oooh anon this works well with a little noodle i had recently for a coworkers/office au!

the sun is out, her hair looks great, the weather is perfect for her new outfit, she feels good, she looks good - but the one person she wants to look at her isn't here.

"Beatrice is out today," Lilith had said from across the table, not even looking away from her computer screen, "maybe you'll get some actual work done while she's gone."

Ava had rolled her eyes and accidentally tipped over Lilith's jar of pens as she'd passed by her desk but even that hadn't been satisfying as she'd stepped outside of the office by herself.

she isn't mad - really, she's glad that Beatrice was taking time off. ever since Ava had started at the company at the beginning of the year, she hadn't once seen Beatrice take a day off from work. sure there were appointments here and there, but Ava saw see her at least once a day everyday, on her way to grab a snack from the pantry, or offer to get some coffee, or ask Beatrice to look over a document that had nothing to do with her department.

Lilith always rolls her eyes when Ava comes by but the thing is, yeah people say all the time to "reach out anytime!" but Beatrice is different. when Beatrice had been assigned as her 'onboarding buddy' for her first month on the job, Ava had learned that a) Beatrice knew everything there was to know about the company and b) she actually means it when she says to come to her for anything. no matter what Ava has for her, no matter the time of day, Beatrice has never turned her away - at most has had Ava wait as she finishes an email or come back if she's on her way to a meeting, but she always, always makes time for Ava. so excuse her for feeling off for not being able to see her favorite person.

Ava huffs, pouts to herself, then decides fuck it, she has no meetings, nothing urgent this afternoon: she's taking gonna take a long lunch. so she heads for a park a couple blocks from the office, the one Beatrice had pointed out during her first week and she finds the fountain Beatrice had mentioned with that small smile that had made Ava a little breathless and a lot enamored.

she can tell why Beatrice likes this park - it's a lot like her, Ava thinks as she eats her sandwich. it's quiet but full of all sorts of beautiful things if one looks closely enough, waits long enough - the birds hiding in the trees, the sparkles in the fountain, the soothing summer breeze. she can imagine Beatrice sitting at one of the benches, maybe reading a book, or a cup of tea, or in a soft hoodie and red eyes -

Ava blinks. realizes she's not imagining things at all.

she swallows down the last of her sandwich, watches Beatrice carefully. there's a heaviness about her, a weight on her shoulders and yet she doesn't seem truly there - eyes distant and unseeing, or maybe seeing something that isn't there.

and Ava gets it. she gets needing to be alone and it feels like she's intruding, sitting here, seeing Beatrice like this. she gathers up her things as quickly and quietly as she can, turns to leave -

- and trips over the bench she'd just stood up from, introducing her face to the grass.

"excuse me, are you alright?"

Ava groans because of course Beatrice would help; of course she'd have to see her like this.

"yep, I'm good. just bruised the ol' ego."

"Ava?"

she groans again, rolls over, squints into the sun - realizes, fuck, there goes her perfect outfit - and smiles to hopefully ease the concern on Beatrice's face. "hey Bea." she gets to her feet with Beatrice's help, brushes off the worst of the dirt, holds back her sigh at the grass stain on her pants. "so uh, I thought you were on vacation."

Beatrice purses her lips together and shrugs. "not really. I just - it's easier, to just take this day off."

Ava racks her brain for all the facts and trivia she's learned about Beatrice over the past few months, but nothing comes up in connection to this particular date. "okay," she says, still watching carefully. "do you - do you want me to pretend I didn't see you?"

something bewildered passes over Beatrice's face and Ava just - keeps going. "I can if you want - because you're supposed to be on PTO and all, like, I don't know, do we need to sync our alibis like on those detective mystery shows or something?"

Beatrice raises an eyebrow; Ava tries not to swoon. "you think I'm taking time off to commit a murder?"

"shh, we're in public, you don't know who might be listening!" Ava flaps her arms as if to wave away any spying ears.

Beatrice stares at her for a moment then softens; laughs. "you're ridiculous."

"and you haven't denied it," Ava says pointedly. "but nah, you're probably the red herring character, like you're helping the victim's family by doing something not exactly totally legal but you give the investigators a really important clue that helps them find the asshole murderer, so technically you're a hero in the end."

Beatrice sighs, heavy and curling into hoodie, into herself. "I'm nothing of the sort, Ava."

Ava leans into her for just a moment, just close enough to bump shoulders. "yeah you are, Bea. you're a hero to me."

there's disbelief in Beatrice's eyes so Ava keeps her gaze as steady as she can, thinks: i know what you are. thinks: i believe it even if you can't yet.

