A: not basic at all I love yapping!! Anyway AUGH I CANT CHOOSE JUST ONE i have multiple favorites!! I think off the top of my head tho uh there’s 1: twilight and spike going from cold colors to warmer colors once’s settling in ponyville/warming up to the other characters (pun not intended lol)

2: cozyglow being queen of the breezies so she can keep her “evil child” trope but removing the “LITERAL child” issue of hers out of the equation

3: STORM KING I FUCKING LOVE MY STORM KING THE ANIMATICS I HAVE FOR HIM IN MY HEAD AUGH. Shaking his concept art like snow globe.. We could have had it all,,,,

4: I’m stupid happy with like. Basically everything I did w the changelings. Your name is Chrysanthemum Coleoptera. Needless to say that your name is a handful, so you often shorten it to Chrys or use nicknames like Beetle for your friends and Terror for your foes.

As it was stated you are a contradigma, a school of martial arts that allows you to weaponize your knowledge of fiction and tropes to bend them to your will with your fists. You have dark skin, short golden hair and cat features. You are also an adventurer, which seems to be a profession very frowned upon in this town.

It is common for people to dislike adventurers, the insults you receive range from lazy freeloader to terrorist depending on how effective you are. But the people in the town of Maladapted Malaise are not interested in seeing what kind of adventurer you are nor do they want to hurt you either, they just want you gone.

But you want a drink, and in your opinion you want a drink more than they want you gone, so you deserve a drink and they should serve you one. It makes sense right?

CHRYS: i see we started on the proverbial wrong foot here.

CHRYS: my name is chrysanthemum coleoptera but you can just call me chrys.

CHRYS: and yours is?

He takes a deep breath and says “It’s String of Springs.”

String is a bald man with light skin who moves in his small space like he knows where everything is and everything should be. The way someone who has been serving drinks for decades has optimized the process down to a science.

STRING: Anyway, you sound like a wonderful young woman, but you really can’t be here.

You can’t help but smile, if you were a hacker you would say “i’m in.”

CHRYS: and why is that?

Now dear reader, do you think String should explain to Chrys the reason why? Or should he insist on pushing her away?

Unfortunately that is not for us to decide. We will roll dice and the stars will illuminate the future.

The action Chrys is currently performing is the following one:

Go for a Drink

When you go out to have a drink, eat as much as you can or partake in any kind of indulgence where you can make friendships and impress those around you: roll with Body.

On a 10 and above: You earn a good reputation for yourself among the regulars of the place you went to. Gain a resource.

On a 7 to 9: You will share too much about yourself, spend too much money or start a fight and not win it, but still the regulars will respect your boldness. Gain a resource and tell what goes wrong.

On a 6 and below: You have a miss. You wake up the next morning unsure of what happened last night in an unfamiliar place, without your belongings or in the company of a stranger.

This action is considered a downtime action and each main character gets to do 2 at the start of each episode. Episodes are how the story is told, each one focusing on an issue and allowing the characters to take a break between them.

Resources may be spent during that episode for a number of bonuses, but they are reset at the end of each episode, so there is no reason to hoard them.

Whenever an action is performed, you must roll 2 six-sided dice and add a modifier, in this case it’s Body, which is at +2 because Chrys specializes in martial arts.

Enough explanations, it’s time to roll the proverbial bones.

The results are 4 and 4, for a total of 10. A full success.

String takes a quick look outside, likely making sure there are no dangerous spies hearing what must be a super secret conversation. This is your first proverbial rodeo so you don’t want to get too ahead of yourself, but you’re certain you have just found secrets that will be your ticket to stardom. It even makes you a little sad at how easy this journey was, but alas such is life.

STRING: Miss, are you listening to me?

CHRYS: hm? yeah yeah, super secret spies protecting the dangerous weapons of mass destruction, i got it all.

STRING: what?

STRING: That’s not what I was saying at all.

STRING: I was explaining that the mayor hates adventurers.

STRING: He talks everyday about how they’re the scourge of society and they’re not allowed here.

STRING: He is almost obsessed with your kind.

STRING: He even goes on about cultural adventures and post modernist adventurers and other nonsense.

CHRYS: damn, those sound awesome, what are they?

STRING: It’s really weird, I don’t quite understand what he’s talking about either.

STRING: But the important thing is that you aren’t safe here.

STRING: And neither are we if you stay…

STRING: Don’t talk to any of the other locals either please.

CHRYS: hm? why is that?

STRING: The mayor says that helping adventurers is-

STRING: Enabling them?

STRING: And there is something about a slippery slope, and he brings up something different every week.

STRING: You sound like a nice person so I don’t want to push away, but we don’t want any trouble.

STRING: So please. Just leave ok?

Chryssi looked up from the ledger in her lap. With a raised eyebrow she set aside her inkpen and closed the leather tome, leaving it centered on her office desk. She regarded Twilight with a amorous smile. "Of course, my love. What did you need?"

