Conversion: The smoking woman and the dejected church planter
Our dear friend from California visited last week to catch up and cheer up. She is such a great guest! She is a kind listener, so she got me telling stories from my early forties when I left her in California for the wilds of Pennsylvania. It was a time in my life when so much was changing! She teased out bits and pieces I had not considered for a while. For instance, she had not heard many…

First Steps: Pastor Dan Griswold on Officially Launching "The Lowcountry Church Plant"
A lot of folks have been wondering about my next steps as a Church Planter and after deep prayer we've set out a pattern for what Amanda and I think God is doing. Read this blog and consider joining me on this journey as we step into our next adventure.
“And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.’” -Luke 14:23 Some Background and Heart for Church Planting in the Lowcountry of SC Only 8 years ago I was sent to serve as pastor to three rural churches in Ridgeville, SC. A leader of Mount Tabor, Wallace Muckenfuss, drove me through pine forests and told me that…

Praying the Same Prayer for 35 Years
You will have to trust me, but this really happened Our church had just planted its 5th church in its first 7 years of life. God had been very gracious to us. The church had grown. We gained experience and had seen God do some miraculous things. Most of the churches we had planted were growing by about 25% conversion growth and our own church continued to replace the people we sent away with new…

Just Justice (God Is...)
This post originated as a message at Arise Church. What comes to mind when you hear the word, justice? Probably a lot of things, because right now, justice is a hot button issue. You can hardly get on social media, watch the news, read something, or make a TikTok without being confronted by conversations about justice in one form or another. I can’t even watch some of my favorite movies without…

so my sister wrote a book
it's a christian herbal book here's the summary:
Life Began in a Garden: The Book has more than 60 herbal profiles, more than 50 herbal recipes, and more than 35 biblical references throughout. Plus two bonus unfilled profiles to get you started on your herbal journey. A great book for those just starting out to those who have been on their herbal path for sometime. No matter your experience level, this book is packed with herbal knowledge and know how.
For many years herbs have supported us. It’s time to get back to basics, Herbies! 🌿 “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” Genesis 2:15 NKJV *No AI was used in writing this book.
and if it sounds like something you're interested in here's the link

One thing they don't tell you about being a Mormon in Utah is that you absolutely always have to lock your car on Sunday because if you don't a "Good Ward Member" might do a "good deed" and put some zucchini in there and then you gotta spend the next two weeks making zucchini bread and fried zucchini and every other zucchini recipe under the sun.

Q&A with Nathan Knight (Planting by Pastoring)
For more information or to purchase a copy of Planting by Pastoring, click here. Q&A with Nathan Knight Evan: Tell us about yourself? Nathan: I grew up in the south (Nashville, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Raleigh). My Mom loved Jesus and I’m hopeful my Dad did. We had my pastor's best friend preach today, he's an Anglican Pastor in Colorado (there was a church planting conference at my church this weekend, and the Anglican pastor was one of the first church planters my church supported.) In addition to the 20+ church planters at the conference my church also has a resident intern from Central Asia who is in seminary.
This resident was talking to the Anglican pastor about the missionaries that brought the gospel to his parents village and led them to Christ, and he mentioned that these missionaries were from a small town in Indiana. The Anglican said that he was from a small town in Indiana, what town where they from? And they were from the same town. So the Anglican asked what church were they from? And theu were from the same church his grandparents had been attending since there were less than 20 members, and they had played a part in sending out these missionaries.
So in my Southern Baptist church, an Anglican was able to meet the results of his grandparents faithfulness as church members, and the entire congregation was able to see the power of God, and how He uses the Church to accomplish His will.
I heard the coolest story of how God works this morning and I am still going crazy over it

The Surrender (God Is...)
This post originated with a message from Arise Church. In this scene from the show Turn, George Washington accepts the British surrender at the end of the American Revolution. This was the moment that solidified Washington’s status as perhaps the Father of our nation. Everywhere you look, the United States remembers George Washington. He graces the one-dollar bill and the quarter; our capital is…