Beatrice looks away. Ava waits, watches as her fingers play with the hem of her hoodie, listens as she takes a deep breath, feels something shift when Beatrice meets her gaze once more. "you know I -" a flash of white as teeth sink momentarily into her bottom lip; Ava again tries not to swoon - "I don't think I'm familiar with those shows," Beatrice says.

it's hesitant and indirect but Ava knows an offer, recognizes a heroic effort when she sees it. "do you wanna watch some episodes together?"

"you don't have to go back to work?" Beatrice asks but Ava is already typing out a message on her phone.

"nope. and Cam just said I'm good to take the rest of the day so I'm all yours." Ava pockets her phone just as she realizes her word choice; decides to just lean into it and waggles her eyebrows for good measure.

she's rewarded with another laugh and the faintest pink across Beatrice's cheeks. Beatrice looks away again, looks back and smiles. "thank you, Ava."

and because she can't help herself, and because she wants Beatrice to know she means it, Ava reaches out to take her hand. "anytime, Bea."

This is probably a strange question since KH is already a crossover in and of itself, but... KH-Crossovers you'd love? XD Not limited to Disney or any medium in particular btw :)

Hmm... Off the top of my head? Things that I love, because I’m selfish like that. Haha. Something like Inception comes to mind (and I’ve actually written a KH and Inception crossover. Though it would never entirely work out, but shh). But they lend themselves well to each other. Mainly because DDD was clearly inspired by Inception. What?

The Mortal Instruments, Percy Jackson, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as I think all three of them would mesh well with KH. Also, Dark Angel (and a lot of Fox shows, like Dark Angel and Tru Calling), because again with the selfishness. Also, Fox movies. More on some of that later.

Edit: ABC shows, like Alias and LOST, as they’re mystery box stories like KH.

W.I.T.C.H. Gargoyles too, though I barely remember it.

Kilala Princess, probably. And perhaps Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey (at least the villain from it would be great for KH).

I know there are some companies out there who have adapted fairytales that Disney already has. And it would be cool to see their take on them in KH. In my Namiku multi-chapter story--that I’ll sadly never finish--this was going to be a thing. There was something wrong with Kingdom Hearts, so the characters would go to a world and be like, “Wait... I know this is supposed to be Cinderella’s world, but something is off about it.” But that could also work with things like Once Upon a Time and the new Disney live-action movies.

That being said: Once Upon a Time.

National Treasure... that could actually potentially be in KH (as a few on these list could be), but I doubt it ever will be. So I might as well include it. Enchanted, too.

Phantom of the Opera or Phantom of the Megaplex. Preferably the former.

Some DCOMS Pixel Perfect and Disney Channel shows, tbh. Kim Possible!

I think people, like Shire Folk, who have written the characters with Digimon are on point.

Things like Soul Eater... and probably other animes, Square Enix made or not.

Syfy Alice, because it’s my favorite version of Alice in Wonderland.

Pokémon. Because I think Ash and Sora have a lot in common, of course (perhaps also Misty and Kairi, and somewhat SoKai and Pokeshipping). And because, as weird as it is to say... in the first game, where they made a big deal about the Keyblade choosing its master and choosing Sora (and it was very much sentient), the bond that Sora made with his Keyblade (that eventually chose him over Riku) somewhat reminded me of Ash and Pikachu’s journey. To a lesser extent, of course. But still.

Square Enix worlds...

I don’t think I want a “Beauty and the Beast & the Enchanted Christmas” world per se, but I want a Forte boss fight, somehow and some way.

Winx Club.

A crossover with Clamp could be interesting. Especially since Tsubasa and KH are so similar.

I’m down for the Muppets and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to be cameos.

It would never happen in a million years, for so many reasons, but A Song of Ice and Fire could be interesting. They’re both fantasy theories that keep you guessing, with a lot of theory crafting in both.

People have often theorized what KH would be like if it had been Nickelodeon or something. LOL People say “Spongebob would have taken on Mickey’s role”, and I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing what could be done with a Nickeloden crossover, a Cartoon Network one, or what have you.

Grimm’s Fairytales, maybe? Or even the show Grimm? -shrugs-

I could maybe give the Star Wars, Marvel, and Indiana Jones ideas a try...

Tenchi could be interesting... The sword from that/Master Key reminds me of the Keyblade, somewhat.

I also wouldn’t say no to DC. I once wrote a Smallville and KH crossover once, but that was wish-fulfillment. I don’t know how much it would actually work. Haha.

