Auction Punjab Kings was yet another franchise that remained busy than most. Punjab Kings invested heftily to bolster their fast-bowling department by recruiting Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith, dishing out INR 14 and 8 crores respectively. But the best buy from their respective was of Dawid Malan, the number one T20I batsman, going at a base price of INR 1.50 crores.
With Malan on their side, they have some happy headaches with five specialist openers in their side including the English southpaw, captain KL RAHUL, Chris Gayle, Mandeep Singh, and Mayank Agarwal.
The Punjab-based franchise also invested in strengthening their all-rounder’s unit by roping in Shahrukh Khan and Moises Henriques – both of who are capable T20 players. On the other hand, all-rounder Jalaj Saxena’s purchase was also a smart one. Thus, their performance in IPL 2021 auction could be rated as 8.5 out of ten. And one could likely see them lifting the IPL title in 2020 and end its quest finally.
Chennai super king entered IPL 2021 auction with INR 19.90 crores and six slots to fill, of which the overseas requirement was only one. Moeen Ali, who they bought for INR seven crores, was already expected to be on their radar. But Chennai should opt for the English all-rounder to open the innings since there are plenty of players at the lower order to perform the finisher’s role. And with Shane Watson retired from T20 cricket and subsequently released, the yellow army needs a swashbuckling opener.
While the lesser-known purchases in the domestic circuit did not raise eyebrows, buying Cheteshwar Pujara and shelling out INR 9.25 crores on K Gowtham did. Pujara remains a liability in the shortest format due to his strike rate and the inability to plunder big shots at will. With Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, and Naryanan Jagadeesan on the side, India’s premier Test batsman might not get an opportunity.

IPL 2020 mid-season transfer: Full list of Players in IPL Mid season transfer | Cricket News
New Post has been published on https://jordarnews.in/ipl-2020-mid-season-transfer-full-list-of-players-in-ipl-mid-season-transfer-cricket-news/
IPL 2020 mid-season transfer: Full list of Players in IPL Mid season transfer | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Some very talented players who haven’t got many chances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and are warming the benches, will have the opportunity to don a jersey of some other team. With the introduction of the mid-season transfer window from last season, the fans will be able to see some of their favourite stars in action, but for other teams. This season the rules have changed slightly. As all the teams have now played 7 matches each, the mid-season transfer window is open from Tuesday (October 13). WHAT IS IPL’S MID-SEASON TRANSFER WINDOW? The IPL teams can loan out Indian and overseas players under this rule. The rule from this season applies to both uncapped and capped players. WINDOW: The mid-season transfer window for IPL 2020 will be open for five days, starting Tuesday (October 13). ELIGIBILITY: According to the mid-season transfer rule, both capped and uncapped players, Indian and overseas will get the chance to find new teams, depending on mutually agreed upon loan fees etc. CRITERIA: As per the rules, the players who are being loaned should not have played more than two games. The loans will be executed as per the mutual understanding of the two teams. The IPL Governing Council will have to be notified for all such transfers. IS THIS GOING TO BE A PERMANENT TRANSFER? No. The transfer applies for the current season only. For example; if Chris Gayle is traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), as per the IPL 2020 mid-season transfer rules, the swashbuckling batsman will be playing for CSK for the 2020 season and will have to come back to Kings XI Punjab (his current team) in IPL 2021. These transfers are not permanent transfers. They are loans, based on mutually agreed upon loan fees and are applicable only for the rest of the current season. THE BIG CATCH As per the IPL 2020 mid-season transfer rules, a traded player cannot play against his parent team. For example, if Chris Gayle is traded to CSK, then he cannot play against KXIP in the return leg of this clash this season on November 1. CHANCE FOR TEAMS TO REPLACE INJURED PLAYERS? The 2020 season has seen a number of injuries. Ishant Sharma (DC), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH), Mitchell Marsh (SRH), and Amit Mishra (DC) have already been ruled out of the cash-rich league due to injuries. The transfer window can also be helpful for teams who are looking for specific replacements for injured players, for whom replacements haven’t been announced yet, though this will need the permission of the IPL Governing Council. Most teams though might opt for the option to pick unsold players at their base price, after the Governing Council’s approval. PLAYERS WHO CAN POTENTIALLY FIND NEW TAKERS Delhi Capitals’ Ajinkya Rahane, Chennai Super Kings’ Imran Tahir, and Mumbai Indians’ Chris Lynn are three big names franchises may consider, among others. Rahane has played just 1 game for DC out of 7 this season, while Tahir, who took 26 wickets for CSK last season and won the purple cap and Lynn haven’t featured in a single game in the tournament so far.

