Should I try Norah Lofts' The Concubine? I know I won't like some... er... Narrative choices involving a masque... but is it good despite this?
In my opinion… no. Purple prose slayed shook the house down
#christopher rae >> all other AB novels tbqh#i know they’re not as easy to find free to read but TRULY by opinyon.#if affordable / free is a sticking point i would instead recommend g Lawrence’s series on AB#free on KU and cheap if you don’t have it#cumbersome at times bcus she seems to integrate literally every source and perspective from her bibliography#which at times makes it read contradictory#but like definitely very readable otherwise…#my favorites from the series are the lady anne and the last which is called judge the best#what’s in btwn i can sort of take or leave . those are where her writing is the most confident#in style#anon#*my
