Drew Holmes, IP Director for Far Cry, during the 20th Anniversary Celebration Livestream: “[Thanks] to the community, the fans, everyone who’s watching [for] the support, and the love, and the cosplay, and the embracing of... crazy, sociopathic, violent, murderous characters that… Yeah, you know, not gonna lie, it’s… it’s... it’s a take. But, uh… *short nervous giggle* we love the fact that there’s been so much passion”

My posts
Silent Hill 2 update: I have now recorded the first two hours of gameplay with commentary, which gets us through the jukebox puzzle reveal, and I’m going to be able to record that quest through our arrival at Woodside Apartments tomorrow, knock on wood. I’m working on a timestamped list of topics and some additional things I forgot to mention, because the commentary is a bit... information dense. It’s like, some new Fact every minute or two. This is mostly just because South Vale has a lot of easter eggs and lore per square inch. By the time we get to the apartments, it won’t be like, “Apartment 215 was named after the author Fifteen McCarthy” or anything, so it should calm down by that point.
But man, I was so jittery. I calmed down once I had some monsters to whack. That said, the frame rate was WILDING OUT, which ended up being pretty funny toward the end so I’ll allow it, but I can’t figure out why the game is this fussy this early on. I’ve checked my graphic settings, which are still the Optimized for PC settings that I found.
("Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly" did give me some comfort.)
Meanwhile, Ian did his first livestream commentary this past Wednesday, focusing at first on the music of Silent Hill 2.

June 2025 DC solicits let's go:
It does amuse me how hard DC are abusing the 'by popular demand' line for Trinity. Like usually when there are divisive characters there's at least a perceptible fandom for them in some community. I simply haven't seen that for Lizzie.
Absolute Wonder Woman and the Minotaur looks great. Wonder what references to Diana's relationship with Ferdinand will be in this.
Supergirl really looks like they're going for lighthearted fun.
Poison Ivy continues to look solid, at this point I trust Wilson knows exactly how she wants things to come out.
Interesting, running with a 9 issue arc in Catwoman for Grønbekk's first story. I wonder how they're planning to collect this.
I am going to laugh SO HARD if Chris Condon does indeed proceed to shoot Roy immediately on finally letting other Arrow characters into his run, right after Joshua Williamson spent most of his run reuniting characters at the cost of plot. Do I want Roy to be shot? No. Do I think this is hilarious tonal whiplash? Yes.
I know I'm a known Super Pet Hater, but the covers for Krypto look so good. I may actually enjoy this, and even if I don't, I just want to stare at that gorgeous Jae Lee cover a while longer.
I am really interested about what gloss over the Sandra-Carolyn-Richard-Ben relationships we're going to get in Batgirl, because it's been portrayed very different ways in Richard Dragon KFF, in Batgirl 2000, in Simone's Birds of Prey, and in Tynion's Tec, and while part of me wants some Richard Dragon energy the rest of me is aware of the level of updates in that 50 year old material necessary.
Robin & Batman: Jason Todd: my single note about this is if DC weren't cowards, they would insist on any long leg J.Todd Robin costume having yellow tights.
Batman & Robin: ETRIGAN! God this looks good.
Fire & Ice: MORE ETRIGAN! I am feeling fed, please one of these two books give me some Jason Blood (odds are on PKJ)
Birds of Prey still looks great. I adore the main cover
Looks like Dan Watters is doing a Monster Men story as his third arc in Dark Patterns. Starting to get a real Matt Wagner vibe from him. (This to clarify is a Good Thing TM imo)

Artist and musician Chris O'Doherty (also known as Reg Mombassa) was born in Auckland New Zealand in 1951 and migrated to Australia with his parents and brother in 1969. He attended the National Art School, Sydney 1969-70. He returned to art school in 1975 and obtained his diploma of painting. Reg formed rock band Mental as Anything in 1976 with four other art students; they have performed around the world and held group art exhibitions. Reg has exhibited paintings, drawings and prints at Watters Gallery Sydney since his first exhibition in 1975. He is also a graphic designer, working as a freelance artist and with Mambo Graphics. Reg performs with his brother Peter in the band Dog Trumpet.
Chris O'Doherty aka Reg Mombassa takes a more light-hearted approach to landscape that captures the spirit of the country. His landscapes with anthropomorphic objects, mixed mythological figures and archetypal landmarks form the hybrid of identities that inform Australia. The lone carcass of a burnt-out car in a burnt-out landscape is as much of our identity as is the barbecue worshipping suburban dweller, fighting off flies in Sydney. (A Gebers, Curator of Landscape as Knowledge).

