How I feel about this character

Ironically...I started playing Origins almost entirely because I was so excited that there was a big mainstream RPG that let me have an F/F romance, but Leliana ended not being my favorite romance! (Mostly because I have Brainweirds around deeply religious characters, and while Leliana fascinates me, I would rather ship her with other NPCs.)

And she is so much fun!!! I love the light and dark of her, the way she's still struggling between these two very real parts of herself, her faith and her love of power and violence, and the way she reconciles them. I love the way she's not just faithful, but a heretic in that her interpretation of the Maker is quite different from those around her, and it's not something I think the game fully explores as much as I think it could? (admittedly, it's been years since I actually played Origin so I probably need to revisit the canon!)

Leliana is fun and gorgeous and lies so much to herself and everyone around her, in different ways. :3

All the people I ship romantically with this character

MORRIGAN!!! As I have already ranted on the Morrigan post, despite their animosity, they could just as easily become each other's few points of constancy or familiarity across the years and distance that have separated them!!! Even if they weren't friends or lovers by Origins, they could have easily become so by Inquisition!

Also they're just such fun narrative foils; Morrigan the 'dark' and cynical one who in reality is incredibly sheltered and hasn't had much opportunity to see the world outside the wilds, compared to Leliana's initial impression of utterly sweet and innocent altruism but who has also been more worldly in her travels and her love of politics and intrigue. Even if Morrigan first falls for Leliana's facade, I don't think Leliana ever truly falls for Morrigan's.

While Morrigan remains my #1 ship for Leliana, I also am intrigued by the possibilities of Leliana/Josephine and hc that Bethany had a crush on Leliana, back in Lothering, so Bethany/Leliana could be cute!

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Zevran!!! Don't tell me that a spymaster and Left Hand of the Divine wouldn't stay in contact with the assassin she once traveled with! A mutually agreeable series of business arrangements and the fact that yes, they have a shared history and intensity of experience that not everyone else can match, and....yeah, they have their own frictions in Origins, but I think they could easily become BFFs in another life. :)

My unpopular opinion about this character

Again, not really sure how unpopular this is, but: One of the reasons that Leliana wears a hood in Inquisition is to cover the fact she's going gray. Yes, she's vain. :)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Besides the fact that she should have talked with Morrigan at the ball???? uhhhhh

I love how Chocolate Bark Cookie is like the laid-back uncle to Dark Choco Cookie, It's so cute!