IPL price tags much higher than those in other leagues
NEW DELHI: Thanks to the successful model of the Indian Premier League (IPL), many other countries have followed India’s lead and come up with domestic T20 leagues of their own.
While the IPL of course boasts of the longest list of international players from across the world, the other leagues too attract international players. Indian cricketers of course are allowed to play only in the IPL.
These are some of the big domestic T20 leagues that are hosted by various cricket playing countries:
India – Indian Premier League, Australia – Big Bash League, Pakistan – Pakistan Super League, West Indies – Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh – Bangladesh Premier League, South Africa – Mzansi Super League.
However, when it comes to player remuneration for star/key players, the IPL usually is miles ahead of other leagues.
Let’s take a look at five players who play the IPL, as well as other leagues and what the salary comparison looks like:
Kieron Pollard: The star West Indian all-rounder was bought back by the Mumbai Indians for Rs. 5.40 crore ahead of the 2018 edition of the IPL using the right to match (RTM) card. Pollard has also played in the Big Bash, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Compare his IPL price tag now with his PSL price tag. Pollard was part of the Peshawar Zalmi team in the PSL and was bought for a sum between Rs. 99 lakh and Rs. 1.4 crore. Meanwhile in the CPL, Pollard was bought by St Lucia Stars for around Rs. 93 lakh.
Chris Gayle: The self proclaimed ‘Universe boss’ is one of the greatest entertainers ever with the cricket bat. With his swashbuckling-style of batting and the power of hitting monstrous sixes, Gayle’s game is perfectly suited to the T20 format. In the IPL auction before the 2018 edition, Gayle was bought by KXIP for his base price of Rs 2 crore. The hard-hitting batsman was retained by the Punjab outfit for the 2019 season for Rs. 2 crore. Though that’s a pittance compared to how much teams were once willing to pay for the Jamaican opener, it’s still way more than what he earns in say the CPL.
Apart from the IPL, Gayle also features in the Big Bash, CPL, PSL and BPL. He was bought by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL for around Rs. 11 lakh.
Martin Guptill: One of New Zealand’s all time best batsmen, Guptill is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and is being paid Rs. 1 crore. Guptill has also played in CPL for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The Caribbean team bought the New Zealander for around Rs. 11 lakh.
Shakib Al Hasan: By virtue of being an all-rounder, Shakib has often been a hot bid in the IPL auctions. Shakib, was retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL franchise for Rs. 2 crore.
Meanwhile the Barbados Tridents CPL franchise acquired his services for around Rs. 93 lakh.
AB de Villiers: The former South African top-order batsman, who retired from international cricket in 2018 was retained by the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs. 11 crore. He of course has been with RCB since the fourth season of the IPL.
‘Mr. 360’ meanwhile led the Tshwane Spartans in the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League in South Africa. De Villiers also played for the first time in the Pakistan Super League recently, where he was bought for Rs 1.5 crore (approx) by the Lahore Qalandars.
The Indian players, on the other hand are not allowed by the BCCI to feature in other T20 leagues around the world. However, in terms of money earned, the Indian players (capped as well as uncapped) command much higher price tags vis a vis other leagues. Of course a large part of this is thanks to the fact that the IPL has been around for much longer as compared to most other leagues and a player’s salary usually goes up when he is retained by a franchise.
As per the contract extensions list released by the IPL on November 18, 2018, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore was retained for Rs. 17 crore.
Veteran wicket-keeper batsman and former India captain MS Dhoni was second on the list. He was retained by Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 15 crore.
Mumbai Indians retained their captain Rohit Sharma for a price tag of Rs. 15 crore.
Meanwhile uncapped player Varun Chakravarthy was bought by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping Rs. 8.4 crore during the player auction held in December 2018. Varun became the joint most expensive player to be sold at the auction, along with Jaydev Unadkat.

Watch: Chris Gayle Lends His Dance Moves To Shikhar Dhawan
No team moved a muscle when Chris Gayle’s name was called by auctioneer Richard Medley on two occasions at the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) Player Auction. Eventually, it was Kings XI Punjab who snapped up the big-hitting Jamaican at the last moment for his base price of Rs. 2 crore. KXIP need to sideline Glenn Maxwell or just give him 1 more chance: Kevin Pietersen
New Post has been published on https://jordarnews.in/kxip-need-to-sideline-glenn-maxwell-or-just-give-him-1-more-chance-kevin-pietersen/
KXIP need to sideline Glenn Maxwell or just give him 1 more chance: Kevin Pietersen
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen said Kings XI Punjab need to take a call on Glenn Maxwell’s future in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, considering his failures in the tournament so far. Pietersen’s comments came after KXIP were handed a 69-run thrashing by Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on Thursday.
