Chapter One:
your pulse beat rapidly. you couldn’t believe you were actually doing this.
you put the last of the moving boxes on the couch and looked at kaylee. your smiles radiated as you took in your new place. the two bedroom, one bath apartment stared back at you.
the walls were painfully white and bare, but the dark blue couch added much needed color to the middle of the living room.
“it’s not much to look at right now”, she started, “but I think we can work with it.”
“let’s hope”, you laughed.
of course you both could work with it. y’all could turn a dumpster fire into a trendy café. you distinctly remembered that your dorm was in a similar condition y’all’s freshman year of college. and let’s just say you had to fix a few nail holes and tear off so much wallpaper when y’all moved out.
“I got it!”, kaylee gasped, “dark blue and white chevron!”
“chevron? are we in 2014?”, you gave her a look.
“oh please, you know I know best. here”, she positioned you to where she was standing by your shoulders, “look now.”
after a few head tilts, you hated to admit it but, you were starting to see her vision.
“hmmm ok fine. but the couch would have to go there”, you pointed, “and the lamp there against the wall.”
she gave your shoulders a squeeze and rested her head in the crook of your neck, “awe you finally trust my artistic eye.”
you shrugged her off with a laugh.
“you know things will be better, right? he’s not here to bother you, and you get a nice fresh start.”, she added hesitantly.
right. one of the main reasons you left your home state after college, your ex. you tried to push him out of your mind, nodding at kaylee.
you tried to focus on the room before you. your mind was starting to race with ideas and approaches, and the place was slowly piecing itself together.
the rising excitement was going to keep you up all night.
or so you thought.
you would have a different enemy tonight.
after hours of planning with kaylee, you finally started to get tired. the long hours of the day suddenly hit you and all you could think about was your mattress. it was on the floor as of now, but it never looked more comfortable.
after doing your skincare, getting in pjs, and brushing your teeth and hair, you laid down on the bare mattress. your eyes were slowly drooping as you started to slip into sleep.
just then you were startled awake with the sound of a guitar.
what in the world?
you waited for a second, thinking it was just your mind playing tricks. then, a second strum of an electric guitar echoed through the wall.
it was followed by a riff, cool and sharp, ripping through the quiet night. then came drums, pounding a dull beat that the guitar followed.
the music was good, great even, but it was too late for it.
you sat up, annoyed and tired, and looked over at kaylee, who had woken up from the same sounds.
“ugh. your first roommate duty.”, she grunted, pointing at the wall the music was coming from.
“no way, kaylee. are you kidding?”
she pointed again at the wall, strictly.
you rolled your eyes, standing up to stretch.
“ooohhh mama”, a man’s raspy voice came in with the music.
you cursed as you walked out into the hallway, not wanting the confrontation but needing sleep. the neighbor’s door reverberated with the vibration of music, making it obvious where the musicians were stationed.
you sighed and knocked at the door.
no response. just music.
“la di da di da oooohhh”, the singer’s voice was clear and distinct, mocking the guitar’s strums.
you knocked louder, growing frustrated.
suddenly, a voice interrupted the flowing sound and one by one the instruments stopped. the music ceased, and you could hear footsteps growing closer.
the door opened slightly, giving you a view of half a man’s face. his dark brown eyes sweeped you up and down, and you abruptly became aware that you were at their door in a big t-shirt and sleep shorts. a little embarrassed, you crossed your arms in front of you.
“can I help you?”, he asked, annoyance dripped from his husky voice.
“um- hi. sorry, me and my best friend just moved in next door.”, you pointed to your door.
his neck craned to see, opening the door a little more. you took in his appearance. the brown hair draped over his shoulders, reaching his upper back, was flowy and dark. he had on a black button up only buttoned to the middle of his torso, exposing his tan chest.
damn. he was attractive.
your eyes traveled further down, spotting an electric guitar hanging on him.
so this was the guitarist.
he looked back at you expectingly, waiting for an explanation.
“anyway, we were just going to come ask if y’all could quiet down just a little bit. it late and we have long days tomorrow and we would just really appreciate it.” you smiled sweetly, sort of wishing he found you attractive the way you found him attractive.
he raised his eyebrows, looked you up and down again, and turned to face some other men in the room. you could only see their heads, but you saw three men standing around instruments in the cramped apartment.
“what do ya say, boys? should we keep it down?”, he murmured, his voice mysterious and yet sweet. the other men laughed half-heartedly from inside, causing the man at the door to chuckle.
he looked back at you.
“look, sweetie. we are a professional band and we need our practice. now, we only can get together at night. so, what do you suppose we do, hm? stop our productive, important practice for you and your little friend to get beauty sleep? I don’t think so. we haven’t gotten any complaints yet, so I think that you just need to go back to your apartment and invest in some earplugs if it bothers you that much.”
you were taken aback, mouth slightly open in shock. you’d have never guessed such rude words would fall out of his beautiful mouth. he looked like a dream, but acted like a nightmare.
“well”, you started, unsure of how to respond, “I guess i’ll be the first to complain.” you lifted your chin up defiantly, not letting him see how much he disappointed you by being rude.
his eyebrows dropped, his face forming a deep glare.
“now then, let’s not be rude here.” he was testing you, seeing how confrontational you would get.
“yes”, you smiled sarcastically, “let’s not. so, practice is cancelled tonight?” you looked behind the man and into the room to see three slightly shocked faces.
one of them, with a seafoam green bass in his hand, broke out into a smile, “well i’m free tomorrow at noon.”
“shut up, sam.”, the man at the door barked, looking back at him.
“oh, give it a rest, jake. you know we can postpone and be fine.”, sam added.
oh, jake was the man at the door.
“yes, jake”, you cooed, “let’s postpone, hm?”
his eyes found yours, surprised and slightly impressed at your tone. his hard mouth slowly let up.
he scoffed, “you playing with fire, baby. be careful.”
your eyebrows raised, testing him to try you. you backed away, eyes never leaving his, and walked the four feet to your door.
the last thing you saw was a glimpse of his eyes following you into your apartment.
the intensity of the encounter haunted you, playing back in your head over and over. you leaned your head back onto the door, waiting for the music to resume. waiting to see if he had the gall to keep playing. still after a minute or two, there was nothing but silence. you sighed, sluggishly walking back to your bed.
then you collapsed, sleep slowly enveloping you into its warm arms.
good, that’s the end of that, you thought.
until you woke up at 3 am, to the sound of a guitar riff.

“Morning, Simon!”
____ and Lindsey arrived at Simon's door at seven in the morning as planned. His crush was the one who excitedly greeted him, while her friend looked disgruntled and ticked at having to be up so early.
“Morning,” he greeted them civilly as his hand instinctively ran through his hair, trying not to appear even the slightest disheveled or flustered at the sight of ____’s smiles, and moved away from the door to let the two in.
“Have a seat. I'll bring you some tea,” he said, promptly moving towards the kitchen.
The ladies, particularly the author, took in the surroundings of his little flat as they entered and sat down. The entire place as a whole was simple. The walls of the living room were empty and unpainted except for a singular, ancient grandfather clock that hung alone near his curtained balcony, filling the quiet room with its rhythmic ticking. She saw that he was concerned more with pragmatics than aesthetics; if it didn't serve a purpose, then it wasn't needed.
She saw that he favored dark colors of blue and black, and neutrals, but found that bright colors were speckled throughout the room in his red floor lamp, the gold painted knobs of his brown television stand, and the red and white chevron patterned cushions on his grey couch. The simple state of his room made her wonder if his bedroom was more personalised.
A hint of green caught her attention and she turned to the balcony. A few potted plants of mint, tomatoes, and coriander, all of which were healthy and green, swayed gently in the morning breeze. She smiled at this. “He’s a gardener,” she thought to herself, not quite expecting it.
The smell of lemon and mint wafted through the air, bringing her thoughts back. Simon brought out a tray of three mismatched teacups and a glass teapot filled with what smelled and looked like lemon tea.
“Have some tea,” he set down the tray on the coffee table and poured out the tea for them.
She, wanting to use Simon as a model for her character, Frederick, watched keenly as he poured with a thoughtful, concentrated look on his face. She wondered why he used a glass teapot over porcelain or any other material, but that was probably not important. However, she was not going to let even the smallest things about him and his choices escape her scrutiny.
“When will Johnny come?” asked Lindsey as soon as she had her sip of tea.
Simon glanced at the grandfather clock. “At six forty-five, he said he'd be here in ten minutes. He's picking up our other friend, Kyle too. Maybe there's some hold-up,” he answered. He felt a little strange; it was his first time properly speaking to Lindsey, and she seemed to look judgingly at him, as if to find a fault.
____ was silent, as she was more concentrated on the taste and temperature of her tea. It was lightly sweetened and refreshing thanks to the lemon and mint. A mental note was already taken that Frederick too would be good at brewing tea.
Simon's ringtone tore the silence and he immediately slid the phone out of his jeans. Thinking it was Johnny, he looked expectantly, but it was his mum. Looking back at the ladies, he excused himself and went out to the balcony to talk.
“What do you think of him?” ____ asked Lindsey, who took slow sips of her tea as the two watched the man pace around the balcony through the partially drawn translucent curtains.
“He makes good tea,” she answered, “I think I'll approve of him a bit.” To Lindsey, a man who could brew a good tea was worth marrying, because, according to her, it meant that he cared about the little things, like making tea taste good. As ____ smiled, she paused for a moment before quipping, “He seems nice so far, but I don't trust him just yet.”
____ shook her head, chuckling. Lindsey was always so skeptical of everyone and everything, both a vice and a virtue.
Simon soon emerged from the balcony into the living room, brows furrowed with concern. He looked straight at ____ and said, “I need to have a word with you, darling,” and then promptly stepped into the kitchen without waiting for an answer, expecting her to follow.
