Obviously they'd be the IT couple, fashion wise.

Chloé sees the free mom/dad hugs and tears up but she doesn't want anyone to know (their classmates are with them) so Mari acts like she accidentally stepped on her girlfriend's foot so they can excuse themselves for privacy.

"I'm sorry, I just wasn't expecting-" "It's okay. I understand."

When they go back to their friends, Chloé steals another glance at the proud parents and thinks 'next time, maybe I can have a hug too.'

A religious homophobe decides to crash one of the booths so Chloé doesn't hesitate to wack them with her bag 'accidentally.'

"You're right, babe. This was fine. At least I didn't have to waste my good bags on filthy pieces of shit like them."

Marinette doesn't know if she should be baffled or turned on.

The day goes well. They're both overwhelmed, Chloé more so. But it's freeing to see people like them live their lives proudly and happily.

Chloé volunteers to get them the famous rainbow colored hotdogs as Mari finds a spot. "You don't even eat those." "Well, I am a lesbian."

As she's making her way through the crowd, Chloé suddenly bumps into someone. After months of learning how to be nicer and unlearning toxic habits, she was prepared to say sorry.

To a woman with a shirt that says 'That's my daughter, and I'm proud of her."

"Oh sweetie, I didn't see you! I'm sorry about that. Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?"

"I.."

The woman gives her a bright smile and digs into her bag she was carrying. "Here, my daughter made these. As an apology for bumping into you."

It was a bracelet with all the colors of the rainbow. Chloé didn't know how to react.

Without waiting for a reply, the woman gives Chloé a quick hug and a pat on the shoulder.

As they're making their way back home, Chloé cuddles into Mari when they're at the privacy of the limo. "I wanna be like them." "Who?" She shows the small bracelet the woman gave her, "Them."

Well, that's all I have for now. Will now go back to my cave to continue writing some prompts.

Whenever I see people argue against Chloenette using arguments like "think of the bullying victims", I'm just like... yes, I am in fact thinking of myself, thanks for reminding me.

Friendly reminder that it's entirely possible for victims of bullying to ship Chloenette. It's totally valid if that is your reason for not shipping it or even want to avoid it at all cost (that's what blacklisting is for), but you have literally zero right to tell other people how to cope with their bullying related traumas.

I'm 30 and haven't been bullied in 14 years, but still suffer from the scars it left me. So, excuse me while I try to heal through a fictional envirement where I'm the one in control.

K Reviews and Rants: Miraculous Ladybug Season 5! Episode 14

Hello all, today, I review the episode I dislike the most out of Season 5. It isn't the one that upsets me the most, but it is the one I personally dislike the most, both on a moral principle, and a writing principle. I hope I do it justice in outlining how bad it is.

Now, there are a LOT of things I could say about this episode in hindsight, but the long and short of it is that this entire episode doesn't make even the slightest bit of sense in terms of continuity. Trauma is not something you just "get over" by having a revelation about what caused it, not even slightly. More over, the show acting as if Marinette having trauma absolves her of the ethical lines she's crossed in her obsession with Adrien... even ignoring how it tries to retcon Chloe's missing mom being this known thing now doesn't work because the show acting as if people IRL think "Chloe's mom not being around" is why she's the way she is and mocking them for it... does not work.

It just does not WORK, especially not when they have Mylene, one of the characters they had profess the idea that they believed Chloe could grow to become better, as the one to shoot that idea down, all while ignoring how Mylene's situation is NOTHING like Chloe's and I don't mean financially. Mylene is the last character that should be used to criticize Chloe; it's not ABOUT that Chloe's mom wasn't around when she grew up, it's that not only does Mylene have a father who loves her so much he uses a photo of her as a good luck charm he keeps in his hat, she doesn't have to live with the knowledge that her mom is a famous celebrity that she can hear about every time she turns on the news or tries to hear about what is going on in the fashion industry, living with the knowledge that her mother could literally come over whenever she wants... and is CHOOSING not to do so.

Combined with it making a mockery of trauma and PTSD by saying NOW of all times that Marinette was secretly traumatized by a bad prank Chloe and Sabrina pulled on her last school year (not even a full year before the series starts, less then three months), and it's the reason she has such a bad time talking with Adrien, it doesn't work when we know that she has NEVER had those problems when she was with Luka. I don't even like Lukanette (Chloenette fan forever, here), and even I can tell you point blank that they were a couple, had decent chemistry, and had NONE of the baggage she does with Adrien. It's not good writing at all.

