Hey! Then in hoo it is mentioned that Leo has dealt with a lot of bullies and horrible people since Esperanza died, I could ask for something like him and his s/o going to do something normal like shopping and end up running into one of these people And they keep making fun of Leo so his s/o defends him and comforts him or something like that(sorry if it seems confusing, English is not my first language haha)
first of all your english is great babes!! not confusing at all <33
ah yes. the bitchy girls. the asshole mean girls who have a fucking superpower for sniffing out adhd and autism and other neurodivergent traits like fucking blood hounds. the devils in lululemon leggings and nike sneakers who worship the ground hailey bieber walks on and keep their marc jacobs tote bags full of knives to stab anyone and everyone in the back with the moment the see an opportunity to.
those girls.
Leo's been able to avoid them for a while. Drew was the worst at camp, but she was a watered down version of them - Leo realized at some point that Drew adopting those traits was her own way of dealing with shit, and the more time she spent at camp since Piper became head of cabin, the more chilled out she's gotten.
There were barely any mean girls at MIT, none he had trouble avoiding at least. But now he's here, back in the real world, shopping for groceries for your little apartment you have together. And in the real world, fresh out of nursing school, is Emily. The exact same Emily from the school he went to before camp half blood. At 15, Leo went through a lot of shit. School was hell, his foster family was so bad he ran away enough to be sent to the wilderness school, and he was at one of the lowest points of his entire life.
You don't know who she is, but from the look on Leo's face, the sudden, sharp drop in his energy, the way he starts picking at his hands and gets all jittery. He hopes he can get away with it, hopes she won't even recognize him.
"Oh my god... Leo Valdez?"
you grimace at her voice, the way she mispronounces his last name, and your hackles rise. She looks at you in shock, seeming to hold back a laugh.
"Wait, is he your boyfriend?"
She says it like it's some joke, like this whole thing is hilarious.
"He used to be so awkward!" she giggles, "Wow, you look exactly the same."
Leo can read you like a book, and he knows you are SO pissed off for him.
"Yeah," You say with an equally sarcastic smile, "I had no idea you guys were the same age, you look so much older. I never would have known you guys were in the same class."
She blanches a little, and you double down.
"Leo actually just graduated top of his class at MIT. He has, like, a dozen job offers already." You smile at him proudly. "So how about you, are you... doing anything?"
"Mhm." She nods, the humor suddenly gone. "Nursing school. I just started."
"Oh," you nod, glancing over at Leo and sharing a subtle look with him, "well, we better get going, we have some open houses to get to."
As you walk away, still close enough for her to hear, you mutter to Leo, stifling a smile.
"Wow. The mean girl to nursing school pipeline is real." You chuckle, "And like, she does know it's not 2016 anymore, right? Cause her eyebrows don't seem to..."
He's so surprised that after an interaction with her, after all these years, he actually feels... okay. Outside the shithole of high school, with you by his side, she doesn't seem nearly as intimidating as she had. He's not sure how you got him to realize that so quickly, but he realizes that there's nothing that feels that intimidating when you're by his side. And you're right, her eyebrows are just as awful as her personality.
#drabbles#leo valdez#leo valdez drabbles#leo valdez x reader#heroes of olympus#heroes of olympus x reader#heroes of olympus drabbles#no shade to anyone who does/still likes 2016 makeup and eyebrows /gen#and no shade to anyone in nursing school /gen#just using some small town mean girl archtypes yk#anyway yeah#once you break down that facade#leo is SO unthreatened#and he is forever grateful to you

you swap bodies with them for a day, you have to attend 12-step meetings with them, you have them as your parole officer, havethem as the Fake Date you bring to a family event, have to get stuck on a desert island for a week with them, and you have to sit next to them on a transcontinental plane flight
Jay, Cole, Nya, Zane, Lloyd, Kai
Oh dear. See people??? This is the standard that you should all be upheld to. There's a reason the two of us are soulmates!
I'm going to choose to swap bodies with Lloyd. For some reason I feel like we'll have the easiest time adjusting to each other’s bodies.