Glenn Maxwell was bought by Kings XI Punjab at IPL 2020 auction for Rs 10.5 crore but the all-rounder has struggled to live up to the price tag. While he lit up the stage in the UAE in 2014, his latest stint with KXIP in the UAE has been far from impressive.
In 6 matches, Glenn Maxwell has managed just 48 runs at an average of 12 and a strike rate of less than 100. With the ball, the Australian all-rounder has taken just 1 wicket, conceding at over 9 per over.
SRH vs KXIP, IPL 2020: Highlights | Report
On Thursday, after a rare failure from both KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, all hopes were pinned on Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran who was hitting it cleanly in their chase of 202 against SRH. However, the big-hitter got run out for 7, leaving Pooran with a lot of work to do. Pooran managed 77 from 37 balls but with no support from his teammates, KXIP slipped to a 69-run defeat — their heaviest to SRH in IPL history.
“This year will be very very difficult for him (Rahul). He has not got the support of his big players and that one particular big player is Maxwell. Maxwell needs to either be sidelined or he gets one more chance,” Kevin Pietersen told Star Sports in a post-match show.
‘There is a hell lot of pressure on KL Rahul’
KL Rahul has the Orange Cap with 313 runs in 6 matches but his team has managed just 1 win and are pegged at the bottom of the 8-team IPL 2020 points table.
“There is so much pressure on KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal going into the chase. It’s unfair pressure. It’s okay Nicholas Pooran played nicely. There are some good players in and around.
“You can’t have him captain and give him wicketkeeping responsibilities and then have him thinking that he has to score all the runs because the other overseas players are not getting the runs. There is a hell of a lot of pressure,” Pietersen said.
Gayle has to do magic but where will he bat? Pietersen
Nonetheless, the former England batsman said It’s difficult getting Chris Gayle into the side even if KXIP are thinking about replacing Glenn Maxwell with the West Indies big-hitter. Notably, head coach Anil Kumble said Gayle was all set to play against SRH in Dubai on Thursday but a stomach problem ruled him out of the tie in the 11th hour.
“It’s about just knuckling down and trying to speak to the players individually and trying to get the best out of the players. But also, set your mark out and say ‘this is the team that I am going to play for the next 3-4 games.
“I am going to (have a) go at Maxwell here because he hasn’t delivered. He is a big, big player for that franchise. If he is not part of the process, then you have to bring somebody else in.
“And Gayle, Anil Kumble said he would have played but he had a bit of an upset tummy. So he is going to have to produce some magic but where is he going to bat? I don’t think he can bat at No. 3 or No. 4 because of his running between the wickets,” Pietersen said.
Having already entered the must-win territory, Kings XI Punjab will next face high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Alex Carey How typically does one see a cricketer coming in to play at No. 7 and creating batting information? That could be a uncommon scene within the sport. That is not an excuse; that is only a reality. And KG is – you may see that his tempo might be somewhat bit down from the place he usually is,” du Plessis had stated. Countdown to IPL 2019: Most centuries in IPL history
NEW DELHI: Scoring a century in the slam-bang version of the game is never an easy thing to do. Take the IPL for example. 52 centuries, scored in over 650 games, spanning over a decade is a testament to this fact. There are lot of players who have struggled to score even a single century in the IPL, but the West Indian marauder Chris Gayle is right on top of the pile, with as many as six centuries in the tournament so far.
Here TOI Sports recaps the most centuries scored by a player in the tournament, ahead of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League.
1. Chris Gayle IPL Matches – 112 IPL 100s – 6
The ‘Universe Boss’ made his IPL debut in 2009 – the second edition of the tournament – and his highest scores in his first two seasons were 44* and 88 playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. But it was the lull before the storm, as Gayle – the first player to have scored a century in T20Is – moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011 and immediately made his presence felt by scoring two tons in the fourth edition of the IPL. Gayle is all about power, superb hand-eye coordination coupled with brute force and he proved it by aggregating 733 runs with the help of an unbeaten 128 the very next year. The swashbuckling left-hander was on a rampage in 2013 as he notched up a huge score – an unbeaten 175 off just 66 balls – against the now-defunct Pune Warriors. In the process, he hit the highest individual score in the history of the tournament, as well as in T20 cricket overall. Gayle also recorded the fastest T20 hundred off just 30 balls. His record-shattering knock saw him smash 17 sixes and 13 boundaries. Five of his six centuries have been scored while playing for RCB. Gayle found a new home at Kings XI Punjab after being released by RCB in 2018 and he did not let them down, by hitting a scorching 104 against Chennai Super Kings in Mohali.