With that wordy rant done, onto the review! Please, forgive me for any profanity on my part.

Episode 14: Derision 

And... here's Derision. Sigh... 

Okay, we start off with Marinette answering a call from Adrien, nothing going wrong... and then she starts trembling and her vision goes wonky. ALREADY HATING THIS!! 

Just... THERE IS NO FUCKING REASON FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING!!! If this is because she's dating someone, WHY DIDN'T THIS HAPPEN WITH LUKA!? The literal episode immediately preceding this one called attention to the fact that they dated, yet THIS was never a part of it!! 

Oh, and THOSE KINDS OF SYMPTOMS DO NOT JUST FUCKING PASS WHEN SOMEONE ASKS YOU WHAT IS WRONG!! You can certainly FAKE IT, but it's like telling someone you're fine when you're obviously NOT fine; it's an act, not really being okay. 

And the tremors start up the second they bring up she has a date... (Hits head against a wall) Fuck this. Fuck this nonsense. 

...Okay, she's getting those symptoms over a picture of Kim. At the pool. Kim, who she shares classes with. Kim, who she sees BASICALLY EVERY FUCKING DAY. I'm hating this more and more with each passing moment. 

And now the hallucination-esque flashbacks are getting worse... ugh. Just... just so much of this is wrong to me. It makes me feel nauseous watching this. I may not have flashbacks like this, but I DO get trauma impacting one's actions and behavior, and I have HAD minor panic attacks due to people throwing me off balance or pressuring me on something I am not qualified to answer. Seeing THIS is honestly really upsetting, because ALL OF THIS CAME OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE!! EVERYTHING THEY ARE TRYING TO TREAT AS SOME TRAUMATIC EPISODE IS STUFF THEY PULLED OUT OF THEIR ASSES!!! 

...Her needing to be alone. THAT is the one thing I can get behind in this nonsense.

I am currently breathing very, VERY hard to remind myself that Kim is not normally this much of a fucking idiot. I am trying very, VERY hard not to get mad. Kim, from the very beginning of Origins, is a weirdo that has issues with being insensitive, who is overcompetitive and tends to bite off more than he can chew by dragging people into dumb dares that he usually loses anyway. Him treating what amounts TO A FUCKING PANIC ATTACK as "reacting to a prank" is so stupid, so idiotic, I WANT TO FUCKING SCREAM RIGHT NOW!!! Even during Origins, when he honestly CAUSED the problem, he was largely just trying to help in his own dumb way. THIS!? THIS IS HIM BEING AN ASSHOLE!!! 

They just... they had Marinette get Akumatized over a Panic Attack. Well, nearly get Akumatized, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW IT ISN'T GONNA HAPPEN FOR REAL!! I am just... so much hate right now. SO MUCH HATE. Oh, and this calls a little bit of continuity into suspect because Marinette KNOWS she's Ladybug, so why the hell isn't Hawkmoth starting to pick up on the fact that she knows this and has the Miraculous!? After all, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED WITH LUKA YOU FUCKING HACK WRITERS!!! 

Also, apparently Ondine has known Kim since the time the "prank" took place, so him saying she wouldn't know makes jack all sense. 

My eyebrow is twitching. My brow is literally twitching at my sheer ANGER over this bullshit right now. 

And here comes the character butchering!! Let's see how much this pisses me off, SHALL WE!?

First off: Sabine spots right away that Marinette is trying to avoid going to school, and the dialogue makes it PRETTY DAMN OBVIOUS WHO THE FUCK THEY MEAN in the form of Chloe. They haven't said it yet, but when you phrase it as 'only two weeks left of school with her' IT DOES NOT TAKE A GENIUS TO FIGURE IT OUT!!!! What makes this absolutely fucking STUPID is that Sabine IS A BETTER FUCKING PARENT THAN THIS!!! If she knows that Chloe is bad enough that Marinette would rather avoid going to school than be around her, THEN SHE WOULD EITHER BRING IT UP WITH FACULTY, PULL HER OUT OF SCHOOL, OR JUST DO SOMETHING OTHER THEN TELL HER TO KEEP HER FUCKING CHIN UP!! IT'S NONSENSE LIKE THIS THAT MADE PEOPLE ANGRY AT CALINE IN ZOMBIZOU!!!!

