Okay but so far, "The Elementalists" series, the "Queen B" series, the "America's Most Eligible" series, the "It Lives" series, and "The Royal Romance" series all take place within the same world (and I'm pretty sure almost all of the visual novels in choices take place in the same world but so far these are the ones where there are visible cameos and connections) and that makes it so funny to me because like

Over here a student has started attending magical college and is learning about themself and their past, over here a girl is taking her first steps into developing the personality of, in her own words, "a budding serial killer" after being exposed to the politics of elite college life, over here another person is taking part in the world's messiest reality tv show, and over there a group of high schoolers and college kids are fighting for their lives against eldritch monstrosities they barely even understand and, if you're not careful, are dying in absolutely horrific ways, and over here a random civilian is getting coached on marrying into royalty

Summary: After getting to their hotel room, Derek and Charlie realize they only have one bed and it gets a little awkward.

A/N: This was from an anon ask which had multiple prompts from the "one bed" prompts.

Charlie and Derek were spending a lot of time together between seasons 10 and 11 of America’s Most Eligible. One of the weeks between the two seasons was spent in Paris as a part of Charlie’s prize. 

With Charlie winning season 10, she won the trip to Paris and invited Derek onto the trip with her, as he was the one she was the closest with. Derek was very grateful that Charlie invited him on the trip and was a little surprised but wasn’t going to question it.

Their first day was spent looking around the city, spending time in coffee shops and different clothing stores. Their hotel where they were staying at for the week was not ready for them when they had originally arrived, which wasn’t that much of a problem, but more of an annoyance.

After spending most of the day out in the streets of Paris, both Charlie and Derek were ready to head to bed. They were walking down the street towards their hotel with their bags in hand.

“I can’t wait to lay down in bed.” Charlie said.

“I agree. I need some sleep in a big bed all to myself.”

The pair laughed and checked into their room. They carried their bags up to their room and Derek tried to be smooth with opening the door but couldn’t open it on his first try and had to set his things down to unlock the door, which made Charlie laugh.

“What’s so funny?” Derek asked.

“You. Clearly trying to act cool isn’t your forte.”

Derek playfully scoffs. “Hey, I can be cool. Just not right now.”

Charlie rolls her eyes as Derek unlocks the door and lets her in the room first. When she walks in, she notices the single queen sized bed. She moves out of the way for Derek, who doesn’t pay attention to the beds as he brings their stuff in.

“Did they give us the correct room?” Charlie asked while pointing towards the bed.

Derek looks up and notices the single bed in the middle of the hotel room. He sighs and drops their bags.

“They must have. Unless something happened to our spot.”

“But AME was supposed to be in charge of it. You would think that the hotel shouldn’t have been a problem. And if there was, they should have told us or had a better solution.”

Derek shrugs and brings their bags over to the bed and Charlie pulls out her phone to try and contact the team from America’s Most Eligible. Her call gets sent straight to voicemail. Derek walks over to her and sees her try to call again, which leads to another straight voicemail.

“That’s weird. I know they’ve got things that they’re trying to do with the all star season and a new showrunner but you’d think they would answer a call from their recent winner.” Derek said

“And with both of us returning for the next season, you’d think they would want to stay on our good side.”

Charlie puts her phone away and flops onto the bed. Derek takes his bags and starts to unpack a little. Charlie lifts her head up to look at him.

“How do you have the energy to unpack?”

Derek continues to unpack some of his belongings. “I really don’t but I feel the need to make this feel a little more lived in.”

Charlie lays her head back down. “While there is only one bed, I’ve got to admit it is pretty comfy.”

Derek chuckles and finishes taking out some of his belongings. He then turns to look at Charlie on the bed. He then motions for her to move so he can also lay on the bed.

“This totally doesn’t feel like the movies.” Derek said.

“I think our lives are already like a weird movie. I don’t think this would be a big part of it.”

Derek nods. “True. But if it was, I’m glad that it was with you.”

Charlie looks at him and turns her body towards Derek. The pair stare into each other's eyes. Derek’s hazel orbs staring into Charlie’s blue ones. The two then laugh at each other’s staring. 

“What are we doing?” Derek asked while laughing.

“I don’t know.”

The two continue to laugh for a minute before finally calming down. Derek wraps an arm around Charlie’s shoulder and pulls her closer to him. They look at each other again before they clear their throats and Derek removes his arm.

“Sorry.”

“No. You’re good. Everything’s fine.”

The two lay on the bed in awkward silence for a moment before Charlie gets up and grabs some clothes from her bag.

“I’m gonna go shower.” Charlie says as she points at the bathroom and heads towards it.

“Ok.” 