She instantly set down her teacup and followed Simon into the kitchen. “What's the matter?” she asked as soon as she entered, finding him leaning his back on the kitchen counter, arms crossed.
He turned to her, almost opening his mouth to speak but cautiously glanced at the open door; he looked back at her, beckoning her to come closer. When she did, he said, “I don't know how you'll react to this but I need you to hear me out, alright, darling?”
Her curiosity heightened and she nodded.
“Y'see, my mum just called and they're going to have a family reunion soon since my old man's come back home for a holiday from his military service,” he paused, sucking in a sharp breath, unsure about how she would take his next words, but continued anyway, “And my mum asked me if I found a girlfriend yet because she's worried I'm going to die single…” he paused again, “and I may have accidentally told her that you're my girlfriend.”
“You what?” she stared incredulously at Simon, although she wasn't quite opposed to what he did.
“Yeah,” he sighed, shaking his head, embarrassed with himself, “I'm really sorry.”
“Wait, does your mum know about me?”
“Yeah, I told her a few weeks ago that I recently made friends with this lass,” he paused to sigh again, “And when she asked if I finally found a girlfriend, I accidentally said yes, and when she asked if it was you…” he paused again and shrugged.
The lady paused. Now that he said it, it couldn't be helped and she had to play along. Not that it bothered her. She chuckled. “Well, it's alright. You take the trouble of pretending to be my boyfriend, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to pretend to be your girlfriend for a bit.”
Simon looked back at her, visibly relieved.
“Now, what do you need me to do?” she asked.
“That's the hard part. We'll have to make up a story of how we met and how we hit it off. And I'll have to bring you home and introduce you to my family. And not just that, you know who else will be there.” He pursed his lips tight.
She immediately knew. She wiped her clammy hands on her jeans and nodded. “Right, yes.”
He could see the apprehension on her face and in her body as she crossed her arms. Feeling terrible that he dragged her into this, he said, “Darling, you don't have to do this if you don't want to. If going there and meeting him again will make you uncomfortable, then I'm not forcing you to come with me.”
She drew in a shaky breath and pondered for a moment. Simon watched her, gulping harshly.
“No,” she finally said, resolute, “I shouldn't be so scared all the time. If I'm going to be there as your girlfriend, I shouldn't be afraid of some ex of mine.”
Simon blinked in surprise at this response. He appreciated her bravery, and felt his admiration for her increase. However, he didn't show it, and kept his facial expressions neutral with a little smile. “I guess, yeah,” he nodded. He paused for a moment, wanting to say something else, but she beat him to it.
“If anything happens, you’ll stick up for me, won’t you?” she asked smilingly, “Since you’re my “boyfriend”.”
He felt his heart leap. That was the exact thing he wanted to assure her of, and it flattered him greatly to know that they had been thinking of the same thing. Even though he knew this was going to be a pretense, it rubbed his male instincts and ego right to be depended on for protection.
He answered with a wide smile, “Of course, my love.”
“Why d’ye drive a manual?” asked Johnny as soon as he took the shotgun seat, watching ____ take her place in the driver's seat.
“Tut tut,” she shook her head, bringing out a mini sombrero from her pocket which she placed on the gear stick, “It's Emmanuel.”
The three passengers in the back, from left to right– Simon, Lindsey, and Gaz, watched as Johnny burst out laughing, also making ____ laugh as she got the car started.
“Ghosty, she's a woman of culture!” Johnny exclaimed, looking back at his best friend.
Simon made no answer as he was upset that he couldn't sit next to ____. Lindsey felt similarly, but for Johnny. Regardless of that, the drive began with gusto, with Johnny and Gaz filling the time with their singing and jokes, while the other three listened.
____ drove for the first hour, and Johnny took over for the second and the two switched seats, exchanging jokes and quips with ease, making both Simon and Lindsey at the back miserable and jealous. Simon drove for fifteen minutes in the third hour until he nearly hit a tree, but swerved back to the road right on time to avoid damaging both the car and his crush's esteem. Gaz took over for the remaining forty-five minutes, and Simon was banished to the back seat.
Thankfully for him, ____ sat next to him to console him, “Don't worry. After all, you did say that if you tried really hard, you wouldn't hit a tree. You did great for fifteen minutes at least!”
Simon chuckled out of embarrassment. It didn't make him feel any better, but he appreciated her effort.
The camping spot was soon in sight. It was around ten in the morning when Gaz parked the car in the shed of a little cabin. The ladies learnt that the spot belonged to one of Gaz's relatives, who was happy to lend it out to anyone who needed it. And from how the three men scampered around the place relaxedly, it was evident that they were regular visitors.
The fenced piece of land was right next to a little lake which afforded a view of the distant green hills speckled with heathers and daisies. A lonely little dock hung over the surface of the water, which, as Simon informed the ladies, “made a nice fishing spot”.
The group first decided to begin their hike as planned before unloading the car. England's weather was notorious for being fickle and since the skies were currently clear of all rain clouds, the hike was chosen as the first activity.
The trail was an easy one, chosen for the benefit of the ladies who were partially accustomed to walking on rocky, uneven terrain. The end of it promised a little waterfall, which Johnny was excited about showing them, as was evident in his constant singing of sea shanties while they hiked. Gaz happily joined him, while the ladies and Simon chose to be their audience like earlier.
“Johnny sure loves to sing,” observed ____, who trudged between Lindsey and Simon.
“He's a born singer,” replied Simon with a sigh, sounding both proud of and annoyed with his friend, “And he was a theater kid too. Acted in tons of musicals and plays, mostly musicals. Put him together with Gaz and they'll be singing and dancing all day.”
She chuckled. “How long have you guys known each other?”
“Johnny's my childhood friend. We've known each other since we were ten years old. As for Gaz, both of us met him in university and we quickly became friends,” he explained, kicking a rock out of the way.
The two ladies looked at each other. “That's a long time,” remarked Lindsey, “You all must be really close then.”
“Too close,” Simon said dryly, but there was a hint of affection in his voice. He then turned to the ladies to ask, “And what about you two? How long have you been friends?”
“Since high school,” ____ answered, smilingly linking her arm with Lindsey's, “She's basically my sister now.”
Simon smiled. He could tell, for the moment he saw them together, they stuck to each other like glue and didn't leave each other's side for more than a few moments.
Johnny looked back at the calm trio behind him and Gaz. “Jolene!” He called Lindsey by her nickname. When he had her attention, he beckoned her to join him in singing.
“I don't know any of the songs you're singing!” she protested.
“Dinnae ye worry, wee lassie!” he retraced his steps, put an arm around her shoulders, and dragged her ahead with him, making her squeal and stumble. “Gaz and I will teach you!” he promised, and kept his arm around her as they hiked up the hillock.
While the two men busied themselves in teaching Lindsey to sing ‘Bully in the Alley’, ____ and Simon were left to themselves. The lady smiled at Lindsey's attempts to sing, though she was no singer.
“Lindsey hates singing,” she whispered to Simon, “It's crazy how she's doing it for Johnny.” A girlish giggle escaped her lips at the thought of a romance blooming between the two. Her authorly brain couldn't help but conjecture all the sweet moments they would have, worthy of a novel of its own.
“And I'll tell you what, Johnny's never been this fixated on one woman for this long either. He's normally a huge flirt, a ladies’ man, if you will. I'm just as surprised as you are,” answered Simon.
The mention of Johnny being a flirt worried her. She knew Lindsey to almost easily give her affections to anyone who would look her way, starved for love as she was. But she decided to stay out of the way and watch the two for now. If Johnny ever did anything that would hurt Lindsey, she would not hesitate to confront him.
The hike was now proving to get a little tiring, and ____ let out a sigh as she paused to catch her breath and drink some water. Simon stopped too, looking down at her from the slightly steep ascent.
“Are you tired?” he asked.
“A little, yeah.”
He bent his knee and lowered himself slightly, holding out his hand. “Come on,” he encouraged, “Just a little more and we'll be at the waterfall.”
She took his outstretched hand, and no sooner they made contact, a jolt of electricity ran down both their spines. Simon gulped harshly at this reaction, and she felt an additional tingle in her stomach. His larger, more rugged hand held her softer and smaller hand in his, and he pulled her up the ascent with ease. She thanked him as soon as they were next to each other, Simon, eager to be of further assistance, held out his arm to her.
“You can hold my arm if you want to,” he offered, trying to sound as casual as he could, though his thoughts begged her to give him the honour of accepting him.
Her hand practically flew to his arm in an instant, wrapping just below his bicep. Simon never felt more depended upon than now as the two began walking together. And she was completely flattered by his kind offer, trying to suppress her smiles and blushes. The two were, without doubt, over the moon.
The lady was sure to make mental notes about everything Simon did. Frederick would be tall and brooding, but a kind-hearted and observant gentleman with a soft spot for Adelheid.
“This reminds me of the Jane Austen novels where the men would offer their arms to the ladies when they got tired as they walked,” she commented with a bright smile and a certain twinkle in her eye as she moved closer to him, allowing her hand to curl tighter against his arm.
He noted the expression on her face and the movement and instinctively flexed his bicep so that she could feel it. He smiled in response to her comment and said with a chuckle, his cheeks overspread with a light pink, “So it was a custom back then? Interesting.” He hadn't read a lot of Regency era novels to know of past English social customs, but he seemed intrigued by this one aspect that she mentioned. Wanting to know if she really approved of it, asked, “Do you like it?”
She loved it, but for the sake of being mild, said, “I think it's nice, especially now when I don't see men doing this sort of thing.”
“So you like gentlemen then?”
She giggled. “A lot.”
Simon took note of this immediately. If she liked a gentleman, a gentleman he would be. If men of his day didn't do the things he did, like offering their arm, or pulling out the chair for her at a table, he most certainly would do it, for he didn't want to be like other men. He wanted to be special and singled out by her.
