important notes I'd like to add, if it's okay!

don't skimp! to get the full spf coverage for your sunscreen, it is recommended to take about the length of 2 fingers or 1 teaspoon of sunscreen. the rolled on one is more tricky depending on the brand, some may take up to 5 to 6 layers of application to get the coverage for the advertised spf.

reapplication is essential if you plan to stay outdoors for the entire day. some dermatologists recommend every 2 to 3 hours, but if it's hard for you to even begin using one, twice daily is fine.

even if you spend all day indoors, you're still encouraged to wear sunscreen! this is because UV lights can still enter the house through the doors and windows.

OP has covered a lot on skin cancer so I'm not gonna touch that, but another important thing I'd like to touch is aging. exposure to UV rays can age your skin faster. honestly if you're not into all these beauty culture and stuff but still want to look youthful as you age gracefully, regular sunscreen use is the answer.

Everyone needs to wear sunscreen

SPF 50 is pretty much the best protection you can get, an SPF higher than that will have the same effect

Melanin does not protect you from skin cancer

Tanning is caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation

Spending the majority of your life receiving regular large doses of UV radiation without any skin protection is a good way to get skin cancer

Don't use tanning beds, and don't go sun tanning

(The following article is a bit spoilery, but I've been working on this stupid concept for years and I just want to post it already. Still not happy with the design, but I can tweak it some more in the future. Since Ojio is a sci-fi geek, I wanted to give his invention a hokey retro futurist/anime flair.)

CHROMIGHT MECHASKEMA

OVERVIEW

The ChroMight Mechaskema(™) is a device invented by Ojio Paramonimos, founder of Chromight Technologies. It is a robotic body-augmentation that is custom tailored to its user. The mechanical framework permanently interfaces with the user’s nerves and organs, enhancing all bodily functions. Mr. Paramonimos himself describes it as “a mechanical shell”.

Once connected with the Mechaskema(™), users experience increased strength and speed, enhanced senses, and various other abilities which can be customized with modules, such as flight and water-breathing.

The Mechaskema(™) draws power from the user’s own energy reserves, meaning the user must eat more calories to accommodate extra power draw. Additional modules will draw even more power, and at a certain point it becomes impossible for the user to keep the device powered on calories alone. In these cases, additional power sources such as petrol, arcane crystals, or batteries must be used.

BENEFITS

Mechaskema(™) users (also known as “chromen” or “chromies”) enjoy a wide range of benefits from their mechanical parts. The device efficiently recycles calories into energy, eliminating the need to defecate altogether. Its blood purification system can filter disease and improve healing speeds, and may even allow the user to eat toxic materials with little to no harm.

The device can also slow the body’s aging process, but how much depends on which modules are used. This enables short-lived species such as trolls and minotaurs to enjoy longer lifespans. The device can also compensate for missing limbs and failing organs, effectively acting as a life-support system for sick users and allowing them to function normally.

In addition, the devices allow users to bypass the need for sleep using supplemental energy sources, giving them more waking hours for productivity or recreation.

Mechaskemas(™) are available in 2 models: basic and ultra.

The basic model offers many benefits and customization options, but is less powerful than the ultra model and cannot support as many modules. Its design is less invasive, leaving more of the user's flesh exposed and bodily functions unaltered. It may interact with some organs and other body parts, but not all of them.

The ultra model offers maximum benefits to the user and many slots for modules, but its heavy power draw can prove burdensome and even dangerous to the user if not managed properly. This model requires a supplemental power source to function, such as a battery. It is highly invasive, as it interacts with every part of the user's body.

SIDE EFFECTS

Mechaskemas(™) are a permanent body augmentation. Because they interface so heavily with the user’s biology, removing them is a fatal process. This also means that the user is at the mercy of the device’s core mechanisms, and should any of these mechanisms fail, the user may die or suffer severe biological damage. Broken mechanisms must be fixed or replaced promptly, but they are expensive, and this can only be done by skilled technicians.