I’m also someone who thinks a High School Musical could work, and would like to see it. XD. I once wrote a KHxHSM crossover, and at least one reviewer seemed to think I handled it pretty well. So it can be done, imo. .

..Maybe even things like Boy Meets World, even though it shouldn’t work. But ever since the fandom joked that Jason Marsden will be announced for KH, and then the fandom will war over whether he’s voicing Max Goof, Noel Kreiss, or Kovu, and I added on that, “You guys are forgetting Eric’s friend on Boy Meets World. Don’t forget that Boy Meets World is Disney owned”, I’ve weirdly been thinking of Boy Meets World in KH. Mostly as a joke. But meh.

Perhaps “I am Number Four”...

Oh! Harry Potter! Duh! People have been doing that for years, and it works.

People have also written Fullmetal Alchemist/KH crossovers, I think. And I haven’t seen FMAB yet (for shame, I know. It’s been on my list for ages, and hopefully I’ll get to it soon), from what I know of it, I love the idea.

The Kingdom Keepers series would probably be good for KH, even though I haven’t read it yet. Descendants?

I think that exploring what went wrong with Jerry, Kelbo, and Megan’s relationship could be a good warning for Sora, Riku, and Kairi, perhaps. And there are other things you could, too. To a lesser extent: Phil of the Future and That’s So Raven. Again, they probably wouldn’t work as worlds (maybe cameos). But I think there are interesting things there the games could use. Like, “Oh, you can time travel, Xehanorts? Well, let me hop in my friends’ the Diffy’s time machine and beat you at your own game.” Or, “You can see the future Master of Masters, so can my friend Raven.”

Tropes: Enemies-to-lovers is my most favourite trope ever, period. Paradoxically, I have written more for co-workers-to-lovers, lol.  So yeah, that’s my favourite trope, as well. Generally, I like to explore the multiple ways two characters that aren’t together but are drawn together can get together. I’m not much of a ‘committed relationship’ type of writer and so I usually cut my fics at the point when they make a finally couple.  

Number of fics: Thirteen published. Two more in works, so fifteen in total.

Fic I spent the most time on: Well, well... Christmas Meeting (NCIS, TIVA) It’s almost FIVE years since I have started to write it. FIVE YEARS. I have changed my job twice since then, lol. But it required a lot of research and all because it’s basically my baby. :D

Fic I spent the least time on: Ben Solo Lives (Star Wars, Reylo) When you return from cinema and you are absolutely heartbroken, what do you do as a writer? Sit down and write a better ending although it’s not the peak of what you are capable of. Needed like an hour for that.

Longest Fic: Christmas Meeting. If you write story for freaking five years, then it’s gonna show, right? 368,073 words. 41 chapters.

Shortest Fic: I somehow managed to write a drabble (I mean how?), Another Chance for Balance (Star Wars, Reylo) has 1,789 words.

Most hits/kudos/comment threads/bookmarks: Since I am relatively recently (like not even a month) on AO3 and I’m just reposting old fics there, gotta go with views and reviews on Fanfiction.net. As of 21st April, 2020, it’s 256,444 views on Kissing Deal (NCIS, TIVA) and 609 reviews on Christmas Meeting.

Total word count: I am a couple of words from a million – 958,418 words. You can bet those remaining 52,000 words or so are in my works I haven’t published yet (last three chapters of Christmas Meeting, Sleeping Buddies and Waterfall Bath)

Favorite fic I wrote: Christmas Meeting, of course. It takes places in my hometown and the city I live in so there is a huge part of myself in it. I don’t know if the readers realize that or not but for me, it has a strong personal significance. I have also projected a lot of my own experiences into the story.

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: Definitely not rewrite. I am a supporter of writer’s development and only looking back to what I wrote helps me to realize how much I evolved as a writer and then can happen only if the story I wrote a couple of years ago stays the way it is. Expand? Maybe... My one shot There’s Still Time To Change Your Mind (NCIS, TIVA). Like I said before, I purposefully end the stories at certain point so I don’t wish to expand them in any other way because I know I am not good at writing family life and all that.

Share a bit of a WIP or a story idea you’re planning on: I would share a WIP from Christmas Meeting but I don’t think it can surprise anyone and what I have in plan for the next chapter for publishing, I want to keep a secret.

So, here’s a WIP of my upcoming rewrite of The Rise of Skywalker, Reylo edition, called ‘Waterfall Bath’ which is working title at the moment. It started off as a one-shot idea but soon evolved in my head into a full fix-Episode IX-it fic and so I am taking the opportunity to do just that. Reylos might find a familiar sentence in this WIP – I took the liberty of taking things from the movie I actually liked and decided to use them in my story, sometimes in completely reversed fashion. Guess you have to wait until I make progress enough in writing to start publishing it.