They began descending down a slightly slippery, gravelly path that led to the waterfall, and Simon took hold of her upper arm this time as he led her down so that she wouldn’t fall in case she slipped over the loose gravel. He was reminded yet again of how much smaller she was compared to him, and it only heightened his desire to keep her safe.
The gurgle and rush of water from the distant waterfall was soon heard, and a few meters of walking on level ground finally brought them to the waterbody familiar to the men. Johnny cheered like he never saw a waterfall before, loud enough for his voice to echo in the wilderness, and for Lindsey to cover her ears and curse under her breath.
“We're here!”

Author's Notes: Four days, NINE PROMPTS. Buckle up, folks, this goes right into the smut and it doesn't stop. Little glimpses of background for these two thrown in there.
"Christ, just look at you. So wet and open for me… I wasn't gone but an afternoon, love. What have you been up to without me?" Hob trails his fingers through the sloppy mess that is his lover's ass, his fluttering hole crying in its need to be filled. "Oh, darling." Hob sighs and circles his thumb around the rim while palming one ass cheek. Then he drops his fingers between quivering thighs only to find folds that are impossibly more slick. "All this? For me?"
Dream moans something filthy, claws at the bed sheets and gets his knees under himself enough to sweet fucking Christ present his holes to Hob. "Please. I need…"
Hob pets his lover's lower back, soothing across the rear fetlocks of the enormous white horse coat of arms tattooed from the nape of his neck to the very first indent of the crease of his ass. Per chevron inverted sable and azure, a rampant horse argent the heraldry terminology floats across his mind as he shucks his clothes off. The entire device is shiny with sweat that gleams in the low light of their bedroom.
"I got you. I am going to take care of you, don't worry." He gets the last of what he is wearing off and then heads to the drawers and grabs some supplies, which is when he realizes what is missing. “Oh, my Dream. Little pet. You used the teal one? Were you really that desperate for me?” When he turns back to the bed he can see it, wedged halfway beneath a pillow near Dream’s stretched out, grasping hands: the blue-green dildo that they had made from a mold of Hob’s erect cock, for Dream to have while he was away on business and couldn't risk bringing an omega, even his own omega, along. It has no knot though. That is for Hob and Hob alone.
“Get up for a mo, pet. I need your help.” He instructs, dropping the items in his hands onto the foot of the bed. Hob stands there, knees pressed to the side of the tall mattress, as his gorgeous Dream complies. He strokes his cock lazily, admiring how Dream has to work so hard just to concentrate on this during the ramp up into his heat. Hob honestly did not mean to leave his sweet Dream in his time of need – he truly thought that he had at least another twenty-four hours before it got this bad. If managing cleaning up after the Corinthian hadn't taken up so much of his damned time he would have been here for when Dream… Fuck, Hob would put a contract out on the little shit again if he could. As it was he made a mental note to up the reward.
Finally, Dream is on his knees before him, facing him, waiting. His slim omega’s cock bounces a little with each panting breath, the ring hanging from his frenum piercing glinting in the moonlight streaming through their penthouse windows. Dream has put in work to gather himself together enough to be present for Hob right now – his instincts are no doubt pushing him towards incoherence. Even the ruby hanging from his one earring trembles. Hob cups his face in both hands and gives in to the temptation to kiss his love, who whimpers in pleased surprise. He maps Dream’s mouth slowly, until the need for air becomes more than a buzzing annoyance. “What was that for?” Dream’s voice is so low and sultry Hob feels it as much as hears it.
“I am endeavoring to make it up to you that I was gone when this started.” He strokes flushed cheekbones with his thumbs and watches as inky black eyelashes flutter like raven’s wings. “You know I wouldn’t leave you during a time like this on purpose, not without it being an intentional scene, right?” They have plenty of kinks, but that kind of denial is not generally one of them – abandonment isn’t the kind of pain Hob likes his omega to be in.
Dream’s blue eyes catch the moonlight like gemstones as they widen in surprise. “Of course, my love. I didn’t think any different.”
“Good.” Hob runs his hands through Dream’s wild black hair and the lithe man leans into it, purring all the while. “That’s good. Well, since we are in this situation a little suddenly, lets make sure I can assist you properly.” He reaches down into the small pile on the bed and pulls out the two-inch wide strip of silicone and hands it to Dream. “Nice and tight now, darling. Need to be able to fuck you through at least four orgasms to bank this heat for you, you know that.”
His perfect pet hums in pleasure as he takes the silicone, wraps it around the base of Hob’s cock, and pulls it tight. “Tighter?”
Hob's breath comes out in a shudder. “One more notch. Need it to keep my knot down until you are ready for it and you’ve already gotten me quite worked up tonight.” The pain of the wide cock ring preventing his knot from swelling will be its own sweet searing ecstasy as the evening progresses.
The smirk that Dream levels at him is pure sin, even with lust giving a haziness to his eyes, as he pulls the cock ring tighter and secures the band. “Oh, have I?” Dream’s fingers find their way into Hob’s chest hair, combing through it while he turns those ridiculous bedroom eyes back up to Hob. He can see the subtle dusting of shadow on Dream’s lids from here, combining with the black liner to make him look like some Hollywood starlet all in black-and-white.
“Oh, have I?” Hob mocks, voice high-pitched and lilting. He grabs Dream’s waist and heaves, throwing him back onto the bed. “You know damn well what you’re doing.” He crawls up on top of his giggling lover. “I know I keep a clever omega.”
And he knows that his lover is a greedy, vain creature, so it is not shocking that he preens and arches prettily with the praise. “Well this clever omega is tragically empty and would like his alpha to get to fucking him until he can’t remember his name.”
“So demanding.” Hob grins and nuzzles under Dream’s jaw so he can mouth and nip along that gorgeous swan neck. “You are lucky I like your smart mouth.” He rocks his hips down to press their erections together, stopping any response Dream might have had as his long legs part immediately. Dream’s whine as he grabs at Hob’s shoulders is delicious – Hob can taste it on those plush peony lips as he repositions himself and sinks into the welcoming heat of his omega’s cunt.
The first round doesn’t last long for Dream, he is too worked up and Hob knows his body too well. He snaps his hips in hard, fast thrusts and twists his hand on Dream's cock just so and then he is letting out a sweet little shriek as he comes all over his own chest.
“That take the edge off, darling?” Hob reaches backwards for the towel and does a quick clean-up while Dream just nods in reply. “Alright, be a good pet for me now and turn over, get that ass back up in the air.” Dream complies so easily it takes Hob’s breath away and he curls around his lover to kiss between his shoulder blades. When he speaks his lips caress the ears of the white horse on his lover’s back. “Be as loud as pleases you, my Dream. Peel the paint off the walls with your screams. I know you can. I want to hear you.”
Hob feels more than hears the chuckle given that Dream’s face is buried in the sheets. He reaches up for the discarded teal dildo and brings it back with him to kneel behind the curve of that lovely little ass. Dream is still absurdly open and wet, so Hob just lines the head of the shaft of silicone up and shoves it into Dream’s ass to the flared base in one go.
Dream’s entire body goes taut as he wails, “Yes!” And then Hob puts the tip of his actual cock back at the entrance to Dream’s cunt and the omega sobs. “Ohpleaseohpleaseohplease…”
“Well, since you ask so nicely.” Hob thrusts into the wet heat where he just was and it is like a different world. At this angle he reaches deeper, hits a spot in Dream's body that makes his moans hitch every time he drives in. And all along the way he can feel the dildo deep in Dream's ass, a solid mass that presses along the top of his dick, providing a different kind of stroking than the muscles clenching around him.
He takes it slow, rolling his hips and talking filth into the safety of their bedroom. "Look at how easy you take two cocks. My god, you were fucking made for it, weren't you? Have you always been this greedy? Or is it just for me?" An incoherent string of consonants is Dream's only answer and it sends a shock of arousal down Hob's spine. His cock twitches, trying to leak fluid, but it can't.
"I know pet, I know. You are still burning up, inside and out. How about another for me?" Hob gathers some of the copious amounts of slick streaming down Dream's thighs and then puts his hand back on Dream's prick. He strokes in time with his thrusting, being careful around the frenum ring, while he uses the thumb of his other hand to push the dildo in a little on each instroke. Each of Hob’s pulls back drags the dildo out a little with it, so he presses it in again as he rolls into Dream's cunt.
Hob revels in it, lets the steady rhythm build his own pleasure until his prick is throbbing with it not too long later. His knot tries to swell and presses against the wide ring of silicone and it causes a bright flash of pain to rocket up his spine. Hob groans with it, thrusts deeper, so Dream starts rocking with him, trying to keep the same angle.
Dream's next orgasm is longer and louder than the last and he makes a mess of the sheets. But Hob doesn't stop, just keeps thrusting through it all, torturing both Dream and himself into overstimulation. The omega wobbles beneath him and then collapses onto the bed, his body lax with pleasure as Hob keeps fucking him through the post-orgasm sensitivity, strong and steady until Dream’s voice is climbing in volume and pitch again. When Hob slips his thumb into Dream's ass alongside the dildo his sweet omega comes again, rutting into the mattress, voice cracking on a sob like glass under a hammer.
Hob hoists Dream's hips up to get a couple of pillows under him – he needs the angle even if his lover can’t hold it himself. As the dildo comes out it makes a lovely wet squelching noise, almost as arousing as his Dream's groan of "Noooo."
"Shhh, pet. Just need to tighten you up again. You fucked yourself so damned loose before I got home…" Hob grabs for the last three items on the bed. "Your cunt is never going to be able to hold the egg if you can't clench tight." He drops the dildo and grabs the leather paddle, a strip of thick leather about as big as Hob's hand with a wooden handle. Hob scoots back on the bed, giving him enough space to generate the velocity he needs in a single swing. "Ready, love?"
"Hnnnnnngh yes." Even Dream's voice is coming out lust-hazy now. Perfect.