I am attending the meetings with Zane hands-down. If he comes then I won't have to pay attention to everything and he'll take notes for me so I won't have to do a damn thing!
Might be controversial, but I'm going to choose Kai as my parole officer! Something tells me that he would not care about what I was doing and he would be super chill about the whole thing. He might not even show up to the check-ins.
JAY IS THE FAKE DATE BECAUSE I WANT IT TO START AS FAKE DATING AND THEN TURN INTO REAL DATING! THE PIPELINE IS REALLLLLLLL
Spending the week on the deserted island with Nya! Practically, she can always produce more water to drink and I think that she would be a really good survivalist (I am not)
Which leaves Cole on the transcontinental flight. He would have good music, be super chill and would need the aisle seat which is great bc I hate the aisle seat!

Hello Rayne!
A bit more of a private one so of course, feel free to not answer if it crosses any boundaries.
Do you have tips to get adult life, day jobs and creative writing under one hat? (German saying, not sure if it translates to English at all lmao)
I've started my Bachelor's in a very non-creative field this week and it has been and is going to be very demanding in terms of time and energy. I've noticed that I get extremely drained and burnt out when I try to be creative after a long day. The ideas are there (sometimes even better than when I have more time) but the energy just... isn't.
I appreciate any advice you have and hope you're doing well! 💜 It's been cooling off here quite a bit, I've already had my first Chai today 👀🍵getting autumn-y
Heya lovely @sunlightrays!
A bit more of a private one so of course, feel free to not answer if it crosses any boundaries.
Aw, thanks for the head's up. Don't you worry, I'll go full dodge-ball acrobatic if I feel any uncomfortable curveballs thrown my way. As it stands, I'll do my best to offer support with my very humble input - PLEASE trash anything that doesn't resonate with you.
I've started my Bachelor's in a very non-creative field this week [...]
First off...
FAITO! Congratulations on taking on your Bachelor's degree (I recall you mentioning this was in the pipeline) - I'm wishing you every success for this chapter of your story, luv.
[...] and it has been and is going to be very demanding in terms of time and energy.
Gods, understandably. Please shore up on whatever you need; tea, coffee, the blood and tears of your enemies. You got this!
I've noticed that I get extremely drained and burnt out when I try to be creative after a long day. The ideas are there (sometimes even better than when I have more time) but the energy just... isn't. [...] I appreciate any advice you have ...
Right. I hear you. I'll do my damnedest to help -- but again, throw out anything that doesn't work for you. I'm spit-balling here, so just take what sticks.
How do you GET your energy? Would you consider yourself to be more extroverted or introverted? Maybe you're a combination of the two (ambivert)? Do you need alone time to refill your well, or do you require the energy of others to help recharge your battery?
What is FUN for you? What hobbies/downtime GIVE you energy?
What helps you to DECOMPRESS completely and switch off? Even if this isn't writing. Something that doesn't necessarily COST you energy (which writing does, even if it's a fun investment and pleasurable price) -- something where you are chilled, having fun, or resting...which brings me to...
What is REST for you? What is RECOVERY for you? What does that look like? What do you need to REST (which leads to recovery and hopefully more margin/capacity -- which allows for your empty well to accommodate creative energy again)?
What kind of WRITER are you? Do you fly by the seat of your pants and just enjoy rolling with whatever inspiration hits or do you like planning and plotting? Can you test the waters on a day you feel like you have some energy, and see how that leaves you feeling e.g. drained or lifted?
What I'm predominantly getting at here, is asking you to consider what GIVES you that energy back. What RESTORES to you the energy that isn't there (which your degree is currently consuming). I'm not sure what Bachelor's you're doing, so I won't and can't presume exactly what that costs you energy-wise (though it sounds like it costs you a lot, given what you described about feeling extremely drained and burnt-out).
I would advocate ENERGY RESTORATION. Which means, REST, RECOVERY, RECREATION, REMEDIAL PLAY. The light, easy, fun, restful, or joyful things that don't require you to invest too much of your energy. That can be alone or with others. It can be anything that works for you. It looks different for everyone, so it may take some experimentation or maybe you've got some go-to places, people, past-times or pleasures that are tried and tested?
