CBF!Simon Riley that stays in your flat while he’s on leave. yeah, his apartment is a couple blocks away but your place feels more like home. you had bought a pull-out couch specifically for Simon a couple years back, something that wouldn’t hurt his back too much, something comfortable enough to rest on for the night. unfortunately, it doesn’t get much use other than acting as a normal couch. you’d make Simon use it if he wasn’t already comfortable in your bed, face mask discarded, a t-shirt and sweatpants keeping him comfortable. there’s not much you can do but smile and let your shoulders drop when he pats the sheets next to him, “C’mon, Simon says get in, love.”

Simon knew from the start that he was a broken man, cursed and forgotten by life, god, whatever there is beyond us. 

And you were his sanctuary. Through everything, all his torment and agony, you were there. 

Every time his father lashed out, breaking everything and beating everyone in sight, spitting slurred swears while drunk out of his dim-witted mind, Simon would run to you. 

And you would welcome him with open arms, holding him as he sobbed, eventually calming down in your warm embrace. 

And as you both grew up, his feelings for you grew as well. And unbeknownst to him, these feelings were mutual. 

But you knew something was up. When he started to slowly drift away from you. You would see each other less and less. Until eventually he stopped hanging out with you altogether. 

And you were immensely upset and hurt, disheartened. Did you do something wrong? Should you ask him? 

Simon utterly adored you. But he could never be with you. It would never work out. He would only break you into pieces. And there would be nothing left but remorse. 

You were too pure, too soft and delicate. At least in his eyes. But he wasn’t aware of the darkness within you. That's why you were always so good at comforting him. Because you understood, your own trauma always hidden from him in order not to burden him any further. 

And you could hear your heart shatter into bits every time you saw him with someone else, his arms around their waist, amused smile on his face as they talked to him, his hand slightly brushing against their cheek. Holding them like he held you once and showing them the smile he only ever showed you. 

And he would notice the hurt look on your face from across the room, breaking his own heart as well. But he acted like he didn’t care. Like you weren’t even there. 

And it was all too much for him, new to him. His feelings for you overwhelmed him. This love bubbling up inside him to the point of frustration and rage, against himself, for avoiding you, for being too weak to confront his feelings. But he knew he had to. He knew he didn’t deserve you. And he needed to get away. From everything that reminded him of you. 

And when he told you that he had enlisted in the army, you were absolutely livid. And you finally unleashed the rage you had been concealing for so long. How dare he ignore you all this time and come back only to give you this news? That he’s leaving you again? Only for good this time? And why the hell should you care? It wasn’t like you were friends anymore. 

But now he knows. Years later as he drinks himself into oblivion every night, sobbing his heart out as your memories replay in his mind, sorrow and regret engulfing him, he knows you were everything he needed all along.

He comes to you right after the mission announcement; taking down a drug cartel led by Manuel Roba.

“Hey, Si! I missed you so much!” you beam excitedly as soon as you see him step through the door. You jump into his arms and he catches you effortlessly with his muscular arms. “Hi! I missed you too, dove." he sighs as he nuzzles his cheek on your shoulder and hides his face in your hair, breathing you in to ground himself. His grip tightens around you, fully engulfing you in his embrace. He's home.  

Suddenly his face clouds over in gloom, “I don’t have much time. I have to tell you something.” he breathes into your ear, pulling away slightly, “But... but you just came back!” your smile falls, voice brittle, disappointed, feeling a tingle in the back of your eyes. “I know. I’m so sorry.” his head hangs low apologetically, “I-I...” he cuts himself off, “This next mission is a tough one.” “You mean?” you gulp, hesitant, not wanting to hear the answer, the lump in your throat threatening to burst. “Yeah. I may not come back.” he mutters, voice heavy and dark. The words hit you like a ton of bricks, causing you to let out a gasp and break into sobs. “Oh no, Si! Please don’t talk like that!” you wrap your arms around him, bawling onto his chest, “Please don’t go!” you plead desperately, knowing full well that he's unable to decline. He gives no response as he holds you in his arms and tenderly rubs your back and brushes his fingers through your hair in order to comfort you to some extent.

You slowly pull back, still shaken, wiping your tears away harshly with your sleeves, asking “What did you want to tell me?” “I- I... Fuck!” he stutters, sighing in frustration. “What is it, Si?” you question, eyebrows furrowed in concern, “You know you can tell me anything.” you add, lovingly caressing his cheek. He leans into your touch and mumbles “I know... it’s just-” he pauses, “Fuck it! I love you! I've always loved you!” he finally blurts out. Your mouth gapes open and your eyes widen at his words. Moments pass and that shocked look is still stuck on your face, “Please say something!” he implores, worried if he said the wrong thing. His voice shakes you out of your trance, “I- I... I love you too, Si!” you reply, looking into his eyes longingly.

Next thing you know, his lips are on yours, hands roaming across each other's skin, clothes discarded and you’re both panting heavily on the sofa, bodies tangled together. A wave of sorrow hits you as you come down from your high, “I’ll wait for you.” you murmur, your head lying on his chest, tracing your fingers mindlessly on his skin. “If I die-” he begins, “Please, Si!” you protest, not wanting to hear the words out loud. He goes silent, capturing your lips with his, not going any further in order not to take away your peace of mind. "I'll come back, love... for you, I will." he whispers reassuringly against your skin.