If I told you about the darkness. That lives inside me. Would you still walk with me in the sun? Would you stay by my side. And try not to run?
Would you sit with me. A and tell me its going to be alright. When the sun light fades from the day. And brings on the night.
Would tell me not to fear the darkness. That I'm no longer alone. That the fears in the shadows, where the suns never shown.
Would you hold me like you'll never let me go. Until the fear starts to die. As the sun starts to show. Then walk with me. Once again in the light. Take my hand and tell me its gonna be alright.
For along with the darkness. There will always be light. Its the balence we need. To set things right. To counter the fear. That comes with the night.

How I Met My Husband
By Alice Munros
Tumblr media
INTRODUCTION
About the Author
Alice Munro is a beloved Canadian novelist and short story writer who has captivated readers around the world with her captivating and nuanced literary style. Born in 1931 in Wingham, Ontario, Munro grew up in a turbulent family environment before going on to study English Literature at the University of Western Ontario. Throughout her life, she has published numerous collections of short stories that explore complex themes such as love, loss, and the struggle to find one's place in the world. Her work has been praised for its honesty and emotional depth, which often draws upon her own experiences growing up in rural Canada. Despite facing significant challenges throughout her personal life, Munro continues to be an inspiration to many aspiring writers today.
About the Novel
Alice Munro's "How I Met My Husband" is a classic short story that explores the theme of social mobility and the power dynamics between men and women in rural Ontario during the 1950s. The protagonist, a young maid named Edie, develops a crush on the handsome pilot Chris Watters, who charms her with his stories of travel and adventure. However, when she learns that he is engaged to the wealthy Alice Kelling, Edie becomes disillusioned and decides to move on with her life.
Statement of the author
"How I Met My Husband"? It's a pretty fascinating story with an even more interesting thesis statement that speaks to the complexities and contradictions of love and romance. Munro argues, in essence, that we tend to fall in love with people because they represent something that is missing from our own lives - a kind of fantasy or idealized version of ourselves.
My own statement
But for me those fantasies can be shattered by the reality of the person we're actually involved with, leading to disappointment and disillusionment. The protagonist of the story learns this lesson firsthand as she falls in love with a man who seems to embody all her hopes and desires, only to realize that he is not what she thought he was. It's a poignant reminder that love is never quite as simple as we want it to be - but it can still be beautiful nonetheless.
Summary
Romantic relationship begins with an unexpected incident, leading to a never-ending journey of love.innocent girl who is visiting relatives in rural Ontario. She is captivated by the stunning view of the farm, and decides to climb up the steps of a strange house that she spots to get a better view. By this chance encounter with Chris Watters, a pilot, who flies over her head, the series of events that unfold bring him in, as her eventual husband as well. As fate would have it, Edie falls in love with Chris, thanks to his charming personality, and his sophisticated demeanor. It is as though they both are meant to be together, as Edie, initially, had not considered him as a romantic prospect, she had even taken a firm stance of steering clear of romance. But alas, destiny had other plans for her. In some ways, it depicts how our choices and decisions in life can alter our fate in ways that we cannot predict or expect.
Analysis
Alice Munro's "How I Met My Husband" is a short story that is widely regarded as a masterpiece of modern literature. However, like any work of art, it is not without its flaws. The story takes place in a predominantly white, rural community, and there is no representation of diverse cultural backgrounds or experiences.
Conclusion
The story presents traditional gender roles. This reinforces gender stereotypes and fails to challenge them. It is important to note that these criticisms are not meant to diminish the value of the story or the skill of the author. Instead, they are intended to encourage critical thinking and discussion about the themes and messages conveyed in the story.