This is where I'd start, sweetie. Looking to balance the scales by getting energy back so you don't end up in the flaming hell-pit of total burnout. The writing isn't going anywhere. It will wait for you to have the energy for it. Your degree will probably demand a lot of you right now, which is why sustenance for your creative energy (even if you have to stockpile it for a bit) is so important.
Do you have tips to get adult life, day jobs and creative writing under one hat? (German saying, not sure if it translates to English at all lmao)
Translates perfectly, no worries. As for me having tips...
No word of a lie. I am furniture crawling my ass along a very strange path at the moment. Getting adult life, day jobs, and creative writing under one hat depends on so many things; your financial situation, your personal capacity (mentally, emotionally, physically), your goals/desires, your needs and values, your UNMET needs/desires etc. It's a very individual journey, and the artist/creative path, however archetypal at times, is changing a lot in our modern landscape (which can be a very good thing).
The good thing is, creative writing can manifest in many different areas (copywriting, ghostwriting, editing, journalism, developmental media, blogging, vlogging, etc) -- again, I don't know your personal capacity, means, or margins, or what it may or may not require / cost you if you're balancing/sacrificing other areas of your life. Which is totally normal. I think work-life balance all at once is an overrated and unrealistic metric.
It would be so easy for me to say "follow your heart" and "do what you love" and do I advocate that? Abso-fuckin-lutely. So long as you're prepared for the TRADEOFFS and the COST. I think that's the biggest tip, luv. Getting real damn clear on what you are prepared to give up. And what you are NOT prepared to give up/compromise on? For whatever reasons. Zero judgement. It's what works for YOU.
So my tips are ASKING YOURSELF THE RIGHT QUESTIONS.
What do you want to get out of your creative writing? Do you want to do it professionally or just as a pleasure pursuit? Both are awesome.
Why are you taking your current degree in a non-creative field? Job security or genuine joy/interest for the field? If it's for joy/interest, it will cost a little less than if you're grafting without pleasure at all. Btw, no need to answer any of these questions, I'm literally brainstorming question suggestions with you to get CLARITY.
Clarity = awesome.
How can you balance your creativity against necessity/security/other job etc.? Do you need to cut yourself some slack and get the degree out the way before you decide that? Maybe you can dabble in creative writing as you go along and figure out how you regain and sustain your energy?
These kinds of questions can help a lot, especially when you're looking at your energetic capacity so you don't burnout.
I have no clue if any of this was helpful...it sure as hell went beyond my two cents, so I do apologise for the massive word-vomit of a response. I feel passionately about this, given my own god-awful experience with burnout, energy mismanagement, and the flaming brimstone underworld that kind of shit puts you in -- I would hate to learn you ended up there. Please be kind, patient, and gentle with yourself. You're embarking on a big quest here with your degree, which sounds like it demands a lot. May the writing, when you have energy for it, be a cosy non-demanding companion and a supportive compadre. Not a bloody albatross around your neck or a hellhound snapping at your heels. Writing is better when it's FUN. Hard, tiring, and frustrating 'maybe-I-need-a-safe-word' kind of fun...but worth it. Worth the investment (energy) it requires.
Please, please, please prioritise your rest and your recovery whenever you can, luv. I am sending super-charged positive vibes your way, with a gallon of tea. Autumn is a magical time, so I hope the chilly, crispy, colourful, chai-drinking vibes of this season nourish and support you. Ganbatte, my dear!

A lot of you guys have no idea... Really. You don’t. The accuracy is chilling. (TW Child Abuse/Homicidal Thoughts/Violence/Mental Illness/Depression)
People that think they know me: “You’re so nice and kind and have a strong sense of justice and fairness and wouldn’t hurt a fly. How could you possibly identify with that awful, angry, violent alien monster?”