Oh, and let's get into the next part of why this is nonsense to me. First off, what the absolute FUCK happened that made Marinette go from "ugh, it's Chloe, best to ignore her, she's not worth it" to "literally running and hiding and cowering behind doors over Chloe"? THAT IS NOT A NATURAL CHANGE IN BEHAVIOR!! It's Summer Break, not an entire year, there is no realistic reason for their dynamic to change like that!!! 

Okay, Marinette somehow had a bunch of bugs hiding under her books. HOW? If there were any bugs in her locker, they would've been ON THE BOOKS, because textbooks are way too heavy for a significant number of books to be capable of moving around beneath them. If you tried to put her books on top of them, they would just squash them. 

Moving on from the inconsistency I was fixating on to distract myself from RAGE, we get Damocles appearing at just the right time to cause trouble and yelling at Marinette for not being in class apparently for the eighth time in a week. And "good thing an anonymous student warns me when your about to break the rules" WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCKING HELL IS THIS SHIT!? Seriously, an "anonymous tip" every fucking time!? Does this idiot not seem to understand the concept of a fucking SET UP?!? 

...The "anonymous tip" is literally using Chloe's name. This isn't just contrived, THIS IS FUCKING MORONIC!!! 

HOW MUCH OF AN IDIOT IS THIS GUY SUPPOSED TO BE!? 

...And they made Mendeleiev an idiot, dismiss Marinette's distress as "clowning around" I AM GOING TO BURN THIS VIDEO TO THE GROUND!!! I CANNOT STAND THIS SHIT!! 

And they've got Chloe making fun of Juleka's stutter, which she never had in any of the first three seasons. Ugh. 

...Uuuhhh... they had Rose saying Chloe's mother left her... WHEN NONE OF THEIR CLASS EVEN KNEW ABOUT THAT UNTIL SEASON TWO!!! Rose also got threatened by Chloe to, so this is just idiotic.

If this is meant to be an attack on the idea of people using Chloe's missing mom to excuse her behavior, THIS NEVER ONCE OCCURRED ANYWHERE IN THE SERIES PRIOR TO THIS MOMENT UNLESS IT WAS LILA!! Heck, the only person who has EVER unironically attempted to justify something Chloe had done (or rather, hadn't done) was Sabrina on Chloe's behalf by claiming Chloe forgot birthdays a lot because her mom forgot hers all the time... and Chloe got PISSED at her over this because she doesn't like her mom being brought the fuck UP!! And what makes this nonsense so utterly stupid is that EVERYONE seems to know that Chloe is the culprit, and could easily expose her, and they aren't doing so!! I AM PISSED OFF!! I AM ANNOYED!!! I WANT TO WRITE A STRONGLY WORDED LETTER!!! 

Honestly, Kim offering swimming trunks to replace someone's ruined pants is the closest to being in character he’s in this entire episode. 

I am not even going to comment on this show acting as if just one school year ago Chloe ruled the school with an iron fist and could dictate who Marinette could and could not talk to, BECAUSE IT IS UTTER FUCKING NONSENSE!! Chloe did NOT flagrantly break the rules and get away with it due to teachers dismissing her actions as being "wild accusations" she genuinely TRIED to avoid getting caught when she acted out, and she didn't target Marinette in specific more than anyone else!! NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE!!! THIS IS LITERALLY JUST CHARACTER ASSASSINATION!! 

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH THIS NONSENSE ABOUT THERE BEING "NO REST" FOR MARINETTE!! I DO NOT WANT TO HERE THIS BULLSHIT BEING SPOKEN BECAUSE THIS IS SO WILDLY AND SEVERELY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR CHLOE!! SHE DOES NOT GO OUT OF HER WAY TO TORMENT PEOPLE FOR HER AMUSEMENT!! SHE RARELY TORMENTS PEOPLE AT ALL, SHE IS JUST AN OBNOXIOUS BRAT!!! I WANT THIS STUPIDITY TO FUCKING END!!! 