“Let go of me.” She asked him out of instinct, her plea hollow and false as her body pressed to him when he ran his hand down her back.

It was either ignorance or inattention but he didn’t react to her words as if he didn’t hear them. Instead, he looked down on his chest and slowly reached for her hand over his heart. Pensively, he took it into his, measuring them and marvelling at the coincidence that his large hand could fully envelope hers and she watched him doing it, mesmerized by his actions.

“I offered you my hand once. You wanted to take it.” He said distantly as she turned her palm in his hand and they touched, lacing their fingers firmly in an intimate gesture. Then he looked at her and his voice broke. “Why didn’t you?”

“Wha-...” She let out in surprise, her eyes widening with shock as her chest tightened with burning anxiety.

She couldn’t believe that after all those months full of Force bond connections during which they had talked, yelled, fought with each other and alongside each other, stared at one another endlessly and provided so much comfort, he would choose this particular moment to touch upon the topic they had avoided for so long. What had happened in the throne room was a taboo neither of them had wanted to revisit.

“Are you kidding me? Why are you pulling this out right now?” She questioned him apprehensively, suddenly squirming in his embrace as she wished to flee away from this conversation and his pressing, urgent gaze.

His bottom lip trembled with a silent, desperate plea on his tongue. “Just tell me. I offered you everything I could think of... a new, peaceful order for the galaxy and you, becoming something meaningful no matter what your past is, no matter what my past is.” He said as he released her hand and buried his fingers into her hair, untangling the wet strands from each other.

“I...” She failed to find the right words because what she wanted to communicate was too complicated for verbal expressions. She could easily get lost on the way and if he really did want to know the answer, it was better to convey those feeling to him in a different way.

Opening the Force bond would definitely help because he would have the chance to sense her thoughts and read through them if she let him. Her eyes closed once again as she focused on the pervasive power everywhere around her, trying to tear down the walls he had constructed. She felt him to join her in the effort but despite the fact that it was a connection between the two of them, neither seemed to inflict a single crack.

What are some of your favorite books/films/shows/games/etc.? BOOKS: Gosh... I feel like i say this all the time, but The Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. I’ve also been on this kick of wanting to read some of my old favorites. Tamora Pierce was my childhood and the Song of the Lioness quartet was life. FILMS: Ummm... One of my all time favorites is Gidget. Then there’s... I’m blank. I love watching movies, but so often now a days, they’re mostly playing as background noise. SHOWS: I don’t really have any. It’s the same as movies. I watch them more as background noise. So currently, I’m watching NCIS. GAMES: I’m pretty boring. I play Sim and World of Warcraft. That’s it.

Play any instruments? I use to play the clarinet. Back in middle school. I was decent. I didn’t really want to continue it into high school though. At one point, I could play simple sound on a keyboard. 

Language(s): Just English, though I’ll be the first to say that I struggle with it. 🙈 I took French in middle school and high school, all part of that requirement. I remember the basic of basics from it.

My ex-boyfriend, Daniel. And that was years ago. I don’t do a lot of hand holding now a days.

Not everyone. Some people have committed too many horrible acts to be given a second chance.

Yes, but not all the time.

That’s a good question. I don’t really know because honestly, I would stay in bed all day if I could.

Random Thoughts

Hi everyone!

So I haven’t written a blog for quite a long time but I had some random things on my mind recently and wanted to put them into writing so here you go. My random thoughts lately have revolved around Chicago Fire although, to be honest, my overall thoughts have actually been on all over the place and have included the gymnastics scandal, work woes, life decisions, and planning for my next travel adventures, but as far as TV shows go....it’s been CF on my mind quite a bit. Instead of dragging things out too much (though this will be long), I’m going to just start a bullet list of all the things running through my head regarding the show and hopefully this blog makes some sort of sense, LOL ;)

Disclaimer: I absolutely understand that not everyone feels the way I feel or sees things the same way that I do regarding the show. This is simply a blog allowing me to share some of the thoughts that have been rolling around in my head for the last few weeks. Please know that I’m not telling any of you how to feel and I won’t be offended if you disagree with me about anything. Thanks! =)

