I realised that I did not post about this game. That is frankly, a crime. It is terrible that I did not post about this game and it has been like a year and a half. What is wrong with me?

So this is Chicory: A Colorful Tale. This is a beautiful masterpiece of a game where you are a cute dog running around solving little puzzles and painting the whole thing like the game is a colouring book.

What I expected: to colour in all the panels of an entire video game and have a probably good time.

What I did not expect: A deeply meaningful and touching story about what it means to be a creative that is still making me feel teary-eyed just thinking about it. Nope. I am crying now. Also there were several cute jokes.

As an artist, this game put me face to face with so many of the things that I personally struggle with. It made me think about my motivations, my creative process, how I compare myself to others, and the idea that the world is just better if everyone can create, no matter what their skill or style. I probably need to re-visit this game, to be honest, because in the past year I have forgotten about a lot of the lessons it was trying to teach me.

I 100% completed this game and I do not regret any minute of it, even picking up all the pieces of trash scattered around the world. If you are a creative, or even if you're not, I strongly encourage you to play this game. It is the only game I have felt the absolute need to write a review about and yell at people and shake them down and be like PLAY THIS PLEASE. So... play it? please?

I named the dog Chocolate, by the way.

I'm surprised I haven't made more fan art of this game, though I will say not my usual art style - it's Chicory a Colourful Tale! Specifically, it's the brush flowers and brush tree (? It's been a while, forgot if this tree has a name) in the Banquet Rainforest!

What have been some of your favorite games that you've streamed?

I don't know if I have a super interesting answer to this. I've liked all the games I've streamed, with maybe one or two exceptions LOL

I like doing things where I get to read a lot (like "Hypnospace Outlaw" and "Citizen Sleeper" and "Super Lesbian Animal RPG") because I like readin' out loud a lot. I also liked those specific ones a lot because they're extremely well written. It's fun to share and talk about stories!! I like getting to do that.

"Outer Wilds" and "Return of the Obra Dinn" were really goddamn fun because I like logic puzzles & deduction / mystery type of games. It's fun to put big pieces together and have these "oh my god, wow" moments & see people getting all hyped up about !!PUZZLE PROGRESS!! Also Mike's a really good co-pilot for stuff like this.

Picross streams are similarly fun because of puzzles but also I get to just hang out and chat when I do 'em. Fun to bounce off of the chatroom like that.

I could name literally anything I did with my partner because Puzz is really funny and charming and fun to do things with.

I feel like going "weird shit" is overly reductive but it's fun to check out things that feel weird. "An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs" was one of my favourites in that regard. I wanna try and make more time to play games like that.

"Alan Wake" and "Chicory: A Colourful Tale" were very good. They didn't really fit into any of the stuff I said above but they were really good. "Dark Souls" also.

There's a lot of other things I really liked playing that I'm not remembering off-hand, but also if I listed everything I've ever played here we'd be here for weeks.

This is the first is a series of 5 which will be used for Thumbnails in the youtube videos of my playthrough of the game Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Good game, would recommend. Recreating the colours of that first room took ages. I was going for the strong woman doing manual labor look for Zellox but I'm not great at defining muscles so I hope that came across.

Finished Chicory a colourful tale last night (as you can probably guess from all the Posts) and I now am legally obligated to tell everyone to play it, Especially if you are an artist of any kind. this game hits Extremely close to home on the experience of being an artist in ways that are both deeply profound and also funny as hell

also did I mention the lesbian mums and their fourty cat children

So I got my replacement disk 2 for my “chicory a colourful tale” soundtrack on vinyl, because the first one had a pretty noticeable scratch on it, (both visually and sonically) But the replacement has an identical scratch on it…

I’m honestly wondering if this is an issue when they pressed it? Did anybody else have this issue? It’s just so consistent, weird it would happen to me twice.