Not everyone is a good candidate for a Mechaskema(™). The ideal user is a biologically mature adult, financially upper class, and technologically savvy. They should never plan to travel far from a ChroMight Technologies repair center, in case of a critical mechanism failure. The devices utilize several materials that are forbidden by the Nymph Pact, meaning chromen will struggle to survive in Great Kingdoms where the pact is in effect, and may be banned from those territories altogether.

Mechaskemas(™)  depend entirely on a power source. Calories, arcane energy, solar, petrol, or electricity are all options depending on the user’s model, but when these sources are not available, the device will begin consuming the user’s body. Allowing the device to run out of power leads to serious consequences, such as permanent bodily damage and even death.

In addition to food, the devices also require water to function properly. More advanced models require more water, which they utilize for cooling and other systems. Becoming dehydrated causes the device to malfunction and will lead to the user’s death if it is not corrected promptly.

Chromen experience increased hunger and thirst as a result of their mechanically-augmented bodies. Using supplemental power sources and water-management modules can mitigate these side effects.

The Mechaskemas(™) are mechanical devices, and as such they require maintenance. Regular oiling, polishing, and tune-ups will keep them functioning optimally, but failing to take care of these machines will lead to poor performance and possibly death to the user.

Over time, users will become more and more dependent on their devices to survive as their bodies begin to atrophy. Older users experience a phenomenon known as “module creep”, where they require more modules to keep themselves alive as time goes on.

Mechaskemas(™) are not free, nor are their power sources, replacement parts, modules, or maintenance. In fact these things are all quite expensive, so choosing to become a chroman is not a decision to be taken lightly. At a certain point, a chroman’s survival becomes entirely dependant on how much money they have for repairs.

MODULES

Each new Mechaskema(™) comes equipped with a set of standard features, depending on whether it’s a basic or ultra model. If users want more features, they must purchase modules. Modules are extra parts that attach to the device and enable more features. Each module draws additional power, and more sophisticated modules draw even more.

Some smaller modules can be added and removed without consequence. Others are more invasive and cannot be removed without killing the user.

Modules can perform a virtually endless number of functions. Each one falls under a broad category, and these categories include: Health, Utility, Defense, Energy, and Miscellaneous.

The following is a list of popular modules from each category:

HEALTH: Blood detoxifier, pacemaker, aging deceleration, synthetic womb, pain blocker

UTILITY: Enhanced strength, optical zoom lens, speed boosters, lights, artificial gills, wings, jetpack

DEFENSE: Armor plates, blades, guns, spikes, spell magnifier

ENERGY: Water tanks, fuel tanks, water vaporizer, fuel burner, solar panels, battery slots

MISCELLANEOUS: Radio, calculator, voice modulator, sexual enhancers, cosmetic modifications

CULTURE

Mechaskemas(™) are a novel technology in the world of Looming Gaia, and public opinion on them varies wildly. Some staunchly disapprove, viewing them as an insult to nature, and believe they will lead to allkind’s demise. Others support the technology, believing it can change many lives for the better.

Currently the devices are only available in Zareen Empire, but ChroMight CEO Ojio Paramonimos wishes to expand this technology to foreign lands in the future. Critics argue that chromen become entirely dependant on the company’s technology, and must keep surrendering more and more money to ChroMight Technologies as they become more dependent on their devices. Because of this, the company faces frequent protests and media scrutiny.

However, many corporations and even world militaries are very interested in Paramonimos’ creation, and have invested in his research in hopes that they can benefit from this novel tech in the future.

Mr. Paramonimos is under immense political, ethical, and financial pressure from all sides, and while his invention could possibly lead to disaster, he claims his only intention is to create a better future for allkind. He believes the marriage of flesh and machine will open the door to a safer, cleaner, and smarter tomorrow.

Hot dog, has World of Warcraft Remix been a huge success for me. By now if you play WoW you already know the basic gist of WoW Remix: “Timerunning”, a special way to experience the older content of the Mists of Pandaria with a new character, in modern WoW’s gameplay and featureset, while packed to the brim with fun twists.

