Yuna sat beside him and he was real and human and her equal 

1374w, Rikku pov, Yuna, Braska, worldbuilding. Chocobox treat for Wingsyouburn!

 When they first touched land on Besaid again and felt the warm sand under their feet after the fall, after the losses, after Spira was free, Yuna went missing.

 Lulu and Wakka shared their thoughts on the matter in silence, needing nothing more than a glance and a private smile as they let the sun and the brine of home fill the space between them; Kimahri grunted in agreement.

 “What?” asked Rikku.

 Lulu's smile grew fonder.

 “What?” Rikku asked again.      Her     home was far away. She knew many of its secrets, not these foreign shores’.

 “Summoner on the cliff,” they told her, eventually, with a shrug, and Lulu turned around to look at the line of trees up above. “About time.” “Yuna back by nightfall.” “Let her be, ya?” “She will tell us what she wants to tell us, when she wants to.”

 Rikku cocked her head at this display of collected wisdom, well-meaning for sure, and sensible too, no doubt, and loving, but of no more use to her than the trumpeting of a shoopuf's snout. She waved goodbye to the trio, to Pops and Brother farther back on the beach, and turned her back to the sea.

 The thick underbrush of Besaid's woods soon closed in around her. The paths were wide and clear, marked by dashes of paint on rocks and bark, but as they climbed closer to the promontory they split off into a maze of crossroads that covered the mountainside like a web. With no signs and no map, Rikku could only trust her instincts, her bond with her cousin and, with some luck, that wistful look Lulu had shot earlier, aimed someplace far up and to the East. “Summoner on the cliff”, they had said, but there were no summoners on Spira anymore, not even hidden among faraway palms and ferns. Not even Yunie. Still, the island's most prominent cliff, she believed, was to her right and at least half an hour away.

 An hour later, a parched throat put an end to a long string of Al Bhed profanities and approximations thereof, with frequent refrains aimed at Yevon's smelly feet. Abandoned by the comforting sound of her own voice, Rikku sighed and leaned against a rock, letting the sounds of the woods surround her. The whistling of a breeze. Birds, calling each other among the branches. The crystalline splashing of thin waterfalls down below. Nearby, faint words, human words, Yuna's words. Rikku perked up.

 “We have all paid our prices,” her cousin said from beyond the trees, and if her words echoed the speech she gave from the Grand Maester's seat her voice did not, it stayed private, personal. “Mine�� I mean… how long did you keep your smile? How long is it fair to keep our smile? How much of it was ours? What part of it isn't ours, but Yevon's, I will leave behind and hear nothing of it anymore. I think you agree?”

 Rikku followed the voice into the trees away from the winding trails, hearing it so close now in front of her, separated only by a veil of leaves.

 “Because I know... that it wasn't all Yevon's. I know the warmth wasn't.”

 Past the last fern, the view took Rikku's breath away. A glade opened on a small sunlit basin by the southern cliff, protected by a thick grove and by boulders on the other side. Water pooled on the rocks, one of Besaid's many springs, clear and sparkling in the late afternoon sun. Uncle Braska sat beside it, splashing his feet like a man who hadn't been dead for ten years and didn't have a care in the world, either. He wore his robes loose, chestplate unbuckled, ribbons undone, and had left his heavy headpiece behind, freeing soft brown hair to be caressed by the wind. The holy man (the kind man, the friend of Al Bhed - too friendly, as Pops would have it, but then again, Pops said many stupid things) was massaging his sore neck muscles with a sheepish smile.

 Yuna sat by his side, almost daring to lean on his shoulder, to bask in his contented grace, and talked to him, frank, relieved, understood. She told him of the first time she wove a rope, of a plaque in Bevelle, of the finest points of boiling an egg and it sounded like there was some shared history there that remained safe between them. Small talks, small steps dancing around the words that gripped her throat.

  “I missed you…” she said, eventually, and he splashed his feet some more. “I missed you so much that I couldn't come here. I couldn't afford to be reminded that you were so much more than the hymns and the statues, father. I wanted to, so badly. But I couldn't. The void you left… I had to let it grow smaller. It would be the void I was going to leave in turn, as I followed in your footsteps, and I had to believe that Lulu and the others would… you know.”

 Rikku wished she could hug her then. Hug them both, maybe, in that strange moment out of time which she didn’t want to make sense of. A fair, solid hug. But summoners never got fairness, did they. Not even when they weren't summoners anymore. Not even when they were dead. Braska didn't hug his daughter, but he looked down like he understood her pain and all the world's pain and said, softly: “I know.”

 Startled, Yuna looked at him. She shook her head with a little smile and sat in silence for a while, brightened by his warmth.

 “There is one more thing… then I will tell you again about the chocobos sculptures we made with the sand, I would like very much to tell you about the chocobos. But I need to be honest, with you and with myself, so I will tell you this when I have never told it to anyone on the island. Not even to Lulu, who knows everything. I never came here, father, because I could not stand to find out how you really were. Not only to remember your love from when I was a child, but to meet you again eye to eye, as my own person, and… find out that you were so much more... more kind, more bright, more human than I could ever hope to be. But now… Sin is gone and… we're not so bad, are we? We can sit together like this. I can tell you about places you never saw and people you never met. We made it. Can you believe it? We made it.”

 In that moment he turned to look at Yuna with his kindest smile and faded for a moment in a burst of pyreflies. Rikku blinked. Enthralled by the apparition and by the sun's reflections, she hadn't registered that the small basin was filled with pyreflies, like a chest holding a precious memory. One day, ten years earlier, Braska had stopped there. Rested there. Smiled at his guardians or at a new friend. His pilgrimage had urged him on, but a trace of him had remained in the basin, a summoner on the cliff watching over the island he had come to love.