IF IT ISN'T CLEAR!! I AM BEYOND PISSED OFF AT THE MOMENT!!! WHY THE ABSOLUTE FUCK WOULD ANY OF THE TEACHERS BE AFRAID OF A TEENAGE GIRL!?! THEY LITERALLY HAVE ALL THE POWER IN THE DYNAMIC!! WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO MAKE SOCQUELINE INTO THIS BRAVE PROTECTOR FOR MARINETTE WHEN THIS COMPLETELY FUCKING UNDERMINES THE FACT THAT ALYA WAS APPARENTLY THE FIRST ONE TO CONVINCE HER TO STAND UP FOR HERSELF!?? YOU CANNOT FUCKING SAY IT IS BECAUSE IT DIDN'T SINK IN UNTIL NOW OR SOME BULLSHIT LIKE THAT BECAUSE SOCQUELINE APPARENTLY WENT SO FAR AS TO PHYSICALLY THREATEN CHLOE, WHEN ALL ALYA DID WAS PULL MARINETTE AWAY FROM CHLOE AND BARELY DID ANYTHING DIRECTLY AT ALL!! GET THIS FUCKING BULLSHIT OUT OF MY FACE!!!

ALSO, WHY IN THE FUCK ARE KIM AND MAX GOOD ENOUGH FRIENDS IN THE PRESENT WHEN WE ARE LITERALLY GIVEN A SCENE OF KIM BEING SUCH AN INSENSITIVE JACKASS TO TAUNT MAX OVER NEEDING CLASSES!? 

THEY EXPLICITLY HAD HIM SCREAM AT KIM IN ANGER FOR HIM TO STOP AND HIM TO JUST SHRUG IT OFF BY ASKING MAX TO LAUGH A LITTLE!!! HOW DID THESE TWO SOMEHOW BECOME CLOSE ENOUGH FRIENDS FOR MAX TO AGREE TO WORK WITH KIM ON CONFESSING TO CHLOE IN DARK CUPID!? SINCE WHEN WAS HAVING A LAUGH THIS FUCKING IMPORTANT TO KIM AT ALL!?!?! 

I am literally too fucking angry to even go for all caps. This is nonsense taken to the NTH degree. Making Chloe cartoonishly evil does not make her more unlikable, it is bad writing. Making Kim so fucking stupid he doesn't get what "confessing feelings to him" means and being convinced to go along with a prank because he's too fucking stupid to understand what's going on is bad writing. THIS ENTIRE EPISODE is bad writing. I just... I am not even gonna pretend to tolerate this. 

Trying to be FUCKING self aware about Marinette's future obsession about confessing DOES NOT FUCKING WORK WHEN SHE LITERALLY NEVER HAS HAD THAT FUCKING PROBLEM WITH LUKA!!!

See, what makes all this bullshit utter nonsense is that, by all rights, if ANY OF THIS, the backstory in general, took place... then MARINETTE SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COME WITHIN A HUNDRED FEET OF EITHER KIM OR CHLOE!! WHY IN THE WORLD IS SHE WILLING TO EVEN BE IN THE SAME ROOM AS THE TWO OF THEM IF THEY HURT HER LIKE THIS!? WHY IS SHE ABLE TO BE CIVIL WITH KIM WHEN HE HAS NOT APOLOGIZED OR EVEN REALIZED WHAT THE FUCK HE DID WAS WRONG IN NEARLY A FUCKING YEAR!? Saw the OT3 ask and was curious-

Context: Clearly 'some work' would need to be done especially if you feel kike humoring *waves at S5* but do you think chloadrinette has thruple potential? There's all kinds of connections between each member in several ways. Clearly more 'aspirational' than 'oh this is obvious from canon.'

I feel like up until Adrien renounced Chloe completely as a friend, a much easier argument could be made. After I feel like Chloe would need a few years to mellow out and as adults maybe they could find some common ground again. I'll divide my thoughts based on this cut off point

Before

Fundamentally, her 'redemption' is key to it working. Even pre season 5, she had a lot of problems

I think if Chloe stayed on the right path, I could see a throuple forming. Chloenette is largely no problem. I like that genre of sapphic romance, Chloe redeeming herself through acknowledging she likes Marinette and all that means for her world view. Marinette overcoming her anger with Chloe and giving her a second chance, seeing that Chloe is trying. It would be slow but I love the passion that can be found in that dynamic.

When it comes to Adrien and Chloe, it goes differently. For a long time Chloe was the closest thing he had to a friend and she wasn't a very good one as he'd learn. But he's always searching for the scrap of goodness, hoping if he likes her enough she'll magically become kind. It's why he could stand by her so long. Chloe would need some great upheaval, maybe finally realising her mother will never love her and in Adrien being there, the emotional vulnerability would draw them together.

Coupled with her feelings for Marinette already opening her mind and Marinette and Adrien inching closer together, they'd be on a crash course for something.

It would be tricky to write, a fine balancing act but just possible to imagine.

