at all the monsters walking past.
“Good. You be careful, okay? And please try to-Frisk!” The child ran off as the nanny was talking, having caught sight of a familiar face. Obedience shook her head, climbing back into the carriage. “Take me home please.
Frisk didn’t even look back as the carriage drove off, their delight at spotting Toriel giving them tunnel vision.
“Oh my!” Toriel laughed, looking down at the child who had just wrapped their arms around her skirts. “If it isn’t my new friend.” She looked around, “What are you doing here? Didn’t Sans take you home yesterday, as he promised?”
Frisk nodded energetically then showed Toriel the day pass. At first she was confused, looking around again, as if someone was going to pop out and yell ‘Haha! We got you!’ And arrest her. But no, there was no danger, only human hating monsters. Dirty looks came from every side, but when they saw who the human was with they nodded respectfully, and scurried away. It wasn’t a secret that MayorAsgore’s wife was a human sympathizer, but if you wanted to stay out of trouble you wouldn’t bother her about it.
Such action would lead to a cup of tea with the Mayor, he never yelled, but the disappointment in his big doe eyes was enough to dust a person, makeing you feel guilty about your behavior without ever raising his voice. And if that weren’t bad enough, if Sans found out you had been disrespectful, you would feel that guilt running up and down your spine for weeks. No, it was best to say nothing and hurry past.
“Would you like to come over for some pie? I’m sure Flowie would love to see you again.”
Frisk fidgeted, obviously wanting to say yes, but then pointing to their pass again.
“I see, you are here to visit Sans. Well, lucky for you I just saw him a moment ago at Muffet’s Connivance, I’ll take you there.” She took the Child’s hand and started back the way she had come. “I’ll have to drop you off outside and then make my escape. Sans and I have a habit of talking for too long, and I have to get back to my laundry.” She smiled
oO0Oo
“How about I trade you something instead?” Muffet waved one of her hands around, motioning to the shelves of products behind her. The store was empty but for her and Sans, who was leaning against the counter.
“temptin’, but i need the g.” He smiled.
“Come on Sans. OH! I know, I can set you up at Grillby’s with one of my girls.”
“no”
“Boys?”
“the g, muffet.”
“Fine!” She opened the cash register with a ring and angrily picked out five gold coins. “Take. My. G. You. Jerk.” She snapped each gold pice on the counter individually.
“thank you.” He swiped the coins off the counter. “swindler wants more cider. offering one bag of flour for every two cases.”
“One for two? Hardly seems fair.”
“i talked him down from one for five.”
Muffet pulled a face, annoyed.
“i could tell him to take a long walk off a short pier.”
“No, no. I need the flour. Fine. I’ll have it by tonight. The usual place.” She sighed, closing the cash drawer. “Oh by the way, did you get the note to Papyrus?”
Sans placed the coins in his pocket, “i was meanin’ to ask you about that.” He leaned back over the counter. “what in the world does ‘skeleton underground’ mean?”
“I thought you weren’t interested in the ‘you know what’.” She teased.
“i ain’t, and if anything happens to pap because you and him are passing notes i’ll raise this store to the ground.” He shrugged, “but the humans seemed to know what it meant, so if i’m gonna’ protect pap i gotta know what it meant.”
Muffet pouted, “you don’t have to threaten me.” She looked around to make sure no one was listening, and whispered, “As for the note, I was hoping you would know. My spy was only able to send out the two words, and I haven’t herd from him since.”
“where did he go missing?” Sans leaned in closer, if he could just figure out what it meant, then he could know if it was a threat or not.
Behind him the door opened wide with the tinkle of bells and the exited babbling of a toddler. Sans stiffened and cursed under his breath.
“Is that yours?” Muffet asked. Frisk ran up to the skeleton, hopping and waving their hands about.
“unfortunately,” Sans looked at the kid, wondering how they had found him, then out the window he spotted Toriel waving to him. He sighed and waved back. Next to him Frisk had noticed the pastry case and was pressing their face up against the glass, admiring the doughnuts. Muffet retrieved one of the pastries for the child. “How did that happen?”
“it's a long story, and i ain’t got time. i’ll be seeing you around.” He pushed off the counter and headed to the door, but Muffet caught him by the collar, pointing down to the little sign in the case. ‘Doughnuts 2G’. Sans grumbled and dropped two coins into the spiders outreached palm.
“Pleasure doing business with you,” She cackled, the cash register chiming.
oO0Oo
Outside the streets were bustling. Monsters going every witch way, crammed together in the space. Sans weaved easily through the crowed, Frisk hot on his heals.
He looked down at the smiling child. “now what?” He mumbled to himself, as someone bumped into him.
“Pardon me.” They said.
“no problem fella.” Sans responded, then opened his previously empty hand. In it was a folded up pice of paper and three G. He placed the coins in his pocket and unfolded the paper, stepping out of the flow of traffic, pulling Frisk along with him. Then he broke off a pice of their doughnut and chewed it as he read. “easy enough,” he said to himself again, crumpling up the paper and adding it to his pocket.
“so. what to do about you then?” He leaned back against the store front they were stood in front of, contemplating the best corse of action. “alright,” He clapped his hands, “you go visit tori.” He pushed Frisk in the direction of Toriel’s house. “walk straight down this road till you hit the wall, then turn right. it’s her laundry day today, so she will probably be in the front. anyway you know what her house looks like.”
Frisk grabbed his hand, shaking their head.
“listen kid. i know you don’t understand this, but you’re bad for business and i gotta work. no ones gonna wanna hire me of your hangin around. plus i gotta go see a friend and she…doesn’t like visitors. so go on, go.” He pushed them off again and turned to walk down the street. “hope tori wont mind” He mumbled, preparing to take a short cut. Frisk, unwilling to let him get away so easily, tackled him from behind.
“what the he-” Sans managed to yelp, before the two of them disappeared from the street.
oO0Oo
The city of New Home sat on the knees of Mount Ebott. A tall proud mountain, covered in trees and other thick foliage. It wasn’t a place to go for a nice hike, since people were known to go completely missing with no warning in the dense forest. Monsters said humans were hiding in the trees to kill unsuspecting monsters. Humans said it was monsters waiting to eat hapless humans. Both said it was very much hunted. So no one ever stepped foot up the mountain, it was more trouble than it was worth.
In actuality the forest was a very nice place to be. A place where animals lived happily. Small streams wove through the land scape to eventually come to gather into a river, that then led into a great waterfall that seemed to have no end. The sun shone brightly and the sky was blue. Despite all the rumors it was a perfectly peaceful place. That is until Sans and Frisk burst into existence, tumbling a few feet before finally coming to a stop.
Sans moaned, sitting up slowly, checking his bones for any major injuries. “kid?” He slowly tilted his head from side to side, it was a little sore, but not too bad. “kid, if you died, don’t tell me. i don’t wanna know.”
Frisk popped up from where they had landed, waving to Sans to let him know they were okay.
“wonderful.” He signed. “look kid, you can’t jump me when i’m takin’ a short cut. i know i make it look easy, but it takes some concentratin’.” Sans got to his feet and dusted his pants off, Frisk copying him. “wheres my hat?”
The two of them began searching for the hat, Frisk dug in fallen leaves, looked under rocks, and behind trees. Behind one particular tree, just beyond Sans, Frisk saw something strange. Something white, and floaty. Something that was looking back. A ghost. Without so much as a shout, Frisk took off into the forest.
“there it is” Sans put his hat back on, “now where are we.” He looked around himself, at the sky, at the nearby stream. “right, okay. kid come here, i’m takin’ you baaaaa-aaand their gone.” Sans watched as Frisk disappeared behind a standing of trees. “papyrus was never this much work.”
“Sans?”
“oh, hey blooks, whatcha’ doin’ so far down the mountain?”
“Alphys needed a specific plant. Golden root. It doesn’t grow up near the mill.” Napstablook floated out from around the tree,
“right, too cold. i think i saw some just over here.” Sans waltzed over and pointed at a cluster of golden flowers growing in direct sunlight.
“Alphys is going to be so happy we found this.”
“is she out here too?”
“Yah, she’s just over-”
A scream cut through the air. Napstablook jumped and hid behind Sans, who sighed.
oO0Oo
Frisk hadn't gone very far before getting control of themselves. It was silly to be running away from Sans in a forest where they didn’t know where they were. Even if there was a ghost. They turned around to head back.
A little yellow monster was watching them, standing statue still, eyes wide. They stared at each other for a few moments. Then Frisk waved, and the monster screamed.
“Wh-what! H-how did you get up here!?” The Monster dashed behind a tree. “G-go away!”
For some reason Frisk felt a twinge of accomplishment at the sight of the yellow monster, but they pushed it out of the way and walked over to her. Trying to calm the monster down, making “It’s okay I won't hurt you” sounds.
“No. no. Go away! P-please!” She walked backwards around the tree, “stop fallow-ah!” She tripped on a root and fell over backwards.
“alphys?” Sans walked into the clearing, Napstablook right behind.
“Sans, t-thank g-goodness. You have t-to help me! Theres a-a human here!”