Before I bullet point the heck out of this blog, here’s the reason I’ve had Chicago Fire on my mind recently: there seems to be a TON of negativity out there, more than I have ever seen, about the show. On the one hand, I guess it’s good that people care because when you stop caring about a show, that’s the first sign that you should probably stop watching, but on the other hand, why are people so angry?! It’s really startling to me how angry and frustrated some folks have been lately because seriously guys, it’s only a TV show. As frustrated as I know I can get about my shows (I’m pretty passionate about my TV choices), it takes a lot to get me to spend too much of my time complaining about them online or even to stop watching them all together. Lately I feel like some folks have endless amounts of time to complain and honestly it’s ruining my fun of reading all the social media stuff from the show’s accounts. Who wants to read a bunch of whining when you’re just trying to look at the social media activity?! It made me curious about some things and after some research and sleuthing online, I’ve come to some conclusions about how things seem to be right now. Here come the bullet points! =)

#1. FYI - Not Everyone Hates the Show

So I did a poll on Twitter last week just because I was curious about this and here are the results:

Apparently on Twitter, at least with people who follow me there, they’re not as angry about things as fans seem to be on other websites. I don’t see as much negativity or anger on Twitter (at least from the many people who I follow or who follow me) and this poll tells me that folks are mostly enjoying S6. It should be noted that I choose not to follow certain people on Twitter because I don’t need all that negativity in my life but I am followed by others who are always quick to share with me when they like or hate things (especially during a live tweet of the show). Twitter seems to be mostly positive but in my research, I did notice that most of the negativity seems to be on Facebook (where people seem angry in general about a lot of things but that’s a whole other blog, LOL). Why are people so unhappy on Facebook? I have no idea. Its disturbing and honestly, that anger and hatred doesn’t seem limited to CF (I see it on other accounts as well which is why I stopped reading most of the story comments on FB the last few months). It also seems like the FB community is filled with one group of people right now....the Gabby haters. Seriously, so many of the same people are griping about her in ALL of their replies to any CF posts and I don’t know that I will ever understand their anger over her. She’s definitely strong willed and doesn’t always think before she acts but the woman has a heart of gold, adores her husband more than she can even say, and would do anything for her friends and family. She is also NOT receiving the majority of screen time this year (I really want to do an experiement and figure out how much screen time each character has had in S6 because I don’t think it would be that extreme for any of the characters this year....I think it’s been pretty balanced overall) and contrary to their belief, she’s also not involved in every story. I feel like one, their anger comes from things they hated in previous seasons and they’re not really watching what’s happening now or two, they just can’t get over how they’ve always felt about her and see things completely wrong. Strong women are almost NEVER liked on a TV show so it doesn’t shock me that some folks can’t stand her but OMG, with all the stuff going on lately about women needing to stand up for themselves more and not be run over by controlling men, aren’t Gabby, Sylvie, and Stella a breath of fresh air?! They are the epitome of strong women and I respect the heck out of how they are shown on CF. I don’t think I’ll ever understand the mentality of people on FB lately but this brings me to another thing that I’ve noticed about the fandom lately...

#2. Cliques are Running Rampant

Yup, we have officially gone back to high school and cliques have taken over the internet. I’ve all ready mentioned the “I Hate Gabby” clique that seems to have formed over on FB (which has run off all the other fans IMO) but a few other websites have some cliques too. Any time that TV Line posts a CF story or preview, there’s almost always people who show up to slam the show for some reason. It’s like they’re waiting for something to be shared so they can post something negative. It makes me wonder if some of these folks get paid per negative comment....they must be millionaires by now, LOL ;) SpoilerTV also has a very negative clique of people who seem to be disgruntled with the writing in general lately and spam the comment sections with all sorts of things. I don’t know that they’ve had anything nice to say about this entire season (to be fair...I got annoyed reading all the negativity so I only stay there long enough to read the PRs, check out the promo pics, and watch the sneak peeks, and then I get out of there so maybe things are better) but that seems like a small clique of people too. EW also has a few people who’s blatant negativity has run other fans off and IMO, a few of these people are actually the same people who apparently want to spread negativity onto every CF article. There are also some cliques on Twitter but those seem to be split into several factions, none of which seem to be to be angry or negative about the show. There’s the Dawsey lovers (my favorites!), the Sevasey lovers, the show in general lovers, the young groupies who are all about shipping, the foreign folks who watch at random hours, and quite a few others but IMO, Twitter folks seem to be much more chill than on any of the other websites. I will absolutely admit that I mainly stick to Twitter now because FB, SpoilerTV, et. al drive me absolutely bonkers. It’s a TV show, not life or death, so the anger and hostility is just way too much for me. The things that people get angry over can make me shake my head as well which brings me to point #3....