After

I think the reveal of the depth of Chloe’s bullying — and how Marinette is rightly traumatised by it prevents a similar redemption to lovers like above. Adrien would never go for it, knowing the depth of how Chloe hurt Marinette and Marinette could never forgive so soon. In the above, Chloe’s connections to them could facilitate a redemption but knowing what we know now, I wouldn’t want her redemption being reliant on the girl she tormented and the boy she took for granted.

So I imagine in our current canon, it could work if Chloe improved herself independently. That years have passed until they all cross paths again and Chloe is eager to make amends. She’s sort of hamfisted about it, makes Marinette think she’s not being genuine but through a continued demonstration of her sincerity and respect for them, she could probably endear herself to both of them. Adrien had to have seen something in her as a child, so he’d see that spark, crushed by a desire for her mother’s affection renewed. Marinette could finally get closer and again some of the tension would be there to propel forward something spectacular.

Overall, while I like the potential of Chloenette (pre-season 5) and there’s a charm to childhood friends to lovers, I definitely prefer other throuple ships to them. Kagami just checks all my boxes. I think it slightly comes from my own thoughts about Adrien. I sort of struggle seeing him dating anyone other than Marinette and this is in part due to headcanons of him being on the ace/aro spec and also the show’s writing of him as the deuteragonist and primary love interest. The show is from Marinette’s perspective primarily so the audience can’t think he could really be with anyone else. All the symbolism of the show centres around them as a balancing pair. However Marinette, being the protagonist, has connections to many people in a lot of depth. That’s why I ship her with many people (also her inherent bisexuality xD).

Kagami’s miraculous is a miraculous of adaptability, the dragon has three powers. The wind, the rain and lighting, and so she can be the nexus of space between the ying and yang that is Marinette and Adrien.

“Stuck in the past” is one of the best Chloenette fics I’ve ever read, I’m so pumped to see where the story goes!

I've shared before, but I had never really posted anything publicly before getting into Miraculous. "Stuck in the Past" is the second thing I've ever posted anywhere, and I honestly only started writing it when I ran out of Chloenette stories to read. We were starved for content, and I was so tired of waiting I said, "Screw it, maybe someone will see this story and post their own thinking they could do better."

I know that logic is flawed, but that was my opinion of myself as a writer at the time. Everyone out there leaving positive comments will never know how much of a positive impact they've had on my mental health and self-image.

So chloenette is a rare ship i like but not in a usual way

It's not a forever ship defo, but like it teaches them life lessons and leaves them hurting and still good friends somehow

They leave a part of their heart with each other and let it grow that way.

Because we all know neither of the girls are free from flaws and they couldn't be. But also, they're unaware of the actual flaws

So here's hc part 1 instead of that mha one, which is in draft cz when have i ever written a short story

I'd like to start with a ladybug reveal. This bit is based on another fic where the first person lb reveals to is chloe.

The reveal goes like this: lb tries to correct qb nicely. As in she tells her. Sure some yelling is involved.

Lb's earings beep and she sees that chloe is FUMING so she tells her Not To Get Akumatised while she is off to recharge her kwami

Meanwhile, an akuma attacks chloe. But lb told her to be responsible. To be a hero. A role model.

Lb returns to the sight of chloe shattering the akuma masque thing. She is so shook that chlo has to remind her to purify the akuma. (Forgive me if the akuma is automatically purified upon shattering cz idr)

Lb didn't know it was possible to resist the akuma this way. There has been no precedent. Forgetting all the fretting she did with tikki while detransformed, she walks up to chloe. To look at her. Really look at her. Capable, independent, strong.

"Chloe. Look, i don't know why i gave you the miraculous. I saw it and of all the people i knew in the world, i picked you."

"You, who has bullied me for years. Yes. We know each other. You hate me. I have hated you all this while. And yet, i saw the bee miraculous, learned about its powers and immediately chose you."

"You are sharp, and you can disarm your victim with just stinging words. I have personally been a victim to you. I know exactly how capable you are, I've seen you play heroes with sabrina. I just didn't see you past your superiority complex."