Twilight approached her partner tentatively. "I want to try an experiment. Would you take your old form for me? The Changeling one?"

The towering woman gave a curious tilt of her head before rising to her feet. With a whip of her translucent spidersilk mane she grinned her ferocious fanged smirk, exuding the confidence of her immortal power. In a burst of emerald fire her human form began to melt away. Limbs extended and twisted. Her hands morphed into cragged, powerful hooves. Smokey black plates of chitin formed across her body as her designer slacks and vestcoat burst and faded into ash. Translucent veins sprouted from her back, grasping the air like tree branches, webbing over and forming insect wings from the jade shell across her back. A meter-long, crooked spire resembling that of an exotic beetle thrust from her forehead. As the flames appeared so they vanished in wisps of sickly green power. In their place stood the massive dark form of the Changeling Queen.

She stamped a hoof, kicking up sparks of jade flame from the stone. She did love being theatrical. The spider-like snake-mare looked down to Twilight with her now saucer-sized serpent eyes and a flicker of her forked tongue. "Done." The monarch struck a statuesque pose, smiling wickedly. "You may behold my glory now" She chuckled, raising a pitted hoof to her fanged lips.

Twilight stepped closer with a giggle as Chryssi made a small circle displaying her body to her now-diminutive love. Her hooves clattered against the polished stone floor. It was a good thing they were in her castle. Her bughorse body was easily the size of a draft stallion, possibly larger and with a much longer neck. As big as she was now, her withers would be banging against the ceiling of Twilight's dormroom. Her head would've been poking around in the room upstairs.

Twilight reached out to touch her neck with both hands. Chryssi grew still at the sensation. She practically purred, something in her barrel making a pleasant chirping sound like the muffled harmony of a group of crickets. She drank in the moment like honey as the two women, one now in the form of a Changeling Queen, examined each other.

Curiously, Twilights fingertips traced the chitinous plates of her lovers neck. She quivered in excitement as she pondered the biological mysteries of her lovers ancient shape. She paused with the rough sensation of every scar, pit and crag. The two larger grey gouges drew particular attention. She considered their similarity to a vampire's bite of legend. Circling the wound-like pits she felt Chryssi shudder. Almost imperceptibly, she seemed to recoil. Something flashed behind her snake eyes for just a moment, something guarded. Something perhaps to discuss later.

"So, where are we going with this?" she asked. Her voice was surprisingly unchanged from her human form, deep, resonating, commanding yet very colored with her affection.

"I want you..." Twilight placed her palm to Chryssi's obsidian muzzle and gently stroked along her cheek "...to kiss me."

"You what?"

"You heard me."

Chryssi's brow knit. "Yes, I did but..." Her emerald eyes scrolled across her lavender beloveds face. Her serpent eyes had two irises, a pale jade outer ring circling a deeper emerald pool. Twilight had yet to ascertain the function of these lenses but currently both had grown to fill the pale-lime sclera. "But why?"

Twilight stroked Chryssi's cheek attempting to calm her. "I need to know something."

Chryssi raised a hoof to draw the lavender hand from her muzzle. Twilight regarded the feeling with a curious smile. Somehow, even without fingers, she could feel that her lover was "holding" her hand. "I need to prove something."

Her snake eyes were so much larger now, shuttered beneath dark eyelids of teal armored plates. Still, in them she saw the woman she had come to love. Her look was imploring. The massive bughorse flickered her tongue, tasting the emotions in the air between them. Smiling, she sighed.

"Twilight, you don't have to do this. You don't have to prove anything, not for me."

Twilight raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" Her violet eyes were practically dancing as she adjusted her glasses with a sassy grin. "Well, what if I want to do it for me?"

Chryssi was taken aback, gobsmacked into stammering. "I- Wh- Well-" She set her chin with an aggravated pout. "Now see here, you little twerp."

Twilight laughed. She'd won this round.

"Come on, Chryssi." she said with a flirty if playfully stern smile. She stomped her foot and flounced. The heavy material of her pleated skirt whispered angrily. Twilight dropped her register an octave. "Do it for your queen."

Chryssi melted. She was defeated. "I... Erf. Very well." She craned her long neck down to meet Twilight's gaze. Those violet eyes held her as a moth staring into a candle's burning taper. "Just be mindful of my fangs, beloved."

Again, Twilight reassuringly caressed the contoured chitin of her lover's face. "We've kissed dozens of times, Chryssi- and then some. I'm sure I'll be fine."

Chryssi straightened, raising a pencil-thin inky eyebrow. The corners of her mouth turned up in a sinister, wicked smile.

In her human form, she had fangs, to be sure. Where the average Homo Sapiens Equus had lateral incisors and canines Chryssi had elongated, sabre-like fangs. In this form, however, her natural arsenal was upped considerably. The Changeling Queen opened her mouth to display dozens of glistening fangs, ranging in size from a pocket-knife to a railroad spike. The sight was akin to staring into the gaping maw of a horse-sized constrictor snake.

