1 which character pov do you enjoy writing the most?

ok so i am going to answer this for 9-1-1 and stranger things if that's ok <3 for 9-1-1 one might think that it's chris or eddie considering i've written their povs the most but i actually Love writing bobby pov and buck pov!! bobby because his voice feels so distinct to me and buck because his mind is just such a crazy place. like eddie is fun and i definitely tend to go for his pov more often either because it works better for the plot or bc it comes more easily, but buck is such a fascinating little bug to me. also writing buck pov lets me be like maddie is an angel and the best person alive and she's sooooo strong and perfect <333 bc that's his sistermom and he loves her soooo much. maddie pov is similarly fun bc she looks at buck towering over her with fuckin ham hocks for biceps and she's like That Is A Baby.

and for stranger things to this day the most fun i've ever had was writing nancy's pov! i think i only did it the one time but it was a blast. much like buck and bobby her voice is very distinct and her mind is an insane place to be. she has a habit of making absolutely batshit choices while acting like they're normal which is very fun to write!

i have a prompt for the gotcha that i'm literally so into but it's like. inspired by a song. and i LOVE the song that's why i basically begged for this prompt but i've actually never set out to write a fic based on a song before and i'm struggling a lot with like. how literal to be yknow how close do i stick to the lyrics and how much do i go off of the Sentiment etc. it should be easy but it just is not rn fkvjdjcjd

I'm so angry about the Chalamet Dylan biopic. I'm so offended as someone who is 100% that socialist, hates plastic beauty, wants to end multi-national corporations, thinks using over-art-directed and overgrown teenagers to hock us junk we don't need so 5 assholes addicted to money can horde it on an island somewhere is a disgrace, etc.

This casting choice is the antithesis of everything Dylan stands for. And who is this movie for, anyway? Do they think some younguns who don't know who this man is are gonna get really into him because they cast, to quote the great Chris Fleming, the indoor beach child? Of course not, Charlie XCX-loving Chalamet fans will definitely not be showing up to this like, hey, who's this weird little dude and what's his story? I'm intrigued by his beatnik attitude and gravely talk-singing!

Let's get real: I'm not alone here, I am symbolic of all other young Dylan fans like me. We are all saying the same thing, but nobody is listening to us. So they're gonna make this movie and it's gonna bomb because they're doing it in typical Hollywood fashion: shallow, industry-political, bulshitty, lazy af.

And the sad thing is we're being deprived of the Bob Dylan biopic we deserve, and we'll never get it so long as the film industry is run in this stagnant ass-backwards way.

So when the ads for the movie start coming out, I think we'll all be saying the same thing at the sight of Chalamet's face:

Chris Pine on Don't Worry Darling and "spitgate" in Venice for Esquire, 1 March 2023:

"When he’s alone in the sauna, Pine will stretch or listen to a podcast, but because I’m here, we talk about his last big moment out in the world: the seemingly quite nutso Don’t Worry Darling press tour, consumed soap-operatically by a diversion-craving populace when the film premiered in Venice last September. “If there was drama, there was drama,” Pine says of the shoot, but for the record, “I absolutely didn’t know about it, nor really would I have cared. If I feel badly, it’s because the vitriol that the movie got was absolutely out of proportion with what was onscreen. Venice was normal things getting swept up in a narrative that people wanted to make, compounded by the metastasizing that can happen in the Twittersphere. It was ridiculous.” He speaks well of Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles (“a sweet guy”), loves Florence Pugh—whom he first worked with in 2018’s Outlaw King—“to fucking death,” and maintains that nobody spat on anybody in Venice.

And those photos of Pine spacing out during that Venice press conference, the ones people turned into memes imagining him rethinking his every life choice, trying to astral-project his consciousness away from the torture chamber of the Darling promo cycle? “All the memes I saw about my face in Venice made me fucking laugh,” he says, especially the one captioned “me on an important zoom call watching my cat throw up on the sofa.” But he swears all he was doing was admiring the ceiling of the Palazzo del Casinò, jet-laggedly. “Sometimes the question’s not that interesting,” he says, “and you just fucking zone out, and you’re looking at a ceiling because it’s really pretty.”

The runaway narrative around Darling meant nobody talked about Pine’s magnetically unpleasant turn as a midcentury-modern cult leader, recasting his natural charisma as something toxic and threatening for a movie about retrogressive masculinity. It’s the latest of many Chris Pine films in which he simultaneously embodies and interrogates an old-school idea of movie manliness, squaring the past with the values of the present.

It was the waning days of summer and the Venice Film Festival was in full swing. The warm sun was setting on a perfect Italian evening, and the cast of Don't Worry Darling was finally premiering their anticipated film. But Pine does admit, he sees how the fire spread. "I was on the plane with my publicist, who says I look like Rachel from Friends [with my current hairstyle], we're flying back from Venice. And I'm sleeping, having a great time on the plane. I love planes," he begins. "And she wakes me up, in a, you know, in a state. She says, 'We have to craft a message about what happened in Venice.' Turns out, it was just a joke between Styles and Pine that was shared. As Pine says: "I think what he said, is he leaned down, and I think he said, 'It's just words, isn't it?' Because we had this little joke, because we're all jetlagged, we're all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you're doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, 'It's just words, man.'"

i don't understand the point of those articles about men being suicidal because they're expected to be providers or not taught to be emotionally intelligent that always explicitly or implicitly blame feminism. yet so many women in the comments on this article are pouring out their hearts, crying about 'systemic misandry' and saying how we need to help men -- i've never seen men so passionate and self-castigating about the rates of depression and anxiety in teenage girls. rather, they accuse us of 'doing it for attention.'

my question: why are young men pointing the finger at women of the same age, and not their fathers and grandfathers who raised them with these ideals to be a provider? men created the idea of men being providers and reinforced it by not allowing women to have careers. women are also expected to be useful, to keep a home and bear children and look nice for her husband. despite what chris rock says, women aren't loved unconditionally (nor children nor dogs), as evidenced by men often leaving their wives after a cancer diagnosis. this isn't 'patriarchy keeping men down too,' it's recoil from the gun. women have been challenging and critically engaging with the notion of femininity and the social aspect of womanhood for centuries, and men are having an essential crisis because we politely asked them to sit back, reconsider masculinity for a second, and look within. funny that the gender who loves to quote nietzsche refuses to try gazing into the abyss.

I suggest we teach men to feel useful when they wash the dishes, run the vacuum, pick up the kids at school, bring the snacks for kids sports, take the dog to the vet, dust, do laundry and empty the pockets, send thank you notes, buy birthday gifts and for the love of god, figure out what we are having for dinner!

This is a great article and I really enjoyed reading it. This point however I have a bit of an issue with. Is it really our job to ensure masculinity has a blue print? I feel like thats a personal problem. It's called self-actualization and creating your own lane. Why do men have to be masculine? Why do we have to define masculinity? I feel like these are all subjective to whoever is perceiving it and its meaning needs to be defined by the individual.