What would you think if Chloe and Audrey heard rumours about the way they were going to be portrayed in Astruc’s new movie, so they went back to Paris in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the movie from being completed? Then an evilized villain (maybe a wishmaker-like villain or maybe even a villain that's unrelated to the butterfly miraculous) caused Chloe and Zoe to switch bodies somehow, and nobody fully understands what's going on, so Zoe (in Chloe's body) is taken by Audrey back to New York, despite Zoe desperately trying to explain things. But Chloe enters a fugue state (heavily due to trauma caused by the neglect of her parents) and genuinely thinks she's Zoe, and is even able to recall many of the things Zoe did due to being in Zoe's body. The class thinks “Zoe's” change in behavior is due to the psychological effects of method acting, since “Zoe” is playing Chloe in Astruc's new movie, but they gradually convince “Zoe” to let them help her relearn how to be “herself” again. Meanwhile, in New York, Zoe is trying to get back to Paris, but when she gets there, “Zoe” thinks she’s there to try to hurt Marinette.

Eventually, after listening to “Chloe”, Marinette starts to suspect that “Chloe” might be telling the truth, so she decides that she must test “Chloe” and “Zoe”. She fakes being in danger to see how they react. “Zoe” reacts slightly faster than “Chloe”, so Marinette comes to the conclusion that “Chloe” is lying and that “Chloe” has an evil and manipulative plan. Marinette thinks that “Chloe” must have picked up a few tricks from Lila, because she thinks no version of Chloe could possibly react faster than Zoe when it comes to protecting her. So Audrey takes “Zoe” back to New York again to “correct” her after “Zoe” fails to convince anyone of the truth.

10 years later, “Zoe” gets seriously injured after fighting a villain when Ladybug isn’t around, which causes “Zoe” to not have long to live. Then Ladybug accidentally stumbles upon the truth about “Zoe” while trying to help “Zoe” using magical powers. Ladybug decides that the moral thing to do is to switch Chloe and Zoe back to their original bodies. Once Zoe gets her body back, she blames Chloe for her impending death and for leaving her with 10 years of loneliness, while Chloe got off scot-free. When Lila gets defeated, Zoe steals the Butterfly Miraculous to get her hands on Ladybug and Catnoir’s miraculouses, hoping to “make things right”. Zoe gets defeated by the heroes (including Chloe, who has gotten her memories back) and Ladybug manages to cure Zoe’s injuries.

Remember, Astruc keeps acting like he’s the victim when there are a lot of times when he’s answered simple questions like this.

What exactly is with Astruc’s vendetta against Lukloe shippers in particular? Yeah, it’s a popular ship with both characters, but you would think he would take more issue with ships like Chloenette, Chlobrina, and Chlodrien, given how Chloe’s more problematic moments have been related to Marinette, Sabrina, and Adrien respectively.

It’s also strange that referenced her staying with Mylene’s parents when a recurring fan trope is her becoming Ms. Bustier’s child instead. The dude can’t even reference Chloe redemption fics right while insulting the writers of those stories.

Another one for the plot holes list, I think, but isn’t Adrien ever growing harem basically this? Like, why would there be a need for the majority of the key characters NEED to be in love with him? Especially since we don’t have a contest as for WHY? Kagami only managed to break up with him in SEASON 4 and even then, "Riposte" her would’ve NEVER dated him. Lila is a plot device to create drama. The Chloenette rivarly is fueled by him and the love square.... you know (no interaction).

Chloe makes sense given how they're childhood friends. Plus he's rich and famous and thus the only one worthy of her/the one only she is worthy of.

Kagami sort of makes sense from the viewpoint that she is also a rich kid with a problematic parent who can understand him, and narratively speaking, the story needed a love rival for Marinette who actually stands a chance as Chloe (being the obvious bully character) obviously wasn't to be considered a legitimate option in canon.

Lila, however, makes little sense. Sure, it could be the same issue as Chloe in that he's rich and famous, but...well, we already have Chloe for that. If they were going to stick to a redemption for Chloe, it'd give cause for Lila to step in and essentially replace her as the "evil non-option".

There is one other issue, however. Basically, why would anyone know or care who Adrien is in the first place? I know that Paris is one of the fashion capitols in the world, but does the average civilian in Paris keep up with the modeling world so much that they would recognize a teen model on the street on sight? To be fair, he is apparently wearing his same modeling clothes from all his photoshoots everywhere, but still... Would they actually approach him for autographs and try to chase him down?

...and why is he not only the only model we ever see, but also plastered EVERYWHERE across the city?

“Miraculous Ladybug!”

The black and red spotted handbag spun off into the atmosphere, dazzling the city with bright lights and reversing the damage of the most recent akuma (a poor retail worker who’d had enough and had gone on a rampage through town, turning people into merchandise). Not that you could even see the repairs, given how the rain was still basically just a sheet of water.

