Insiders Guide to a Relaxing Family Trip to Martha’s Vineyard  Our kids at the Edgartown Lighthouse. Things to do on MV with kids: 1. Martha’s Vineyard Camp meeting Association (MVCMA) 2. Take a walk to the Edgartown Lighthouse.  3. Take a ride to the Aquinnah Cliffs and climb the near by lighthouse.  View of the Aquinnah Cliffs from the lookout. Get there early as parking is limited and there is a police presence for ticketing. The lighthouse is free for children to climb up and $5.00 per adult. This access requires a short hike. Please note that this section of this beach is an unofficial nude beach during the in season. This picture was taken in September. 4. Jump the waves at South Beach in Edgartown. 5. Try to get the Brass Ring at the Historic Flying Horses Carousel in Oak Bluffs.  If you get the brass ring, you win a free ride.  Free Flat Rate Shipping at US.Havaianas.com  6. Fly a kite and play tag at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs.  7. Take a stroll and shop on Circuit Ave in Oak Bluffs. The locals are friendly and nothing scream MV like a leisure stroll on Circuit Ave. 8. Pack a picnic (or order seafood from the nearby shacks) and watch the sunset at Menemsha Beach.     Menemsha Sunset. 9. Go on a light house tour of the Island. - East Chop - Oak Bluffs - Aquinnah Lighthouse  Aquinnah Lighthouse: second oldest lighthouse in the United States. Do you know where the oldest is? Scroll down for answer. - West Chop Lighthouse - Vineyard Haven 10. Go out after 7 PM and stand in line at the Back Door Donuts for warm donuts and apple fritters. The apple fritters are big enough to enjoy for breakfast the next day.  11. Learn about the African American History on the island and spend go to the Inkwell Beach. If you go early in the morning, you’ll get to see the Inkwell Polar Bears tradition in action. It’s an amazing sight.  Inkwell Beach Polar Bears sign. Look to the left of the sign and you will see the Polar Bears in action. 12. Go to Joseph Sylvia State Beach and if you are brave jump off the “jaws bridge.” 13. Check out the live lobsters and enjoy affordable seafood at The Net Result in Vineyard Haven. 14. Have lunch at the Black Dog Tavern and explore their various stores and water view.       15. On your way back from Aquinnah Cliffs stop by the Chilmark General Store for the best locally sourced pizza on the island. Sit on the front porch like a local and enjoy just being on Vineyard Time. 16. Take advantage of the lobster special at Coop de Ville in Oak Bluffs. 17. If your kids love airplanes, then you won’t want to miss an opportunity to have breakfast at Plane View. You can enjoy your meal while your kids are amazed by the airplanes taking off and landing. 18. On your way to South Beach, stop by Katama General store for one of a kid island treats. 19. Check the tide chart and go sea glass hunting at low tide in Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven beaches. We have found amazing sea glass, sea pottery and even sea marbles on MV.  20. Enjoy the sunset, music and seafood at Nancy’s Restaurants. You can’t go to MV and not sit and take in all that OB has to offer while dining at Nancy’s.  Answer: The oldest lighthouse in the United States is the Boston Light House located at the Boston Harbor Islands.