Me: *Explains the time a year after leaving school I found myself sat opposite on a bus from the kid that two years prior stabbed me in the ear with a pencil and worse, then had the whole class that watched and laughed defending him saying he did nothing when I fought back, even though he permanently scarred my right eardrum and damaged my hearing, then used my reason for having to leave class early that day (my dad had a hospital appointment) and forced me to be kept behind by the teacher and punished for fighting, even though I was literally trembling with shock and pain and barely able to speak through my PTSD episode to ask to have my ear checked but being ignored.*
*Makes this exact face remembering imagining following him off and the permanent damage I was going to do to him if he gave me any additional reason or opening to and looked down at him like that the whole time leaving him squirming in his seat, terrified, unable to make eye contact while also saying to him with the exact same tone and pitch as in that shot and said the following word for word because that moment was burned into my brain with how much I look back on it years later scared with what I'm^ capable of doing to someone and how close I was to doing it*
“Hello, Michael... That’s you, aye? Yeah... That’s you. Like my new look...”
“... or am I too legal?”
____________________________________________
^ Yes, present tense. Because those wounds can only be managed since they don’t fully heal. I find myself getting very close once in a while to that violent 17 year old looking for relief from my grief and pain of what he and others like him did to the bright, friendly, happy, excited child with a promising future that walked into that school building and never came home.
The fact that they could figuratively kill that kid like that, drive the husk left behind to almost literally finish off the job and then walk away and live happy little lives with relationships and children and careers and good reputations and family support and nothing coming back to bite them ever while my world and future had completely crumbled and imploded boils in my veins to this day.
Over three dozen therapy sessions have helped with management. Hobbies provide an outlet. My career path is in the one that ultimately saved me where all others failed. Video games. The places where I could safely trigger catharsis.
But I still need to keep checking myself so I don’t become that scared and wracked with despair thrashing for someone vaguely related to the people that pushed me into the water to pull down and stop myself from drowning empty shell of a former being again.
Seeing it on screen that night I impulsively bought the tickets for seat M10 in Screen 12, hit me like two couch-sized arrows to the chest.
I didn’t think I would ever see it happen and be so accurate with something I didn’t make. I was making it. But it looks like I got beat to the punch.
And how haunting, but also how great it is to see. Someone in the pipeline between the firing of neurons and the firing of pixels empathised enough to make it realistic in the face of the convenience of a simple villain.
It may make him more scary because of how raw he is and people like me knowing what he’s capable of with that knowledge and experience of being there (especially after the end of Way Of Water where he’s in an even lower state), but it’s real.
I’m scared for Ritch as much as I’m scared for what he will do to others.
I wasn’t just being like “Oh, no, Lo’ak/Kiri! Don’t hurt Lo’ak/Kiri!”. I was at the other end of the gun/knife going “Don’t do it, man. It’s not gonna make it better. Crossing that line is a lot harder to come back from. Don’t do that to yourself just to get back at him. You’re a snake coiling yourself around a saw. YOU’RE BETTER THAN THIS!”
It’s the same with Neytiri grabbing Spider, too.
I think I need to drop this video down here before I consider this post done for now. I’ve still got a lot more to say, but that’s probably better saved for later.
But last word on it? Yeah. He better get a redemption arc... AND LIVE!
Because Christ knows there’s not enough characters like that in media for how many people are battling those demons IRL.
The more there are, the more conversations the real people can start.
Trust me, you don’t wanna keep sending the message that the only way to heal, repent and move forward after these kinds of thoughts and actions is to die.

Tunnel
A tunnel is an underground or undersea passageway. It is dug through surrounding soil, earth or rock, or laid under water, and is perfectly enclosed except for the two portals common at each end. A pipeline is not a tunnel, though some recent tunnels have used immersed tube construction techniques rather than traditional tunnel boring methods.
A tunnel may be for foot or vehicular road traffic, for rail traffic, or for a canal. The central portions of a rapid transit network are usually in the tunnel. Some tunnels are used as sewers or aqueducts to supply water for consumption or for hydroelectric stations. Utility tunnels are used for routing steam, chilled water, electrical power or telecommunication cables, as well as connecting buildings for convenient passage of people and equipment.
Secret tunnels are built for military purposes, or by civilians for smuggling of weapons, contraband, or people. Special tunnels, such as wildlife crossings, are built to allow wildlife to cross human-made barriers safely. Tunnels can be connected together in tunnel networks.

