hi! ive listened to some of chonny jash's songs but did not realize that there was really a story? Or i vaguely knew but didn't have the time/energy to get into it and with the release of the bidding animation ive realized theres like a bajillion awesome animations and art and i want to get into cccc but have no clue how. also why does soul have a trident.
OH man!
The story of CCCC has an overall seeming narrative, but much of it's smaller points are interpretive due to Jash himself leaving it up to fans of the album. But! Overall it kind of goes like:
-Jash or, what most people call Whole, splits as due to mental dissonance and waning mental health. (Time Machine Reprise).
- Whole fades into Soul (End of TMR into Dream) and from there its Mucka Blucka as a sort of introductory song. The recap for a story you have or haven't heard yet.
- (The entire album is a time loop! Which is a big metaphor for the cycles of mental health and illness people go through.)
- From there its the section called "Cacophony" which starts off with Soul, but eventually it turns to Heart and Mind + their fighting and inability to see or listen to one another or their points of view. Of course, as Logic and Emotion, they both have valid ideas or opinions, but believe themselves so contradictory that the other must be evil or out to get them.
- Heart attempts to shoot Mind, as referred to in Ruler of Everything. Literal or Metaphorical as you take this, it is seemingly symbolic for an attempt at one's own life if not self sabotage. If not then both.
- The rest up until Soul Eclectic is sort of just the Mind and Heart fighting and their own personal views each on the situation.
- Soul in The Soul Eclectic reaches his breaking point. Threatening to kill them all (A more direct attempt at suicide)
- Mind and Heart in the subsequent songs decide to get their shit together.
- (Two Wuv) Soul realizes that not only can they be happier now but that trying to force themselves to conform to society's ideas of mental health or belief or love is just plainly unbeneficial. Sort of a song about unapologetically being yourself.
- Welcome To Tally Hall is a tribute to Tally Hall themselves more than anything.
- This transfers into Concord soon after! Concord is Whole or Jash by himself, though many of the songs seem to carry themes from Cacophony in them. Self sabotage, disagreement, importance placed on the wrong thing, the idea that no one person is better off than another. It concludes with Taken for a Ride. Which is also sort of CJ's epic "im burnt out as hell" song towards the end. But exaggerated to my knowledge for lyrical shenanigans.
That is CCCC as neutrally told as best as possible. I highly recommend forming your own ideas on it, but I'd be happy to also discuss more in depth my opinion on each song should you or anyone else express interest!
Getting into the Trident: The fandom took the metaphor of "Tridential Sovreignty" and "This trident he formed (found? Lyrics.) is both weapon and motive" and said "Soul's got a trident" to which Jash responded with "Absolutely yes he does now" Same with the crown most people put Mind in, and that is referenced in the "Trident, Crown and Blindfold" line.
Soul really did get noose imagery, a trident and a mask. All Heart n Mind got were a blindfold and crown. Lmao
Though Heart is also commonly drawn with wings. Which is semi-canonical according to album covers. I choose to ignore them because I don't particularly have an attachment to the idea!
Getting into the fandom itself, I can recommend looking around for the Chonny Jash Fan Server (CJFS) Discord link. But it can be extremely intimidating and even I just stick to discussion and one other thread channel. (Sides from my au channels which pop up every once a month or so).
Important note is that only Tally Hall covers have to do with HMS. Any of Jash's other music (of which I highly recommend, always) is unrelated. There is also a fan QnA somewhere that was done like a year ago now which has some neat answers in it.
I, again, am happy to go into my interpretations of HMS and the music as a whole but skdmsm saved you the reading hopefully should that be undesired!
#chonnys charming chaos compendium#asks#voidthoughts#i def reccomend looking at analysis of the album too! calamarispider has good ones but idrm if kai ever put them here or if it kept them on#twitter only#i have my own but its been taking me too long so lol maybe people asking would help motivate me OSNFJSNS

Has Chonny Jash been mentioned for song recs? Because his cover of Two Wuv is VERY plural-coded ngl. Warning for religious imagery and a suicide mention if anyone plans on listening to it tho.
yep, got a bunch of his songs on the playlist including that

The ending of the Chonny Jash Two Wuv cover my beloved just mmmmm
"I'm an egoistic queer under any definition of the word, but I think, for the first time in my life that these oddities that bonded me aren't worth the fucking strife. Soooooo call me insane or crazy if that's what you prefer but that rotten melody is one I've already heard and you can stick THAT SHIT where it can't be harmonized. I refuse to be the person that my parents eulogize. Call me sick or crazy. call me what you'd like. fog so thick and hazy, calls for holy light"
I love it very much