Sans helped her to her feet. “uh, yah. i can explain that actually.”
At that moment Frisk saw Napstablook again and panicked. Running over to hide behind Sans. This in turn frightened Alphys, who ran around to be on the other side of Sans.
“Here Alphys, we found the golden root.” Napstablook floated forward, holding out the flowers. Frisk, scooted around Sans to be further away from the ghost, making Alphys squeak in fear, and scoot around to be further away from the human.
“thats enough ring around the skeleton.” Sans laughed, grabbing them both, setting them on opposite sides of himself.
“How did a human get here?” Alphys asked, keeping her distance from Frisk, apprehensive.
“that’s sort of my fault actually. i was coming here and they, well…jumped me.” Sans looked down at Frisk who was still cowering behind him.”kid, what are you doing?”
Frisk pointed a shaky finger at Napstablook.
“what? blook? you telln’ me you’ll willingly run into a slum full of monsters, but ghosts are where you draw the line?”
Frisk shook their head and buried their face into Sans’ shirt. “come on, whats one more monster?”
“Technically I’m not a monster though. I’m a dead human.”
“still.” Sans pushes Frisk toward Napstablook. “kid this is napstablook. blook this is frisk.” Frisk walked forward tentatively.
“Oh, um, hello,” Napstablook waved. “It’s nice to meet you”
Frisk waved back.
“there see. you stop beein’ scared, and you got to meet a real live ghost.”
Napstablook paused, repeating Sans’ words to himself, then realized the pun. “S-sans! Thats not funny!”
“heh heh, sorry couldn’t help it.” he shrugged. “al we found your golden root.” He looked around but she wasn’t next to him any more, instead she was standing some ways off. “alphys? don’t tell me your suddenly scared of the blooks too?”
“N-no. of corse not, it’s the…them.” She points at frisk.
“really? i know you don't like humans, but this is just a kid. they can't hurt you.”
“B-but they can tell other humans where I am. And b-besides y-you said you wouldn’t bring anyone here u-unless you ask first.” She pouted.
“i didn’t bring them here on purpose, they jumped me.”
“Oh…w-well, t-they can still bring more humans here!”
“nah, like i said we took a short cut. even if the kid intended on tellin’ someone where you are, they couldn’t.”
Alphys stepped out from behind the tree. “Are you sure its safe?”
“mostly.”
“Promise?” “never.”
“Sans! Come on be serious!”
“Did I hear someone say Sans?” Came a voice from behind a grouping of trees. A tall pale man stepped into view. He was dressed in the latest French fashion. His long legs were made of ceramic and jointed like a dolls.
“Oh my dear, there you are.” He simpered, gracefully walking over to Sans. “You did have me worried, you know you were supposed to be here yesterday. You do remember that, don’t you?”
“yah, sorry, i got a little tied up.”
“Mmhmm? Well I’m glad you finally came by. My readers would be devastated if they were deprived of my wisdom. One woman wrote asking me about what she should ware to a ball this evening. I guess she will have to just decide on her own. Come come, lets go to the mill. They can put the rest of my response in the morning run.”
Without question the group fallowed behind Mettaton, except for Alphys. “Wh-whait!” She stammered, fidgeting with the joints on her prosthetic claw. “I think maybe y-you should, um, take the human away?”
Mettaton spun around gracefully, “Human?” He spotted Frisk, and sauntered over. “Forgive me, I didn’t see you. Are you a rogue fan come to see Auntie Mettaton in person?”
“don’t think the kid can read yet, ton.”
“Nonsense, your never too young for my advice.”
“s’not what I meant.”
“Let me see. You probably want a bit of help with your colors, yes? Lucky for you I happen to have some swatches at the mill. Come now little star, I shall guide you on the path to fashionableness.” Mettaton took Frisk by the hand and led them away toward the mill.
“B-but! drat.” Alphys mumbled. Sans put a hand on her shoulder, the two of them fallowed behind the group.
He was about ninety percent sure that the kid was nothing to worry about, just a bit of a nuisance really. But that other ten percent, that nagging feeling that something wasn’t quite right. He tried to look at the kids stats again, and as before they were normal. But for just a split second he thought he saw something, something hiding behind the normal. Then his socket began to ache so he closed it, running a finger over the cracks. It was hurting a lot more lately, maybe he wasn’t getting enough sleep, or maybe the wether was changing.
“storms rollin in.” He mumbled, looking at the perfectly blue sky.
oO0Oo
The rest of the day passed rather pleasantly. After about an hour, Alphys seemed to warm up to the presence of the child. Her mind turning from agitation to more important things. She struck up a conversation with Sans about her current experiment, taking him into the back room to ask his advice. He fallowed happily, always glad to be back in the apothecary.
Mettaton went about helping Frisk become a more fashionable young human. How to walk, how to stand, how to hold a tea cup in a way that told everyone else in the room that you were important and should be noticed. As for colors, Frisk was instructed to were more warm colors, such as red, and warned away from green in any form.
Napstablook was convinced into playing something on his fiddle so Mettaton could instruct Frisk in the ways of dance, which the child picked up rather quickly. “a star pupal” Mettaton had commented, after barley tweaking the Childs posture.
“There you go, one two three, one two three. You are a natural, little star.” Mettaton praised Frisk who giggled in happy response. “I haven’t had a decent dance partner since before the accident.” He sighed wistfully “ Ah but that was the past. Now is now. And now I have you little star.” He twirled Frisk.
When the sun began to set over the mountain Mettaton gave Sans his replies for the paper, baying him to take them quickly to the press to be printed. Sans assured him they would be on time, and that he would bring a copy as soon as it was available. Frisk said goodby to their new friends, and then took Sans’ hand.
Sans surprised himself by not being bothered by this, as he had been. Remembering back to a time when he and his brother would go everywhere hand in hand. It was hard not to get nostalgic with this kid around, and he wasn’t sure he liked it. He shrugged it off, quickly doing the calculations in his head to teleport them to the entrance to the slum.
“alright kiddo.,there’s your nanny. get going before she starts another witch hunt. oh and uh, don’t mention alphys, i think she would faint dead away if she thought you were tellin’ people about her. kay?”
Frisk didn’t respond to this, rubbing their eyes and yawning. Leaning heavily against Sans arm.
“right. okay go on.” He give Frisk a little nudge. Frisk began to run over to Nanny, but turned around, running back to Sans to give him a hug.
“alright, alright.” He mumbled patting the kid on the head. “your nanny’s watin’” Frisk cooed at the pat, then let go, ready to go home and sleep. Sans tipped his hat to Obedience, who nodded curtly.
“Let’s head home.” Nanny opened the door to the carriage. The professor was waiting inside, Frisk, stoped getting in the carriage, nervous at her sudden appearance.
“Hello Frisk. Have a seat.” She waved to the bench across from here. Nanny helped Frisk inside and sat them down. “I’m very exited to here about your day.” The professor said, pulling something, out of her pocket. “Why don’t you tell me all about it?” She ran her finger over the polished surface of a small brass bell.
The door of the carriage closed and it took off. Sans found himself waving at it as it drove away, a soft ringing drifting to him on the twilight breeze. He slowly put his hand in his pocket, and looked around, a little embarrassed. There was no one around however. Just the guards at the gate who were paying him no mind. With a yawn he stepped back behind the walls of the slum. First he would take Mettaton’s replies to the paper, then he would head over to Grillby’s. Just a small brake before he had to head down to the docks for the Muffet job, he thought to himself, whistling the tune that Napstablook had played earlier that day.

UT,UF,US Favorite Seasons
Undertale!
Sans: Spring •He enjoys the smell of rain and the atmosphere it brings it reminds him of waterfall.
•Lazy rainy days spent cuddled up in his bed with the sound of the rain against the rooftop and a soft blanket. Sounds perfect to him. It's hard to get him out of bed on these days and even if you do he's still pretty sleepy all day even more so than usual.
•He does enjoy the scenery and likes to stop and look at the flowers on the rare occasion he goes on walks, and if he does go on a walk it's going to be on a cloudy spring day with somewhat cool temperature.
•Lets not forget about his favorite holiday April Fools day! He goes hard on this day and his brother and the others try to steer clear of him but he always ends up getting them anyways. His pranks are normally practical but he sometimes whips out elaborate pranks. Most of the time people stumble upon whoopie cushions, bubble wrap under carpets, rigged air horns, and misplaced items for days after the holiday.
Papyrus: Summer •Paps loves being out and about under the summer sun when the temperature is nice and he can show off in his cropped shirts. He owns a bunch of them, his closet is sorted by season and his summer one is mostly cropped shirts with the occasional tank top and short sleeved shirt.
•Owns atleast 15 pairs of sunglasses that he tapes to his face when going. He has a collection of different tapes for this and chooses a different one for each mood. Made the mistake of using duct tape one time and had gunk stuck to his skull for days so he uses washi tape now.
•Definitely owns a straw sun hat and on the topic of hats I feel like he would love bucket hats too.
•He doesn't have the biggest sweet tooth but he enjoys the sweet treats that come with summer too like nice cream and watermelon.