Once Charlie closes the door to the bathroom, Derek covers his face with his hands and sighs. He removes his hands from his face and sits up. He then goes over to his bag and pulls out some clothes and changes into them.

About an hour later, Charlie and Derek are lying down in bed, facing in opposite directions. Both of them are wide awake and silent.

All the lights in their room are turned off and all that is heard is the sound of the small desk fan on its highest setting. Charlie looks around the room and sighs before turning over towards Derek.

“Are you asleep yet?” Charlie asks.

“No.” 

Derek turns over and the two of them stare into each other’s eyes again. They both look each other up and down before ramming their lips into each other. Kissing each other with intense passion before pulling away to look at each other again and catch their breaths.

“Can we do that again?” Charlie asks.

Derek smiles and pulls her in again and kisses her before pulling up the covers to the bed. Charlie and Derek get intertwined with each other as they continue to makeout through the night.

1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played? 

I started playing in 2019, and my first book was Rules of Engagement.

2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?

I joined the fandom in January 2022. I had taken a break from Choices for a while but went back in November/December 2021 and started trying to look for fanfiction for Open Heart as I wanted to see if there was more Open Heart content, so I turned to Tumblr and AO3 and decided to join.

3- How did you pick your blog name? 

It was the first thing I could think of. I’m not creative with naming things (if anyone remembers my original blog name, it was openheartfanfiction because I only wrote for OH and couldn’t think of anything else). So I was like, “I’m a fan of Aaron Tveit. His fans are called Tveiter Tots, so why not?”  I then added writing because most of the content I make is fanfiction.

4- Pull up the first post in your archive, and tell us about it! 

It was actually a little intro to my account, but I had deleted it a while back so now it’s this. It is not my favorite. I would definitely redo it now that I have had more experience with text fics. 

5- Do you write fanfiction, create fan art, or are you one of those really gifted people who do both? 

While I would love to make fan art, currently, I only write fanfiction.

6- How long have you been creating for Choices and for any other fandoms?

I have been writing/creating Choices content since 2022. But I have been writing for Star Wars and Adam Driver Characters since 2020 (even though I am on hiatus from it, and I don’t know if/when I will pick it back up). I also wrote some Marvel fanfiction with a friend in 2021. More recently, I have started writing stuff for Aaron Tveit and Cillian Murphy characters on my non-Choices blog.

7- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to create for?

Right now, I would say either Red Carpet Diaries or America’s Most Eligible is my favorite. But I also like Open Heart, High School Story, and others. I want to create more for RCD and AME, but I think I like creating content for OH.

8- Share your first Choices fanfic or fan art that you posted with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were creating it today?

Since I already mentioned the text fic, I chose the next fic I did. It was for my Open Heart MC’s (Claire Evans) Birthday. And I would 100 percent go back and rewrite it. I like the idea of what I wrote, but I don’t like its execution, and I need to go back and rewrite it.

9- What is your favorite piece of fiction or art that you created? 

Right now, I have these two favorites. While I like writing angst, I enjoy writing fluffy stuff like these two fics. Plus, it’s my MC and OC who are besties (Claire and Adelaide), so I had to choose one from both of them.

10- Do you have a fic/art that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to do well but found it could use a little more love?

This was a fic that I wasn't expecting to get notes on. I was still very new to the fandom at the time and hadn’t really interacted with anyone at that point, so seeing people like it was a shock.

Something that I wish I could do better is the content I make for my RCD and AME MCs (Brooklyn Moore and Charlie Howard). I love that people like my OH content, but I don’t see many people liking content from those books (which is fine if you don’t like it).

11- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why? 

Fluff. While writing Angst and Smut can be fun, writing fluff is a nice escape from real life.

12 - Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?

Yes, I have put some things from myself into my MCs and OCs, like some personality traits, some physical traits, and some hobbies/things they enjoy. So, I do see myself sometimes, but not always.

13 - What element of writing/art do you struggle with most?

Either coming up with titles or writing bits in between the big parts. Usually, one of the last things I do is come up with a title because I can never think of one. Also, writing the “less important” parts in between the parts I want to write is what gets me sometimes and is why I have unfinished fics that I have abandoned.

14 - Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?

I have some fics that I had done some previews for (last year or the year before) that I would like to finish at some point. Right now, I am trying to finish a Dancing with the Stars AU for Adelaide and Tobias, so that is my writing priority.

15 - If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to see your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you show them first? 

Maybe it depends on who it is. While I don’t think anyone would be too judgemental, I would still be very nervous to show them in fear of them hating it or something like that. I wouldn't show them the smut or some of my earlier fics but the fluff I would.

16 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing or art? Are there any artists that influence you?

