Church of Sao Roque, Lisbon by Anita363 One of the earliest Jesuit churches, it was begun in 1555. It served as the Jesuit headquarters in Portugal for over 200 years, until they were expelled from the country after being implicated in an attempted coup. The unusual trompe l'oeil Mannerist ceiling is by Francisco Venegas and was painted 1584–1586.