•Will get into the shallow end of the pool (skeletons sink) and splash around with Undyne until Undyne gets to excited and tosses him into the deep end making him stuck at the bottom for the next ten minutes till she stops laughing and drags him out.
Underfell!
Red: Fall •Dont tell anyone but he's a pumpkin spice enjoyer
•He loves the changing of the leaves and the crunch of the fallen ones under his boots. Plus fall is the best time to show off his leather jackets and sweaters.
•Pumpkin carving is one of his favorite activities and he gets pretty intricate with his designs. He always places them outside their door and gets blushy and sweaty over compliments he's really proud of his work just not used to recognition.
•Loves the chill in the air and let's not forget Halloween and spooky movies. He absolutely loves Halloween and he definitely goes to haunted houses. He tried to drag his brother along one time and Edge almost punched someone in the face so now he goes alone or with friends.
Edge: Fall •He's a Spider Cider drinker. He loves the warmer hot drinks and a nice cup of Spider Cider and fall itself for some reason he can't place makes him feel nostalgic and while his childhood wasn't the best he does like thinking about the good memories with his brother.
•Enjoys going for walks in the park and the crisp fall air especially at night. He has a strict sleep schedule but he extends it by a small amount to enjoy the fall night weather.
•Not big on horror movies it's not that they're scary they're just pretty boring to him. He does enjoy occasionally watching them with his brother but would never watch one by himself. He just likes spending time with his brother when he gets the chance, something he'd never admit.
•He loves Halloween decorations, skeleton ones do make him uncomfortable sometimes especially if they're naked but he finds them humerus (hehe) after a short adjustment time his first year. Red got a skeleton and changed it to Edges likeness on year. Edge rolled his eyes at it but he keeps the skeleton in his closet and thinks it's pretty funny to dress up sometimes.
Underswap!
Stretch: Spring •Stretch also enjoys April Fools day as this man is a practical pranker all the way. Often teams up with Sans to tag team the others but all's fair in love and war and the truce is often broken by Stretch himself. He just can't help it.
•Bees start becoming active in the spring and Stretch is a big fan of the little pollinators. Not only do they make honey they're adorable to him and help the ecosystem to continue functioning by spreading pollen.
•I know it's been clarified his cigarettes are not weed but as a stoner I'm making one of my favorite boys a stoner in my au. He celebrates 4/20 with a joint or two and some major munchies while watching the midnight gospel.
•Stretch enjoys the rain as well but more thunderstorm rain while sans enjoys light drizzles. He likes the lightning and can often be seen chilling outside while a thunderstorm is happening storm watching. His first thunderstorm was a mess as him and Blue had never experienced thunder before and were rightfully scared but when he saw the lightning for the first time he was mesmerized. He got over his fear by counting the seconds in between the lighting and thunder and continued to do so for the next few storms but isn't really afraid anymore.
Blue:Winter •Blue loves the snow, it reminds him of Snowdin and there's so much fun stuff you can do in it. He always builds a snow version of himself to stand proud outside their house when winter comes.
•He's a hot cocoa drinker and does enjoy having a little peppermint stick in it as well as some whip cream. He owns a few different types of hot cocoa but his favorite is the one made of real chocolate and milk. He enjoys all the cookies and sweets that come with the season as well. He likes to bake cookies to share with his neighbors.
•Always starts his Gyftmas gift list months ahead of time and does his Gyftmas shopping early as well. He likes to be prepared even though he often buys surprise little gifts he uses as stocking stuffers. Speaking of stockings he and Stretch decorated theirs themselves and Blues definitely has a lot of glitter on it.
•His favorite holiday is Gyftmas and he always over decorates the house. He just gets into the spirit really easily and when he sees something in a store he likes he has to get it to decorate the house with, he's a little bit of an impulsive shopper. He has a little miniature Gyftmas village he always adds a little to each year, it's a tradition he started his first Gyftmas on the surface after Stretch made a joke about using one of the miniature trees as their actual Gyftmas tree

A lack of forgiveness
In the next moment, you find yourself in the ruins, in the room of the spider bake sale. You are standing at the entrance to the room and can see Frisk buying a few donuts and cider from the spiders. When she is finished and put them in their inventory, they see you in the doorway and freezes.
You can tell from her eyes that she has been crying, and almost constantly. "C-Chara...? Is that really you...?"
You don't say anything, you can barely stand to look at them. Despite what Wing had done you still held hate in your heart for them. Everything that they had done was unforgivable, and you aren't just going to forget it.
It seems they realize this, "Oh, yeah, I get it. I wouldn't want anything to do with me either. I'm surprised you're even here, I'm glad, very glad, but surprised. I understand that you wont talk to me, you don't have to, but it's nice to have you here."
You still say nothing, choosing to turn away from them entirely. You can't understand why Wing would ever think this could work out.
Frisk makes the rest of their journey to the end of the Ruins rather easily. Though they stop to greet every single monster they see, going out of their way to try and make their days better.
You don't think much of this, you can only wonder when it will end, when they will go back to their old ways.
When they reach the final fork, they don't even look in the direction of the balcony. It doesn't matter, monsters die in one hit from a betrayal kill anyway.
Frisk has their usual interactions with Toriel, choosing to talk to her a bit before going to bed. They climb into bed and lay there for a time. You are still as far from them as you can be, arms crossed and facing away from them. If you could turn invisible right now, you would.
After a time of silence, Frisk speaks. "Chara, I'm sorry."
This again, when will they learn that an apology means nothing?
"I know that saying it means nothing, but I mean it. I don't deserve your forgiveness but understand, I no longer have any desire to go down that road again. After dying to Sans hundreds of times I felt myself fading away little by little. I felt that if I continued I wouldn't be able to go back, that that would be it. It scared me, I was starting to become afraid of death again. Maybe he was somehow shaving away my LV I don't know."
Why were they saying all of this, it wasn't going to matter. You felt that they deserved to die over and over, it was cathartic for you to watch them die.
"But when you took over, everything changed."
You tense up at the mention of you taking over. You can still feel everything from that point. The wind against your skin, the sounds of battle, the knife in your hand. You grit your teeth to prevent yourself from shouting at them to shut up.
"While you were in control, all the memories of what I had done kept flashing before me. All those innocent monsters, Papyrus, Undyne, Muffet, Mettaton. I couldn't handle it, it was all too much. "
You continue to remain silent, you didn't care for their words, though you also couldn't ignore them either. You still harbor hatred for what they did, but maybe, just maybe, they are actually sorry.
Your continued silence signals to them that you don't want to talk, so they turn over to go to sleep. After a few minutes they start having a nightmare. At first you think they deserve it for what they did but when they start mentioning their parents is when you decide to step in.
You start softly singing a gentle lullaby and soon, they sleep soundly. You look over them as they do, flabbergasted that this same person not too long ago was slaughtering people for fun.
Maybe you could try to trust them again.

Rus Serrif
You can smoke all you like, drink away your woes, but you can't escape your mind. SF!Red Papyrus, my silly skeleton with dog motifs. Headcanons below!
- Official height is 6'7
- He/They
- Heavy alcoholic
- Plays electric guitar
- Consumes BBQ Sauce
- Unhealthy amounts of dedication for those he loves
- Good friends with Coffee, Stretch, and Cash
- Very touchy and clingy if he likes the person's company, but he's distant otherwise
- Engineer
- Writes as a hobby, but drawing is his secret hobby
- Admires Red
- Curious of people, but he is weary of them. He'll give them a chance though if they show that they're willing to put in effort
- He would often try to be close to Carmine underground. He was desperate and was willing to cause a scene at times
- He adores praise and shows it
- He doesn't like to fight and will divert from fighting unless cornered. The only time he'll confront someone is if someone he cares about is being bothered
- Stingy if people owe him, keeps track of debts and is good at returning them
- He prefers dogs
- Has severe anxiety and attachment issues
- charming, quiet, observant, loyal, carefree, intuitive, lazy, impulsive, cynical, protective, lethargic, nosy, pessimistic, clingy, and untrusting
- He curses frequently
- Has around four rings, usually always wears them
- Doesn't feel the need to tell others he's intelligent, so some monsters and humans assume that he's lazy and stupid
- Not afraid to speak up despite his reserved and quiet nature. He hates seeing someone getting pestered
- He is very flirty when drunk, but still very much respectful
- The most loyal Papyrus
- Slower to trust others, he actively remains neutral with others unless they sway his opinion of them on their own
- Fan of PDA but he's willing to compromise if needed
- Sees Powder, Wine, and Razz as an older brother overtime
- Magic smells like Maple, magic tastes like spiced apple and cider
- Has a bit of a drawl in his tone, his nickname sounding like "darlin'"
- Loves pies and curry, and appreciates his brother for making them
- He knows sign language even if he doesn't remember why, he used it to befriend Coffee
- Can be extremely jealous and protective
- He has a huge sweet tooth
- Has heightened senses
- Will call Carmine "milord" if he thinks his brother is being overbearing and on his high horse. It used to be a nickname he'd call him since he knows it annoyed him, but now it's in a teasing manner and a reminder to Carmine to tone it down
- Smokes with a Zippo lighter
- Has yellowed bone
- Has two golden hip chains that act as leashes for his gaster blasters when they are activated. I thought it would be cool since UF Sans (Red) has his rings count as leashes for his Gaster Blasters and also has gold chains. Design choice babyyyy
- Used to drink and cause chaos for Carmine when their relationship started to deteriorate, but at the same time he was extra clingy and emotional. He would even reach a point he forgot their tension and just was desperate to be close with his brother
- A romantic who can be super sappy with others
- He can be a rude ass motherfucker when drunk if he is pissed with someone, as he is more blunt and would smoke in their face without a care
- Likes fist bumps when greeting friends, and uses a small wave as a greeting instead of a handshake. He only uses handshakes if he wants to test someone
- Calls Chara "Runt"
- Sniffles and whimpers when crying, tries to be quiet but ends up being loud
- He informs Carmine where he goes, and he appreciates when Carmine checks up on after they move to another timeline with the other skeletons
- Let's Coffee cling onto him when in crowded areas, but he'll cling onto others when Coffee isn't present
- would call his lover darling
- Loves to listen, and so he doesn't ramble a lot
- When he is really interested in something, such as a video game, he has to be asked first for him to actually see that someone is willing to listen to him ramble. He gets a little embarrassed and a little shy though
- He doesn't take disrespect for his brother or loved ones, even if he does nothing for someone talking direct shit to his face about him. He's passive aggressive, and finds ways to make them shut up
- He is wonderful at collecting black mail and gathering information about someone. However, he's reclusive and this means that no one is good at figuring out information about him. The closest anyone has ever gotten to knowing about him and the truth about his history was his universe's Undyne, but he destroyed that information before she could find out. Only the Queen truly knows, and this is used against him, which makes him "loyal" to her as a result
Closing Notes: he's so dog motif coded like oh my god this dude has racked my brain and I swear that this skeleton has left me thinking about him for hours before because wow he's so silly but oh my god I need to hold him and let him cry because he needs it. I'm so normal about him.