 So Lulu was right (big whoop, she always was): this moment was for Yuna alone, no matter how much restraint it took Rikku to keep her peace. If she ever felt like getting to know her uncle a little better, she would wait for her turn, another day, another year. Anyway, Besaid’s treasured apparition was just memories, after all, a record stuck in a loop - not the Al Bhed's way. She would rather ask Pops and Yuna and try to make sense of the man behind their words.

 And yet. As she turned around to begin her hike down toward the village, the memory of Braska's words gave her pause. Coincidence, surely. Lucky timing in the pyreflies’ recording, a soft understanding uttered a lifetime ago to different people coming back at just the right time. Her upbringing allowed no other explanation. And yet. She walked down with a spring in her step, feeling loved. Feeling that Yuna was loved, always.

Missing scenes are always great. All those campfires are ripe for interactions. Other characters are welcome to make appearances if desired.

Sylvando & Hendrik: I'm interested in interactions between them in main-game time or just post with their shared backgrounds in mind. I love their contrast--Sylv's flamboyance and Hendrik's stoicism... until he gets flustered. More interaction during game is always welcome! Campfires, traveling shenanigans. Or maybe something in Puerto Valor while the party is there? Any other town is ripe for opportunity as well.

Could talk backgrounds, what Sylvando was doing after he left. Hendrik’s experiences in Heliodor. Or if you want to go on some kind of comfort route maybe something to do with Hendrik having been used by Mordegan against the Luminary or Jasper’s betrayal?

My one rule break on post-game: could also do something related to their Chivalry and Don Rodrigo sending them on that quest. Something during or after it.

Serena & Sylvando: Serena had a tough time after the tree fell, but who better to do some cheering up than the knight in smiling armour himself? Campfire spots are a great opportunity or something in one of the towns. We don’t see these two interact much, so anything would be great.

I love this game and these characters ever so much. I’ve also been having a great time with AUs, crossovers and fandom fusions. Anything from my Yuletide Letter is still game as well as anything listed here!

Cabanela/Jowd: No infidelity please. So, this could be a no-reset scenario, something during the game events--ch.9 and ch.15 stuff is always great. Or on a less angsty route, it is the ot3 or some kind of happy V. but Alma’s simply not involved if they’re at work, she’s at work, or a trip or she’s on a trip, etc, so the focus is on their end.  Fluff, bonding, banter, travel, domestic stuff, on-the-job antics either at the station or out on a case.

Alma/Cabanela/Jowd: Post-game. All the polyamory fluff! Domestic fluff, travel fluff, vacation fluff, road trip, picnics, beach trips, train trip? etc. Go for a date whatever a date might entail for these three. Hugs, snuggles, and love.

Jowd/Alma & Cabanela: The platonic route of the above on Cabanela’s front. As long as they’re close in some way I’m happy. Found family galore! This couple and their stray greyhound.

Cabanela & Jowd: The closest of friends and work partners/rivals. In-game moments--post Ch.9 never gets old. Ch.15 stuff never gets old. Post-game. Coping with memories on Jowd’s front and repeated events. Prior knowledge of cases thanks to previous timeline during the first five years and either that’s a big hint or Cabs already knows and there’s something else to be done there. Or casefic. Day to day life. Friendship anything.

Cabanela & Pigeon Man: I love these two’s friendship. And snark. And banter. And equivalent willingness to believe the weirder explanations for things. Their joint goal for saving Jowd. Anything during the year they worked together is great. Anything post-game is full of great potential. Meeting again. Figuring out how a friendship would work without Jowd in peril.

Alma/Jowd: Marriage fluff, domestic fluff, or pre-game how they got together, what did it look like for Jowd and someone interested in Jowd to get together? Their own brand of ‘courtship’. One sided flirting on Alma’s part? Nothing of the sort and they made their own ways? Wedding proposals? Who proposed to who and how?

Alma & Cabanela: All the close friendship. Early days, future days, banter, a day on the town shopping, out having a ball dancing? Some other activity entirely? Story sharing, hobby sharing that one of the two just can’t quite get? Anything fun goes!

Sissel & Alma: Cat bonding! I don’t have anything else to say really. Anything goes whether Alma knows the truth, finds out the truth, or doesn’t know yet. Cute fluff in all senses.

Jowd & Pigeon Man: Pre-game friendship when PM was still medical examiner. Post-game friendship. Pre-game Jowd leaving his coat with PM. Clearly they are important to each other but we don’t get to see much of anything with the two of them, so anything goes!

Jowd & Sissel: Post-game. The detective and his ghost cat and all the antics that might entail at work or at home. Their ability to communicate silently through the ghost world. Another anything goes.

Cabanela & Sissel: I just love what these two could get up to. Post-game working together either on actual job work, or some other thing--a surprise for someone in the family? Cabanela needing a helping paw with something (those ghost powers are useful!). Sissel needing height and a helping hand? (those ghost powers are limited, plus paws, plus lack of reading). Buddy times!

Give me all the cat-dog-bird fluff/shenanigans/playfulness/warmth/coziness. Anything while they’re together. Barrel feeding, snuggle time, riding, flying. Sweet or silly (Trico has his moments for sure) or something else. I adore Trico. I adore the boy and Trico’s companionship.

Alternatively something in the future. The boy grown up reuniting with Trico. A flight with Trico. A temporary willing return to the nest. Meeting Trico babies!

Or what were their thoughts on the summoner's sacrifice? What did Auron think before they got the truth? What did Jecht think as an outsider? What’s an event that happened during their pilgrimage of some importance or something minor that’s bound to happen while traveling? (always room for chocobo antics!)