#3.  The Show Does NOT Produce the Promos or the Press Releases

I have seen people get so salty over a press release or a promo for the show this year and they all seem to forget one big thing.....those are NOT produced by the people who work on the show. Those all come from NBC. The network’s job is to get you to watch so they have this whole marketing department coming up with the press releases and figuring out the promos that they’re going to use for the show and probably 90% of the time, the actual show is completely different from what they show in those publicity spots. I learned very early on to not take the press releases too seriously....they’re literally just to give you a tease of the stories you’re gonna see on each episode and they rarely give you the whole picture. If anything the actual ep is way more fleshed out and barely relatable to whatever they’ve released in the PR. The promos are the same way. Half the time the promo is only focused on one story from the ep and that story may or may not be the actual big story; it’s just the big thing that NBC thinks will get people to watch. They’re simply trying to get your attention and if the promo pisses you off that much, then maybe they did their job because hey, it did get an emotional response from you, LOL ;) I find it a waste of time to get too emotional one way or the other about the stuff that comes from NBC and I really wish others felt the same way. How about we wait until we actually see the episodes before you start getting all riled up?! Talking about the network brings me to my next bullet point....

#4: The Ratings Whining - CF is Actually Doing Just Fine

Another thing I’ve seen lately is the whining about the ratings. “CF is gonna get cancelled!” “I can’t believe they’ve fallen so far!” “OMG, things are so horrible.” These are all variations of comments I’ve seen over this season and I feel like screaming at everyone, CHILL OUT. Chicago Fire moved to a new night for the first time in five years. Obviously when you move a show that had a comfortable stranglehold on one night to a completely different night, there’s going to be some rating fluctuations but IMO, and I’m one who stalks the ratings every week, CF is actually holding its own right now. They moved it to one of the toughest nights on TV (and they not only lost their cushy lead in, they were off the air for half the fall too due to football) but their overall household ratings are still right around where they’ve always been (6+ million viewers). The demo has been a little lower but IMO, they’re not too far off from where they used to be on Tuesday nights when you look at how the other shows have also fluctuated in the demo (remember when NCIS ruled Tuesday nights?! They’ve also fallen way lower this year and they didn’t move nights either). Demos overall are not as high as they used to be (This Is Us, Good Doctor, and football aside...) so I think CF is hanging in there pretty well and has actually won the 10 PM on Thursday slot quite a few times (don’t forget the DVR +3 and +7 ratings which are actually up for CF this season). I don’t know that NBC will keep CF on Thursday nights next season, and I think when Scandal moves to 10 PM in March (I think that’s when it moves....), that it may cut into the CF ratings a bit since Scandal is ending this year, but I really don’t think was NBC trying to kill the show by moving it. They had to put something on Thursdays at 10 PM knowing that football and the Olympics were going to cut into their overall schedule, and as annoying as the football break was for us, IMO knowing early on that they were going to have specific breaks in their schedule has allowed CF to create stories to fit those time frames and not drag stories out for too many weeks. That part of it has worked for me. I honestly think NBC might try a short term show in that Thursday at 10 PM slot that they can run up to the football break, end it completely, and then bring another show back midseason when football is over (please don’t let it be CF so that we don’t have to wait until January for our show to come back....). BTW-This schedule is also going to allow us to have a TON of weeks in the spring of uninterrupted new episodes which I think will make up for the fact that the show was off the air for so long in the fall. Long story short....ratings are all right for CF and I think NBC is probably happy that CF has held it’s own on a new night. OK, last bullet point coming up...

#5: Shipping Arguments - WTH is This Coming From?!

Is it just me or have wars about the shipping of the various couples on the show gotten out of hand this season?! I love Dawsey with everything I have (they’re literally my only ship left after a bunch of other ones literally died on me) but I also enjoy Brettonio, Stellaride, the Herrmanns, and Otis and Lily, as well as other ships in the One Chicago universe such as Burzek. When did people start getting salty over shipping with these shows? Even back in the days of Millson vs. Dawsey or when Hallie was still around and bothering Dawsey fans, I don’t remember things being so hostile between some of the fans. It probably doesn’t help that NBC ran that stupid “Best One Chicago Ship” poll that was clearly set up to be a promotional thing for Brettonio (you will never convince me that Dawsey didn’t win that poll...) but overall, it seems like fans are letting their passions get the best of them and its making things way more tense in the fandom as a whole. Good gracious, ship whoever you want (I am very well aware of the fact that Dawsey isn’t liked by everyone) but you don’t need to tear other fans down because they don’t agree with your own views. When did this become such a big thing? It makes me sad because I’ve seen shipping stuff ruin fandoms of other shows (Once Upon a Time and most of the super hero shows come to mind...) and I don’t want to see that happen to the One Chicago fandom too. Can’t we all just get along?! =)