Whumptober Day 22: Tourniquet
“Oh, stars! Ma’am, you’re bleeding! What happened?! What do we do?!” Blue stammered, sockets wide as saucers. Papyrus already had silent tears of horror streaking down his cheeks.
“K-Keep your heads on, sweetlings,” Muffet breathed. “Stay calm.”
It was a tall order; her own soul was racing at the amount of dust drizzling from her arm. It certainly wasn’t the first cut she got in the kitchen but it was deeper than most, turning the hand towel compress gray.
“Papyrus, storage room. Spider Cider, q-quick as you can. Sans, your neckerchief. Let’s see the tightest, sturdiest knot of your life.”

BD&H chapter 4
Masterpost Wattpad Quotev Ao3 ch. 3 | x | ch. 5
Summary: The monsters have been on the surface for a few years now, and even after being legally given citizenship, humans are still wary of them.
When monsters start disappearing, their dust is swept under the carpet even as the Ebott City Police Department try their best to get to the bottom of it. Then humans start disappearing and citizens revolt against what looks like retaliation. Kate, an independent, newly recruited detective, decides to take matters into her own hands when her superiors fail to make sufficient progress.
With the help of the other recruits and her new monster friends, she’ll have to find the culprit lest she lose both her job and the rights of monsterkind.
Chapter warnings: mild swearing, (and it's a bit longer than the other ones)
4. Succour Stunts
Escapes, escapades, and tiers of frustration. Also, kids say the darndest things!
I found myself standing at the back of the line in Muffet’s, my feet having led me there after brunch with my dad. As much as it was nearing lunch time, I needed some comfort food and I had quickly equated that to Muffet’s over the past week. Despite my best efforts not to, my mind wandered back to our meeting earlier and I grimaced at the disappointed look he gave me when I finally entered the bistro he had suggested.
“Hello dearie!” I started at the sound of Muffet’s cheery voice. Shaking my head, I offered her a smile and returned her greeting. “What would you like today?”
My mind drifted back to the lavender puffs I got on Friday. She had brought them to the station before her shift that morning and had left them with Felix. They were the perfect treat that eased my nerves and my muscles after another surprise training session with Alphys in the afternoon.
“Do you still have those lavender puffs?”
“Secret menu item,” she winked, two of her eyes closing briefly before ringing it up on the register and looking back at me expectantly.
“An everything bagel and the peppermint cider too, please. For here.”
She rang up my total and I paid her before looking for somewhere to sit. Being the weekend, it was a lot more crowded and I found myself sitting by the counter as I waited for my order. I placed my head on the smooth surface for a moment, my eyes drifting toward my shoes and their mismatched laces. I hadn’t even realised there was a problem until my dad frowned at the sight of them when we met.
“Did you like them?” I shot up at the sound of Muffet’s voice breaking my thoughts. She was looking at me expectantly, a non-existent line waiting for her attention.
Thinking back to the sensation of me biting into the fluffy pastry on Friday, I nodded my head with a smile on my face. “They were just what I needed, thank you.”
“Don’t thank me. Thank Papyrus.”
“Where is he anyway?” She shrugged, rolling over to attend to a customer before coming back.
“Why? Miss him already?” her eyes gained a mischievous glint to them as her lips curled upwards. I scoffed.
“No. Just seemed like a regular.”
“A regular waste of my time, maybe.” She rolled her eyes as she went to the backroom. I chuckled at her comment as I waited for her to return. In her absence, my eyes wandered back to my shoes and I tucked them onto the footrest of my seat so they would be out of sight. Taking a shaky breath in, I let the scents and the buzz of the magic atmosphere fill my lungs before swinging on the stool and surveying the café. The hum of talking customers and gentle music lulled me into serenity such that I jolted again when Muffet returned with my order.
“Thank you,” I smiled, cupping the warm mug.
Seeing as it was nearing lunch, the flow of customers slowed down enough for us to hold an actual conversation. She talked about how Flynn didn’t come by on Friday and I admitted that it may have been my fault. She only laughed in response, saying that he was just a scaredy cat before talking about another customer who she had accidentally spooked.
I finished up my order. By the time she was wrapping up her third story, a new customer came in and grabbed her attention before she could start another one. I hesitantly thanked the spiders that collected my dishes before swivelling in my chair to see who it was. She lit up as she recognised them while I struggled to recall their name.
“Hello Miss Muffet!”
“Sans! What brings you here?” I recited the name in my mind so that I wouldn’t forget what was probably Papyrus’ brother. He wasn’t in uniform this time, instead donning a grey-blue fitted shirt, cotton shorts and white sneakers.
“I’m looking for Papyrus. Have you seen him?”
Muffet shook her head. “He hasn’t stopped by yet, but I’m sure he’ll show up soon. You can wait if you want.”
He considered the offer for a moment, staring at the floor, before finally sighing and nodding his head decisively. He took the empty seat beside me before ordering a blueberry muffin.
“Oh- Pardon me,” he said, after paying and noticing me.
“No worries, Advocate.”
A light blue dusted his cheeks as he wrinkled his nose ridge. Seeing the passive magic and the bone move so easily was mesmerising at the very least, and boggling at the most. I shook myself from my thoughts so as not to be caught staring.
“Please. Just Sans is fine when I’m not on duty. Although-” He eyed me warily, his demeanour becoming more defensive. “I’m not sure we’ve met.”
“Oh! I’m Kate from the academy recruit programme. Kate the human,” I offered my hand and he eyed it warily before taking it. Guess he didn’t like jokes like Papyrus, then.
“It appears you’ve met my brother, then.”
I nodded my head in answer. “Quite the punny guy.”
“On the contrary.” He puffed out his chest and I was surprised by how much form there was to bone. “I am the magnificent punmaster .”
“Is that so?” I asked. His eye sockets narrowed as his grin became more challenging and before I knew it, we started telling puns back and forth.
We ribbed off each other, switching topics as quickly as they came until I couldn’t anymore and he easily continued without me. I was pleasantly surprised that he enjoyed puns which made me wonder why his brother didn’t seem to like them. When his food arrived, the conversation mellowed out into asking about my first week of being a recruit.
“It was okay, but I can see it getting old fast.”
“Of course! There’s only so much that you are permitted to do as a citizen, but as long as you complete the hours required of you, that should change!” He gave me an exaggerated wink and I chuckled, asking him how his training had gone.
He wrinkled his nose, but didn’t answer as his attention was directed elsewhere. I turned to see what he was looking at and waved in greeting when I noticed Papyrus. He was wearing army green cargo shorts, a black crewneck and white socks peeking out from a pair of orange crocs. He winked at me in return before removing a lollipop from his mouth when he was close enough to talk without disrupting the other patrons.
“Sup bro.”
“Papyrus, please pick up your phone.”
“Okay.” He did just that, a shit eating grin on his face as Sans just looked on with patience. When he looked at the screen of his phone, his smile fell.
“Oh. Oh shit. Sorry bro.”
Sans hummed beside me, swinging his legs on the stool. “It’s okay now. Just pick up your phone, please? Will you be making dinner tonight?”