Auron & Yuna: A quiet moment during the pilgrimage? This is Auron’s second pilgrimage--what might get talked about? Or what might Yuna ask about Braska or their pilgrimage? Does she have fears or insecurities of her own in relation to being Braska’s daughter? Just something with these two.

Auron & Kimahri Ronso: Kimahri and Auron friendship! Or Auron making the request for Kimahri to take Yuna to Besaid for him. Kimahri is more aware of Auron’s state. Good with anything for these two.

Auron & Lulu: This isn’t the first pilgrimage for either of them. I feel like they would have things to talk about in relation to their past pilgrimages, or things to talk about in relation to the shenanigans of this party. Tired Guardians.

Lulu & Yuna: Summoner and Guardian. Sister-like bonds. Moments during the game. Or events before the game as Yuna prepares for becoming the summoner? Or post-game with Lulu being there for Yuna? Or Yuna being there for Lulu over something pre, during main, or post? If post-game, nothing related to X-2 please, thank you!

Terra & Edgar: I have a soft spot for some kind of friendship between these two. They both took on burdens of duty and while the whole world is more than a kingdom there’s still a point of connection there. Something at the castle? Or something while traveling? Terra being curious about the castle’s mechanics? Moving castle, who wouldn’t think that’s cool?

Terra & Celes: Former Empire people both of them, but one not by choice. The half esper and the magitek knight. Bonding, getting to know each other. Celes seeing the real Terra.

Gogo & Cyan: They’re both neat. Something involving the both of them is just a cool image. Gogo is neat, Gogo’s mimicry is neat. Cyan is cool though tragic. Something with Gogo’s mimicry perhaps, in combat. Not quite a lone samurai. Taking a quiet moment away from the party chaos? I only ask that Gogo’s identity is kept a mystery. (not picky about pronoun usage, I tend toward they/them)

Estelle & Tita: Sisters! Found family! Estelle caring for her while bemused by orbal talk. Any time during FC, SC, 3rd or anything in between is up for grabs. Cute fluff is great.

Olivier & Cassius: They worked together in secret in SC in preparation for Erebonia’s “help” (invasion). I’d be curious to see some kind of interaction between them during that. Mutual updates on the state of Erebonia after Cassius’s return and Olivier’s plans as they stood then maybe? Maybe a meeting before Olivier and Mueller go back to Erebonia? Just really interested in seeing something between these two.

Olivier & Mueller, Olivier/Mueller: Gen or romance slant. I’m good with either. I enjoy Mueller and Olivier's closeness and how they contrast each other. Olivier's more eccentric and flamboyant nature, but also his more serious side. And Mueller's regular exasperation with him, but also his care for him. Being there for each other. I’m fond of the little things like how Mueller always calls him Olivier even after his identity is revealed. Anything during Liberl travels, or in 3rd. I loved Olivier’s Star Door in 3rd, so something related to that would be cool too. Or their growing fondness for Liberl but knowing they have to get back to Erebonia. Or just some goofy town antics at some point before Olivier takes off without Mueller.

Brother and sister times. Or a quiet talk by screen while she’s on the Courageous in CS2? They could probably both use each other’s company and reassurance.

Olivert & Mueller, Olivert/Mueller: Gen or romance slant. I’m good with either. I enjoy Mueller and Olivier's closeness and how they contrast each other. Olivier's more eccentric and flamboyant nature, but also his more serious side. And Mueller's regular exasperation with him, but also his care for him. Being there for each other. Look after a tired Olivert? Something during the civil war when they’re in the west?

Alisa & George: The techies of their respective groups! They have plenty to talk about with that alone, plus George being a former apprentice to Professor Schmidt while Alisa is a Reinford. Orbment talk, Valimar talk, orbal bike talk, Roer talk? Anything goes. Could be in the engineering building or maybe even over coffee in Trista. Let George into town sometimes!

Laura & Machias: They don’t get to interact much but with a rocky beginning and Laura being a noble and Machias’s views of nobles at first, they feel like an interesting pair for interactions. Laura’s no nonsense. Machias is easily flustered. Or something later when Machias has improved in his views. Something between them in a field study, at the academy, or a moment in CS2.

Towa & Sara: The ever helpful, maybe overly helpful sometimes student council president and... Sara. We know Towa helped with Class VII’s school packages and generally helped a lot with Class VII stuff. They’d see each other a lot but we don’t get to see them together much. Towa was also a former student of Sara’s as the prototype class vii, so they have a connection already from that as well.

Towa & Emma: The student council president and Class VII’s president. They’re another pair that would likely interact quite a bit, but we don’t get to see it. It’d be interesting to see something between them. (Celine is welcome too).

Towa & Rean: I’m fond of their friendship and their helping/looking out for each other. I enjoy their friendship. Anything could go whether it’s during the school year or the civil war. Fluffy or something more bittersweet with angst from the stuff they have to go through, particularly in Sen 2. Two souls who care for everyone else but aren’t so good at tending to their own needs. They can make up where the other is lacking. Head pats and lectures and shared coffee around.

Every once in a while I’m filled with love for this comic and its cast. I’m a sucker for all the dream stuff, dragon stuff, looking at early chapters knowing about latter developments... and cows. I’m interested in seeing them meet at any point in their timelines (and as any part or rejoined part of their selves, Dougie&Piranesi as much as Richard&Matthew or any mix thereof) under either canon’s metaphysical rules! (DNW: Richard being “the real Cooper” - I think he’s the part of Coop who is not quite Mr C but still sent all his warmth and empathy away)

What I love in this fandom is intra-party interaction. They’re all wonderful and don’t get to speak to each other that much, if at all. I’d love to see scenes and/or little adventures during or after the game! I don’t really have ships here so any unrequested character is welcome to feature too but I would prefer gen.

