Reformation Day 2024
On Oct 31, 1517, Martin Luther’s 95 Theses sparked a wave of change, challenging authority and paving the way for freedom of belief and thought. Today, I celebrate the courage to question, reform, and pursue truth a legacy that echoes through history.
Martin Luther, the father of modern-day faith-based preaching, chose this day, October 31st, All Hallows Eve, a CHRISTIAN holiday when Christians prepared themselves to celebrate All Saints Day on November 1st, to proclaim that salvation only comes through faith in Christ.
Today is Reformation Day, the day some 500 years ago that dramatically impacted the Christian church. If you attend a non-Roman Catholic church that proclaims faith in Jesus for salvation, you can thank God for THIS Day.

This includes the early Christians sharing their beliefs through personal testimony, charitable works, and community building rather than through coercion or force. In fact,…

3 Word Review: “The Confessions" by Augustine of Hippo - An opening half with a very human lament of past sin, but evolving to a passage of enlightenment; I recommend reading this with a guide of some kind to better appreciate the historical context. One of my favorite sources was the Literature and History podcast.

Photos taken in the central courtyard of Lincoln Cathedral after watching the final show of The Hunchback of Notre Dame on Saturday night. Fantastic show and a rare opportunity to see inside the Cathedral at night. The Gothic is my favourite architectural style, and a pivotal symbol of Lincolnshire's history. #architecture #gothic #gothicstyle #gothicarchitecture #cathedral #lincoln #lincolnshire #lincolncathedral #lincolnshirelife #history #socialhistory #art #theatre #hunchbackofnotredame #lincolnshirecountryside #lincolnheritage #lincolncity #Christianity #christianhistory #medieval #medievalhistory #medievalart #medievalarchitecture #photography #architectural #architecturalphotography #architecturalhistory #historian (at Lincoln Cathedral) https://www.instagram.com/p/CedhZCXo5Cf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

NEW MAP: Europe 312: Battle of the Milvian Bridge (28 October 312) https://buff.ly/3md3TDJ In late 311 Constantine and Licinius secretly agreed to align against Maxentius and Maximinus Daza. Convinced that Licinius would attack Italy from the northeast, Maxentius was unprepared when Constantine invaded from the northwest. Marching out to confront Constantine’s army as it approached Rome, Maxentius was defeated and killed at the Milvian Bridge in October 312. #312 #ancientrome #milvianbridge #carta #cartography #christianhistory #4thcentury #europe #europeanhistory #geopolitics #histories #historybuff #historyinthemaking #historylesson #historynerd #constantinethegreat #mapping #maps #militaryhistory #october #october28 #roman #romancivilwar #constantine #romanempire #romanhistory #maxentius #romans #worldhistory #newmap (at Ponte Milvio) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSffPvGhKIH/?utm_medium=tumblr

The Reconquista
The Reconquista was one of the most successful of campaigns waged against Muslims by the Christians. The Islamic Moors had occupied most of the Iberian peninsula since the fall of the Visigothic Kingdom, to the Umayyad Caliphate in the early 8th century.
The Reconquista started around 720 with the battle of Covadonga in the small Kingdom of Asturias, between the Umayyads and Christians.
Though never a united force, the Christian Iberian kingdoms often shared a common goal and identity. Which inspired great cooperation among them against their, often more politically united, Muslim rivals.
In 1212 a Crusade was declared against the Almohad Caliphate. Uniting the forces of Aragon, Castile, Leon, Navarra, and Portugal in the decisive Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa.
In 1444 all that remained of the once-mighty Islamic presence in Iberia were the Emirate of Granada. Which fell in 1492, a few months before the discovery of the New World and the start of ‘La Conquista’.

Using Christianity to justify antisemitism. A new Danish Bible translation wishes to pretend that the Christian Bible contains no mention of Israel. The official excuse is so that people do not confuse Israel with the modern day state. Meanwhile, no references to Egypt were removed for the same reason, showing that the true reason is antisemitism by pandering to those who hate the Jewish State alone.

The Gospel of Matthew: Word for Word Bible Comic Intro pages I'm really pleased with the quoted verse on this book. On each book, there is a verse from another part of the bible which encapsulates or sets up the story of the book. I asked for suggestions from the fan base and this one was best as it captures the theme but also uses a Messianic title that Matthew focuses on. Then there is the map helping readers get their bearings and set the stage for the story.