Papyrus considered it, sticking the lollipop back into his mouth before finally nodding in answer. By this point, I was completely lost and slightly disoriented as the conversation switched to the mundane so quickly. And then Sans turned to me with a gasp, stars illuminating his sockets briefly as he spoke with sudden excitement.
“Oh, Kate! You should come over for dinner sometime!”
“O-kay?” I was still kind of reeling, not that I could say no to an invitation like that. Free food was always nice, and the prospect of making monster friends was exciting, if not a bit nerve wracking. I considered the outfits I had in my closet. Dinner at someone’s house wasn’t that formal, right?
“Excellent! We shall commemorate the beginning of a magnificent friendship through an equally magnificent meal, mweh heh!” He had a similar excited look as when he first introduced himself on Monday with the same infectious excitement. I found myself giggling as he buzzed with excitement over the dinner plans.
“Alright. Thank you, Miss Muffet.” He placed a tip inside her overflowing tip jar. Did she just not clear it out or was it a daily occurrence to fill up like that?
“Brother.” He gave him a nod, Papyrus giving him a mock salute in response before turning to me and taking my hand in another handshake.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Kate!”
I replied in kind and he left the establishment, Papyrus taking his now vacant seat. He asked for an everything bagel with his honey. When she asked whether he would pay, he just winked and said eventually. I considered leaving, having already stayed in the little café for more than what I had originally planned—although, coming here was never actually part of the plan—but then Papyrus turned to me and grinned, and I figured I could stay for a little longer.
“You guys are quite the punny duo,” I commented, swinging on my seat with my own smile on my face.
“What can I say? Humerus in our blood,” he replied, shrugging his shoulders. I still couldn’t tell whether he actually didn’t like puns or was messing with me, but I chuckled all the same.
“Thanks for the recommendation on Wednesday.”
“Oh yeah. How were they?” He spoke with the lolly in his mouth, moving it around every few seconds.
“They were puff-ect,” I grinned. He snorted, but still gave me a disappointed shake of his head. A couple of spiders brought his food, wrapped in pastry paper to go, and I figured it was about time I should be leaving too.
Collecting my purse, I bid him and Muffet a nice day as a notification buzzed on his phone. They both returned the gesture, Papyrus responding to whoever it was. I briefly wondered how it worked before shaking my head and leaving the place. It was another warm day and I basked in the sunshine outside the café for a moment, pleased that I had decided to come here. Just as I was about to start for the bus stop, Papyrus came out and called for me. I turned in answer and waited as he typed quickly on his phone before shoving it in one of the pockets of his shorts.
“You said you like pranks, right?”
“In good taste, sure,” I replied, an amused smile on my face. A smirk grew on his skeletal features.
“Enough to join a prank war?” A surprised laugh escaped me at the notion, but when my laughter subsided and he was still looking at me expectantly, I realised he wasn’t joking.
“A prank war?” I crossed my arms and shifted my weight to one side, still looking amused.
He bobbed his head in answer, his smile only growing. “You free this afternoon?”
I shook my head; he was completely serious about this, huh? “Yeah. Who would we be fighting?”
“My protégé.”
“You have one?” That caught me off guard. I wondered what he would even be teaching before realising that I barely knew this guy past his name and his penchant for jokes. I frowned at the thought, thinking back to the decision I had made earlier on in the week.
“Yep,” he said, bringing me out of my musings. “And they think they can beat the legendary prank master.”
“A bold claim,” I responded, shifting my weight again. “And an even bolder protégé if it’s true.”
He bobbed his head again, taking out his phone and typing something quickly again. “So, you coming?”
I considered the offer. It could be fun, and it wasn’t like I had much planned after all. The wind ruffled my hair that I had removed from their cornrows for the occasion. I was reminded that I needed to make a hair appointment, reminded that I wanted to be home and in pyjamas, binge some anime or other, but his easy grin and casual attire also reminded me that I didn’t know him all that well and I wanted to change that.
I mentally backtracked, realising that that was plenty of reason not to go pranking someone I barely knew with someone I barely knew. But I couldn’t deny how enticing being in a prank war was, and if he asked, then there couldn’t actually be anything odd about this whole situation. Right?
I shook my head again, as if to dispel any doubt in the decision I was making. “Okay. Guess I’m joining a prank war, then.”
He looked up from his phone with a lazy grin on his face. He removed the lolly from his mouth as he spoke. “Nice. Our ride’s just about here.” He pointed to a boxy, light blue car with white details and no roof slowing to a stop in front of the café. Inside was a robot of similar colours on the passenger side and an exhausted looking anthropomorphic blue rabbit monster at the steering wheel. The robot rose from their seat, white hair shifting in the breeze underneath a blue cap.
“Get in, losers, we’re going pranking!”
I laughed. There was no way this was actually happening. Even as I sat at the backseat in a state of blissful delirium, radio blasting unfamiliar music and the wind tangling my hair as we sped down the roads of Ebott City, I could not believe this was actually happening.
“Who’s the chick?” The robot asked, having resurfaced from a soft conversation with the rabbit monster. He was twisted around his seat to look back at us, his gloved hand gripping the back of the seat as his eyes whizzed over my form suspiciously. I became more aware of the green bodycon dress I was wearing and started wondering whether it was prank war efficient.
“Kate. She’s our wildcard.” Is that why I was invited?
The robot considered me through their white bangs for a moment before giving his full attention to Papyrus. “Well, we might actually need one. Happi’s telling me Alphys is babysitting.”
“Shit.” While it seemed like information that was supposed to worry them, neither of them looked perturbed in the slightest. They both held smirks on their faces and playful glints in their eyes, while I started panicking internally. There was no way I was about to prank someone who could easily avenge herself the next time we trained. My Friday sores started throbbing at the thought of her being more merciless.
“Right?” The robot continued, breaking me out of my thoughts. “Whatever happened to good ol’ Knighty?”
“Kid’s been saying Tori’s busier,” Papyrus replied, getting another lollipop from his shorts’ pocket. He offered me one, but I shook my head politely.
“What’s that got to do with anything?” He shrugged and the conversation died, the robot still facing us but not looking at us.
In the silence, I asked for the details of who we were pranking. The robot started out of their stupor, scowling at me before facing the front. I frowned before Papyrus’ chuckles drew my attention to him, looking for an answer.
“Chara.”
The name rang a bell and I realised that I had seen it multiple times in the paper; it was the name of the monster-human ambassador, the saviour of monsterkind. I also realised that that must be his protégé and my eyes widened in shock. Papyrus snickered at my reaction.
“Yup.”
At the sudden slowing down of the car, I looked around myself to see we were in a residential area. I leaned out of my seat in wonder when my eyes caught sight of some of the houses. In contrast to the uniform, modern look the inner city had, these houses were all unique and held a certain whimsy to them that reminded me of Muffet’s. I gazed in awe at the twin houses leaning towards each other, neither touching nor falling, and the yellow two storey with blue details that seemed to imitate a face. They all had bright green front lawns decorated with what I assumed to be the owner’s personal touches, and a scattering of various types of flowers either by the windowsills or growing wild on the grass. It was a nice break from the monotony of the city and as we had driven closer to the mountain, the view was breathtaking and the air crisp. The whole place felt alive with magic and I felt myself getting excited at the prospect of dinner with Papyrus and Sans if they lived around here.
We neared what looked like an estate and I had to consciously refrain from dropping my jaw in awe. Past a gilded gate guarded by a pair of monsters, was a long driveway that led to a large cream coloured house. It didn’t reach for the skies as I would assume a building in this type of space would do, but instead sat modestly on top of a slight incline where it could still clearly be seen. The rest of the compound was decorated with an abundance of plants all meticulously taken care of, with a few bushes shaped as various monsters or the insignia of monsterkind. I realised with mild horror, as I studied a particularly regal looking goat topiary, that the owner, ‘Tori,’ was the former Queen Toriel Dreemurr of the Underground, and we were about to prank her ward.
At her house.
Maybe it had been a bad idea to come here after all.
The car stopped at the closest house to the estate, still a fair way away from it before the robot turned in his seat again. He started talking to Papyrus as I started the tedious process of making my hair look more presentable.
“Okay, so what’s the new plan? Cause we can’t put Alphy to sleep like Knight Knight.”
“Easy,” he replied, removing the lollipop from his mouth. “We use a distraction.”
The robot turned to me with a smirk that had me preferring their annoyed dismissal, and I started seriously regretting my decision to join them. Papyrus chuckled beside me and I shot him an exasperated look. He explained the plan vaguely, saying how everything would be pretty much the same, except instead of putting the babysitter to bed, we would have to distract her and include her in the final play. I tried asking what that would entail, but the robot—who I learned to be called Entity—brushed me off and had us driven to the gate.
I glared at the back of his head as we were immediately stopped by the guards, an anthropomorphic cat and alligator duo dressed in similar—and stylish—guard uniforms. They stood in front of the car, one on either side, before they addressed the driver.
“State your business,” the alligator started.
“Or like, we won’t let you in,” the cat continued.
“Wait- Catty? Is that who I think it is?”