Ladybug turned to Chat Noir, offering him a smile through the storm. “Pound it,” they chorused, bumping fists.

“As much as I love our hangouts, m’lady,” Chat said, leaning on his staff with a grin, “if we stay out much longer, we might drown.”

Ladybug snorted and took a step towards the edge of the roof, opening her mouth to respond.

She felt it – the moment her foot hit the loose roof tile. The way the slickness of the rain dragged it, and her, towards to the edge. She fumbled for her yo-yo, eyes wide, but her hand slipped away as her back hit the roof and her teeth clacked in her mouth.

Chat’s pole flung itself in front of her and she swung for it, felt the cold metal slide away from her fingers in the torrential storm, and the world dropped from under her.

Falling in movies took forever. In real life, it was seconds. Without her super suit, she knew she would’ve been much worse off. As it was, her ankle flared in pain as she hit the alleyway pavement and she gasped, instantly curling over herself and clinging to the obviously broken appendage.

Chat Noir landed next to her in a panic, his back shielding her from the street. “Shit, shit, are you okay?”

“Absolutely not,” Ladybug gasped.

Chat shifted, glancing behind them. “Claws in.”

“Spots off.”

Adrien set a hand on Marinette’s back and pulled out his phone as Tikki and Plagg dove into Marinette’s purse for food. “I’ll call Gilbert, get him to pull the car around. I’m sure he’s looking for me anyhow,” he snorted. “We’ll take you to the hospital and call your parents there.”

Marinette thumped her head back on the brick behind her. “Ugh. Even in my fucking costume, I’m still somehow a klutz.”

Adrien snickered, easing her to her good foot and letting her lean heavily against him while he put his phone to his ear. “I’m saying nothing, Chloe is gonna give you enough of an earful for both of us.”

“Aw, fuck.”

“You fell off a roof?!” her girlfriend whisper shrieked as she stormed into the hospital room.

Marinette was somehow not shocked that Chloe had gotten to the ER faster than her parents – that girl could be scary when it came to traffic.

Adrien, lounging in the corner with Plagg asleep on his shoulder, snorted. “The official story is she fell off the curb. But yes, of course she had to do it after she fixed the city. I’ll give you two a second.”

He took Plagg and left, leaving Chloe to bolt to Marinette’s side and brush her bangs off her forehead, nose wrinkling. “Babe, you’re soaking wet,” she whined. “Didn’t these dumb nurses try to dry you off at all?”

Marinette rolled her eyes and grabbed at Chloe’s hand, kissing her knuckles softly. “I’m fine,” she promised. “Really. Just a little sore, but once I get through surgery and have some Tylenol I’ll be fine.”

“You fell off a roof,” Chloe hissed again, gesturing to Marinette’s very black and blue foot. “You are NOT fine.”

“I was Ladybug at the time.”

“And you STILL BROKE IT.”

“Touché.”

Chloe rolled her eyes and looked at Tikki in exasperation. “Back me up here.”

Tikki giggled and shook her head. “Oh no, I know better than that. I’m gonna go find Plagg and Adrien.”

She bolted at Marinette’s nod, and Chloe sighed, pushing her forehead against Marinette’s. “Don’t scare me like that,” she whispered.

Marinette bit down a protest and lifted her chin to press a kiss to Chloe’s forehead. “I’m sorry.”

“Oh, you will be. Especially when you’re on those horrid, horrid, crutches.”

“I swing around on a yo-yo every day, how hard can crutches be?”

Very hard, as it turned out.

They hurt her back and her palms and her fingers and her armpits, they were clunky, and one wrong move had them toppling over.

Her father drove her to school and helped her ease up the stairs and into the building before heading back home. It was only then that Marinette realized just how many stairs there were in her school.

“All right, Dupain-Cheng, let’s go.” Chloe’s voice was all the warning Marinette got before she was being swooped up bridal style with a yelp, clinging to her girlfriend’s neck as Adrien, directly behind her, caught her crutches with a sly grin.

“Y-You-! I’m…I can-!”

“Absolutely not,” Chloe protested, “no way. You’re being carried and you’ll like it.”

Marinette squeaked and pressed her face into Chloe’s shoulder, face burning by the time they got to Miss Bustier’s room and she found that Adrien had switched seats with Chloe, and Nino was now sitting next to Alya. “You guys didn’t have to switch everything around for me!” she complained as Chloe settled her into Nino’s former seat, complete with chair cushion and stool to prop her foot on.