What are the Types of Ball Valves?
Ball valves are important parts of most industrial liquid and gas control systems. There is an expansive variety of ball valves available to meet diverse industrial requirements, each with its unusual set of features and benefits.
Ball valves are quarter-turn valves that have a pivoting ball inside the valve body with a hole plugged through the center. The ball’s movements control whether the valve is open or closed, and when the valve is closed, the ball entirely blocks fluid or gas flow through the valve. Ball valves made by industrial valve manufacturers are ordinary components of most industrial liquid and gas control systems. They are especially useful for applications where precise control and shutoff are essential, as they operate fast and are somewhat easy to automate.
Importance Of Choosing the Right Type of Ball Valve
Choosing the right sort of ball valve is crucial for providing proper function, reducing downtime, and increasing the across-the-board performance of industrial equipment. Within each type of ball valve, there are distinct deviations that suit distinct applications.
Factors that influence the sort of ball valve required for industrial applications comprise:
flow rate
pressure
temperature
corrosion resistance,
fluid or gas type.
Selecting the proper ball valve ensures that the valve can address the specific application’s conditions, staving off premature valve failure or malfunction, and conserving the efficiency of the system. Furthermore, determining the right ball valve can have an impact on maintenance costs, system safety, and energy consumption.
Ball Valve Internal
Ball valve internals direct to the elements inside the valve that control, and shut off the flow of fluid or gas. The main inner components of a ball valve made by the ball valve manufacturers contain the ball, seat, packing, stem, gasket, and sealing.
Ball Valves and their Uses
Ball valves can be used in an expansive range of industrial applications due to their high precision flow control and shut-off, low maintenance, and high durability. Some common usages of ball valves include:

The Ultimate Guide to Constructing an Ice Bath Water Chiller
Make sure you have the required abilities, information, and tools before starting to build an ice bath water chiller. This assignment might be challenging.
This is a generic manual that provides instructions on how to proceed.
Assemble the tools and supplies.
Before you start, make sure you have all of the necessary equipment and supplies. A water pump, a reservoir tank, copper or PVC pipes, insulation, a power source, a temperature controller, and more fittings and connections could be included in this. Verify that every item is appropriate for usage with water and that it can tolerate extremely cold temperatures.
Establish a chilling system.
Arrange the design and configuration of the chiller system. Think about where the pump and temperature controller are placed, where the pipes or tubing are located, and where the reservoir tank is located. Make sure it's easy to install and remove the system for cleaning and maintenance.
Assemble the reservoir tank.
The reservoir tank should be placed in a convenient area with easy access. Make sure everything is level and securely fastened to avoid spills or mishaps. As needed, drill holes for the water input and output fittings.
Install the tubing or pipes.
Attach the tubing or pipes to the water pump and reservoir tank. The precise arrangement will be specified in your design. Use the right fittings and connectors to guarantee a tight and secure connection. Compression fittings should be used when working with copper tubing for dependability and ease.
Give the tubes and pipelines insulation.
To reduce heat transmission and increase the effectiveness of the cooling process, insulate the pipes or tubing. Select water-safe insulation that can tolerate chilly temperatures. To secure the insulation, wrap it over the pipes or tubing using tape or ties.
Set the temperature controller in its proper place.
Attach the temperature controller to the chiller system. Connecting and setting up the controller is covered in the manufacturer's instructions. This will enable you to adjust and keep an eye on the proper temperature of the ice bath.
Connect the power source.
Attach the temperature controller and water pump to the power supply. Verify that the power source can meet the voltage and current needs of the components. Observe electrical safety regulations and, if necessary, seek expert advice.
Examine and modify the chiller.
Once the chiller system has been installed, add water to the reservoir tank and make sure the water pump and temperature controller are working properly. Make any required adjustments to the water pump's temperature and flow rate parameters to achieve the appropriate cooling effect.
Observe and uphold
Keep an eye out for wear indicators in the chiller system, leaks, and malfunctions. To guarantee the system's durability and functionality, clean and maintain it in line with the manufacturer's recommendations.