Now when I say “Fun Twists” I of course mean “Complete insanity baked into the core DNA of how this game works at all”. While the content of Mists of Pandaria remains functionally the same, befitting the Time Travel concept (you even have access to the Scenarios, lost to the wind in Chromie Time), the twists add a lot of imaginative new energy to the older content. The Cloak of Infinite Potential, an ever present cape worn by all your characters, grows and morphs based on everything you do. Getting up to levels of stats at a rate almost unheard of since the more recent stat squishes. Everything from the traditional extra stamina or attack power, to game altering bonuses like XP boosts to use on your further characters.

All items, which drop frequently, are packed with gem and modification slots. All which do wild things like grant a warrior Blink, Fireshield or movement speed increases that result in the most mobile heavy weapon use you’ve ever seen. All quests grant small loot boxes, full of gear, gems, modifiers and other wild additions, and I mean all quests. Even something as simple as a breadcrumb quest has a chance to grant you some kind of power altering item. As a result, your power level is changing rapidly, and your skillset goes through upheaval after most sets of quests. Combat never gets old as you experiment with new ideas and attacks.

I’ve been using this new event to see the content of Mists of Pandaria that I’ve not yet experienced, which is to say most of it. I was wary when this began because I assumed if I just held out a little longer I could probably play a Mists of Pandaria classic. Thankfully I didn’t let those doubts win out, because this has not only been an incredible new experience, but a fantastic way to appreciate an old one. I deeply hope that this concept is revisited, it would be an incredible way for Blizzard to revisit the content of, say, Warlords of Draenor. A finely crafted campaign without much of an endgame, but one that would slot extremely well into this fun new take on the leveling experience.

Plus it has a lot of transmog and new mounts, which, let's not pretend those aren’t why we’re all still in Azeroth.

Dracthyr Visage Form Wish List

I really dislike the current options (though staying in Drac form will save me thousands in transmog). My recommendation for additions (both factions). Gave some NPC examples as well.

Orc (Baskilon) and Human (Many, let’s go with Wrathion) - baseline races for both factions for dracthyr wanting to use their form to “fit in”.

Tauren (Andantenormu) and Night Elves (Merithra) - strong nature connection for the green flight (although Dante’s bronze!)

[Zandalari] Trolls (actually I only know one and he might be a spoiler) and [Dark Iron] Dwarves (Veristrasz) - the only races around when Neltharion was making the Dracthyr. Allied races in parenthesis because they’re more accurate? And the DI give me djaradin vibes.

Goblin (Rheastrasza) and Gnomes (Chromie, ofc!) - Dracthyr big, visage tiny. PLEASE it’s so funny.

Blood/Void/High Elves (You need ONE example? Stellagosa then) - NPC dragons’ fave, they already did half the work with the current visages. I don’t like em’ but the rest of you have fun.

Vulpera (Selistra) and Draenei (Osonia) - I’m cashing in my good karma from that last one. 100% wish fulfillment. Gimme. A thousand bonus points if they break faction choices and I can finally play draenei on horde.

In trade I’m willing to give up One (1) Raid Tier if they make the forms fancy, but I’d be content with Dracthyr eyes for the other forms.

Cafe Hangout || "Sweet Cap'n Cakes" fic

Chromius, K_K

[Summary]

Chromius invites K_K over for dinner at a cafe, but unbeknownst to the RGB-lit musical bot, their feelings for K_K and lack of confidence proves to be troublesome.

7:00 PM, the sun is setting, street lights, building lights... road lights, all are turning on and adding to the atmosphere of Cyber Plaza's cityscapes and technologically-ran nature, solar panel-equipped roads and what have you.

The focus of tonight however, the RGB-lit musical bot who has been a recent new addition to the SCC, who appears to be sitting in a breakfast cafe, serving all sorts of breakfast meals all day round. They appear to be on their cell phone, staring at some messages.

"Made a bold decision there, bud, AHA... oh boy." Chromius sighs, just glancing down at their most recent messages, which is simply just an agreement on the hangout as a whole.