Hob doesn't ease into it, just goes immediately for his usual impact strength, right on the curve of Dream's left asscheek. The leather's snappy slapping sound reverberates in the room along with Dream's ecstatic gasp. He hits the other side, watching as Dream's whole body tenses, jerks forward, then relaxes; Dream lets out a blissful sigh.
With one hand Hob pulls on the right cheek, just enough that he can see the wet hole fluttering. He watches, enraptured, as everything clenches with the next impact. And the next. And the next. Heaven above, even in this his omega is beautiful.
Hob concentrates on hitting only one side first and then pauses to check his work. Dream is panting and trembling and moaning, his cunt leaking all over the pillows beneath him. When Hob sticks a finger into said cunt to see how the muscles have tensed he does so roughly, with all the gentleness one might use when stuffing a cornish hen with herbs and aromatics. Dream hisses, but then tries to push back, still desperate to be filled. "Pleasemorepleasemoreplease!"
The begging makes Hob's cock want to leak in sympathy, but it can only twitch in its bonds. It is starting to be more constantly painful the more aroused Hob gets, the longer he is denied release, and the adrenaline fuels him onward.
"Not until you tighten up for me, darling." Hob scolds. "Still too easy to get two fingers in you now, see?" He drives said fingers into Dream's ass with only passing resistance and Dream moans, the sound coming from deep in his chest, resonant and worshipful.
Hob pulls his fingers out and switches sides, holding the reddened asscheek back now, making Dream gasp and writhe. Then he is smacking the other side of Dream’s ass with equal force. After the first two, Dream is arching backwards towards Hob. "Harder, please! Give me all of you!"
Oh. So that's how this is going to go. Hob adjusts his grip on the paddle's handle, takes a deep breath, and strikes Dream with all of his strength.
The sound of leather hitting skin is almost deafening and his omega's sweet moans have turned into pleasured sobbing. On the next one Hob is watching as both Dream's cunt and ass clench so tightly fluid dribbles out from them. Gorgeous, just gorgeous.
One more hit at maximum strength, just so Hob can see that deep body reaction again, and then Hob is praising Dream, "That's it dove. Almost done. So good for me." He knees Dream's thighs apart, pries his cheeks open as much as he can with one hand, and then uses just a flick of his wrist to smack the leather onto the little strip of flesh between Dream's vaginal opening and his asshole. He screams and Hob does it again, just a touch harder. The scream this time snaps at the end, a tree branch struck by lightning. "One more, baby."
On the third hit Dream shrieks "Please fuck me! PleeeaaAAAAA-eh-eh-eeees!"
Ah, there it is. That’s the sound Hob fell in love with. He heard it across the room at a private party, that euphoric howl of an appeal to be filled, and had been drawn to it like a vulture to a carcass. The attendees at the party all knew who Hob was and they parted silently as he stalked forward. He found the ethereal source of that sound strung up in a complicated shibari scene, his ass being teased with a soft flogger. Miles and miles of milk white skin, not a scar nor a tattoo nor a piercing in sight, just dried blood smeared over his back from recent cuts and distilled omega perfection begging Hob for his attention.
He walked around to the omega’s head, crouched down in front of him to meet his eyes on the same level. The omega’s blue eyes were fogged shower glass, unseeing even while pointed at him. Hob snapped three times directly in front of the other man’s nose and, with a gasp, the pretty thing focused on him with bright, clear intention. “Wha-?”
His voice was so much lower than Hob expected that it made him shiver. “Hello, gorgeous. Heard you begging to be fucked… any chance I can take you up on that offer?”
Hob couldn’t resist then and he can't resist now, his alpha desire for this omega bullying forward, and it takes a minute to remember his plan. He throws the paddle aside and flips Dream over, hefting one leg onto his hip.
Dream is gasping, cock still hard and bobbing, dripping its mess all over. The impact play worked well, because it actually takes a little effort to pop the egg into Dream's cunt, but once Hob does and slips the little remote into his palm, it only takes turning the vibrator on to low and Hob's teeth gently tugging on the ring in Dream's frenum piercing to have him screaming into another orgasm. Hob gets around to catch this one in his mouth, sucking on the tip of his omega's elegant prick until Dream is sobbing again.
When Hob moves above Dream, the omega growls, eyes almost completely black in their dilation, still burning with the increasing heat, and attempts to climb onto Hob, arms around his shoulders and legs around his waist.
Hob’s movements have become a little frantic now, he burns to be inside his Dream. So he coats his cock in the copious amounts of lubrication his omega’s body is providing, grabs bony hips, and fucks hard into the tight heat of his lover’s ass; he gets immediately drunk on Dream’s screams of encouragement.
Oh fuck, yeah, this is what Hob needs. He has pulled four orgasms out of his wildfire of an omega and now it is his turn. His cock is throbbing in its confines, impossibly hard, and he fucks with all his might into Dream and turns up the vibrations higher and higher and higher. He can feel the vibrator clear as day now, like there aren't walls of flesh between his cock and where it is nestled inside Dream. Even better, he’s found an angle where each thrust in rams the egg up into the underside of all that nerve-dense tissue behind Dream’s dick and his sweet whore omega is screaming himself hoarse with it.
On the next pull out Hob unclasps his cock ring and lets it fall beneath them, pulling his dick all the way out and getting Dream’s legs over his shoulders so he can bend his pretty little thing to his will. “Gonna knot your ass, darling.” He rumbles a warning and before Dream can respond Hob is fucking down into his omega, folding him in half so that he can nip at those pink lips, cracked and dry from all his howling.
It only takes three thrusts and Hob’s knot is swelling along with his pleasure, both reaching a crescendo. On the fourth he is almost too wide at the base to get in and out. And then with the fifth drive in he is locked in place, his climax descending upon him violently as he roars into Dream’s jaw.
Once he can hear more than the blood rushing in his ears, Hob realizes that his sweet Dream is begging again, voice rough and ragged, “Touch me, please please, let me come, please Hob.”
“Christ on the cross, again, my love?” Hob pants, chuckling. But when Dream keeps pleading with him, he acquiesces, wraps his hand around his omega’s prick and brings him to one last orgasm without drawing it out or any fanfare.
It takes a little maneuvering, but Hob gets them lying curled on their sides, the omega’s cock finally soft and Hob buried into his lover for the next short while. Dream pulls Hob’s arm around his waist and interlaces their fingers. “Welcome home, love.” Dream coos.
Hob laughs into his lover’s hair and can only agree.

Modern Texture Paint Designs: Transforming Spaces with Style
In the world of interior design, texture paint designs have become a game-changer. No longer confined to flat, monochrome walls, modern texture paint designs offer a creative and versatile way to add depth, character, and visual interest to any room. Whether you’re looking to create a subtle backdrop or a bold statement wall, the right texture paint design can elevate your home’s aesthetic to new heights. In this blog, we’ll explore some of the most popular modern texture paint designs and how they can be used to transform your space.
Tumblr media
What is Texture Paint?
Texture paint is a specialty paint that is designed to add dimension and tactile interest to walls. Unlike traditional paint, which dries to a smooth finish, texture paint contains aggregates such as sand, silica, or polymers that create a raised or rough surface when applied. This not only adds visual appeal but can also help to conceal minor wall imperfections.
Popular Texture Paint Designs
1. Rustic Plaster
Rustic plaster texture paint designs mimic the look of aged plaster walls, often seen in Mediterranean or Tuscan-style homes. This design adds a warm, inviting feel to any room and works particularly well in living rooms and dining areas. To achieve this look, a base coat is applied, followed by a thicker, textured layer that is manipulated with tools like trowels or sponges to create an uneven, rustic finish.
2. Concrete Finish
For those who prefer a more industrial or contemporary vibe, concrete finish texture paint designs are an excellent choice. This design replicates the cool, minimalist aesthetic of concrete surfaces, making it ideal for modern lofts or urban-inspired interiors. The texture is created using a combination of gray paints and techniques that produce a smooth yet subtly varied surface, adding depth without overwhelming the space.
3. Marble Effect
Marble effect texture paint designs bring the luxurious look of marble to your walls without the hefty price tag. This technique involves layering different shades of paint to replicate the veins and swirls found in natural marble. It’s a sophisticated option that works beautifully in bathrooms, entryways, and even as an accent wall in bedrooms. The result is a stunning, high-end finish that exudes elegance and refinement.
4. Stucco
Stucco texture paint designs are inspired by traditional European architecture. This finish is characterized by its rough, sand-like texture, which can range from fine to coarse. Stucco is highly versatile and can be used both indoors and outdoors, making it perfect for creating a cohesive look throughout your home. It’s particularly popular in Spanish and Southwestern-style homes, adding a timeless, earthy charm.
5. Linen Texture
For a softer, more understated look, linen texture paint designs are a great option. This design mimics the woven appearance of linen fabric, adding a subtle, tactile element to walls. It’s created using a combination of paint and a special brush or roller to achieve the desired texture. Linen texture is ideal for bedrooms, home offices, and other spaces where a calm, serene ambiance is desired.
6. Geometric Patterns
Modern texture paint designs often incorporate geometric patterns to create a bold, contemporary look. Using tape and various texture tools, intricate designs such as chevrons, hexagons, or abstract shapes can be crafted on your walls. This style is perfect for accent walls or to highlight specific architectural features in a room. The combination of texture and pattern adds a dynamic, eye-catching element that can transform any space.
Tips for Using Texture Paint Designs
Start Small: If you’re new to texture paint, begin with a small area or accent wall to get a feel for the technique and its impact on your space.
Use Quality Tools: The right tools, such as trowels, sponges, and specialty rollers, are essential for achieving the desired texture and finish.
Experiment with Colors: Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors to create unique effects. Layering different shades can add depth and dimension to your walls.
Consider the Room’s Function: Choose a texture that complements the room’s purpose and existing décor. For example, a soothing linen texture is ideal for bedrooms, while a bold geometric pattern might be better suited for a living room or entryway.