"Okay, okay. Fair point." Twilight chuckled.

Chryssi began to say something but her tiny lover cut her off. "Now, if you're finished?"

Hesitantly, almost demurely, Chryssi lowered her head. A forest-green hue had come to the chitin of her cheeks. Parting her chitinous lips slightly, she leaned close to her human love. Heart pounding, Twilight took her partners muzzle in her palms. The lovers closed their eyes as their lips gently touched.

For several hushed seconds, they tenderly, if awkwardly, embraced as lovers do.

As gently as they'd come together, they parted. Slowly, their eyes opened. Each silently examined the other for any tell-tale signs of their experience. Each gave up a somewhat sheepish grin. It was the most vulnerable, almost embarrassed, Twilight had seen her ancient lover in all their time together.

Chryssi finally broke the pregnant silence. "Well? Did you find what you sought?"

Twilight beamed and cleared her throat. She straightened her glasses, biting her lip as she felt the rosettes burning on her cheeks. "Yep." She brushed aside a lock of Chryssis wispy silken mane which had tumbled between her eyes. "You're still you."

The couple shared a giggle as their lips came together once more, perhaps just a bit less awkwardly this time.

Chrys had just gotten home when she peaked around to make sure everyone was asleep. Before going to sneak into Doflamingos' room, when in there, she placed a bunch of beetles in his shoes and silently left to go to Crocodiles room where she snuck into his bed. @sleepycitrusfruits

synth - evil roach lady. came from the giant's lair and tried to start snakemouth lab 2: electric boogaloo. she's like if soul master was a girl kind of bernie - most divorced poor little meow meow bee man ever. got kicked out of the hive because cosmic horrors happened to him. vi's dad but that's not really relevant they don't know each other ilon & lilly - butterfly and beetle on an explorer team. kind of side characters in future bug fables iris - cute and trustworthy mantis lady who runs a diner and definitely doesn't cook people checkers - zombee who is two different bees sewn together. former nurse in one life. unwillingly pulled into synth's schemes mint - zombeetle who escaped the lab to try and find his former explorer partner. not going well for him latte - baby zombiant. just a little guy sammy - zombie fly with a different kind of fungus than the cordyceps ones. got sent to bee kingdom zombie jail until the doctor who made it like that let it escape penny - the doctor who did that to sammy. it was an accident she swears marshmallow - peacock spider who started mimicking bugs and living in society just for a laugh

their story has 3 acts to it (spanning from when they were kids up until adults), so i’ll just give you a little summary of them in general!!

from left to right in the picture, first you have rue!! she comes from a high-class victorian family but lacks pretty much all the manners and patience you’d expect ghjdkd. she has a massive temper and has gotten into a lot of fights (and later murder, just as a treat xx) because she hates the passive-aggressiveness of other high-class families that much.

she really just rejects all of the social norms of the time and rebels at every chance she gets-- which is why she eventually runs away and ends up meeting the others in rormir (which i’m,,, tentatively calling this version of wonderland, just because there’s a lot of themes of mirrors and it’s the best anagram i can come up with atm).

second is chrysalis (or chrys. rhys if ya nasty), who’s one of the first people rue meets in rormir. he’s based on an atlas beetle, which is why he has yellow-ish blood and horns and such! his original form is a giant beetle monster, but his race can shapeshift so he often sticks to a more human form to fit in with his friends. he’s a noble from the distorted half of rormir (aka reflectia,,,, another tentative name rip) and he has a grudge against his parents for their tyrannical and cruel ways.

personality-wise he’s a bit of a trickster!! he likes to think of himself as cool and collected but really he’s quite easily flustered and soft-hearted because he hasn’t been treated with a lot of kindness before.

last is malie!! she’s from the other half of rormir, pania, where the average person is a lot closer to regular humans. she works as a mechanic despite being young and is a bit of a prodigy when it comes to building machinery. she’s chrysalis’ only friend, and despite rubbing that in quite a lot, the two of them are close! malie is the headstrong leader of the group who’s very cheerful and chatty (basically the one with all the social skills), and is always thinking on her feet to get them out of trouble.

despite keeping her head down about the problems in rormir most of her life and just trying to get by, she later becomes one of the leaders of the rebellion!! i love her!!

so far, i’ve fought a lot of creatures in pikmin 2.

dwarf bulborbs.

regular bulborbs.

snagrets and creeping chrys-what-cha-ma-call-em’s.

i’ve even fought decorated cannon beetles and beady long legs, which killed quite a few pikmin...

but NONE OF THEM lay a finger on spotted bulbears.

as of right now, i have a save file at glutton’s kitchen LV 4, which has a bulbear in it.

i fear that the day will come when i’ll have to fight a bulbear DIRECTLY, losing a lot of pikmin in the process...