"But... hey! Maybe this won't be so bad after all! Maybe I'll have all the... the... the uh... oh."

A ring of the doorbell, and K_K, while in ducking posture, steps in through the door, to warm greetings from at least one or two other individuals, all the meanwhile Chromius has almost given up on the concept of speech and thinking as a whole.

"I was texted over here by one 'Chromi', is one of you Chromi?"

K_K asks, seeming to be in their usual lighthearted mood. Without verbally speaking, Chromius raises a hand.

"Good thing only one person raised their hand, otherwise this might've gotten very difficult." K_K speaks, attention pointed to Chromius as he walks over, seating himself on the other side of the table where Chromius sat. They've gone awfully quiet, now just tapping their fingers and awkwardly staring off to the side.

"Hey, Chromi. Got any orders, friendo? I'm famished, hungry, starved even. You might be the captain of the ship, but if you don't order soon I'll have to throw you overboard... matey." K_K chuckles, to which Chromius jumps, almost taking K_K's pirate talk seriously, jumping at the opportunity to speak for a worker of this establishment-

"Aye- matey! Can these two... uhm... UHHHH- crewmates- er... uh... CUSTOMERS! Yeah, customers, take their order now?" Chromius calls out to a waiter, apparently being a TV-head type individual, who judging by their displayed face, has a bit of concern for Chromius, but despite the setback, preps to take an order.

"A bit tense, no? Well... I'll help ease that up, customer. What'll it be for tonight?" The waiter asks, to which Chromius hastily picks up the menu laid out in front of them. Not even thinking, they decide...

"Crossiant. Just crossiant. A side of water as well please."

Chromius plainly speaks, prompting a nod from the waiter before looking over at K_K, who seems to be in ponderance.

"Give me about five ticks of the long hand on the clock, I'm not famished yet, but I should be here in that time. That good, captain?"

K_K speaks, again with the low-key pirate talk... and having spoken what he spoke despite literally stating to be hungry seconds ago.

"Give me a minute and I'll have the purple-lighted customer served. You, I don't even have to ask who you are, you're just about a friend to this whole district, K_K." The waiter speaks with a chuckle in good faith, before walking off to get that crossiant (and water) prepared.

"Hey, so it's just the two of us again. You, me, and this table. Feeling good? Great? Not-so-great? Why don't you ease your heart and talk to me a bit, Chromi? I don't bite, if that's what you've been thinking." K_K speaks, taking a note that, indeed- Chromius has been a bit of a mess since K_K's arrival.

"...W... Well... of course you wouldn't... unless, passionately...? And... and uh... Uhm... Oh let's see here, uh... Nice weather we're having?"

Chromius speaks, and K_K gives the forecast in response...

"Tonight's weather calls for partly cloudy. Tomorrow's weather also calls for partly cloudy, with winds of 20 miles per hour. Broadcast acquired from this morning, and this is weather reporter K_K, signing off and have a good night, Cyber World." Followed up by a chuckle.

Chromius is starting to feel bad about being a nervous wreck. K_K's just merely having fun, and they're feeling a complete lack of ability to follow up on it. They have to try a bit harder, so...

"...You're uh... a very good weatherman, I think. Maybe. That's kind of... well let's just say, a bit tough to report... and, hey, K_K, I know I haven't been the most stable tonight, so..."

And here comes the waiter once more!

"Alright, and here's your..."

"HUAHAHAAAAAA- OH- T... THANKS-"

Commence freakout from Chromius who thought they had a bit more privacy at that time, and that freakout didn't help the waiter either, who sprung right up at Chromius' freakout.

"S... Sir! Are you okay, sir?!" The waiter speaks-

"Y- Yeah! Fine! All honky-dorey sir! Ahaha- ha..."

Chromius lights are lighting up purple again. Fear, no doubt. It's at that time, suddenly that-

"I know my order. I know what I'd like. CD Bagels." K_K speaks with a smile that somehow almost speaks mischief.