Celes & chocobo, Sabin & chocobo, Celes & Sabin & chocobo: you get the idea. It’s CHOCOBOx ffs, I’ve been meaning to request chocobos for years and then I always forgot! Full kweh ahead! Hit me with all the chocobo feels, what it’s like to travel with these big fluffy birds for better and for worse, what it’s like for Celes, what it’s like for Sabin (I just picked two faves who also traveled together), all your chocobo headcanons, during the WoR serpent trench leg of the journey or anywhere else!

Edgar & Gogo: in my ongoing quest to throw Gogo at the rest of the cast and see what happens, I thought it’d be neat to have them hang around Edgar since one’s an accomplished mime and the other is perhaps not so accomplished as he’d like to be in putting up a persona. Canon-typical Edgar flirting is a-ok unless it hinges on Gogo being a woman. I use they pronouns for Gogo but I’m good with all options. I’d like for them to continue presenting as inscrutably gendered, however.

Ghost Trick

I am very interested in various characters finding about  the erased timeline, but not getting their memories back, and having to  live with being told about what they did but never remembering it. Exploring the ghost lore is great. All  what-ifs welcome (what if they managed an acceptable happy ending but  didn’t reset the timeline, what if a different party went back to the  past and kept their memories, what if Alma’s ghost stuck around…) Also  open to AUs here, especially for generic fantasy or sci-fi settings or  the Final Fantasy ones I prompted last Yuletide.

For the non-canon sides of Jowd/Alma/Cabanela, please no  infidelity? I’d be good with either setting the fic during the game  timeline or some what-if thereof when the other spouse is dead or  unavailable, or simply keeping them offscreen and not mentioning them  (eg Alma/Cabanela beach day, Jowd/Cabanela precinct shenanigans)

For  Jowd in general, I do love my big boy and enjoy milking that size  difference for all it’s worth. In gen contexts too, it’s neat. him big.

For Cabanela in general, I am prompting scarf shenanigans, gen or shippy! It’s almost 4m of fabric... scarf used in clever ways, scarf getting in the way, scarf wrapped around one’s throat, scarf sticking out on a stakeout...

Alma/Cabanela/Jowd: maybe once Alma and Jowd have figured out he’s smitten and that they do in fact reciprocate... they tease him to death, slowly and deliberately? Is it even a Jowd romance if there’s not an exhausting amount of teasing involved, I ask? (sorry for repeating a prompt I got the perfect fill for last time - ...more teasing but this time with scarf, if that helps? Something with clothes? Clothes swap?)

Alma/Jowd & Cabanela: Cabs’ life is wild; his best friends’ home is a safe haven...

Bailey & Cabanela: Dance dance dance! Cabanela is not much one for _panic_ dances, but maybe other dances passed on in Bailey’s family could interest him?

Cabanela & Jowd & Pigeon Man: either as colleagues or Jowd trying to bring together these two weirdos who ended up meaning a lot to each other in the other timeline and thankfully didn’t get the same reason to bond now

Cabanela & Missile: off they go with their determination. And, critically, dog hair. The cat doesn’t shed for whatever reason but the dog sure does and that may just be the one tragic obstacle preventing an unstoppable partnership

Emma & Memry: oh so you know who ELSE has a penchant for romance cliches?

Jowd & Justice Minister: Did the Justice Minister ever go visit Jowd in the game timeline? How did he come to appreciate him as “the nation’s best detective”? Or in the new timeline, could Jowd’s insight help somewhat?

Jowd & Sissel & Yomiel: Sissel has two dads and they both love that cat very much. I’m all for the usual new timeline Jowd&Yomiel bonding tropes... with cat!

Kentucky Route Zero

I love the ending and I’d love to see its themes and setting explored. I’m all for exploration of any of  the game’s themes and for including any staples from adjacent genres -  wanna go full-on American Gothic? Dip into surrealism? Take a leaf from  Twin Peaks with tulpa / split narratives to explore the characters’  issues? I love AUs so that’s an option too.  Or of course there’s Xanadu at the height of its glory, an infinite  what-ifs generator. Were the requested characters part of it, what were  their digital counterparts up to? A Xanadu narrative would be great! I’d  also love to hear about any new spot along the Zero or the Echo river,  or an expansion of some place that’s only mentioned by Will in HATATE or  only gets a few paragraphs of text. Mostly, I just love all these characters so much and I’m going through the tagset’s options like a hyperactive cat. Any fragment of their lives will make me happy.

For Lula and all the artists in particular (and Cate, depending on your stance on mushroom hunting, I suppose): please do lean into their art if it’s something you enjoy! Exhibitions, concerts, reviews... accidental reenactments of Robert Frost poems... all the discourse on the arts is my jam, if that’s your thing.

Pyre

I feel deeply for all of Pyre’s main themes - literacy, degrees of freedom, the fragile time that is the end of a historical cycle, nobodies rising up to the occasion, the revolutionary spirit that goes toward building a better society, and of course found family, “distance cannot separate our spirits” and all that jazz. Thoughts about finding oneself at  the end of an age, as everything crumbles down to form something new. I love all the themes, the solemnity, the heart  of this game. I adore everyone in that Blackwagon+Dalbert+Celeste, so  if  you want to add a Nightwing or two to any prompt, please do! I also love  all the Scribes and find Erisa a compelling tragic figure. Out of  the other triumvirates, I’m “love to hate them” for Manley, Brighton,  Udmildhe and Deluge and would not like to see them featured in  sympathetic roles. My main interest usually lies in post-canon  exploration when applicable, but I’m also into various adventures during  canon. Pick a location or a place outside the map and see what happens?  As for the ending variables, I’d ask for a peaceful revolution and  Oralech alive, but no preferences for who’s up and who’s down, pick whatever  works best for any given plot bunny.