Hello can you tell me about your blorbos please. I am confused about the little emo... angel? nonbinaries? I have gathered that they are possibly related to some sort of plural Johnny Cash related something? The art is neat but I do not recognize the blorbos from your... something
OKAY SO the blorbos are these characters from the album "Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium, Vol. 1" (often shortened to CCCC) by Chonny Jash (no actual relation to Johnny Cash), which is an album covering Tally Hall & related songs. You can find it here on his YouTube channel.
The main thing is that the songs tell the overall story of Whole (Or Harmonia, or just Chonny Jash but as a character), Heart (the little emo angel), Mind, and Soul.
Heart is the "emotional side", Mind is the "logical side", and it's unclear exactly what Soul is, but it seems to be, well, the Soul. Everything that's left over after the emotional side and the logical side are split off. Whole is what the three make up when they are not split down into three people.
this got kinda long (I like the album a lot and also have a tendency to ramble) so ill put the rest under a read more with a TL;DR at the bottom of the whole thing.
Many of the smaller points are left up for interpretation, so there are a lot of different ways that people portray the characters. Many people come up with their own interpretations of what happened, and it is encouraged to do so! Have fun with it, come up with your own ideas about what happens, etc. Besides smaller things, there is an overall narrative throughout the album.
There are three sections of CCCC. Calamity (which we do not see much of, as it consists of only two songs, that being "Time Machine Reprise" and "Dream"), Cacophony (Most of the album), and Concord.
In Calamity, we see Whole splitting down into Heart, Mind, and Soul due to general mental health issues and dissonance within himself, and Heart, Mind, and Soul beginning to come to being in the wake of this.
Cacophony starts off with "Mucka Blucka (Intro to Cacophony)" which introduces the story and the general issues that the characters have with each other.
It (among other songs) also lets us know that the album is a timeloop. Whole keeps splitting down into three people (Heart, Mind, and Soul), and Heart, Mind, and Soul keep getting back to being Whole again, and then Whole splits down again and the cycle repeats itself.
Throughout Cacophony, Heart and Mind are constantly fighting due to an inability to see each other's point of view or compromise with each other. At some point, as referenced in "Ruler of Everything", Heart attempts to shoot Mind (whether this is literal or metaphorical is left up to interpretation), which A) appears to be symbolic of self-destruction, or an a suicide attempt and B) only makes the fighting worse.
After Ruler of Everything, we get three songs each from the perspective of Heart and Mind, essentially fighting and laying out their point of views on the situation.
After these songs, Heart and Mind's fighting eventually culminates in "The Soul Eclectic." This song shows Soul finally stepping in and threatening to kill all of them if Heart and Mind are unable to resolve their issues with each other.
(Note: The Mind Electric covers have a music video consisting of all three songs here)
The next two songs ("The Bidding" and "Light", which also has a two-part music video here) just show Heart and Mind's attempts to go through with settling their differences while Soul's threat hangs over their heads. They are able to talk out their problems and come to an understanding of each other, and the next three songs are just very triumphant songs celebrating this.
"Two Wuv" specifically shows Soul accepting who all of them are and realizing that they don't have to force themselves to comply to societies, or religions' views of mental health, belief, or identity.
This leads into Concord, which are basically just general songs from Whole's perspective. There are a lot of themes of mental health issues throughout Concord as well, though, such as self-sabotage, mental dissonance, perfectionism, fear, worry of not being good enough, etc.
By the end of Concord, dissonance has fully crept in and they have begun the process of splitting down into three again, which leads back to the start of the album.
Notes:
- Mind is often represented by white backgrounds, [square brackets], and a deep, sort of mechanical voice. Heart is often represented by black backgrounds, (parentheses), and a normal voice. Soul is often represented by grey backgrounds, {squiggly brackets}, and a heavily autotuned voice. Also, Mind has blue lipstick, Heart has purple, and Soul has red.
- Heart is commonly drawn with wings in the fandom (like how I draw him). This is only semi-canonical. The cover for "Instrumental Anarchy" (which just has all of the instrumentals of the CCCC songs) depicts him as having wings.
- In that vein, everyone's personal designs for the characters will vary depending on their own interpretations of them, due to them not having any super concrete designs in canon besides what we see in the music videos. People can get really creative with their designs and interpretations!
TL;DR:
The character that the fandom generally calls "Whole" ends up splitting down into three people (Heart, Mind, and Soul) due to general dissonance and mental health issues. Heart (emotions) and Mind (logic) spend a majority of the album fighting due to their inability to see each other's point of views.
Soul eventually gets tired of the fighting and threatens to kill all of them unless Heart and Mind stop fighting. This forces them to reconcile with each other and talk out their issues in the song "Light". After this they are able to work together and eventually become Whole again. And they do spend a good part of the album being Whole!
However, the album is essentially a time loop. Dissonance ends up creeping in again eventually and splits them down into three. This restarts the time loop and sends them back to this state of fighting until they are able to reconcile again. This cycle of splitting into three, reforming, and then splitting into three again repeats.
I hope this was helpful in explaining the blorbos! It makes me very excited and happy to talk about them.

also the story is psychological fuckery and heart, mind, and soul are fucking bastards

warning for INTENSELY FLASHING LIGHTS in literally all of these.
lot of these songs have mentions of suicide and such. so that too.

ALSO a lot of these are going to contain themes and mentions of suicide
ALSO if you want to listen to the whole album i recommend you listen to that first instead of these. tho you can do whatever u want i'm not ur mom. i just want to share Funny Songs
youtube
whenever anyone talks abt tally hall they're ofc gonna talk abt the mind electric. but actually there's THREE OF THEM. the heart acoustic, the mind electric, and the soul eclectic. they are all bangers i very much recommend you listen to all of them
youtube
warning for religious themes
two wuv is bangin. like idk anything abt the tally hall version but this one fucking ROCKS. i love it. pov the person you see is a dark, divided man
youtube
literally i can just summarize this one as THE GIRLS ARE FIGHTINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
youtube
this song was literally made from a song that was just fucking chicken noises and im not fucking joking i literally searched it up because i did not believe it either. anyway mucka blucka is actually very very fun. basically just an introduction to the concept of what the hell this album is
anyway listen to chonny jash this has been your pitch propaganda. good sonmg.

two wuv is actually a song but yes it is fandom related lmao
the original, by tally hall, is about the olsen twins... for some fucking reason? our current hyperfixation is on the musician chonny jash and his cover is about like. self love and all so his cover is superior tbh DHDHSJSJDJDJD
anyways! good song, the original is hilarious and the cover is super important to us, I'd recommend listening to both tbh to compare the two
Oh, that's cool. Might listen to it, at some point.
