Thoughts on eva my friend eva yan...

ms. yan our dear friend eva yan....

- i kind of wish patho 1 was able to model long hair her character concept is neat ;)

- honestly i like her p1 outfit its fun and something i would wear in summertime if it worked with my gender. lightweight and breathable. cannot say the same for her p2 clothes which must be Uncomfortable (not to mention. very bad on several other points)

- seriously i lie on my side on things all the time and wouldnt be able to bear so many drapery items… they cut in

- this is INCREDIBLY tangential but her associated animal being a deer makes me think of my middle school summer camp where deer would regularly jump the 7ft fence and go absolutely nuts in the chaparral trying to get back out

- lot of thoughts about how connected she is with the other bound. eva has maybe the largest friend group (well deserved) among patho characters and her relationships with other characters make up such a large chunk of p1 content! wish we got to see more interactions and more of the fallout with them post-bachelor day 7 :(

- related to that its so neat how she’s on the line between utopians and humbles! and a lot of her seems to be acting as a bridge or connection between the two factions (see also: parallels btwn daniil and yulia) and hospitality and doing things for the idealistic good of others even if their actual effects are not great (again. bach day 7). just immense empathy and kindness and drive to do good that gets rushed into mistakes

- i’ve had exactly two conversations with her in patho 2 so far and i didnt like em much… there were a disconcerting amount of options to be rude but outside of that her characterization is so wildly different from what i think made her interesting in p1.

- her dream though? fascinating i LOVE the imagery. what does it all mean….

6- Favourite run of your favourite team? I haven't finished a lot X-men runs, and I'm probably biased because it was my first introduction to X-men, but Astonishing X-men was really good (Whedon is still trash tho)

Latine hot take: a lot of latines (esp if they're involved in anglo communities in social media) need to reevaluate what race means to them and the context of their country. Like i technically can say im mixed bc my dad is brown but im extrenely white passing and that's what really matters here in Arg. And a lot of white (passing) latines treat race as like, a label they can take if they feel like it when using tumblr/twitter/etc. But are you really affected by racism? Do you face colorism?

I don't want misunderstandings so just to make it clear: this isn't about latines living in the US. I'm specifically talking about the context of Latin America

yes, yes, yes. the “we are all the same, all mixed” is getting a new line of thoughts in here and thats fucking dangerous. I’ve seen people claim that they are person of color, that they are indigenous and.........ma’m u don’t care about indigenous people and their issues in our country. u are seen as another white here. if you want to get in touch with your ancestors nobody is stopping you but know your place and your privilages. whitepassing, 98% of the time doesnt apply here. white and whitepassing latines were part of the problem in history. people know this but they find some kind of comfort/brownie points in social media saying that, because they love to pretend that they can and they don’t want to face the many privilages that they have. im praying to not find shit like “#decolonize! stop calling yourself latino thats a colonist term!!~” in those circles because. shut up. u never faced racism in your life lmao. learn what is your place in those conversations. this is the only times i use the “whitepassing” term for myself, to call them out on their bullshit.

Chase and victor should have ended up together the chemistry is THERE but APPARENTLY im the only one with eyes

not a hot take but the original art style makes me wanna scream especially the coloring like god. it looks bad folks.

Rainbow Rowell’s run started as my favorite but as it’s gone on I’ve had more and more issues with it:

turning the staff of one into a person and the whole deal Nico made with it was just. not a good choice imo. I think part of what makes the staff of one fun is we don’t know how it works and we don’t have to. Making it a person adds some uncomfortable implications that i Dont Enjoy

Victor and Gert. I really don’t see them as a couple with any kind of chemistry and it feels like just an attempt to pair off the cast. It also reduces a lot of Victor’s arc about bodily autonomy to just “h wanna hold girlfriend” rather than his own story.

overall i think once i heard someone say that Rainbow Rowell is a “fix it” writer in that she’s trying to fix everything and pair everyone off but I think sometimes in explaining things that don’t need to be explained the comic becomes worse, not better. the industry is messy and holes are just part of it. I really did love how she handled alex though, and the fucking fashions in that run. Iconic

the tv show kinda ruined Chase’s arc by making him already a tech genius rather than his much cooler comic book arc where he literally is a jock with no interest in tech who has to learn in order to help his friends even though it’s hard for him, and eventually does become very skilled at tech not cause he had a natural gift but because he worked hard. Thats a really rare story in comics and it’s part of why I love comics chase. 

controversial again but I love alex wilder. He’s a character that thinks of the world without comic book logic and makes the audience think like. what if this actually was the fucking choice they had to make. Also i love assholes who come back from hell

There should have been an arc w Xavin and Victor getting to know each other and Xavin learning to not be kinda terrible to him cause he was a robot. There was potential for growth and an interesting story but Xavin disappeared off the face of 616 please bring them back….