If necessary, consult a professional.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the building process, or if you are not sure whether you can finish the work safely, get advice and support from a qualified HVAC specialist or refrigeration professional.
It is vital to fully study and comprehend the fundamentals of refrigeration, as well as any relevant local laws or regulations governing the installation and use of such equipment, before starting to build an ice bath water chiller. It is imperative to adhere to safety protocols and best practices while handling electrical and water components. If in doubt, think about consulting an expert for assistance and guidance.

What Makes Food Grade Glycol Indispensable in F&B Operations?
In the dynamic landscape of F&B operations, that includes Beverages and juices, Breweries & Distilleries, Dairy & Ice Cream production, Packaged Food processing, Fish Processing Units, Pharmaceutical & Bulk Drugs manufacturing, Poultry facilities, and Vegetable Oil processing, innovations and efficiency are the keys to success. Among all essential components, one essential component that plays a crucial role in maintaining these standards is food grade glycol. Generally, Propylene glycol (PG) is generally considered and used as one. Recognized as safe by regulatory bodies like the FDA, it works as a heat transfer fluid (HTFs), widely used in diverse industries. Its high thermal conductivity, low viscosity, and non-toxic nature make it ideal for applications where heat transfer efficiency and safety are paramount.
Propylene Glycol ensures precise temperature control during chilling, ensuring optimum thermal stability at extreme temperatures. Its broad-spectrum compatibility with various materials, makes it a preferred choice for food-grade heat transfer systems. It stands as a reliable and efficient solution, ensuring both operational excellence and adherence to stringent health standards in food manufacturing processes.
How Propylene Glycol play an important role in the food and beverage industry?
In F&B industry, it's crucial to use HTFs that meet specific requirements for safety, performance, and regulatory compliance. This glycol is
Temperature Control in Processing, such as brewing, winemaking, and food processing, where controlling fermentation temperatures or chilling beverages, glycol systems offer precise control, ensuring optimal conditions for product quality and safety.
Adherence to Stringent Food Safety Regulations is non-negotiable in the F&B industry.
Heat Transfer Efficiency, due toits high thermal conductivity and low viscosity, facilitates rapid heat transfer across equipment and pipelines. This ensures uniform heating and cooling, improving process efficiency while maintaining product integrity and quality.
Frost and Ice Prevention, by lowering the freezing point of water-based solutions. This anti-freeze property ensures uninterrupted operations and prevents damage to equipment and infrastructure.
Versatility and Compatibility, with a wide range of materials commonly used in F&B equipment and infrastructure.
Only issue with this glycol is its corrosive nature! Over a period of time, it oxidizes into five organic acids, which chemically attack and corrodes the system metal, causing pitting, pinhole and stress cracking corrosion. Is there a solution?
Inhibited Propylene Glycol! What is it? It is a blend of glycol with an inhibitor package that ensures no oxidation of glycol over a considerable period of time. Its utilization spans various critical processes including immersion freezing, cooling liquids & and dairy products, fermentation and maturation cooling, carbonated beverage cooling, plastic bottle molding cooling, ice systems, single-fluid process cooling, and closed-loop water-based heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications. Its enhanced viscosity at lower temperatures, drives process cooling efficiency, as well as its freezing point suitable for aqueous solution applications. Importantly, it is non-toxic, ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards in F&B operations.
Inhibited Propylene Glycol, manufactured by Chemtex Speciality Limited under the brand name “TONO FROST” is a NSF certified HT1 formulation, that is considered safe even in instances of incidental food contact. Moreover, it is listed with FSSAI under Food Product Category 99 for Substances added to Food, further affirming its safety for use in food-related applications. By embracing glycol-based solutions, F&B professionals can navigate the complexities of their operations with confidence, ultimately delivering superior products to consumers worldwide.

How Do Bongs Work?
Bongs, also known as water pipes, have long been a source of mystery among smokers. For generations, bongs have been used to experience the delights of smoking plants and tobacco. But have you ever thought about how these complicated water pipelines work? In this in-depth look at bong mechanics, we’ll uncover the secrets behind their smooth hits.