The cat monster—Catty—squinted toward the front seats before gasping dramatically. “OMG! Bratty! I think it is!”
The rabbit monster in the driver’s seat bristled uncomfortably, their ears drooping further down their face, while Papyrus and Entity chuckled.
“Burgerpants! You should have told us you would stop by!”
“Seriously! We would have like, totally cancelled on Alphys if we knew you were coming.”
The rabbit—Burgerpants—sighed before smiling softly. “Ladies, hey. Nice weather we’re having, right?.”
“Um, I guess?”
“If you like, like the sun,” Catty giggled.
“Ha! Yeah…” He fidgeted in his seat, Entity shaking with laughter. I narrowed my eyes at the back of his head, deciding then that I didn’t like the douchebag and hoping he would short circuit.
“Did you like, wanna hang out or something?” Catty asked, leaning on the car.
“Or like, actually get inside?” The alligator monster—Bratty—followed suit, cocking her head to the side in question.
“Girls, girls. You’re making my friend here uncomfortable.” Entity took charge of the conversation, a charming smile on his face as the monster duo turned their attention to him.
“State your business,” Bratty said, her face shifting to boredom as she pushed away from the car.
“And like, be quick about it?” Catty followed suit, moving her attention to her claws. He deflated slightly, making Papyrus snort loudly which made the duo turn their attention to him.
“Are you here to tutor Asriel, Papyrus?” Catty cocked her head to the side in question. My brows furrowed at the unfamiliar name. I thought we were here for Chara?
“Heh, yeah,” he replied, stifling the rest of his laughter.
“Well, you should have said so earlier!”
“Like, way earlier.” Bratty exaggerated the ‘way,’ making it way longer than it needed to be.
“Yeah. Before we had to talk to the tin can.” Catty made a gesture toward Entity who bristled in outrage but didn’t say anything. Papyrus shrugged and, getting no other response, the monster duo went to open the gate.
We drove through, Papyrus shaking with laughter the entire ride up to the house while I tried to wrap my head around what just happened. The car was parked at the top of the circular driveway and I barely had any time to admire the house from up front before Entity was moving.
“Okay, babe,” he started, swinging himself over the door of the car. I would have been impressed had he not been referring to me that way. “Just follow my lead, and we’ll be fine.”
I stepped out of the car warily after an encouraging nod from Papyrus, leaving my purse behind. Falling in step behind his quickly moving frame, I tried calling for his attention. He whipped his head back at me, white locks of hair shifting in the wind while an amused expression fell on his face.
“What’s the plan?”
“Just follow my lead.”
“No way. If Alphys is in there, I am not going in unprepared.”
“You know Alphys,” he said instead, his face lighting in what looked like the formation of an idea. I hesitated in my response, not trusting what was going through his head. He finally grinned at me before ringing the doorbell, and I wondered if I could get away with ‘accidentally’ pouring water on him.
He considered me for a second before the door swung open to reveal an annoyed looking Alphys. She donned blue jeans and a black tank, her muscles bulging as she crossed her arms, surveying us with disapproval.
“Entity? What are you doing here?” He beamed at her in response, but she didn’t return the greeting and instead shifted her focus to me, where she glared at me.
“You? What are you doing here?”
“I was, I mean, we were um… uh…” He struggled to find an excuse, his speech becoming awfully robotic as I gazed at him in horror, wondering whether he was actually malfunctioning. It took Alphys watching him in boredom to realise that he was just bad at improv and distracting her would have to be my job.
“We were in the neighbourhood!” I started, gaining her attention and stopping Entity from blowing the whole plan before it even began. “And he said he wanted to visit Chara.”
“We? Both of you?” She looked between the both of us, doubt evident on her face. Entity nodded enthusiastically as I tried not to scream at how easily this was going wrong.
“Right. Well, I have strict instructions not to—”
She was interrupted by someone in the house asking who was at the door. An annoyed expression flashed across her face before she shouted back a response, saying no one was here. She turned back to us, mouth agape to finish what she had been saying, before a figure squeezed past her, another annoyed expression settling on her face as she shut her mouth.
“Entity!” I watched as the face I had seen multiple times in the news brightened before my very eyes, their rosy cheeks and warm, brown eyes glowing in the summer light.
“Hey, little dude.” He lowered his right arm for a high five that Chara still had to jump for, but they were laughing the entire time.
“Well, come in,” they said, opening the door wider. Alphys sighed heavily before grumbling some choice words under her breath and moving aside for us.
Despite the house appearing modest on the outside, it was massive on the inside; an illusion that may have been the works of magic. I stumbled back in surprise, right into Entity who caught me like the love interest would in a romcom. He flashed me another grin as he helped me stand upright and I reluctantly followed after him, a scowl forming on my face. Alphys led us past what felt like a maze of carpeted corridors and wooden doors and another figure joined our party as we trekked.
“Entity!” They barrelled into the robot who swung them around. A soft smile formed on my face at the sight before they turned to me and immediately started apologising for their rudeness.
“It’s okay,” I cried, trying to stop the cute goat monster from upsetting themselves.
He stuck out his paw, a bashful expression blooming on his face. “I’m Asriel.”
“Kate,” I smiled, shaking his hand firmly and noting that this was Papyrus’ tutee.
“Are you done being boring, Azzy?”
“Chara…”
“Just saying,” they shrugged as Asriel moved to walk beside them. Their bickering and banter reminded me of my brother, and my smile fell as I thought back to when we were younger.
It wasn’t long before we reached the living room, another spacious area with a plush couch, and three chairs, one of which looked well used and comfortable. A small TV hung above a fireplace where framed pictures sat on the stone mantel. On either side, a bookcase stood, holding a mixture of books, DVDs and more pictures. Alphys took a heavy seat on one of the chairs, shooting us a glare as Entity sat on the only available couch, the kids moving to sit on either side of him. I took the other chair that wasn’t as well used, moving the cushion onto my lap as I surveyed the room.
Chara and Asriel were vying for Entity’s attention, the robot stretching out his arms so they could coddle the both of them. I raised my eyebrows in surprise before shifting to Alphys. She was watching their interaction like a hawk, a heavy glower on her face. If this was who we were supposed to distract, and Entity was going to keep fumbling about, I’d have to figure out how to distract her myself.
“I like your shoelaces,” Asriel said, breaking me from my thoughts. I glanced down at the mismatched laces that made my dad frown earlier in the day and forced back the memory in favour of grinning back at him.
“Thanks. I stole them from the president.”
All sets of eyes whipped towards me in various stages of disbelief. Alphys looked like she was wondering whether she should arrest me, Entity had a curious look on his face, while the kids looked more awed than anything else.
“It was a joke,” I explained, when no one seemed to get it.
“What are you again?” Chara asked. I raised my brows, unsure if they were being rude or not.
“They mean what your job is,” Asriel explained, catching the offense on my face.
“Oh. I’m a detective in training at Ebott Central,” I shrugged. They shared a look that had Alphys watching them suspiciously.
“That’s so cool!” Asriel exclaimed, moving to sit on the carpeted floor in front of me. I laughed awkwardly as he bombarded me with questions that I tried to answer. Chara moved beside him, leaving a disgruntled Entity to watch our interaction petulantly.
“That means you read the news, right?” they asked, and Asriel reiterated, saying that I must.
“Sure?” They cocked their head at me curiously, their rosy cheeks swelling as they smiled.
“You should read conspiracy blogs. They’re interesting.” Asriel nodded his head beside them before Alphys picked them up by the collars of their sweaters and placed them back beside Entity.
“Alright, nerds. No conspiracy talk while I’m around.” Chara stuck their tongue out in response while Asriel apologised, but they went back to gushing over Entity as if nothing happened. I shrugged; kids can be weird sometimes so I paid the encounter no mind as I listened to Asriel try to convince Entity to have him on his podcast. The comfort that befell the room as they chatted amongst each other had a question coming out of me before I could really think about it.
“How do you guys all know each other?”
It wasn’t directed to anyone and I thought it had come out far too quiet for anyone to actually hear over the ridiculous radio show host voice Entity was speaking in, but Alphys surprised me by glancing in my direction.
“Tight knit community,” she eventually grunted. I gazed at her as she watched the siblings dangle from Mettaton’s arms, waiting for a longer explanation. Her eyes softened before turning to me.
“We only had each other back in the Underground. It was important that we knew and cared for each other. Even more so now.” Her gaze drifted to the ceiling in thought as I considered her words. The monsters were free now, but I supposed for them, it didn’t always feel like it. I frowned at the thought before she jumped from her seat, gaining everyone’s attention.
“I’m gonna grab a drink. Does Tori have any sodas?” Asriel answered in the affirmative before giving his attention back to Entity. “Want anything?” She asked as she turned to leave. I shook my head politely before Entity cried out.
“Kate can get it!”
“I don’t even—”
“Kate! I mean, Alphys! You should um…” I mentally facepalmed at how obvious he was being with his robotic voice and stuttering, but all Alphys seemed to be doing was watching him expectantly while the kids continued to swing on his arms. I spoke up before he could dig a grave for us.