Hire a Professional: For more complex designs or if you’re unsure about your skills, hiring a professional painter can ensure a high-quality, polished result.
Conclusion
Modern texture paint designs offer endless possibilities for enhancing your home’s interior. From rustic plaster and concrete finishes to marble effects and geometric patterns, there’s a texture paint design to suit every style and taste. By incorporating these designs into your home, you can create visually stunning spaces that reflect your personality and aesthetic preferences. So, unleash your creativity and transform your walls with the magic of texture paint designs!

Waking up 12 or 15 for Brykar
12. "Come back, the bed's cold without you." & 15. "You definitely needed the sleep." How 'bout both, and happy Star Wars day 😁 ---
Briyoni could listen to Jonas breathe for hours.
Not that she usually got the chance; between the two of them he was the early riser, up with or before the sun while she preferred to sleep til nearly noon any day she wasn't on duty. But today a string of so-late-it's-morning-again nights worked things in her favor. He was still in bed, still asleep--still laying on her arm, which was starting to go numb.
Bry flexed her fingers to keep some circulation but made no effort to escape. As excuses to stay in bed went 'my husband was asleep on top of me' was a pretty good one. (She was pretty sure the reverse was among Jonas' favorites, too.) Instead she snuggled closer and enjoyed the even cadence of his breathing.
Until nature started calling, and got insistent enough she couldn't ignore it any longer. She groaned and carefully, slowly as she could, worked her arm out from under Jonas to head for the 'fresher.
She was just finishing when a discontented groan issued from the bedroom. "Bry, c'me back. 'S cold without you..."
He still sounded more than half-asleep(adorable) and she giggled as she called back, "One sec, sweetheart." She finished and rejoined him, nestling close in her same spot against his back. "Better?"
"Mmmh. ...Do I even wanna know the time?" he mumbled.
"Prob'y not," she chuckled, kissing his shoulder blade. "Mornin', sleepyhead."
Jonas hummed. "So it is still morning?"
She twisted to look at the wall chrono. "Technically."
Rather than push out of bed with grumbling about wasting half the day like she expected, he hummed again and shifted to lay on his back so he could look at her. "I feel like I should feel guilty, but-"
"Nah," Bry cut him off, resting a hand on his chest. "A solid week of no more'n an hour or two a night? You definitely needed the sleep." She grinned. "I'm honestly a little surprised you woke up at all. Figured you'd be out all the way 'round til tomorrow to catch up."
"Tempting," he said with a sleepy laugh, rubbing her arm. "But there's stuff to do--"
"Not for us there isn't," Bry interrupted again, smugly this time. "Vica said we can have a day or two off, 'cause of everything we did for this op--"
"Nice of her."
"That's my sister," she snorted. "Quintessential Jedi. An' I figured since she has a spy husband who does, y'know, that a lot more regularly than you just did, she knows what she's talking about." She poked his shoulder.
Jonas smiled, fingers lazily tracing the chevrons that trailed up her arm. "You'll just take any excuse to stay in bed, gorgeous."
"Guilty," Bry said. She bit her lip when his light touch brushed over the sensitive spot by her elbow. "But this time you get to stay with me."
"Hm, whole day bein' lazy with my wife?" His grin was made all the more roguish by the heavy stubble. "I suppose I could be persuaded..."
"Hmm." Bry waggled her brows and rolled over, supporting herself with a hand by each of his shoulders as she smiled down at him. "Is that a hint I need to break out the Nerai charm?"
"Couldn't hurt-"
This time she cut him off with a kiss, one deep enough to feel him groan as his hand slid into her hair. His shoulders came off the bed as he pressed up into it until they had to break for air. Jonas fell back against the pillow and Bry smirked.
"Made my point, handsome?" she purred.
He chuckled. "Very persuasive, gorgeous. However," he pushed himself up so they were sitting with her straddling his hips, "might need a little more convincing..."
"Hard case, huh?" She grinned and ran her fingers through his hair on the way to wrapping her arms around his neck. "You're lucky I like you so I'll put up with this-"
Jonas kissed her, and Bry laughed as she leaned in to deepen it, relishing the catch in his breathing. She'd have him spending the whole day in bed by the time she was done.
She was, as he knew full well, very persuasive.

Bread on Toast 2162 - A Future Man s2 Fanfiction
After saving the world from the Biotics, Josh and Liv are catapulted into Tiger and Wolf’s time, 2162. The gang is separated from each other and contention begins to brew. Tiger and Liv find themselves face to face with an old “friend”, while Wolf gets caught in being someone he’s not, and Josh’s life is on the line. Things can’t possibly get any worse.
Warnings: strong language
Chapter 1: Countdown To A Prologue
Josh woke up in his bed. Josh woke up in his bed. He sat up, eyes wide and confused. He looked around, the walls were the same chevron print, his bedroom layout was the same, he even had the infamous SIN sign still hanging over his bed. This was Joosh’s room. Josh smacked himself. He had to be dreaming, last he checked, he was in Alamore Asylum for blowing up the Kronitorium. He didn’t wake up, this wasn’t a dream. He scrambled out of bed and out of his room. As he crept down the stairs, he heard a voice talking.
“That’s right. Teach you to fuck with me again.” A man’s voice mumbled. “Yeah, there you go. Oh, yeah, you’re struggling.” Josh peeked down the stairs. “I like that, it just gives me more power.” Paul from the gaming store stood in the living room with a headset over his eyes. “Tricked you with a worm!” He yelled at the game he was playing.
“Paul?” Josh asked as he made his way down the stairs.
Paul pulled the headset up to his forehead. “Oh! Joosh! Nice jam jams.” Josh looked down at his pajamas, a black onesie covered in the “JOOSH” logo.
“Thanks…” he murmured.
“This fishing game?” Paul pointed to the screen. “This is one of the best fishing games I have ever played, and I’ve played a lot of fishing games.” As Paul rambled, Josh’s eyes darted around his house, looking lost. “N-not on my work time though, I would never play games while working for you, sir.” Paul clasped his hands together and nodded sheepishly.
“Okay, cool.” Josh said flatly. “One question though. How am I here?” Paul listened and nodded. “The last thing I remember, I was in prison and there was this big flash of light like-“
“Like lighting.” Paul said, finishing his sentence.
Josh cocked his head. “Wait, how do you know that?”
Paul sighed. “It happened again.”
“…what?”
“Okay, let’s go over this again, I guess.” Paul took the headset off and strolled over to the kitchen. Josh trailed behind him looking like a lost and scared puppy. “So, when you were in prison you started seeing these flashes of light and, uh, having seizures.” He opened the pantry and pulled out a box of JOOSH cereal, pouring himself a bowl.
“…okay…”
“Yeah, it was terrible. It gave you complete memory loss. The doctors figured out it was because of the nuts in your prison food.”
Josh nodded slowly. “I mean, yeah, I have a nut allergy but it’s never given me seizures.”
“Well, you have too many nuts, you shake like a maraca.” Paul said, shaking his fists like maracas. “So the prison had to decide whether or not to hire you a private chef or send you home under house arrest.” He explained. “But they figured, you know, hiring a private chef for ‘The Krona-Bomber’ would be a PR nightmare,” Paul shoveled cereal into his mouth. “So they sent you home!”
“So, like, that wasn’t a PR nightmare?” Josh asked.
“It’s kinda like a pick your poison thing, you know? I mean, now you’re eating nut free meals, but occasionally, you’ll see the lighting flashes and then forget everything and we have this same conversation and it’s super boring. I swear I’ve told you this story, like, fifteen times.”
Josh processed the information, blowing out a sigh. “…okay, and you and Tracy still work for me?”
“No, yeah, so, Tracy had a problem working for a terrorist.” Paul said nonchalantly. “Me? Not so much, as long as the checks clear, I’m your man JFUTZ.” He picked up his bowl of cereal and strolled out of the kitchen.
Josh followed after him, head still buzzing with a million questions. “But if I’m on house arrest, why don’t I have one of those ankle bracelet things on? What’s stopping me from just walking out the door?”
The sound of the toilet flushing from the guest bathroom upstairs and the door opening made Josh’s ears prick up. Vincent Skarsgaard walked out right on cue. “The bullet I’d put in the back of your skull.” He answered with a stern look. His face broke into a smile, as if he couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Just kidding, I’d just pop your knee clean out.” He sauntered over to Josh and put a hand on Josh’s shoulder. “Are you seizing up again? Paulie, is he seizing again?”
“Yep,” Paul was seated on the couch, loudly slurping up his cereal. “We’ve got a regular Lucy Whitmore over here.” Paul joked.
Skarsgaard turned to Josh. “That’s the character portrayed by Drew Barrymore in the film ‘50 First Dates’.”
“Oh, please don’t tell me you forgot that.” Paul said with concern. Josh furrowed his brows.
“So you’re…like, my personal guard now?” He asked Skaarsgard.
“Bingo.” He winked at him. Paul started the game he was playing earlier again. “Woah! Vermont Fishing Hole! Any nibbles Paul?” Skarsgaard asked cheerfully.
“Pull up a pole, find out for yourself, my friend!” Paul gestured for Skarsgaard to join him on the couch. Josh stood there, face contorted in confusion.
“Wait, hang on a sec. That doesn’t make any sense.” Skarsgaard and Paul stared at him from the couch. “Prisons deal with food allergies, like, all the time, there must be thousands of options that are, I dunno, better than sending me home.” Skarsgaard and Paul looked at each other like Josh was speaking a foreign language to them. “I’m a convicted terrorist, remember? I was given 101 consecutive life sentences and USA Today said I was the most hated man in America.” Paul and Skaarsgard nodded with knowing smiles on their faces.
“And the New York Post dubbed you ‘Little Boy Blew’!” Paul added enthusiastically.
“Hilarious.” Skarsgaard chuckled. “Because you BLEW up the building. And you’re small in stature.”
