Okay, so I thought Squidward and Plankton would be a good duo, and this all sort of developed from there, really.

ALSO: before I start, I just want to say I'm really proud of this idea, so I'd appreciate it if no-one tried to use it for themselves w/o permission from me first, at least. Thank you. :))

So you've got Squidward who's just sort of his regular mentality and then Plankton who firmly believes he's an evil genius:

Plankton: And after everyone loves Chum, you, Karen and I (I'll just make a note rq, this was before I developed the idea enough, so he would really also mention Chip and Pearl here, too) will RULE THE WORLD!!

Squidward: How are people like you allowed to vote?

Plankton: I'm not.

Squidward: Figures.

Plankton: KAREN! SQUIDWARD! I'VE GOT IT! We'll frame Krabs for tax fraud and steal the formula while he's in court!

Squidward: What do you mean "frame"? He does!

And then you've also got Squidward and Chip bonding over mutual hate of noise:

Chip: I wish they'd just shut up.

Squidward: You and me both, kid.

Pearl's been hired as a waitress (she and Squidward have a stronger uncle-niece bond in this au than in the show bc it's so sweet, so she's happy to work there, obv Mr Krabs isn't)

Plankton and Karen argue a lot, but they'd have more wholesome moments and get along a little better:

And it's mainly just Plankton dragging Squidward (and sometimes Chip or Pearl, less so Karen) around on plans to steal the formula.