For any non-humans, if you like, do lean into their non-human traits! Curs gonna cur, saps gonna sap etc, different biology, different cultures...

Conversely, I regrettably do not enjoy an overwhelming majority of canon pairings so for Pyre, DNW unrequested ships period. The only exceptions are Soliam/Gol and Hedwyn/Fikani which I’d be happy to see featured wherever.

Barker & Brighton: it’s the sportsball bromance, you understand. I want to see these wildly incompatible individuals (Archjustice & Literally Exiled Due To Pissing On An Archjustice’s Statue) bond and maybe travel together due to their shared passion for the Rites and for Barker’s eventual invention of straight-up basketball

Big Bertrude & Celeste: who blinks first. They are... certainly two personalities, with primadonna tendencies perhaps (confirmed for Bertrude, but if I try to picture Celeste away from her job...). What if they clashed, is what I’m saying.

Big Bertrude/Pamitha Theyn: Pam returning from her travels, again and again, and finding a home in Bertrude’s lab, finding an understanding there...  Bertrude’s attitude being thorny in a way that’s just what Pam needs to allow herself to open up... also: snake kisses.  

Celeste/Jodariel: if the Heralds make it to the Union to get a shot at living a life of their own, and Tariq already has his friends and his interests in the material world, what’s left for Celeste? Maybe she could find herself unexpectedly close to Jodi, who’s good with distance and silence and also feels like the world doesn’t need her anymore...

Dalbert & Tariq: Any excuse for Tariq to hang out with the Fates for a little while, and treasure and be treasured by dear Dalbert...

Erisa & Volfred: what were they like!! What did Erisa think of this Reader and his Plan with Oralech, how did he approach her... how did they spent their time together...

Ignarius & Oralech: no no no listen, here’s the thing. If Iggy’s clearly got a thing for impressive horns and in general is quite stunned by other demons... ...I need him to see Oralech. Take this as seriously or as crack-treated-seriously as you wish.

Oralech/Tariq: I think there may be something about two individuals who got ultimately screwed by the final steps of the Scribes’ design (Oralech self-evidently; Tariq decides to rebel (!) to the planned end of his and Celeste’s mortal existences and stick around for a while). Learning to carve a niche for themselves...

Oralech/Volfred: waking up and remembering that the mourning that’s set deep in your roots is for someone who never died, waking up and remembering that the bitterness that consumed you had made up a betrayal that never was, finding each other through these crumbling walls... ...and/or Oralech being the government’s checks and balances aka the guy who knows Volfred and knows when to say Volfred _no_

Tariq/Volfred: Volfred’s zodiac sign is Cancer and Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so   there’s that.    I love how they both hold the other in the highest   esteem, especially on Tariq’s part since he’s the immortal Herald of   the Scribes and Volfred is, all in all, a history teacher, but listen to  him and you’d think the roles were inverted. I love my nonviolent canon  but could anything happen to either of them that may require a rescue,  and/or some good old-fashioned h/c? What’s something that could make  Tariq of all people lose it? How’s life 100 years on?  

Oralech/Tariq/Volfred: Volfred has two hands, and sometimes miracles happen twice? How do they balance each other, what’s the Oralech/Tariq side like and what’s Volfred’s perspective on it? Is Tariq a constant part of their lives or does he fade in and out? 

The Silver Case

I‘m all for the surrealism, big things being introduced and never picked up again, Rashomon’ing it up with six explanations for the same thing where no single one can be true, people dying and then popping up again like nbd...  maybe the thing I like the most is characters transcending their humanity and looming over the dystopian world like ominous avatars. Correctness’ first ending had me swooning, that kind of mood is unparalleled. I have played TSC, FSR and 25W so far and have vague memories of K7. I’m aware of the “everything’s connected” readings and they sure seem to check out but that’s not my main interest in these games. For FSR-focused requests, I see Lospass as a real island but also a metaphysical  place of transformation first and foremost, where strange things happen that don’t make sense elsewhere.

Toriko Kusabi & Remy Fawzil: What’s Toriko up to when she’s not chasing Chris? I think it could be fun to throw her at Remy and see the island from their point of view!

Tetsugorou Kusabi/Sumio Kodai: Tetsu picked one hell of a crush, huh! What’s it like in the aftermath of the games, when Sumio is Like That? How does Tetsu grapple with Parade? Is Tetsu an anchor of sorts for Correctness Sumio, who seems (at best) to be existing on a slightly different plane of existence at any given time and could disappear if you blink too hard?

Tetsugorou Kusabi & Shinko Kuroyanagi: I’m joining the “let these two be foulmouthed friends” masses - who’d be more fed up with the other’s nonsense, and in which ways would they be an unstoppable team?

Shinkai Tsuki & Tetsugorou Kusabi: Both of them end their stories in the shadows one way or another, and defending their protégé may have had a hand in their misfortune one way or another. What kind of understanding could they reach? What IS Tsuki up to anyway?

Christina & Catherine: anthro Catherine, as per the Placebo bonus chapter Yami, was unexpectedly charming. What was Chris before reaching Lospass, and did he also have a chat with her on the plane or on the island?

Shinkai Tsuki & Tokio Morishima: not unlike Tsuki&Tetsu, I’m intrigued by their 25W endings and I wonder if they could have a little lowkey, off-the-grid teamup maybe?

Tetsugorou Kusabi & Toriko Kusabi: a sweet father-daughter bonding moment on Lospass perhaps, both orbiting around Sumio’s nonsense in increasingly bizarre ways? What’s their take on the island?