Josh stared at them, trying to figure out why they were so cheerful and weird. The doorbell rang, making Josh jump. No one moved, they both just stared at Josh.
“Um…”
“Well, you’re up, go get the door.” Paul said.
“Okay, so the terrorist gets the door, cool…” Josh shuffled over to the door and opened it. No one was there but a gorgeous bouquet of flowers on the welcome mat. He picked it up and looked around, looking for some sort of delivery driver or anyone outside.
“Oh, shit! Are those peonies?” Paul asked excitedly. “I didn’t know they were in season.” Josh shut the door.
“Neither did I,” Skarsgaard’s eyes lit up. “I’m going to have to pick some for the widow Santiago.” He chuckled.
Josh set them on the coffee table, noticing a card that said who they were from. “…Stu Camillo?” He whispered.
Paul and Skarsgaard’s heads turned to him. “Stuart Gavin Camillo?” Skarsgaard used his full name.
“Who’s that? Old flame? You can tell me, I won’t tell your girlfriend.” Paul said, putting an emphasis on “girlfriend”, making Josh’s eyes dart up to meet his, and a lump form in his throat.
“…Liv?” Josh’s voice came out breathless as he almost dropped the card. Liv. “I- is- is Liv here?” He stammered.
“No, she’s not.” Paul brushed off Josh’s question. “So who’s this Stu Camillo? Come on, tell us!” He pried.
Josh blinked, attempting to clear the thought of Liv Branson, the girl he was desperately in love with who had gone missing after he’d blown up the Kronitorium. “Uh, uh,” Josh cleared his throat and shook his head. “He’s just some guy I used to work with.” He mumbled, looking back down at the card. “I have no idea why he would send me flowers.”
“Hm, but why do you think he would?” Paul asked quizzically.
“…I don’t know. I always thought he hated me.” Josh responded quietly.
“Objection. Speculation. Let’s get into that.” Skarsgaard stood from the couch.
“Yeah, why does this guy hate you?” Paul asked.
“I really don’t know. He was just kinda a dick to me?” Josh felt uncomfortable.
“Really? For no reason?” Paul sounded like a therapist with the way he was asking all these questions.
“Why…why do you care?” Josh asked.
“Don’t you find it curious that a man you considered ‘a dick’ would purchase you such a tasteful floral arrangement?” Skarsgaard asked, standing uncomfortably close to Josh. “Clearly it wasn’t a gas station impulse buy.”
“Yeah, these are Maiorcan peonies. You know what the street value of these are?” Paul asked seriously.
“No?” Josh raised an eyebrow.
“$12.50 a bulb.” Paul and Skarsgaard nodded in sync.
“Um, I think I’m gonna go upstairs and lie down for a bit.” Josh tried to back away.
“Wait!” Paul shot up from the couch with an unsettling grin. “Don’t you wanna write him a thank you note first?” He whipped out a thank you note with fancy gold text on the front.
“Huh?”
“Yeah! Etiquette dictates that when someone sends you flowers you have to write them a thank you note!” Paul said like he was in a commercial.
“Since when?”
“Everyone knows you gotta write a note before the last petal falls.” Skarsgaard said in the same tone.
“I don’t have anything to say to Stu.” Josh said.
“Okay, okay, I’ll write it.” Paul pulled out a pen. “Dear Stu,” he started writing. “Thank you for the magnificent Maiorcan peonies.” He looked up at Josh. “I want to add something personal here, maybe a little inside joke you and Stu share, what would that be?”
“What is the deal with you guys and Stu?” Josh asked, hating the way Skarsgaard’s and Paul’s eyes bore into him. “I barely knew the guy.”
“Hey, calm down man.” Paul said and he and Skarsgaard stepped closer to him.
“Yeah, you’re getting all defensive about this Camillo fella.” Paul and Skarsgaard towered over Josh as they got closer. “What does he have on you?”
“Or you on him?” Paul asked.
“Nothing!” Josh held his hands up, backing away. “I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about!”
“Answer our questions about Stu Camillo and this will all be over.” Paul demanded.
“Stop!” Josh yelled as he backed into a wall. “Stop! Stop it! Get away!”
Paul and Skarsgaard stood over Josh as he sank against the wall. The bright lightning flash was back, but this time, bringing three familiar faces with it; Wolf, Tiger, and-
“Liv!” Josh cried in a hoarse voice. Paul and Skarsgaard whipped around, teeth bared.
“Hey.” Liv twirled a blaster around her finger.
“Sup.” Wolf jutted his chin upward.
“Hey.” Tiger slapped a hand on both Liv and Wolf’s backs.
“Die Resistance scum!” Paul yelled as he and Skarsgaard pulled out concealed blasters, shooting at Wolf, Tiger, and Liv. They jumped out of the way.
“Ninja star!” Tiger tossed a ninja star into Skarsgaard’s throat, killing him.
“Double ninja star!” Wolf and Liv each pulled out a ninja star with four spikes, locking them together to create a deadly eight spiked weapon. It lodged itself in Paul’s throat, killing him instantly. Josh’s eyes darted around in shock, from the two dead bodies to Tiger, Wolf, and Liv.
“I give that entrance…three stars.” Wolf said, offering both hands for Tiger and Liv to high five.
“Hey Josh,” Liv winked at Josh.
Josh stared up at them for another moment, jaw dropped to the ground. “What the fuck?”
“Wait, so I’m confused, how were they Biotics? I thought we saved the future.” Josh said as Tiger and Wolf stuffed the two corpses into the garbage bins in the backyard. Liv had her arms strung around Josh’s shoulders, playing with his hair.
“We did.” Tiger said, walking back inside. “It’s the present that’s in danger.”
“Your present,” Wolf said, coming in after her. He looked Josh up and down. “Nice PJs.” He complimented.
“Isn’t he so cute?” Liv giggled, kissing Josh’s face all over and rubbing his chest. She had never been this touchy, Josh didn’t mind though, he’d missed her terribly. He blushed and smiled.
“Liv,” he chuckled.
“No, you both are so cute! Come here!” Wolf gathered them up into a tight hug. Liv was giggling but Josh shot him a confused look.
“This…this is kind of a couples’ thing Wolf, but, I missed you too buddy.”
“Before we blew up the Kronitorium, Biotics executed murder protocol one.” Tiger said loudly, catching their attention.
“Oh…” Josh was brought back to reality. “I don’t like how that sounds at all.” His voice was worried. Liv laced her fingers through his and kept one hand stroking up and down his bicep as they followed Tiger as she paced into the living room.
“Yeah, no, you shouldn’t.” Tiger said, turning to face them. “They activated every Biotic sleeper agent in the world for one singular mission.”
“Killing you.” Wolf piped up.
“Wh- what?!” Josh looked at the three of them with wide eyes. Liv nodded solemnly and leaned her head against his, squeezing his arm comfortingly. “Why? I’m- I’m being John Wick’d?”
“They must have sent your picture out before you blew up the lab.” Tiger explained calmly.
“We call it the last gasp of a dying civilization.” Wolf added.
Josh looked around at them again, his gaze settling on Liv. “Okay, but…the future you guys went back to…”
“Oh, it’s perfect.” Liv sighed dreamily.
“Everything we ever dreamed of.” Wolf said in the same tone.
“Really?” Josh perked up, relieved to know that they had all been in good hands.
“It’s a utopia,” Tiger grinned as she thought of it. “A utopia inside of a paradise. We have robot butlers.”
Josh’s brain immediately went to every movie he’d ever seen where robots had become evil and turned on humanity, his smile falling. “Oh, Tiger-“
“Oh, don’t worry!” Liv piped up, cupping his cheek. “They’re programmed not to turn on people.”
Josh’s eyebrows shot up. Who would have known it would be that simple? “Wow.” He breathed out. “So…we really saved the world?” Tiger nodded with a small, proud smile. Liv kissed him on the cheek and trailed her fingers down the side of his neck. Wolf was wandering up the stairs, taking in the house, happy to be back. “When- when I was in prison I hoped against hope and it kept me going but…but knowing for sure…” his smile grew emotional as he looked at the three people he’d missed the most in prison, the three people he worried most about while he dreaded ever learning of their fates. They were all okay, and right in front of him. “…that makes everything we went through worth it.”
Liv pulled him in for a slow, intimate kiss. Josh had been longing for this for a year. Even Tiger wasn’t disgusted. Wolf appeared by Tiger’s side, a small adoring grin on his face as he watched them.
“I love love.” He cooed.
Josh pulled away as a realization flashed through his head. “Wait,” he muttered, Liv’s lips chased after him as he did so. “If the future was perfect then why’d you guys come back for me? I mean, I told you not to.”
“Well, you were in trouble little buddy.” Wolf said. “And Liv missed you, so I missed you too.” Liv smiled and nodded.
“We also, uh, looked up what happened to you.” Tiger admitted.
“Oh yeah, man, it was tough living our lives knowing those two had killed you so horrifically.” Wolf said.
“See, first rule of murder protocol one is to disrespect the body, and we haven’t allowed Liv to see this picture…” Tiger leaned the screen of her device away so Liv couldn’t see it and she looked away.
“Oh-“ Josh’s stomach dropped and looked away as soon as he saw the mangled mess of limbs and innards that was shown on the screen.
“Yeah…” Tiger and Wolf exhaled, still looking at it.
“We don’t let Liv look at it ‘cause she’s all squeamish and stuff, huh Liv?” Wolf chuckled, still looking at the grotesque picture.
“And because I would be sad.” Liv said calmly, still looking in the other direction.
Josh exhaled, trying to process the image. “Where…are my ears?”
“Oh no, they’re right…” Tiger pointed to the picture. “There, see them? Right inside that.” Josh snuck a glance and immediately regretted it.
“Oh, God.” He shuddered.
“No teammate of ours is gonna die like that.” Wolf said.
“Absolutely not.” Tiger agreed.