OK, now that I’ve ranted about a few things that have bugged me, here’s some thoughts on how I’ve been feeling about the show in general this season, just in case you were wondering about that. I used to do the ChiFiRoundTables every week but I stopped doing them this season and I realize now that I miss being able to share my thoughts on the show. I don’t regret not doing the round tables (OMG, I am SO busy that I have no idea when I would have fit that in, LOL) but I’m excited to share some of my thoughts about S6. Bear with me because this won’t be bullet pointed so it may be the world’s longest paragraph, LOL ;)

First up, the biggest thing I ask myself when I watch any TV show is this question: Am I still being entertained by this show? The other thing I ask myself is if I’m still invested in the characters. I’ll admit that I’ve mostly stopped watching TGIT because the characters have become so unbearable to me (its mostly Murder and Scandal....I’ve heard Grey’s has been better this year but I’m never home on Thursdays at that time so maybe I’ll binge it this summer to catch up if it stays good. BTW-I actually have kept up with Scandal but only because I know it’s ending this year and I need to know how it all wraps up) so I will not hesitate to drop a show if its not entertaining me anymore. So that being said, I am still highly invested in the CF stories and the characters are still people that I love spending an hour of my time with every week. Yeah, sometimes a story feels like a retread of a previous story and sometimes a character does something that makes me roll my eyes but overall, I’m still being entertained by CF so I’ve really enjoyed S6. I actually love how Dawsey has been written this season and I feel like they’ve been building things up to possibly allow them to have their own family at some point soon. They’ve gone through some ups and downs but they’ve also handled things pretty well and worked through their issues just like real married people do and that’s refreshing to me. I love how much they love each other and they’ve shown that they would do anything to support the other. I also like that we’ve gotten some good Sevasey moments (I even liked the tension after Casey got his promotion...it makes sense to me that Sev would need time to adjust to his new situation at the house), I love that the Truck guys are still hilarious, I love that Casey got promoted to Captain, I love that Gabby got her own episode to shine and that it showed how much Dawsey loves and supports each other, I actually love the slow burn of Stellaride, I’m not sure how much I liked the Brettonio teases (I did like them last season) but I am rooting for them to figure things out, I also love that we’ve seen how far Sylvie has come since she first came to Chicago (the one good thing we learned from the Hope story...Sylvie is freaking awesome!), I’ve enjoyed most of the rescues although a few of them have grossed me out, I love all the Chief and Casey scenes we’ve gotten and that Casey is learning from his Chief how to be a better leader and how to not let it ruin his relationships with everyone, and I love that each character has had some family stuff come up at certain points so we’ve had a chance to see them interact with their non firehouse family members (hi Leon and Donna). I know some folks have been angry that there’s not enough ‘fire’ in Chicago Fire but I hope people remember that firefighters respond to more than just fire rescues and I think the show has done a good job of showing that this season. We just had a big fire in the last episode and there have been a few others than I can think of from the previous episodes. People seem to want a huge ass fire in every single episode and that’s just not reasonable to do every week. Overall I have really enjoyed CF this season and yes, I have had some issues with a few things but its minor stuff and the overall feel of the show is still enjoyable for me. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way so I felt like I needed to put this out there so other folks know that it’s okay to be happy with the show right now. Its okay to love Chicago Fire this season....I promise! =)

Ooh wow you flatter me!

Muse: How do you like to relax?As long as I’m sitting by myself somewhere without anyone trying to get my attention, I’m fairly relaxed, but ideally I’d be in the little Hobbit-hole I’ve constructed for myself under my dorm bed, reading, writing, or watching something, in pajamas, with my blanket with classic book quotes on it. The basement of the university library is really nice, too, because you’re required to be stone silent down there, and it’s got a bunch of different kinds of seating for different studying needs, and that seating includes small couches with three walls, so you can pull a small desk in front of yourself and only have distractions in front of you, or you can pull two of the pods together and have a lovely nap (which is not actually that uncommon).

Spark: Favorite film?I’m really bad at picking favorites, so if I’m not careful, I’m just going to list my entire movie library… I usually default to The Princess Bride or Dead Poets Society though, and DPS is a particular favorite at the moment.