"Alright, 'bagels' with an S, how much can I get you, Cakes?"

"Four-hundred." Speak of the devil. K_K really just spoke that amount.

"Alright, so that'll be four-... hold up. Did I mishear that?"

The waiter speaks, prompting K_K's response.

"Four-hundred. I said four-hundred." K_K speaks, still holding that smile as if this is an okay order.

"...Oh... oh my gigabytes. Cakes, that's... that's twelve-hundred cyber dollars. Plus, that's our ENTIRE STOCK, you know? You can't be..."

"About as serious as an action flick. Four-hundred, please."

K_K responds a bit more bluntly, still holding that smile.

Chromius can only look on in absolute fear now. Before, they would've thought there's no way the whole 'K_K and the 400 bagels' legend was real... but, it is. He's seriously ordering FOUR HUNDRED.

"O... Oh DEAR MERCIFUL HEAVENS YOU'RE ACTUALLY SERIOUS- O... okay... the cash then, please, PLEASE?"

The poor waiter, if they could actually sweat they would be right about now... doubly so when K_K actually gives the waiter 1,200 cyber dollars.

"...Oh I could just error code right about now. ALRIGHT- Chefs, bakers, all of you! We've got a MASSIVE order! All hands at the front! We've got TWELVE HUNDRED BAGELS TO PREPARE!" The waiter exclaims to basically the rest of the staff crew, nearly setting them into a panic that even spreads to a customer or two.

Chromius looks to be a complete state of shock. They fall silent for a good minute, their internal fans even revving up. It's quite audible too, and given Chromius imitating the look of labored breathing, K_K feels it's time to intervene, right as Chromius is about to hightail it straight for the exit. The musical bot's arm extends quite a bit, latching onto Chromius' right hand and halting them.

"The bagels, don't you want to stick around for them, Chromi?"

K_K speaks, a tad bit more serious now.

"Chromi. You were in a rush to leave, and your chassis is running like you're powering up into your next form, and what I'm trying to say is: That worries me. What's your CPU load right now?" K_K speaks, to which Chromius starts to slow down, just enough to speak.

"...Ninety percent. I've... well... um... I've heated up to eighty degrees celcius too. K_K- I'm not scaring you, am I?... Ohhh no oh no- I can't be doing that, look I'm terribly sorry-"

"Slow down, buckeroo, and put the foot on the brake pedal. These teeth aren't for biting, so I don't bite. You can be rest assured: I'm perfectly willing to listen. I'll hold back these punches as much as I can. So, promise me this, Chromi:" K_K puts on a more lighthearted smile, nudging Chromius back into their seat.

"Promise you'll end whatever tasks are making you run so blazing hot, and to let your shoulders drop." K_K speaks, his hand now on Chromius' shoulder, who shudders a bit before mocking a sigh.

"...If it puts both of us at ease, I'll try to ease up. Thanks, K_K."

Chromius speaks, seeming to have loosened up just a bit. Trying to fully let their shoulders drop though, was going to be a whole 'nother challenge with the clanging, banging and sizzling of equipment over the counter where the massive order was being put together.

"Ohhhhh sweet child oh mine, we're working them into overdrive... we're NOT getting off scoff-free..." Chromius speaks to themself, prompting from K_K...

"We're all bots here, a little vroom vroom hasn't hurt a bot. Not in the past sixteen days anyway." Which was no doubt a very oddly specific timeframe for K_K to say, and not exactly reassuring Chromius. Given their still seemingly nervous stature, K_K does what he can to avert this for the next few minutes.

Some amount of distracting idle chatter later... and a disgruntled monitor-head waiter, different from the previous worker, shows up to the duo's table, not even uttering a word before presenting the almighty plate itself. The plate of 400 CD bagels...

They drop it onto the table, walking away, posture seeming less than excited. Well now, that was not a pleasant meeting.

"...U... Uhm... K_K... that fellow didn't look... well y'know- happy. At all." Chromius speaks in concern before trying to reach their hand out for a bagel, being stopped by K_K halfway into their reach.