The Essentials of a Bong
A bong is made up of four parts: a water chamber, a bowl, a downstream, and a mouthpiece.
The bowl holds the dry herbs or tobacco, and the mouthpiece allows you to inhale the smoke.
Filtration of Water
Water filtration is the key characteristic that distinguishes glass bongs from other smoking devices.
The smoke goes through the water in the chamber when you light the bowl and inhale.
Water cools the smoke, making it less irritating to your throat and lungs.
Percolation and diffusion
Percolators and diffusers are common additions to bongs that filter and chill the smoke.
Percolators are meant to break down smoke into tiny bubbles, increasing the surface area that comes into contact with the water.
This technique improves filtration and results in a smoother, cleaner impact.

Update: 11:54GMT Propellent loading has begun, takes about one hour 32 minutes, Launch scheduled at 01:00GMT with 20 minute launch window.
Launch of Starship IFT-2 or Starship 259 today at 01:00GMT, or that is the beginning of the launch window. As on the first test flight the plan is, should the vehicle survive, to splashdown both the booster and the ship after separation. The booster will conduct a powered splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico and the Ship will impact the sea off the Marshall Islands in Hawaii, it won't attempt a powered touchdown the flip manoeuvre for landing, it will just crash and be destroyed at that speed.
Currently (11:00) the propellent lines are chilling down in preparation for propellent loading to begin.
Since the first launch the design of the booster has been changed and the launch pad has been extensively modified after it was repaired. Most significantly a water deluge system has been added to the launch complex. Instead of using gravity to accelerate the flow of water (dropping it from a huge water tower into ever smaller pipes) this system pressurises the water using high pressure nitrogen gas feed into seven horizontal storage tanks behind the launch tower where the water is stored. This water is then pushed via two giant underground pipelines to the launch mount and then into manifolds which force the water between metal plates directly under the launch mount and then upward through many relatively small angled holes on the uppermost plate like an upturned shower head. The angled flow of the water is designed to deflect the rocket exhaust sideways away from the base of the launch mount (something done by metal flame deflectors and extensive concrete flame trenches at other launch sites), this is why SpaceX calls the system a flame defector rather than a water deluge system, most of the water is vaporised absorbing energy from the rocket exhaust in the process. Some of the remaining water is collected in a new long retention pool alongside the launch tower. There is also a sprinkler system which sprays a mixture of nitrogen and water directly under the base of the launch platform, the FireX system, designed to inhibit any ignition of any residual unburnt propellent leaked from the engines during start-up, but this was also in place for the first launch in April.
The design of Booster 9 has many improvements over that of Booster 7 used on the first test launch in April (Booster 8, a twin of Booster 7, has been scrapped). The centre 13 engines now have a Thrust vector Control (TVC) steering system with the actuators for that powered by electric motors instead of hydraulics. This means the gas powered turbo pump needed to pressurise they hydraulics is not needed and the gas generator, called the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is nor needed. These were housed two large square fairings at the base of the booster, these have now gone, instead Booster 9 has longer chines, four of them, the long triangular section stakes up the side of the booster, which house the batteries for the electric TVC as well as CO2 purge tanks and Nitrogen tanks for the start, spin up, of the 13 inner engines. Chines are a cross between fins and wings in aerospace terminology and they do provide some lift.
Another change is the addition of an adapter, a skirt at the top of the booster, with vents in it. This is the hot stage adapter ring, it will allow the Ship to ignite its engines, venting out of the holes, whilst still briefly attached to the booster. The booster will still be using its three centre engines at that point but throttled down. This means the Ship does not have to coast before starting its engines and so is under acceleration all the time. The adapter also includes a heat shield deflector to protect the booster during the hot staging. The adapter adds and extra 1.8m ((6ft) to the height of the booster so the Ship umbilical on the tower has had to be raised to reach the ship Quick Disconnect (QD) plate.
The engines have improved shielding around and between them and also a new CO2 purge system which will feed into the engine bay to suppress any fires during launch and flight, the CO2 is supplied from tanks in the chines and vents through a ring of holes around the base of the booster.