“I’ll go get it,” I said, getting up from my seat and gaining Alphys’ attention. I was quick to find some excuse that should convince her to let me go. “You and I both know I could do with the workout.”
She reluctantly fell back into her seat with a snort before I left the room in search of the kitchen, wandering the halls in the general direction of where I thought it might be.
“I love your dress.”
I jumped at the voice, whipping around in search of the source. I shivered when I didn’t see anything, changing course and walking carefully to avoid it. My eyes whizzed around the walls and doors that I passed, hoping I’d catch the owner of the voice before they could jump out at me.
“You’re going the wrong way.” I flinched when the voice returned, searching the hall but still not finding the body attached to it.
“Who’s there?” I eventually asked, taking on an awkward fighting stance in case I was dealing with a weirdly helpful intruder. I stepped back in shock as a ghost, faintly pink in colour, materialised in front of me.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” they said, fading from view with an upset look on their face.
“Right,” I said, relaxing my stance. “Do you know where the kitchen is?”
I barely made out a nod from their almost transparent form. When they didn’t do anything further I asked if they could show me and they started floating in a direction that I followed.
“I’ve never seen a pink ghost before,” I commented when we had walked in silence for a bit. Although, when I thought about it, I’d technically never seen a real ghost period. I didn’t even notice they had disappeared until I reached a crossroads in the hall. I swore under my breath, both at the disappearance of the ghost and the weird layout of the house.
“Uh… friendly ghost?” I started, looking down both sides of the hall and not recognising any of the decorations. “I meant it as a compliment; I love pink.”
They materialised immediately with an excited expression on their face and I smiled softly at the sight. “Really? P-pink is my favourite colour.”
“Literally same!” I grinned and they followed suit, swaying side to side in excitement. They led me the rest of the short distance to the kitchen, telling me how they finally met someone who understood the important role that pink played in the colour spectrum.
“Thank you,” I said by the kitchen door.
“Happi,” they said. “My name is Happstablook,” they explained when I cocked my head to the side in confusion.
“Nice to meet you, Happi.”
“I’m glad I met you, Kate,” they said before disappearing.
I smiled as I walked into the kitchen before halting, wondering how they knew my name. Shrugging it off, I moved toward the fridge before pausing again at the sight of Papyrus leaning over the island. So the prank did have something to do with the kitchen after all.
“Hey Papyrus,” I said, resuming my trek to the fridge. He glanced up at me before returning to whatever he was working on. Resurfacing with a lemon soda in hand, I walked over to see what he was doing, my head cocking to the side in curiosity when I took note of the pie he was hunched over.
“You’re gonna pie them?” I asked, almost incredulously.
“You can’t beat the classics,” he replied, a smirk on his face as he continued fiddling with the pie. “How’s Alph doing?”
“Sufficiently distracted,” I replied. “Entity sent me to grab her a soda.”
He nodded in understanding and I turned to leave, figuring I’d probably taken a lot longer to get the soda than I should have. Convincing myself that giving someone a face full of pie was more complicated than first assumed, I returned to the living room with the soda in hand.
“Took you long enough,” she said when I gave it to her. I shrugged in response, flopping back onto the seat I had been on as a cartoon played on the TV. I had started dosing off when Entity exclaimed loudly how he would love some pie right now, waking me up enough to roll my eyes at how obvious he was being again.
It seemed to work as Asriel suggested they get some pie that his mom had made earlier. They filed out of the room, Alphys trailing behind the kids reluctantly as Entity and I hung back. He shot me a weak grin as I watched them enter the kitchen. I narrowed my eyes in suspicion, before he spoke up.
“Not bad.”
“Thanks?” I furrowed my brows in confusion, my uncertainty growing as I watched him turn in the general direction of where I thought the front door was.
“Where are you going?”
“Out. Not really up to seeing the results.” My brows furrowed further before panic settled in my mind.
“Where am I supposed to go, then?” I asked, the panic seeping into my voice at the realisation that Alphys could quite potentially kill me if she knew I was involved.
“Rus’ll be around for pictures,” he shrugged. “He probably knows a shortcut out of here.” He saluted before leaving me—and the house—to face the consequences of joining a prank war.
“Where’d the tin can go?” I whirled around at the voice of Alphys, schooling my face so she wouldn’t pick up on my panic.
“Bathroom,” I blurted. She raised her brow, but didn’t question it before leaning against the wall in front of me.
“Shouldn’t you be making sure they don’t make a mess, or something?” I asked, trying to create an opening for me to look for Papyrus.
“In a second. I wanted to tell you that I’m glad I get to train someone like you. You kinda remind me of Sans.”
She was looking at me softly, well, as softly as her scaled skin would allow, and I couldn’t help but return the expression. I didn’t know how similar I was to Sans aside from the love of puns, but it was heart-warming to hear that from someone who so easily kicked my ass every other day.
“Don’t let it get to your head,” she said, patting my shoulder before going back into the kitchen. I cringed at the reminder of the pie waiting for them before turning around and looking for the exit.
“Wrong way.”
I sighed in relief as I realised who it was, spinning on the spot until the ghost appeared. “Happi! Thank goodness! Have you seen Papyrus?”
“I think I saw him by the kitchen window. You should hurry before—”
A loud splat was heard in the direction of the kitchen and I winced at the sudden silence that pervaded the house.
“Oh no.” They disappeared immediately and I had the sudden wish to become a ghost too as I took off in search of the front door. After remembering I had been going in the wrong direction, I found it as a roar sounded in the house.
Sprinting—as much as I could wearing the long dress, at least—outside, I started searching for Papyrus, taking note that the blue car was no longer in the driveway and I genuinely may have been left behind. In a state of panic, I ran in the general direction of where the kitchen window might be. Turning a corner, I bumped into Papyrus who caught my arm before I fell.
“You’re still here?” he asked, a surprised look on his face.
I nodded my head frantically, grabbing his arm and leading him to the gate. “Entity left, Happi’s probably fine? And we need to get out of here before Alphys finds us,” I explained in a rush, pulling his frame that was a lot heavier than it looked. He was slowly walking after me, letting gravity pull him forward more than anything and I wanted to scream in frustration.
“Come on! We don’t—”
“Papyrus!”
My blood ran cold at the sound of Alphys’ bellow. She stood at the front door, upper body covered in pie guts as a deathly scowl rested on her face. Papyrus snickered beside me, taking a picture with his phone, and I almost started crying in exasperation. I tugged on his arm harder, forcing him to keep moving toward the gate no matter how futile it felt.
He stopped in his tracks, jolting me from my forward momentum and I turned to him impatiently. He tugged his arm from my grip, a lazy smile on his face and I wondered how he could be so damn calm in a situation like this.
“I know a shortcut,” he said, gesturing vaguely with his now free hand. He outstretched his right arm, an invitation to take his hand, but I hesitated. The gate was so close that I was sure that if we just kept going, Alphys couldn’t chase after us, not with good conscious, anyway.
“Trust me,” he said, his hand still outstretched and his smile growing.
By all means, I didn’t. Not when there was no obvious shortcut in sight, not when he hadn’t told me what the plan was earlier, not when this could be another elaborate way to get another prank in before the day was out, but the steady pounding of Alphys’ approach reminded me that I didn’t have much of a choice. I took his hand and he grinned before everything went black.
I felt like I was being stretched and squashed simultaneously. Taking in breath was inconceivable as an overwhelming presence pressed in on me from all sides. I couldn’t see anything, I couldn’t move, I could barely even wrap my head around what was happening.
And then there was light and sound and I gulped in air greedily, as if I had just been submerged in water. After a few gasps, the familiar sensations of Muffet’s surrounded me, and said owner was looking at me with a concerned expression. The room tipped as I stood up straight and I grasped at the counter to steady myself. Papyrus had a smirk on his face and I would have strangled him had he not spirited us away from a furious Alphys.
A breathless laugh escaped me as I realised that we were in Muffet’s. Muffet’s. Oh-so-far away from the former Queen of the Underground’s house and Alphys’ rage. At the thought, my stomach flipped and I rushed to the bathroom to get rid of everything I had eaten before the excursion.
I flopped onto the seat beside Papyrus when I came back, his form shaking in what I suspected to be laughter. A glass of water slid in front of me and I thanked Muffet before taking a ginger sip.
“Some shortcut,” I croaked out after a few sips. I heard his snickers and despite everything, I found myself laughing with him.
“Oh man, if I had known you had a trick up your sleeve,” I managed to say in between laughs. “You’ve gotta at least show me the pics you took after that stunt.”
He obliged, whipping out his phone with snickers as he opened his gallery. I was shown an increasingly funny series of pictures of Alphys, Chara and Asriel in varying stages of getting pied. I snickered at a particularly good shot of the moment just before the pie splattered over them, their faces all slack in surprise.
“Dearies, do you mind leaving so I can close up shop?” My head snapped up at Muffet’s exasperated voice. She was wiping a mug and I vaguely noticed how empty the place had become since we arrived. Reaching for my purse to check the time on my phone, my eyes widened as I realised I didn’t have it.