"Not yet, Chromi. These don't look properly baked. I've still got to work my magic on these. Wanna see a magic trick?" K_K speaks, before sweeping the plate into his hands, spying with his eyes...

A microwave oven flat against one of the cafe's walls. Usually meant for customers to heat up food themselves if they find that what they've been given hasn't been properly cooked. There was only one teeny-tiny little curious thing with K_K's reasoning however...

Every single one of these CD bagels looked to be made properly.

"Wh... what magic trick could come out of CD bagels...?" Chromius inquires as K_K makes his way to the microwave, causing the other to follow, finding that K_K is now trying to force in every single bagel into the microwave oven.

"H... hey. K_K. Wait... waitwaitwait- the bagels are perfectly fiiiine! We haven't even taste-tested any of them yet! Plus that's a LOT to just..."

Before Chromius could finish, they find themself swept off the ground, held with one arm by K_K, as he gives a smile that is somehow both wholly innocent and devilishly scheming.

"Who said anything about tasting them?" K_K speaks, before setting the microwave oven to a measely 20 seconds of cooking time, starting it... and then proceeding to tail it out of the cafe as soon as possible, his legs extending rather far so as to take really big steps.

"K_K?! What the heck are we doing?!" Chromius speaks aloud in panic, their attention darting to at least ten different spots, wondering why the heck they were just evicted from the cafe without a moment's notice.

"Don't ask questions you aren't prepared for the answer to, Chromi." K_K speaks, and before Chromius could even try to respond... an abrupt, spectacular explosion as the roof of the cafe goes flying right off, spinning like a flipped coin as a grand fireworks show blasts out from the cafe... and chaos ensues. The building ceiling smashing into nearby pavement, a few vehicles getting crushed, bots and other musically-inspired individuals going into panic mode...

And Chromius flailing their arms, legs, and shouting aloud in terror.

"K_K-- The whole thing! The cafe! It- It just- WHAT DID YOU DO?! MY MECHANICAL HEART CAN'T TAKE IT-"

Before Chromius can continue freaking out any more, K_K nudges their head upward... showing them that this was pretty much like an actual fireworks show... colorful sparkling patterns in the sky and all.

"If you're nervous, Chromi... just microwave a bagel and watch the fireworks go off. Maybe not 400 though. 399 should do it."

"O... OH-... Um... yeah... these are uh- some nice fireworks, K_K... I guess I'm a bit more at ease now. Hey, uh... oh boy. Uh... how do I word this, well..."

Before Chromius can try to get the ball rolling, however-

"The L word, correctomundo? Don't be nervous, I've had many other fans say they love me. 7591 others before you. You're the 7592nd in that case. Brave of you to be the first to say it to me directly though."

And, with all due strength, and a bit too much, K_K gives Chromius a big hug. Perhaps a bit too big, as Chromius stutters like mad- before falling limp and shutting down as an emergency measure.

"...Oh, whoops, look like it's Chromi's bedtime. Better tuck 'em in bed." And, sweeping Chromius up with both of his arms, K_K walks away from the absolute chaos he himself has wrought with his 400 bagels.

It's about a half-hour long walk back to where Chromius lives- apparently- and a disadvantage for K_K: The front door is locked.

"You've been practicing home security! Keep it up and I'll award you a badge for that." K_K chuckles as he evalutates what else he could do... and that window on the second floor looks like his answer.

"Alright bud, time to take the K_K elevator up!" And K_K extends his body all the way up to the second floor window... before smashing his head right through the window, and leaping in through the now-shattered window. With THAT out of the way, K_K tucks Chromius into bed... but there's at least four blankets laying loose, and with the cold air breezing into the window...

"Looking a bit chilly. Take all four, friendo." And proceeds to cover up Chromius with all four blankets. Looks a bit heavy, but surely the bot can manage that during sunrise. Now then, with tonight's work done, K_K whispers one last thing to Chromius:

"Thank you for that fun little cafe hangout. Let's make our next day count, Chromi."