Neither of you has any idea what fate has in store for him, the amount of torment and anguish he will go through, what tragedies will beset him.

You are absolutely devastated. You feel like your heart has been ripped out of your chest, torn apart and shattered into pieces. The words echo in your mind over and over again. Simon Riley is dead. Your Simon is gone. Your whole body is trembling, your knees are wobbling. They finally give out and you crumble onto the floor, sobbing violently, chest heaving, struggling to breathe. “Nooo, Simonnn!!” you cry out, clutching your chest as you curl into yourself. 

You wake up with a stabbing pain in your head and a piercing buzzing in your ear. You wince as you lift your head off the floor, noticing that you passed out from sobbing and wailing excessively. You sit there for a while, expressionless, staring at nothing. 

You get off the floor and start walking like a zombie, completely empty and emotionless. You reach into your purse and fumble around until you find it. Tears start to well up in your eyes again and your lips quiver as you stare at the photo of him that you kept in your wallet. “I love you, Simon. His eyes are set on the door, his hand reaching for the doorbell, but never touches it. He’s hesitant. What would he say to you? He knows that he should tell the truth. You deserve to know. And he trusts you with all his being. You've always been a safe haven for him.

But after all this time, his sudden appearance would shock you to no end. What if you have found someone else? Can he live with that? The thought alone makes his stomach churn. But there’s no other way. You have to know. Because he needs you. 

He pushes the thoughts away and rings the doorbell, hoping you’re home.

A few moments pass, but they feel like an eternity to him. He feels his heart beat faster and faster.

Suddenly, the door opens and there you stand.

He immediately sighs in relief despite his heart threatening to burst out of his chest.

Your breath hitches in your throat and it feels as though your heart has stopped, mouth agape and eyes widened, pinching yourself to make sure it's not a dream.

You almost faint, body stumbling forward as your knees give out, nearly collapsing on the ground but he quickly catches you in his arms.

“S-Simon?!” you barely get the word out, your voice weak and shaky.

“It’s me, love!” he mutters quietly in order not to scare you away like a frightened animal.

You gasp and clutch your chest upon hearing his voice.

You break into sobs and he engulfs you in his embrace. You continue sobbing violently and gasping for air on his chest as he soothingly rubs your back. 

You pull back to take a proper look at him, noticing the various scars painting his face.

"W-what h-happened to you?" your voice wavers and you reach out but stop before your hand touches his face. You don't want to hurt him any further.

He tries to explain as best as he can, trying to keep the more gory details to himself, without breaking down right in front of you.

All the agonizing torture that was inflicted upon him which turned him into a different man, broke him, not only his body, but his soul. It all seems indescribable.

How can he put into words what he went through? Let alone without his soul coming apart.

Moments later, you’re holding each other as you weep for him, your heart shattering into pieces bit by bit at each word that leaves his mouth, baring his fractured soul to you until he can't go on any longer as the ache emerges from deep within his soul.

His words are cut off as he struggles to get any air in his lungs and his heart starts pounding in his chest and he sobs his heart out, pouring out all the excruciating pain and suffering he endured.

He finally has a safe place to let it all out.

“Si, just breathe. Take deep breaths. Like this.” you repeat the words, taking deep breaths as you hold his trembling body.

He tries to focus on the movements of your chest and copies you. His breathing and heartbeat gradually get back to normal.

"Simon, you’re safe now. You're home." you mutter against his skin as you place a chaste kiss on his temple.

He takes a deep breath and faces you, teary-eyed and broken, “Thank you.” he mumbles, “I can’t go through this without you. I need you.”

“I’m always yours, Si.” you reassure him, caressing his damp stubbled cheeks.

“I love you.” he says shakily and kisses you with all the love and devotion he feels for you.

18, 23, 49 for the fanfiction writing asks

18. do you enjoy research? which fic of yours required the most research?

depends on the research, I wish I could specify but, like, I’m either invested or not haha. I could dig researching something one day and then want to explode from boredom the next (rinse and repeat with the same topic). currently, the fic with the most research isn’t out yet - it’s still a wip. uuuh, tl;dr, Loser!Simon info dumps to Reader! I have to look into what weapons he canonically uses and figure out smooth dialogue for it (yippee!!)

23. is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story easiest? hardest?

beginning is definitely the hardest because if I don’t feel invested with my own introduction then I know you guys probably won’t feel invested either. granted, I’d still read my own fic with a shit opening, but I want to write something that grabs your attention (the English student in me yearns for an opener)

the middle (and end) is usually the easiest for me. it’s the meat and potatoes of the fic, I can really just get in there and type. once I have a solid start the rest just flows

49. what fic of yours would you say is the best introduction to you as a writer?

I changed my formatting a little, but otherwise Simon Riley with reading glasses is probably the best introduction to my writing. but, but, but, as a König girlie, I’d also say ChildhoodBestFriend!König

both have fluff, but Simon’s also dips into my nsfw content so it’s the best of both worlds in my opinion