“Looking for something?” Papyrus asked as I patted myself down in some false hope that it had somehow attached itself to my body. I glanced at him and was immediately relieved to find my purse in his hand.
“Thank you!” I said, as he handed it to me. He shrugged in response as I made sure everything was inside. Grimacing at the time on my phone, I stood up to leave, prompted by the glare Muffet was sending in our direction.
I waved goodbye to the pair of them before stepping out into the warm sunlight, sore body revelling in its rays. Walking to the closest bus stop, I found myself really looking forward to the friendship dinner, ignoring the dread that came with the realisation that I would see Alphys pretty soon.

Final Boss: Skeleton Boys (Info Dump)
Cider - Final Boss Papyrus
Personality: He is a lovely and gentle person, but he is also a tough man who can and will fight you if necessary. He is optimistic and believes in people, but he is not foolish. He occasionally speaks about Aspera, but then becomes depressed and stops. He enjoys doing puzzles. He is a gentle and thoughtful skeleton. He is really bold, polite, and intelligent. He is incredibly intelligent and knows a lot of stuff that he doesn't tell others. It's hard to detest this handsome skeleton. He is, however, stronger than he appears and can be snide with those who harm individuals he cares about.
Appearance: He has a large scar on his right eye.
Paradigm (Para) - Final Boss Sans
Personality: He's a witty guy, a punny chap if you will. He dislikes discussing Aspera, so don't bring it up. He cracks many jokes and has struggled with apathy, yet he is devoted and loyal. He gets along well with practically everyone and is a bit of a jerk. When he puzzles you, he'll wink at you before disappearing. He can be aggressive and disrespectful to anyone he believes poses a threat to his family's immediate safety. He's a laid-back guy who appreciates a good prank or two. When the correct conditions are fulfilled, he is also highly flirtatious. He is quite lethargic, but he genuinely tries to help and cares a lot.
Appearance: He has a small scar on the bottom of his right eye.

So there’s this folktale, where this woman, who is the daughter of the king of the seas/ocean, arrives to this guys house in the form of an hideous old woman and barges into this guy’s house and makes many rude demands of him. He complies with her requests and lets her stay the night, and the next morning she reveals herself to be a beautiful woman and tells him of her true identity. She grants him his dream house, fully furnished and stocked with food and filled with servants, and they end up living together as a couple
So for the question, dealer’s choice has this scenario happen to them.
lol I like this
Cursed for all eternity cause they’re rude to the old lady before she even walks in: red cash mal weasel Flambe orion snipe pitch
No reward because they kicked her out the second she disrespected them: sans edge rust noir lilac lush sir Helios ram moose roost barin taffy lens tempo
They’re fist fighting a fae now. She smacked talked them in their own home, the only way out is through these hands: pepper mutt bruiser boss butch ace hook captain harpy mango cricket
Will let the old lady stay, but will clap back with their own insult every time she’s rude. The fae is conflicted on what the end result should be: salt butler lord wine atlas Artemis G slim rancher fisher
Lets the old lady stay, but refuses the reward the next day cause they’re salty and think this test sucked: willow Jupiter peaches cider maple Jasper Hilda arwin
Lets the old lady stay and refuses the reward cause they shouldn’t be rewarded for basic kindness: papyrus rhythm green finn silex Pearl saga Ollivander
Accepts the reward cause they deserve a pick me up after dealing with this b-: charm pesto coffee sails Alden pudding stitches compass yarrow
Accepts the reward simply cause they’re too nervous to question it: honey oak basil Pluto quill papaya tinker thistle
Accepts the reward because oooo shiny!: Star sugar sparks gold pop barley gears vibrato
Yea he’d marry that diva: crow

Something I've noticed from watching people's streams of the pacifist/genocide runs in undertale recently is that even when people are only helping because the streamer asks, they're still doing unnecessary backseating or giving false info, so here's a summary of what's ACTUALLY required/not required for new players to do while trying for those runs! (Key word TRYING - don't try to make a new player take a certain route! A first run is a magical experience that deserves no backseating.)
This is probably gonna all sound like extremely obvious stuff to people who are super into the fandom (like myself), but there seems to be plenty of people who have played who don't know too!
(This is more for viewers than new players, and contains spoilers)
Pacifist
As long as they haven't killed anything, the player has NOT messed anything up. Missed an interaction? Didn't date papyrus or undyne? That's fine! That can all be done post-asgore. People will often figure this stuff out themselves if you let them anyway, and they'll find it a lot more satisfying!
Yeah, it's painful if they don't save the pie or the doughnut/cider. They're not required though, so let them.
Don't tell streamers how to spare a monster unless they specifically request help. A lot of pacifist battles are puzzles in themselves that are really satisfying to figure out yourself. Same for escaping undyne - they'll get there in the end!
As long as the streamer spares Flowey, he'll give them all the info they need - if you haven't dated/hung out with Papyrus, he suggests becoming better friends with him. Same for Undyne, and same for Alphys. If they kill flowey, THAT might be the only time you really gotta give input. You reload right before Asgore so it's still run-compliant!
Killing Asgore is fine, and killing Flowey doesn't kill the run either. As mentioned though, you might need to give them some hints about the hangouts if Flowey isn't alive to tell them.
It's okay if they pick mean dialogue options! Sans even says in the pacifist judgement dialogue that your lack of LOVE 'doesn't mean you're innocent or nïeve'. You can be as mean as you want as long as nobody dies - which also means pacifist players CAN use the fight option as long as they don't reduce any monster's health to zero. Eating the snowman piece also doesn't kill the run.
Destroying the ruins dummy doesn't ruin a pacifist run - for a ghost to die, they have to become corporeal. This wasn't the case here. Pretty sure the same applies with the napstablook fight! Devouring vegetoid is also okay - in 1.0.0 I believe it counted as a kill, but Toby changed it in every version after.
Don't tell blind players to backtrack before they fight Asgore! The game never hints at that beforehand and the only people who would know without backseating are those who have played before. Let them have the full experience - plus they'd miss out on a bunch of asgore and flowey dialogue, and the neutral pacifist ending!
No, they DON'T need to talk to all the shopkeeps, or visit Mettaton's house, or donate to the spiders. Do all these things give more lore or make things simpler? Sure! But they're not required. You can always tell them afterwards, but let them have their first run without too much guidance. (Ofc if they ask to be told about cool secrets/things they missed then you can, just use common sense lol. Respect whatever rules a streamer sets!)
You literally can't kill Papyrus unintentionally so don't be scared if a streamer fights him. The best weapon you can have at that point is the tough glove, and even if you land every hit perfectly it doesn't have enough damage output to kill him before the end of the fight. His name will turn yellow before he's in any real danger, and if they're pacifist they'll know to spare at the end.
No item is required. Absolutely none. (...I mean, except undyne's letter I guess lol)
Once a player triggers true pacifist, they're locked into the route. No matter what they do by the time they get to the lab, it's fine. Absolutely nothing past here can kill the run, so no more advice unless they specifically ask something. Fighting doesn't even work on anything from true lab onwards lol
Genocide
Make sure they don't fight Toriel until the kill counter is exhausted. They'll pretty quickly get the hang of it after that. If they go to fight one of the bosses (Toriel, papyrus, undyne, mettaton) before the kill counter is exhausted, that's the only time to worry. If they don't know about the kill counter yet don't spoil it - the shock of realising there's no more enemies is always super satisfying. You could always give them a LOVE goal if you wanna be subtle!
Yes, that also means going to Toriel's house, snowdin or the core is fine before the kill counter is done. Just don't trigger the boss fights.
Sparing random encounters doesn't ruin the run. That monster is still in the monster pool and can be killed later. The only monsters this doesn't apply to are unique encounters like the bosses, dogs, shyren, etc.
Looking at the wordsearch is fine, but you might wanna assure them of that if they panic once the music goes back to normal (interacting with the wordsearch makes the music revert from the genocide version).
If they're about to spare sans, let them. It builds character.
There's not really much else tbh. As long as they're getting 'but nobody came' and killing all the bosses they've done everything right. Again, if they miss dialogue or a secret you can just tell them after the run :)
#undertale#xan's thoughts#idk if anyone will see this but there's a surprising amount of common misconceptions that I've noticed#these two routes aren't as complex or as hard to stay on as people seem to think#might add onto this with some snowgrave misconceptions too bc i see so many specific instructions that. just aren't needed

Hi, did you create UnderGuard, if so, I can ask you this question. Besides the fact that Frisk killed Papyrus, did the man do anything else? for example, did the person pay Temmie from Temm's shop for college? and how a person defeated Muffet, used a spider donut/cider during the battle or bought it for 9999 gold?
Heyyyy sorry for a long answer ^^
(I was just not here at all because i just forgot this about this place)
Well, about your question. The thing that I can say for sure is that Frisk took every armor/weapon (without temmie armor, just payed for college but without buying armor).
They were watching Monster Kid fall on the bridge before Undyne (didn't leave and didn't help). (this part isn't even secret)
With all other monsters they were acting full on friendliness and without skipping anything. That means no fleeing and spare all.