K_K leaps out of the window, leaving Chromius to sleep the rest of the night in peace... shattered window aside.

...

The next day. Chromius finally boots up, and soonafter comes to their senses... seeing they've been buried under four blankets.

"I... don't need this many. That's odd." Proceeding to take the blankets off, Chromius heads over to the window, which looks to have a different frame than what they recall it having... and just out the window, four more discarded windows at their front yard.

The King's Will - my last rec (for now) by grainjew, a one shot focusing on Rayleigh and Luffy training on Ruskaina, and the application of conquerors haki, 2.3k, very, very good.

How it Should have Healed - by Wordlet, 36k, a hurt comfort series about Luffy’s numerous injuries over the years, and his crew taking care of him. Extremely sweet, hurts my heart, luffy please learn to take care of yourself, 100/10 reread all the time.

Already Forever by taizi - 1.8k, another of taizi’s fics that devastate me, nami realizing that the way luffy works will never be understood by any one else, really, really, really sweet.

Sea Shanties by Milo - 13k, luffy focused series of one shots, and the first one devastates me. zoro/luffy but it’s not romantic just platonic and this made me cry 100%, its just. So soft. Chapter 2 is with brook annd chapter 3 is with shanks and oh,,,, oh its so good. One of my absolute favorites of all time.

Twin Flames by SoccerSarah01 - 66k, a Marineford fix-it in which Sabo remembers, he and Ace call themselves not just brothers but twins, and everything changes. This is by Sarah whom I love and I 100% cannot rec this fic enough its so, so, so good. asl brother focused and the way the brothers are written im just the watery eyes emoji.

I'll be by your side (forever, always) by SoccerSarah01 - 1.5k this also by Sarah is another fix-it in which Luffy takes the blow for ace, and there aftermath and it hurts but ohh,,, its so sweet

Rising suns, free waters by Amazaria - 5k, vivi and shanks talk at mariejeoise fic how can you not fall for that like. Oh god the concept is so good, and amazaria executed it perfectly!!! 100% recommend, stays very true to the characters, and their like for one straw hat luffy.

Serendipity and other ordinary miracles by Amazaria - 2k, also by Amazaria, Straw Hat loyalty and discussion of dreams thats just so, so, so good. it hurts my heart, but luffy loves his crew and they love him so everything is okay.

All that we've yet to lose (burning, burning bright before us) by Amazaria - 1.9k, usopp and Gear 2’s effects on Luffy, dear god this makes me cry, like. Holy shit. Also some very good nami + zoro bonding in the background like!!! cries.

Who Knows (what could happen) by Chromi - 87k, the only unfinished fic on here but im putting it because HOLY SHIT! Essentially the journey of Ace and the Spades from Sixis to the Moby Dick, Ace/Deuce incredibly good writing I cannot stress that enough and also pining. So much pining. Deuce you are so gay. This fic is very lovingly and well written, does err on the more mature side than the rest of the fics I have listed here (just look at the tags) but not explicit by any means. Chromi also has like. Tons more ace/deuce fic, and I highly recommended checking out her Take My Breath Away [Tumblr SFW Prompt Fills] series!

Biggest fanfic-related disappointment of 2021?

That I didn’t end up finishing Persephone before the end of the year. I was hoping to go into Jan 2022 purely with editing and to maybe start posting by Feb (I had a whole timeline and deadline and everything) but real life happened a lot and I dropped the ball a bit over the summer. Will just have to keep plodding along a little longer. 

Biggest fanfic-related surprise of 2021?

Chromi deciding she likes my writing, considering she’s my main AceDeu inspiration across the board. Thank you for being a wonderful and ever so supportive friend! 

additionally, literally anyone liking my writing at all really, this is the most productive fic writing year I’ve ever had and I’ve been so glad to make some lovely friends along the way

Something you look forward to working on in 2022?

Finishing Persephone ASAP, get moving in my Klabautermann fic and then jump into some other multi-chapter ideas. And the continued unplanned additions to modern married AU, I’m sure. All the AceDeu, obviously 😉
