i feel fairly certain prime had absolutely no intention of making chipped catra kill adora. nah. if anything, he chipped catra hoping he could cause adora to accidentally kill catra out of reflexive instinct.

like how catra takes a gnarly swift swipe with her claws at adora's neck just seconds after launching at her. she misses the first big swing and i can't help thinking it's no chance or luck on adora's part that catra's claws don't connect either.

cause he knew how badly it would break adora if he could force her to kill catra. i mean, just look at her expression after she reacts to catra's jump attack with a heavy punch to her face. adora had only said it moments before - "i don't wanna hurt you" - and she meant it. and i think prime was doing his best to take advantage of that.

he was pushing adora into a corner, tryna freak her out enough to do just that - hurt catra. then at some point i think adora gets extra stressed cause she realizes if prime can't get her to hurt catra - he'll just make catra hurt herself.

hurt adora? sure. maim adora? why not. but prime needed her alive. catra though? catra had gotten one over on him & laughed in his face. i think using her for this was just prime tryna have a lil fun killing two birds with one stone. but quite literally for catra.

i think he was just hoping to kill adora's spirit by making her do it. but adora strove to snap catra out of it & catra fought that chip till her entire body was shaking from how hard she was trying to keep control. the chip's influence over catra just couldn't compete with the power of their love for each other.

which was "disappointing. some creatures are destined only for destruction."

implying, to me, that since catra broke through the chip & adora obviously had helped get through to her on an even deeper level, prime no longer saw catra as a bargaining tool or of any use in controlling adora. he'd lost any kinda firm hold on catra's mind.

so he decides to go ahead and get rid of her. if he couldn't get adora to do it, he still wanted to make her watch while he did.

and eh -- big mistake. huge.

anyway! if you cant give catra just the benfit of the doubt i mean like. She tried to change.. Glimmer help her see that she wanted to change for the better. and what did catra do? she saved glimmer from horde prime

then we see that because catra did this, horde prime was very angry....

and then catra got chipped.......... adora offers to take her home. S1-4 Catra would have said no at any cost, but S5 catra is changing for the better

because of this again, horde prime gets angry again and then snap..just killed catra on the spot

adora then jumps down to save catra (ngl watching this, i throught adora basiclly just killed herself but u know she lived)

now we have catra back, the one how wants to change (FOR THE BETTER i must add) Entrapta helps to get the chip out of catras neck, while the ship is going through a belt in space.... Catra trys to say no for this help, knowing that she had hurt entrapta and sent her to beast island.. Entrapta doesnt even care and helps catra, very sorry when she hits one of catras nerves in her neck..

s1-4 catra would have prob attacked entrapta, but s5 catra qucikly calms downs so entrapta could contune

the chip gets removed, and catra sees that entrapta doesnt hate her...and before entrapta could leave, catra stops her

heres the thing i must point out too. S1-4 catra could say sorry or smth like that, but s5 catra says sorry and means it... PART 2 LATER CUZ I NEED A BREAK NGL!!!!!!!!!

every time i could remember catra touching where the chip was - at times, merely at the mention of horde prime's name. and a bonus of adora putting her hand there too - just tryna alleviate some of the pain of looking at the first four ok i'm sorry and ily i promise

So i re watched "She-ra S5" and i just died when i saw this

Turns out, winning could feel different.

Light warmed Catra's face, the heat welcome after the chill of being down in the Heart. The endless night of Etheria's last stand had finally given way to the first morning of the new tomorrow so at least some of this was probably actual sunlight, but as far as Catra was concerned it was all Adora. Her magic, her love, the infinite brightness of her presence having finally brought the two of them out of the darkness together.

She blushed, thinking of the kiss they'd shared down in the Heart and everything it might mean for them now. Not that there was any time to explore it at the moment, not with the chaos that had erupted with the death of Prime. What had started as a rush of relief, hugging and screaming in the utter disbelief that they'd actually done it, had slowly devolved into logistical chaos.