2. Virat Kohli IPL matches – 163 IPL 100s – 4
Virat Kohli – the run-machine – has been playing for RCB for the past 11 seasons. With 4948 runs to his credit, the prolific Indian batsman is in second place behind Suresh Raina in the IPL leading run scorers chart (4985 runs). The unique fact about King Kohli’s four centuries in the glitzy league is that he scored all his four IPL tons so far in one season. The Indian skipper wrote his name in the history books by hitting all of them in the 2016 edition of the IPL. He also scored a record 973 runs in 16 matches, at an astonishing average of 81.08. Kohli, who is currently the most expensive player in IPL history after RCB retained him for a whopping price of Rs 17 crore during the 2018 IPL transfer window, scored centuries against Gujarat Lions in both home and away games while the other two hundreds were scored against Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab.
3. Shane Watson IPL matches – 117 IPL 100s – 4
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has also scored four centuries so far in the IPL with two of those being scored in last year’s edition. Watson first scored a century against Rajasthan Royals at Pune and then hit his second – an unbeaten 117 – against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the crucial final, guiding Chennai Super Kings to the title last season. The burly Aussie had scored his other two tons for the Rajasthan Royals earlier. The first ton was scored against his current side CSK in 2013, while his second was notched up against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2015.

Warner struck his third hundred (126) – which is also his highest IPL score – playing for SRH against KKR in 2017. (TOI Photo)
AB de Villiers (Matches – 141 and 100s – 3)
South African superstar AB de Villiers, who started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) is more popular in India than his home country. The 35-year-old has been extremely successful in the subcontinent and has notched up three centuries at a blazing strike rate of 150.53 with a highest score of 133* which he scored against Mumbai Indians in his IPL career. (TOI Photo)
4. David Warner IPL matches – 114 IPL 100s – 3
David Warner, one of the most destructive openers in the cricketing world, has smashed 3 centuries in the IPL so far. Warner, who was banned for his role in last year’s Cape Town ball-tampering scandal, will be very keen to make a mark on his IPL comeback, after missing last season’s tournament. The diminutive Australian – who has played some stunning innings at the top, has scored more than 4000 runs in the cash-rich league. Warner, who started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), scored his first IPL century against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2010. The 35-year-old has been extremely successful in the subcontinent and has notched up three centuries at a blazing strike rate of 150.93 with a highest score of 133* which he scored against Mumbai Indians in his IPL career. He scored his first century (105) against CSK while playing for DD way back in 2009 in South Africa. While his next two centuries were scored in RCB colours against MI and Gujarat Lions in 2015 and 2016 respectively. De Villiers, who is known for his pioneering batting, has played some great knocks for RCB and has been the mainstay of their middle order over the years.

Kings XI Punjab: Will team's fate finally change under Ashwin in IPL 2018?
Besides roping in a new captain, the franchise has invested heavily in hiring India opener Lokesh Rahul at a whopping Rs 110 million, along with Australian T20 specialists Andrew Tye and Aaron Finch.
IPL 2018 : Even as Kings XI Punjab prepares for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) under new skipper Ravichandran Ashwin, it will hope for a turnaround in its fortunes, having failed to live up to the expectations it raised at the start of each of the past 10 seasons.
The Punjab-based franchise managed to reach the top four only on a couple of occasions. They finished third in the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008 and then came agonisingly close to winning the title in 2014 but were denied by Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the previous edition, they missed the play-offs by a whisker to eventually finish at the fifth spot. Ahead of the 2018 player auction, the Mohali-based side made its strategy quite clear of revamping a faltering team, by retaining only left-arm spinner Axar Patel.
They however, used their right-to-match cards at the auction to keep some of their best players from the previous season in Australian Marcus Stoinis, South African David Miller and India discard Mohit Sharma.
Besides roping in a new captain, the franchise invested heavily in hiring India opener Lokesh Rahul at a whopping Rs 11 crore along with Australian T20 specialists Andrew Tye and Aaron Finch.