“Thank you, guys.” Josh sighed with relief.
“Hey, do you have any food?” Wolf asked.
“Ooh, yeah!” Liv looked back at them. “I’m so hungry.” Wolf did a giddy little dance.
“Can I make you guys something?” He asked excitedly.
“Always!” Tiger slapped Wolf’s back. “Holla!” She turned to Josh. “That’s slang from the future.”
Josh raised an eyebrow. “Like…‘Hollaback Girl’?”
Wolf quickly whipped up an amazing meal, poached vegetables, lots and lots of fruit, and little cheesecakes.
“Mm,” Josh gave a satisfied sigh as he let his head rest against Liv’s which was already resting on his shoulder.
“What the hell did you do to these vegetables?”
“Poached ‘em in duck fat.” Wolf said happily.
“That was so good, I can’t remember the last time I had real food.” Josh said, savoring another bite of his artichoke.
“Well, get used to it, I’m gonna be cooking like this all the time.” Wolf said. “Using fresh local ingredients wherever we go.”
“Wolf’s a chef in the future too.” Liv said, twisting her head up to look at Josh.
“Wait, go?” Josh’s eyebrows furrowed. “Shouldn’t I be, like, laying low and hiding if Biotics are out to get me?”
“And wait for them to come to us? Fuck no.” Tiger said. “We’re bringing the fight to them.”
“They’re spread all around the world. From the white sand beaches of Rio de Janeiro to the Great Pyramids of Giza.” Wolf said, an eager look in his eyes.
“We’re gonna go to all those places?” Josh asked excitedly. “How many sleepers are left?” He sat forward in his seat eagerly.
“After this, 12.” Wolf said. “Each in a location more exotic than the last.” A mischievous glint was in his eyes as he looked between Liv and Josh.
“Kind of romantic, right?” Liv leaned forward too, propping her chin in her hands while her elbows rested on the table, pressing her shoulder into Josh’s. “Exotic.” She whispered again, winking at him. Josh’s face flushed red as he got more and more excited for the mission.
“Are- are you sure that’s not putting me in unnecessary danger?” He asked, cautious as always.
“Well, that’s where things get interesting.” Tiger pulled a syringe from her jacket. “Once you use this bad boy here, they’ll be the ones in danger.”
“CATG-6, AKA, Globyplast Nine.” Wolf said. “AKA, Super Serum 14.”
“It’s gonna make you faster, smarter, stronger, and you’ll be able to walk into a room and instantly feel more confident no matter the situation.” Tiger said as her, Wolf, and Liv all looked at him and nodded with excited smiles.
Josh perked up, smile growing bigger. “Really?” He asked in a timid voice.
“Yeah,” Tiger grinned even more as he reached out and took the syringe from her hand.
He was awestruck. He took the cap off the needle and stuck it into his leg. Tiger and Wolf chuckled at his eagerness and Liv quickly looked up at the ceiling so she wouldn’t see. He felt the effects immediately, feeling like he’d just developed super powers. He gave a shocked laugh, looking down at his hands like they were glowing. “This is awesome! This is incredible! We’re gonna be kicking ass, side by side, just the four of us-“
“Well, not exactly…” Liv said, a small smile on her face.
Buzzing sounds and light flashes came from outside the front door. A woman opened the door stepped in, carrying a satchel and a serious look on her face.
“Got the shield sphere up, that should keep us off their scanners for now.” She said without introducing herself.
“There’s five of us.” Liv bounced her legs excitedly. “Josh, this is Fox, our new tech expert.”
“She may look like a nerd, but you’ll be glad to have her when she hacks us into the Kremlin.” Wolf said.
Josh stood to greet her. “Futturman,” he said, not stuttering like he usually would. “Josh Futturman.”
“Fox, this is him, this is the boy I was telling you about!” Liv called excitedly, also standing up and rushing over, throwing her arms around Fox. Clearly they were good friends. Fox stood stoically but returned the hug, looking Josh up and down.
“Ah, so you’re the boy Liv has told me all about.” She said in a flat tone, similar to Tiger’s, but not as intimidating. “I like the click of your keyboard, but be careful, my spell check doesn’t miss a word.”
“Well, we’ll have to anti-disestablishmentarianism.” Josh joked smoothly, making everyone crack a chuckle.
“I triangulated the location of our first target.” Fox said, taking a map from her satchel, walking to the table and rolling it out. “The ICEHOTEL in Helsinki.”
“I’ve always wanted to visit.” Josh commented as he slid and arm around Liv’s waist, approaching the table together.
“Good, you better pack a parka. And a tuxedo. This is a shadow op, threat level nine.” Fox said.
“You and Liv will be posing as newlyweds infiltrating a Nordic sex cult.” Tiger said casually.
“Murder protocol one dictates to kill on sight, no questions asked.” Wolf said.
“You’ll really have to sell newlyweds with insatiable sexual appetites. Are you ready for that?” Fox asked, looking at Josh and Liv. He looked to Liv, who looked back at him with a look in her eyes that made his head spin.
“I think we can do that.” He smirked, giving her hip a squeeze.
“Oh trust me, they can.” Wolf teased. Liv took the hand he hand on her hip and laced her fingers through his, leaning back into him.
Josh’s smirk fell as he had a realization. “Wait, did you say kill on sight, no questions asked?” Wolf nodded, raising an eyebrow. “Because Paul and Skarsgaard asked me a bunch of questions.”
Tiger straightened up. “What are you talking about?”
“This whole morning they could have just killed me, but instead, they asked me a bunch of questions about Stu Camillo.”
“Why would they ask about Stu?” Liv asked.
“I don’t know, but they were extremely persistent.”
“I don’t like this one bit,” Tiger shook her head. “What are they planning?”
“If they’re breaking MP1, it must be important.” Wolf shook his head too.
“Fox, hack into the internet.” Tiger said loudly. “Find out everything you can about Stu Camillo.”
“On it.” Fox pulled a computer from her satchel, sitting down and typing away.
“You didn’t tell them anything important about Stu, did you?” Liv asked, leaning closer to Josh to look at what Fox was doing.
“Oh, no, no, I don’t know anything important about Stu.” Josh said.
“What does he have on you?” Tiger asked.
“Or you on him?” Fox looked up at him. Josh paused, looking between Tiger and Fox. His eyes flickered back and forth, feeling a sense of uneasiness wash over him.
“I- uh, nothing. Nothing. Liv, you- you worked with Stu, do you know-“
“Well, he yelled at you more than he yelled at me, Josh.” She let out a breathy laugh as she drew her fingers over his knuckles. Josh blinked a couple times, glancing at every person in the room. Tiger and Wolf had never been this nice to him, Liv was never this touchy, and there was something vaguely familiar about Fox.
“I, um, I did just remember that I think I have a Patagonia gift card upstairs in my room, so I’ll go grab that…gear up for Helsinki.” He pried his hand from Liv’s.
“Oh, I’ll come with you.” She said coyly.
“No!” Josh cried, holding his hands out to stop her. “No, uh,” he laughed nervously. “No, that’s okay Liv, it won’t take too long.” He bolted before she could respond. He sprinted up to his room, checking behind him to make sure no one was following. He quietly shut his door and looked wide eyed through his room. He knew he’d seen Fox somewhere before, he couldn’t quite remember where, but he’d seen her face somewhere in JFUTZ’s room. He looked under the bed, reaching under and grabbing a bin full of board games. It hit him that he knew exactly where he’d seen Fox. He pulled out several games before he saw it. Spoink. Fox was right on the cover, and it was unmistakably her.
“…what the fuck is going on?” Josh murmured, heart pounding, mouth going dry. Nothing was right. Feeling light headed, Josh crept back down the stairs to find Tiger, Wolf, and Liv crowded around Fox.
“Oh, Josh!” Wolf called out excitedly. “We’re finding all sorts of things on the internet!” The way Wolf phrased it was so unnatural and way too cheerful for Wolf.
“Oh, cool.” He said, an idea popping up in his head. “Hey, um…” he searched his brain for the perfect lie, a lie that would catch whoever these imposters of Tiger, Wolf, Liv, and Fox. “I just thought of something that might be useful about Stu.”
The four turned away from the computer in sync, eyes trained uncomfortably on Josh. “Really, what?” Tiger asked.
“It was something that you told me that he told you when you guys were on that, uh, date.” Josh said to Tiger, heart picking up speed. “The…whale watching date…remember?”
Tiger squinted her eyes slightly and nodded. “Yeah…” she was clearly lying. “Well, he said a lot of things, so, what specifically?”
“I can’t remember, but you said it was something really, really important and he told you right before the, um, humpback charged your boat.” Josh was proud of himself, he was getting better at lying on the spot. Real Liv would be proud, wherever she was.
“Well, you know, after I saw that angry spout it all went blank.”
“Wrong.” Josh pointed an accusatory finger at her. “You’ve never seen a spout.” He jabbed a finger at Wolf. “You are never this nice to me.” His finger landed on Liv. “You are never this touchy. And you?” He pointed to Fox. “You’re Spoink girl.” Fox’s eyebrow quirked slightly. Their faces showed only a little concern. “What the fuck is going on? Someone please give me some answers.”
Fox stood from her chair. “This will all be over soon.” Josh’s heart plummeted. “Just tell us why you would be a threat to Stu Camillo?”
“You must know his weakness.” Wolf said, stepping closer.
“Some of his secrets?” Tiger added, taking a step too.
“Stop hiding things.” Liv said, sounding hostile. The four of them backed him into the front door.
“I don’t know anything about Stu Camillo, okay?” Josh said frantically, panicking as his back met the hard wood of the door. “He’s a tertiary character in my life!”
“Tell us!” Wolf demanded.
“He’s tertiary!” Josh yelled. His surroundings began to fizzle, his head felt fuzzy.
“Start talking.” Tiger said in her flat, stern voice.