Roses: What fictional universe would you like to live in?D e c i s i o n sIf we’re talking living during the events of the book/movie/what have you and being involved in them, then probably Lord of the Rings, just because I’d trust the Fellowship with my dang life and I’m already basically a Hobbit anyway. Or maybe Stardust, because I just really love that movie and being a sky pirate would be fun as hell and also Charlie CoxIf we’re talking living day-to-day, not interacting with any of the characters, but living in the universe, then probably Harry Potter, post-Second-Wizarding-War, just because magic.If we’re talking in between, interacting with the characters and going on adventures of your own, rather than the plot of the book/movie/what have you, then probably CotIG, because it’s got an enormous cast of interesting characters, and I love them all, and good Lord, what I wouldn’t give to live in Tamerlane House for even a day.I’ve thought about this too much

Castle: Favorite fictional character?D E C I S I O N SThere are a whole ton of characters whom I adore, and there’s no way I’m choosing a most favorite from all of them, but a good default answer would be Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley, and Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Say what you will about HP and JKR, and chances are I’ll agree, but I’ll never be able to ditch Harry Potter, because it was a hugely formative part of my childhood (seriously, one of my favorite memories is a few months after Deathly Hallows was published–a family tradition from the time I discovered HP in second grade was for my mom to read the books out loud to the whole family a chapter or two at a time–we had just reached the Battle of Hogwarts, it was a Friday night, and my brother and I were about to go to bed, but we wanted to know what happened next, so Mom made us a deal: we would get ready for bed and she would sit out in the hall with Dad and read while we got ready (our rooms and the bathroom we used were all within 20 feet of each other and it was a narrow hallway). So that was what we did, and when we were both ready for bed, we sat down next to Mom and Dad while Mom finished the chapter, and then she kept going, and we didn’t complain because hey we got to find out what happened next and we got to stay up late, and that was how we finished the series–sitting on the floor of the hallway, all four of us, in our pajamas, and Mom said, “The scar hadn’t pained him in 19 years. All was well.” and closed the book and we just sat there with the best Post-Book Bittersweetness I’ve ever experienced). And I’m pretty Hermione-ish now, but when I was a little kid, I was basically a carbon copy of Young Hermione (personality-wise), and I dressed as Hermione for Halloween for four years in a row, and she’s been my favorite character for a long time. As I grew up and got used to the fact that you don’t have to have just one favorite anything, my Favorite Character roster expanded exponentially, and I grew to love Ginny and Luna as much as I love Hermione, because they’re all badasses in their own ways and they each have valuable lessons that they taught little Elementary-School Me, that I carry with me to this day, and I swear I will listen to any critiques you may have about JKR’s writing, but these characters are way too near and dear to my heart for me to eschew HP altogether.(And yes I realize I could have answered this question with “prolly Hermione lol” and done the trick but that’s not how I function)

Swan Lake: Do you like poems? My choir in high school also sang a song with the text from “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost, and the song was freaking gorgeous, so that poem’s close to my heart too.

Candlelight: Coffee or tea?Honestly, probably neither. I’d love to like both of them, but no matter how much cream and sugar I put in them, I can’t get past the bitterness. I do like the occasional chai latte, though (they’re like liquefied snickerdoodles!), so both and neither at the same time, I guess.

Princess: Favorite TV show at the moment?I don’t watch TV that much; I don’t have the time to commit to whole seasons of things… I’m not even remotely caught up, but I enjoyed the few episodes I watched of A Series of Unfortunate Events. I also binged the first 10-11 episodes of Switched at Birth the other day, but I’m really only watching it for the ASL. I don’t really like any of the characters, except Daphne and Melody and probably Regina. I want to like Emmett, I really do, but boy needs to get his romantic feelings under control; he can’t keep ping-ponging between Daphne and Bay. That’s gonna end really poorly.EDIT: Can’t believe I forgot these–The West Wing and NCIS are staples in my life. NCIS is just loads of fun, and I love the characters, and I could rant for days about how damn GOOD The West Wing is. It was written by Aaron Sorkin, who’s one of my favorite playwrights (he wrote A Few Good Men, the play the movie’s based on), and it’s just written so damn well. I don’t typically give a shit about the inner workings of the government, but The West Wing makes me give many shits. Many of them. All the characters are intellectual badasses, and I love them all so much.

Dwarf: Do you enjoy horror films?I’ve never seen any, because I’m only a few years out of spending 95% of my time with my family, and my mom hates horror films with a passion, so we never watched any. I don’t have an interest in that many of them, either, ‘cause I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat (barely made it through Chapter One of Bendy and the Ink Machine; quit five minutes into FNAF 1), but I really wanna watch A Quiet Place, primarily because ASL and partially because my horror-movie-aficionado friends say the atmosphere was like nothing they’ve ever experienced.