In terms of experience, the Kings XI squad can boast of the likes of West Indian power-hitter Chris Gayle and veteran Yuvraj Singh, who were both bought at their base prices of Rs 2 crore each.
Punjab also have a solid middle-order with some proven Indian talent in their side. Domestic heavyweights Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwary will likely to add depth to the Kings batting unit.
With Rahul doubling up as the wicketkeeper, Punjab’s all-round options will be shouldered mainly by Marcus Stoinis, Yuvraj and Axar.
Youngsters Mayank Dagar and Manzoor Dar can also be handy options with both the bat and ball.
However, Punjab’s bowling looks frail on paper despite being led by off-spinner Ashwin. With Axar in company, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Zadran may have to wait for his opportunity.
Punjab’s major cause of worry is the lack of big names in the pace department barring Tye. With young Ankit Rajpoot, the domestic duo of Mohit Sharma and Barinder Sran will have a chance to use this season as a platform to get back in the national reckoning.

IPL 2018: Squad analysis of KXIP - Tigers set to 'roar loud'
Done with the tag of being the most under-performing team among all Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, Kings Xi Punjab went for a star-studded batting line-up to roar loud in the upcoming edition.
Aiming to shed their inconsistent tag, Punjab has gone big on experience, especially in the batting department, making them the most dangerous side.
However, they might have the problem of plenty in the batting department.
With Ravichandran Ashwin, who has 100 wickets in 111 IPL games at an economy of under 7, as the skipper, the franchise would want to make a fresh start and aim at clinching the title in their eleventh attempt.
Also read: IPL 2018: Squad analysis of KKR — 'Karthik's Knight Riders'
Before the auctions, Punjab had only retained Axar Patel. But back at the auctions in January, the franchise managed to grab Marcus Stoinis, Mohit Sharma and David Miller via the Right to Match Card.
However, during auction Punjab snapped experienced veterans, including the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle, who might not be as effective as in their prime but getting them at their base price is a street-smart move.
Also read: IPL 2018: Squad analysis of Rajasthan Royals, the prodigal son returns
With Indian batsman KL Rahul, who is the costliest purchase of Punjab at Rs 11 crore, and Aussie opener Aaron Finch, Rs 6.2 crore, also in the scheme of things, Punjab look a formidable force ahead of the season.
Finch is a perfect option alongside Gayle atop and together the duo can dismantle any bowling line-up on a given day.
Also read: IPL 2018: Squad analysis of MS Dhoni's 'Yellow Brigade'
Finch has been in good form for the Aussies and he will look to carry on the momentum.
KL Rahul is another vital fit at the top order and will most likely keep wickets.
Yuvraj, who is also making a comeback to KXIP, will be hoping to make a difference in the middle order.
South African star David Miller is another experienced player and his presence also lifts up the side.
talking about the young guns, With Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal and Manoj Tiwary in the squad, the side does look well armoured.
However, consistency will be the key for KXIP’s batsmen to get big runs and help their side hold control in the game.
Meanwhile, the Australian bowler Andrew Tye, captain Ashwin himself, Mohit Sharma, Barinder Sran etc. pace up Punjab's bowling attack.
Although the pace bowling unit lacks the fire-power to deliver consistently.
The only loose point in KXIP is lack of a genuine wicketkeeper in the side. Therefore Rahul’s impact is crucial with little known Akshdeep Nath the back-up.
Ashwin's decision making is vital and with a lot of experienced foreign stars, he will get desired help
Altogether, Punjab dominates the batting order tut their weak pace department and Ashwin's inexperience as a skipper could separate Punjab from the teams which will reach play-offs.
Team:
Retained: Axar Patel (12.5 cr)
Purchased: R Ashwin (7.6 cr), Yuvraj Singh (2 cr), Karun Nair (5.6 cr), KL Rahul (11 cr), David Miller (3 cr), Aaron Finch (6.2 cr), Marcus Stoinis (6.2 cr), Mayank Agarwal (1 cr), Ankit Rajpoot (3 cr), Manoj Tiwary (1 cr), Mohit Sharma (2.4 cr), Mujeeb Zadran (4 cr), Barinder Sran (2.2 cr), Andrew Tye (7.2 cr), Akshdeep Nath (1 cr), Ben Dwarshius (1.4 cr), Pardeep Sahu (20 L), Mayank Dagar (20 L), Chris Gayle (2 cr), Manzoor Dar (20 L)