Twin Peaks

Case fic but they  don’t find out jack shit, someone disappears, David Bowie was there,  it’s complicated. Fragmented, shifted, mirrored identities. New Lodge  spaces. The risks of staring into the void for too long. Gentle illusions. Transcendence. The moon. Static buzzing. Any title from the s3 ethereal whooshing compilation used as a prompt, actually. Twin  Peaks is all about the mystery to me, the awe of mystery and  unknowability and the human drive to look beyond and the risks of  getting a peek, and about shared consciousness and trauma taking  physical form in an uncaring  world. Go wild with the ethereal whooshing!  But I also love the human warmth at the heart of it all, and sometimes it’s enough to anchor these characters and let them have a nice day. A fic entirely focused on some instance of coziness against the cold chaotic background of canon would be great too.

Canon-specific DNWs:  any singular Dreamer being the ‘source’ of canon, BOB (let alone Judy)  being forever defeated in the finale, Judy being an active malevolent  presence in the characters’ lives, clear explanations for canonical ambiguities, ‘Odessaverse’ being the reality layer, the Fireman’s house by the sea being the White Lodge, anything that 4 hours Twin Perfect video says is the explanation of Twin Peaks 

Albert & Hawk: I love Hawk’s constant snarkiness in TSHOTP and I think it would work very well with Albert’s, so I’d love to see them either snipe at each other or work together to demolish... idk, Ben or whomever. They also share the peculiar brand of skepticism of someone who has been stewing in supernatural nonsense half their lives and that’s cool too I think

Albert & Windom: speaking of people who should snipe at each other...! Were they forced to work together at some point or did they bark at each other during an office party or? (and when did Gordon start pretending that Windom never even existed, incidentally?)

Albert/Coop: fiery early days? Dream meetings that Albert will inevitably write off as a product of his aching subconscious? Post-finale where Albert has made his peace with Coop not being part of this world and not even deigning to greet him, except one day Coop is back - with apologies? Post-post-finale where they’re peacefully living out their days as best as they can?    

Albert/Harry: did they tragically fall into each other’s arms in the wake of Coop’s disappearance? Did they realize they’re so good for each other, but neither of them was willing to give up their life? And/or was the wound of Coop’s disappearance too fresh for them to try to heal? Do they keep in touch throughout the years? Does Albert resign on the spot with a resounding fuck it after the s3 finale and rush to see Harry? Does he stay this time?    

Coop/Harry: Harry seeing his Coop again… somewhere, somehow. Maybe he perceives him in the woods, maybe Coop isn’t all human now. Monster cuddles very welcome. Could be canon divergence but could very well be post-s3. Harry getting closure for waiting all that time in front of Glastonbury and never giving up on Coop… they can live in the woods together…  

Albert/Coop/Harry: basically the sum of the three sides of this triad… give them peace, given them nice things, give them so much love… Coop finding his place in the world and making up for lost time… give time to these old wounds…    

Bobby/Shelly & James: I am very fond of all three of them and I’d like for James to have friends maybe? Shelly thinks he’s cool! If he and Bobby can get over the decades-old rift due to Laura’s affections...

Cynthia/Tammy: the FBI and USAF supernatural branches meet again after Douglas Milford’s times... what’s their attitude toward it (who’s the Mulder and who’s the Scully......), in what ways does their respective task force’s past inform their views, is there more hope for a new generation who saw the trauma of the past without living it firsthand? LET TAMMY KISS ALL THE GIRLS BUT THIS ONE IN PARTICULAR

Frank & Margaret: extremely bold of Frank to pretend nothing weird whatsoever has ever gone down in his life when he grew up in town and presumably was still around when Margaret became the Log Lady. I’m interested in this clash between his “not my division” attitude and an actual oracle. On the other hand, they may have things in common...

Laura & Monica Bellucci: go wild. I’m good with the wildest theories on what Monica Bellucci actually is/represents. Out of all the people she could interact with, I’m glad Laura was nominated. Lodgey nonsense ahoy!

For any of these, I’d be thrilled to get any small situation or event that highlights the dynamic you see between these characters - show me what ties them together, what could make them drop their barriers with the other person. Or a big situation! I like plotty fic too! But especially if we matched on some bizarre “&” combo that never even interacted in canon, I’d love to simply see what a scene between them could be like.

I recently replayed FFVI and truly fell in love with it for the first time. The game does a wonderful job of juggling such a big party but I spent all the downtime daydreaming about all the intra-party dynamics I could think of - these characters are all so cool and should talk to each other more. Worldbuilding also very welcome if that’s your thing. I don’t have any strong shippy feelings here but if you want to background something, I do dig Celes/Terra.

Gogo & Cyan: ascetic Gogo leaves their cave to fight for a higher cause. What’s it like, being a hermit but having a skillset that is literally based on other people? Something something abnegation of the self? What’s it like, suddenly being among so many loud, unique people? Do they and Cyan meditate together and find a moment of respite from the crowded mess that is the Falcon, what does Cyan think about them, what does it feel like to see Doma’s otherwise lost sword techniques mimicked on the battlefield? (I default to they for Gogo but he or she work just as well. I’d just like them to be their own person, no identity reveals. And a pretty big person at that, going by Amano’s artwork, regardless of gender!)

Mog & Terra: fae folk bonding, basically? It’s such a central aspect of Terra’s character but I saw it in Mog too - the way moogles break the fourth wall, how they help her at the beginning like an aid from the earth itself, and Mog’s own Geomancer skillset, his dances that draw from the power of the earth... so maybe some cute friendship between these two otherworldly characters, each in their own way?

