You think Chirutha is a nightmare movie? (I mean, I kinda agree lol)

But let's have a conversation about this babe

Let me give some context:

I'm 7 yo. I'm browsing tv in the summer sundays when a lot of hit movies used to premiere back then.

And Chirutha is flashing.

It's by Puri Jagannath. The music.... Oh my the music.... Ram Charan's debut.

The horrid white suit and the sprinkled racism. The beach which is a character in itself.

The godawful straw hat (which i was scared would make a cameo in Magadheera but thankfully didn't)

The garbled storyline.

Did I mention the music?

And yet I was sat in front of that tv for 3 hours along with ads because I was 7 yo. And I still didn't like it one bit despite watching till end credits got over and the next movie started.

And that's how Chirutha became my nightmare movie.

The funniest thing about Indian cinema is that you will be middle aged to geriatric take on roles of people in their 20s to 30s. Chiranjeevi told his granddaughter not to call him tata (granddad) and instead call him chirutha (cheetah) cause he felt too young to be called a grandfather. He is an old man in his 60s.

First of all, let's watch this fighting scenes sequence. There is a lot of whump here. I would advice you to watch the entire clip, but if you are a cherry picker, that's my guide for you.

02:20 - during the prison fight, his face cover is torn off. A perfect moment of beauty reveal, which I somehow find irresistably whumpy. And it's softly implied that Charan was raped by the man whose ass he had so royally kicked. Unleash you imagination.

06:15 - Charan is rudely grabed from behind and held by the goons of his sworn enemy. Of course, he frees himself and beats the crap out of them.

11:20 and on - Charan is brutally beaten by his girlfriend's father's goons. Nice acknowlrdgement tothe future father-in-law!

25:02 and on - my favorite! Charan gives himself in for his girlfriend's life, tied, manhandled, interrogated, beaten, face bloodied, hunted. "Chirutha" is a real whump fest.