Not really. I have liked a lot of people’s work, but I don’t think that it really influences my writing at all though.

17- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series? 

I think my fic “Coming to You” would be fun to see as a movie. Seeing how Ethan and Claire’s relationship grows on screen when they’re in two different worlds would interest me.

19- Do you write original fiction or create non-fandom art? 

I have thought about trying to write an original fiction book, but right now I don’t. I do currently write some original screenplays as I am in college for screenwriting.

20-  What other hobbies do you have?

I like to paint and listen to music. I like to take drives in the morning to get coffee and relax or at night with my dogs. I like to watch movies and musicals (like Moulin Rouge and Six). 

21: BONUS - tell us anything you’d like (if you want to)

Thank you to anyone who has read any of my fics or enjoyed the content I create. It means a lot, and I hope to continue writing content that both you and I can enjoy.

this ame has the same unpredictable wildcard personality as the original ilw ame, but plays the sweetheart persona at least during season 10 when the wildcard persona doesn't actually exist yet. their title in season 10 is the neighborhood idol (thank you to @choicesmc for the idea <3), which piper is absolutely pissed about because "just why couldn't they stick with girl next door? they look like a girl anyway! why do i have to put in so much effort just to accommodate some pretty face no one knows or cares about?", and they change it to the performer in all stars.

their endgame li here is the handsome stranger (face 1/hispanic? sprite, first name jekyll, last name undecided) but they also have feelings for bianca, however i doubt it'll actually get anywhere by the time book 3 comes.

+ might make them some sub style of gal because it fits the ame (book) vibe, but then again their usual style also does

I think a lot about how there's a lot of fun personalities in AME while the LI's felt like the more 'tame' characters. (But I'm also due for a replay so maybe I'm misremembering)

Who do you guys wish/think should've been LI's in AME? (And explain why if you want hehe)

U guys already know I love Teagan lol, I just thought she was really fun and cute. I also think any of the more antagonistic characters could've been fun, especially because the mc could have that villain personality type.

Cadybear's Reviews Brief Thoughts- America's Most Eligible

Welcome to the twelfth official Cadybear's Reviews Brief Thoughts post! Today I'll be talking about America's Most Eligible, which I have ranked on the "Gold Tier" at 8 stars out of a possible 10. My last and only playthrough of this series was back in May-June 2021. I had started another playthrough in July 2023, but it's been put on hiatus.

This one was pretty fun. 

I think it did a pretty good job of getting you into the crazy atmosphere of reality TV shows. Whether you love it or hate it, you gotta admit it’s quite filled with some pretty wild drama. I also loved being able to establish our own confession cam persona for the MC– MCs that give the players agency in their character are always a win for me. 

My only real problem is that besides maybe Jen, the LIs were mostly forgettable and flat in personality. Let me clap Carter’s cheeks instead please!

That and, a lot of the male MC outfits were painfully mid. Like, they seem to really enjoy dressing male MC in basic casual and/or toilet swirl color scheme outfits, even though this is a reality TV show where ideally you’d want to grab people’s attention and make yourself look stylish. I don’t like the outfits that f!MC gets as they’re not my style, but at least I can buy that they’d be impactful on this kind of show. But for m!MC… why do they want him to do a photoshoot in a big winter coat that looks like the same coat worn by PETA’s version of Ghetsis from Pokemon? Why are they saying this is his last chance to “show off his hot bod” and then giving him an outfit with a big coat that looks like an off-brand Doctor Who cosplay? 

I know it’s pretty par for the course for premium outfit setup scenes to be obviously written with f!MC’s outfits in mind, but it’s far more frequent in this series, and far more glaring in this kind of story too because this is a romance-based reality TV show. Ideally, the hardcore dedicated contestants would want to dress in ways that grab people’s attention and make themselves seem more desirable. And I can assure you, no one’s underwear is gonna be flying off at giant peepeepoopoo-colored winter coats. 

Speaking of m!MC writing coded for f!MC, this is kind of an elephant in the room, but I don’t think this series as a whole is quite as “female coded” as people have made it out to be. Granted it has the most gender errors I’ve ever seen in a GOC Choices story, like some of the outfit descriptions or that “he brushes a stray strand of hair from your face” line. But a lot of the other stuff like the shoulder carrying stuff or MC’s sometimes gushy personality or the walking down the aisle stuff, more or less boils down to lazy coding in general rather than lazy coding specifically for a male MC. I mean, that tends to be the case for the majority of the “male MC is female coded” complaints I see, but since this book in particular has gotten a lot of those sorts of complaints, I figured it’s worth bringing up. 

So yeah. Overall this one was pretty fun. Would love to play this again and see the different kinds of outcomes I can have.