Sabin & Celes: Celes could use some friends she could rely on and Sabin always felt so... safe to me. Good bear. So when they got their moment to shine in the World of Ruin, I was overjoyed. Sabin’s comforting presence was just what she needed to find first! And that long chocobo ride along the serpent trench, chasing hope, seeing the cultists’ tower from afar...

Sabin & Cyan: Sabin’s leg of the journey is something else and I’d love to know more about his adventures with Cyan, or their feelings about their homes, one lost, one left behind. They’re both pretty emotionally charged at that point and I think it’d be interesting to explore. They also share some form of martial training, making imho for an interesting common ground.

Strago & Celes: descendant of the mage knights & artificially infused magitek knight, what does magic feel to them? Does Strago’s odd family have space for an added granddaughter (especially if Cid died on the island, but Strago was the Coolest Grandpa anyway, no offense to Dr Del Norte Marquez and his magnificent banana coat)?

Jowd & PM: anything about their friendships from back in the day when Pigeon Man was still Jowd’s coroner to a new timeline where PM is still fascinated by meteors/astronomy/alien conspiracies and Jowd humors him...

Jowd & Sissel: oh the shenanigans. Some clever communication between them, on a case or otherwise? Sissel doing cat things? Gossiping through the ghost world?

Alma/Cabanela/Jowd: what’s a hobby one of them has that the other two are dragged into? How about a day at the beach? Or in a cabin? I’ll take hot springs or basically any standard anime filler plot too. Unless you want to write about their get-together, which will never get old for me.

Jowd/Alma & Cabanela: see above but with INTENSE found family instead. Cabanela finding a place where he belongs, two people who feel like home. I can totally see it not being romantic at all and just as intense. When did it click for them?

Cabanela/Jowd: please no infidelity, I only like the ship without Alma during the canon times when Alma is dead or at most a what-if where she’s not around. Did Cabanela lower his mask for a hot minute during their walk to the minister’s office? What if he’d stayed dead and tagged along with Jowd and Lynne after 15? What if no-reset scenarios? Or office shenanigans where Alma is backgrounded by virtue of not working there but she’s okay with what’s going on.

Lynne & Memry: next generation detectives! Action! Ridiculous murders! Secret ghost cats! A little bit in the future maybe? Odd girl & odder girl teaming up and leaning into each other’s quirks... maybe undercover?

Lynne/Memry: same as above but they kiss - and Memry trying to get through Lynne’s obliviousness sounds like my kind of fun.

Pigeon Man & Memry: please evacuate everyone else from the expected blast radius when these two start talking. But she’s a detective - Special Investigation Unit, at that! - and he used to be a coroner and still has several aces up his sleeve, so who knows what could get them working together...

Cabanela & Sissel: let Sissel have his fun. He’s been eyeing Cabanela’s quirks since that fateful night, please let him tag along and enjoy the eccentricities. He can do the whole noir detective narration and Cabanela (who, lbr, would jump at the chance to be even more extra) can act accordingly...

Jowd & Yomiel: the PTSD team. Even beyond the experiences they have in common and the memories they can’t share with anyone else who’d truly understand them, there’s something about their approach to life that makes me think they’d bond quick and be able to get over the respective atrocities. Bertrude & Volfred: something nice Volfred does for Bertrude? Some mild adventure as he brought her to the Nightwings? A bizarre request for her shop? That dialogue about their relationship slew me dead - friendship through unrequited love is one of my rare tropes, so I’d like to see any aspect of their bond. Or epistolary with an ending that splits them, either way?

Celeste & Tariq: something completely alien set at any point before the ending, showing how inhuman they both are (but maybe Tariq picked up /something/ during his travels?) or, on the contrary, figuring out humanity as they travel together as a mysterious indie duo?

Sir Gilman & Jodariel: On war, honor, the Bloodborder... Sir Gilman is in awe of her, obviously, but is she in a state of mind where she can be boosted by his unrelenting energy?

ae & Tariq: Moon Moon! And Tariq looks like someone who knows a whole lot about the Scribes, so I think she might try to figure him out at some point, in her own way... but mostly, moon connection...

Volfred/Tariq: All I know is Tariq of all people fell and fell hard - he makes it sound like Volfred is the biggest deal ever and he's some servant... but he's the herald and Volfred is actually some dude who got kicked Downside (albeit a particularly charismatic and idealistic dude). And I like this dual imbalance very much. What happened in the woods during Volfred’s self-imposed exile? Or do they find each other again after the ending, in the Union? If you want to lean on how alien Tariq is and/or how tree Volfred is, please do!

Hedwyn & Jodariel: (I see them as brotherly more than mother-and-son, fwiw) what was their reunion like? How much did Hedwyn find Jodariel changed, horns and dramatic makeup aside? What about fic where her transformation recedes in the Union? Or their early days in the blackwagon - or their late days in the blackwagon when it’s not just them anymore? What can she absolutely count on him for?

The boy & the very good boy... I’d like to read about a distant reunion. I was surprised by the boy being the combo breaker after the former Ueda protagonists cast their societies behind. He gets to live his life with his people, apparently, but what makes him leave and find Trico again? What’s their bond like, years later? Or is it Trico who comes back to search for him?

David/Rush is a welcome exception to my “no unrequested ships” DNW. I’m mostly interested in post-game exploration, which means either a David who has lost his bf or fic set further in the future where Rush has somehow come back.

David & Allan: Allan is tsundere enough about Torgal (not necessarily in a romantic sense!) and enough of a stuck-up cat in general that I think it’d be fun to throw a skilled diplomat at him, and one who knows Torgal very well at that.