“Girl, she would kill us if we didn’t,” Alya said with a roll of her eyes. “And she didn’t even have to threaten us, we wanted to help.”

“Well thanks, but not EVERYONE had to switch their seats!”

“If you think for a second I’d let Adrikins help you and not me, you’re insane,” Chloe scoffed. “These losers have no idea what they’re doing, and I’m not going to let them get you in even worse shape.”

Adrien just looked confused. “Um. I’m sorry?”

“Apology accepted.”

Chloe planted herself in Adrien’s old seat, her smile bright and mischievous, warm in a way that made Marinette flush and stammer the way she used to when she first realized she was crushing on the girl. “You’re stuck with me at least until you’re healed, Dupain-Cheng. Better get used to it.”

Her kiss was quick and light, and Marinette barely had time to register it before Chloe raising her hand to shout out, “Here!” to Miss Bustier’s roll call.

She did, however, take the opportunity to reach her own hand out and lace their fingers together under the table. If she was going to sit next to her girlfriend and be distracted and in pain for the next two months, she should at least get to hold her hand.

hi more miraculous ladybug thoughts, this time about chloe and marinette and why i really like that ship (though generally my favorite ml ship is big poly mess)

you ever think about how similar cloe and marinette really are? the pettiness, the jealousy, the obsessiveness, the manipulation-- marinette doesnt manipulate people as often as chloe and she doesnt go after her parents but gosh she can be really manipulative at times. see: basically any episode she gets jealous of adrien. ignoring chloe's actually good advice about vanisher, the way she treated kagami on the scavenger hunt thing, etc etc. like, in a sense, i can kind of understand how it was so easy for lila to get the class to distrust marinette because there is a grain of truth in there! (oh i need to do a lilapost too at some point :O)

like, they're super similar people deep down it seems to me. the main difference is that cloe has audrey bourgeois who's been really really bad for her, where marinette has in a sense two mayor bourgeoises for parents? tom and sabine are doting and permissive and sweet and the mayor seems the same way, right? the difference is that cloe learned from her mom to coldly take advantage of that where marinette learned to be more like that.

consider too how much progress chloe seemed to be making in becoming a better more thoughtful person instead of just thoughtlessly and desperately seeking attention (it doesnt matter if they hate you if they all say your name, natch.) right up until marinette got chloe's mom to stay. in marinettes mind, like, helping chloe reconcile with her mom was a good thing but gosh looking at it from my side its maybe the worst thing marinette could possibly do to chloe. chloe's mom is *awful* to her, and its really no wonder chloe behaves the way she does. shes hurting, her mom is horrifically emotionally abusive, and its just... chloe just wants to be loved. even if she denies it in an insecure, *i* know im great fuck all of you sort of way. she just wants people to notice her.

(sabrina clearly has a whole host of her own issues, god. that level of enabling is horrifying and i really worry about her)

what chloe needs in her life is someone who can guide her without rolling over at chloe's first sign of resistance. and this is where i make the case that *giving* chloe the bee miraculous would have been really good for her. see, think about how often tikki guides marinette to be less obsessive or less jealous or less vindictive. tikki being generally present has been really good and helpful for marinette, right?

if chloe had pollen just generally in her life, she would have a guide who can like help her be better! shed have someone who paid attention to her as, like, a big sister or mom or whatever! (idk what pollens like beyond that she generally seems chill) like a chloe who kept position of the bee miraculous would be given what she needs to grow, a chloe who has her mom back in her life is basically completely blocked from growing (how can she if the only way to make her mom pay attention to her seems to be imitation?)

anyway, i feel really bad for chloe as it stands in canon. queen bee was kind of her lifeline, and more and more often she was completely shut down by marinette. i dont want to make it sound like marinette was unreasonable in this, she *did* have alright reasons, and more than that her hypocrisy in her treatment of chloe as opposed to, say kagami (sure your identity isnt a secret but heres the dragon miraculous in a pinch anyway) is also understandable given chloe's treatment towards marinette-- but understandable doesnt mean that what shes doing isnt hurting chloe and perpetuating this antagonistic cycle between them. if marinette was really some kind of perfect everyday ladybug then shed be able to, if not forgive, then at least recognize her feelings towards chloe and the way they cloud her judgment and work to account for that, but marinette is painfully human. and so is chloe. and its tragic.

double anyway i think chloenette is a very fun and dramatic ship with a lot of great potential for interesting stories.