David & Ghor: I like the Duke of Ghor a lot, and the more well-adjusted Yama characters in general. Politics talk? Or something more personal? What’s Ghor’s position in the new political landscape, what would David’s visit be like?

David & Emmy: if David was Emma’s filial figure and Emmy her actual daughter, did they perchance grow up together before Emmy left for her journey? How about some reminiscing? What did Emma teach them, how are they coping and moving forward?

David & Roberto: Can someone please adopt the good Marquis - celibate Roberto, for example? I imagine they could feel at ease with each other, got each other’s emotional back covered...

Emmy/Glenys: Sword lesbians? With very different hangups about proving themselves... if you want to go full weird with Glenys, especially wrt her mysterious connection to the homonymous kingdom, be my guest!

Case fic but they don’t find out jack shit, someone disappears, David Bowie was there, it’s complicated. Fragmented, shifted, mirrored identities. New Lodge spaces. The risks of staring into the void for too long. Gentle illusions. The moon. Static buzzing. Any title from the s3 ethereal whooshing compilation used as a prompt, actually. AUs and fusion AUs are great for this fandom! I have Final Fantasy on my mind a lot recently so any FFVI, VII, T, IX, X, XII or XIII reimagining would be fantastic, but also regular fantasy, space opera, sci-fantasy… anything fancy!

Canon-specific dislikes: any singular Dreamer being the ‘source’ of canon, BOB (let alone Judy) being forever defeated in the finale, Judy being an active malevolent presence in the characters’ lives, ‘Odessaverse’ being the reality layer, the Fireman’s House by the Sea being the White Lodge, Gordon being a harmless, fun dad or conversely having the worst intentions. Clear explanations for canonical ambiguities.

Harry & Garland: Bookhouse Boys&Bue Rose-adjacent friendship, quietly aware of the mysteries that surround them? Or, as per Mark Frost’s AMA, Harry finding out important info throughout the 25 years and passing them to Garland - but Garland isn’t conventionally alive and physical throughout the 25 years, so did he travel through strange places to reach him?

Albert/Harry & Frank/Doris: Albert needs someone to shout AT, Doris needs some to shout BACK, I think. It could be therapeutic for both of them. Could they meet through the Trumans? Frank and Doris’ relationship can be as complicated and probably doomed as we saw it - I do feel that they care for each other and I’m really invested but it’s too strained, too sad.

Gordon & Constance:is she involved in some new strange case or is Gordon cleaning up the Briggs mess? What’s it like, sparring with someone who still has the fire of a young Albert? What does she suspect? (no Albert/Constance, please. Albert&Constance otoh I’m interested in)

Gordon Cole/Phillip Jeffries: does Gordon eventually manage to throw himself into the void (that’s one way of considering a retirement plan!) and reach Phillip? What’s left inside that teapot alembic, or is he the smoke? How did Gordon even get word from Phil - in his pt17 infodump, he seems perfectly aware of the other’s status - what kind of contact have they kept? I love all the fanon I’ve seen for them, if you want to lean into it.

Maddy Ferguson & Audrey Horne: looking for Laura in each other, finding out they’re not Laura through each other? It’s a shame that Maddy and Donna never really got to explore this angle in canon and it’s an even bigger shame that Maddy and Audrey, also on her path toward Laura-ification, didn’t even meet! Or, if you will, wild postcanon meeting. Mfrost said Maddy is alive now, so...!

Dale Cooper & Laura Palmer & Wally Brando: I have a soft spot for Dale and Laura traveling through strange spaces, lost, slowly healing. On this background, imagine, if you will: Wally speeding by on his bike. I need this meeting...

Dale Cooper/Albert Rosenfield: fiery early days? Dream meetings that Albert will inevitably write off as a product of his aching subconscious? Post-finale where Albert has made his peace with Coop not being part of this world and not even deigning to greet him, except one day Coop is back - with apologies? Post-post-finale where they’re peacefully living out their days as best as they can?

Albert Rosenfield/Harry Truman: did they tragically fall into each other’s arms in the wake of Coop’s disappearance? Did they realize they’re so good for each other, but neither of them was willing to give up their life? And/or was the wound of Coop’s disappearance too fresh for them to try to heal? Do they keep in touch throughout the years? Does Albert resign on the spot with a resounding fuck it after the s3 finale and rush to see Harry? Does he stay this time?

Dale Cooper/Harry Truman: Harry seeing his Coop again… somewhere, somehow. Maybe he perceives him in the woods, maybe Coop isn’t all human now. Monster cuddles very welcome. Could be canon divergence but could very well be post-s3. Harry getting closure for waiting all that time in front of Glastonbury and never giving up on Coop… they can live in the woods together…

Dale Cooper/Albert Rosenfield/Harry Truman: basically the sum of the three sides of this triad… give them peace, given them nice things, give them so much love… Coop finding his place in the world and making up for lost time… give time to these old wounds…

Bobby Briggs & James Hurley: once Laura stops being a burning wedge between them, could they maybe... begin to get along? There’s something to be said about their complementary approaches to the bad boy image - besides, Shelly thinks that James was always cool and Bobby does value her opinion! Could also be Bobby/Shelly & James, if the Briggs manage to reconcile... maybe through James somehow?

Chet Desmond/Sam Stanley: reunion fic! Chet’s been AWOL for years, Sam has fallen through the cracks, how do they find each other again and why do they choose to remain off the grid? I would also like to read about them in the present day-ish, handwaving the return and reunion. Maybe they made a new life for themselves. If Sutherland were to play Sam again, Sam would be… notably more buff. What caused that change, was it traveling with Chet, what kind of person is he now? Could they be in Buenos Aires, investigating on their own whatever that shrinking box was?