“Now!” All four of them screamed. The world began to dissolve right in front of Josh’s eyes, their screams sounding computerized. It was like everything had turned pixelated as everything dissolved, he looked down at his hands, he was dissolving too.
He opened his mouth to scream for help, but instead felt thick goop enter his mouth, a cold and liquid feeling surrounding his body. It felt like he was drowning and couldn’t breath. Instinctively in his search for air, he launched himself into an upright position, finding he was laying down, face breaking through whatever goop had been covering him. He took in a huge gasp of air, arms and legs flailing, trying to grasp onto something, anything. He couldn’t see, the goop was in his eyes, but he would feel metal, feeling the shape of what possibly was a tub around him, and something heavy covering his head. His hands grasped onto the sides of the metal tub and he scrambled out, quickly realizing he was naked, feeling cold and uninviting air surrounding him. He felt something tug from his head as he clumsily got out of the tub, wiping the goo from his eyes.
He felt clammy, weak, he could barely stand, the whole floor was slippery, and the lights in the room- at least he thought it was a room- were so bright, he still couldn’t see. He took his hands off the tub to reach up and feel what was on his head, only to be met with the feeling of tubes and wires. He took a clumsy step back, his feet slipping out from under him, suddenly he was looking up at the bright lights and-
Seconds later- minutes later- hours later- he didn’t know, he barely came to, struggling to breath. He must have had the wind knocked out of him. He opened his eyes to see a fuzzy figure in front of him, breathing loudly. He felt something sharp enter his neck. He couldn’t form a coherent thought as everything went black.
Josh drew in a deep breath, eyes fluttering open.
“It’s okay.”
He started, everything coming into focus. A big light hung above his head, and he was surrounded by concrete walls.
“You’re safe now.” A woman sat next to him as he lay in a bed. “Let me get this neurocap off you, you’ll be a lot more comfortable.” She said calmly, moving to take off something on Josh’s head. He was hyperventilating, panic setting in.
“What- what the hell was that?” He asked, as she took the cap off his head. “Where am I?”
“That was a simulation crafted from your own consciousness but controlled by outside operators.” She walked around the bed, to the other side, letting Josh get a clear look at her. She looked kind, motherly even, probably about the same age as his mother, super short and slicked back blonde hair, and wearing some sort of uniform. “And you are in a cave.” She was holding something, Josh couldn’t quite see. Her voice was smooth, it calmed him slightly. He felt something like cold metal prongs graze right under his ear.
He gasped and tried to move away as he felt something being pulled out from his neck. “What the f-“ he whispered.
“Don’t move, it only makes the cerebro-derm stickier.” The woman told him as she pulled a long cord from Josh’s neck.
He groaned as he felt the whole thing come out, hoping he never had to feel that feeling again. He looked up to see her coiling whatever it was into a jar of liquid. “I- I can’t remember coming here.” He muttered, shuddering.
She came back to the other side of his neck, her prongs ready. Josh froze, realizing she was about to pull out another one of those things, cerebro-derm or something. “We had to remove a small portion of your memory so you would not suspect you were in a sim.” She said plainly.
As the cerebro-derm exited his neck with a long, cold pull, he gritted his teeth and inhaled sharply. The woman wiped it off as she pulled it all the way out, Josh’s head jerking away as he groaned.
“Don’t worry, it’s just spinal fluid.” She said. Josh stared in disbelief as she coiled it up and stuck into a different jar full of liquid. “There.” She smiled at him, putting a lid on the jar. “Good as new.”
“No, bad, bad, still bad.” Josh sat up, never taking his eyes off of her. “Who…who are you? What the fuck is going on?”
The woman nodded slightly. “My name is Athena and I’m sorry that you had to go through that.” She said gently. “I assure you, it was for your own safety. The truth is so shocking, we felt a simulation was a more humane way to ease you into it.” She put a gentle hand on Josh’s shoulder. “I really think you should lie down for this.” She said in almost a whisper. Josh hesitated, but let himself lie down. She looked down at him. “I am from the future.” She said slowly and gently, waiting for his reaction.
Josh looked off to the side and back to her, waiting for the part he had to lay down for, but she said nothing else. “…and…” Athena looked confused, still waiting for the weight of her revelation to hit him. Josh realized that’s all she had to say. “Okay…”
“My comrades and I traveled back in time to find you because we believe you may be the only person with the skills to save our world,” She said, gently still. “A savior. I know, I know, it boggles the mind.” She watched as Josh shook his head and sighed. “You must believe me,” she continued, mistaking Josh’s devastation for shock. “In 2026, Dr. Stu Camillo will create a super cure for all diseases leading to a global war-” she watched as Josh nodded his head along with her as she spoke.
“Between the ones who receive the cure and the ones who don’t, right?” He finished her sentence dully.
“Well, yes, that's exactly it, but there’s no way you could possibly know that.” Athena sounded astounded.
Josh sat back up, rubbing his hands over the rough blanket covering his torso. “Yeah, I know it because I lived it.” He grumbled. “Fuck, it didn’t work.” He pressed his palms into his eyes, a headache forming behind them.
“I don’t understand.” Athena whispered.
Josh pulled his hands away, staring straight ahead. “I fought, I struggled. I suffered, I sacrificed, I saw a girl's head get blown up in my face, I left my family, lost the girl I love, killed a man I respected, and I end up in the exact same place?” Josh closed his eyes. “Okay, so, Stu is the new Kronish, same shit, different fucking timeline.” He hung his head.
Athena processed all that he’d just said. “So you’re a Time Warrior?” She asked softly.
Josh ran his hands down his face, thinking about it, blowing out a huff of air. “Yeah, I guess you could say that.”
“Then you know the stakes we face.” She said softly. “The fate of humanity is in the balance, we need you.”
Josh sighed. “No.” He whispered, shaking his head, still looking straight ahead. “You know, after spending a year in prison for the criminally insane, for apparently absolutely no reason, I don’t feel like being a ‘savior’ anymore.”
Athena nodded understandingly and looked down at her knees. “I’ve upset you. That’s the last thing I wanted to do. You must rest.” She whispered, exiting the room. As Josh looked around for a moment, he realized it was more like a cellar. His room in prison was nicer and cushier. He shifted his legs, hearing the clank of a chain and feeling a cuff around his ankle that he’d barely noticed.
“Seriously?” He loudly seethed. “Great way to treat your savior. Thank you.” He called sarcastically, falling back against the bed.
Josh wasn’t sure how long he laid on his side staring at the wall when he heard the door scrape open again. It was Athena.
“Here,” she said. He heard the sound of a metal tray being put on the table. “Eat something.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“Being in the sim cranks your metabolism 14.6 times normal. You’re in a caloric freefall, risking hypo-auto-cannibalization.” She said, sitting next to him again.
Josh looked over his shoulder. “Oh, alright, how about this?” He sat up, pulling the blanket off of his chained ankle. “How about I start by gnawing on my fucking leg? Why am I shackled to the bed?”
“The restraint is for your safety.” Athena said. Josh clenched his jaw and looked away. “I once saw a man flail so violently from post-sim hallucinations that he shattered his femur.” She sounded solemn. “The jagged bone ripped right through the meat of his thigh-“
“Fine. Leave it on.” Josh muttered, grabbing a small cup of water from the tray.
“Easy on the liquids,” Athena said as he began to sip it. “The tranquilizer we gave you can lead to bladder control issues.”
Josh finished gulping down the water and set the empty cup back on the tray. “I play a lot of video games, I have no problem holding my U.”
“Understood.” Athena raised her eyebrows, seemingly impressed.
“Putting me in the simulation and making me think I’d saved the world was pretty mean.” Josh snipped.
“We didn’t make you think you’d saved the world, that part was a projection of your own subconscious.” Athena said. Josh slowly closed his mouth. “All we controlled were the questions about Stu, you filled in the rest.”
“You hijacked my brain just to ask me questions about Stu Camillo?”
“Yes, but the simulation told us so much more. We thought it was something you knew. Turns out, it’s something you are.”
Josh didn’t say anything as he let that sink in. “…what am I?” He asked quietly after a moment of silence.
“That’s what we’re here to find out. There’s a power in you greater than any we’ve ever seen.” She whispered softly, smiling comfortingly.
“Like…a super power?” Josh asked, trying not to sound excited.
“Exactly.” She nodded. “Now, I understand you’ve been through something like this before, and I know why you’re hesitant to try it again, but if you join us, I promise you that it’ll be different this time. You won’t end up behind bars. You’ll end up in the history books as the greatest hero the world has ever known.”
Josh thought for a second. “And if I say no?”
“We’ll wipe your memory and put you right back in prison.”
“You can do that?”
“Of course. The only side effect would be the lingering sensation that something was off, but you would never really be able to tell what it was.”
“That sounds like it would drive me insane.” Josh mumbled, sighing. “Okay…okay, if I do this it is not to make it into the history books. It’s to make sure there’s still a history to be written about…inside the books.”
Athena nodded stoically. “Well said, Joosh. Does this mean you’re in?”
Josh nodded. “Call me Josh. I’m in.”
Athena held out a hand for him to shake. “Welcome to the Pointed Circle.” Josh shook her hand.
“Pointed Circle? That’s a cool name. Oh,” he looked at the wall he had stared at. “That also explains that pointed circle.” He pointed to the circle of different points and jagged lines that was carved into the wall. “I thought it was the sun or something.”
“There are some others who will want to meet you, Odin, Vishnu, Muluku, Xenu,” Athena said.
“I would love to meet the whole…the whole gang.”
“And as a member of the Pointed Circle, you’ll need a code name as well.” Athena said. Josh nodded along. “How does Jesus sound to you?”
Josh thought about it. “Seems kinda risky…”
“Allah?” She suggested.
“…uh…Jesus is fine.”
“Good. Eat your supper. I’ll return soon with the others.” Athena stood and left the room. Josh sighed and looked up at the ceiling, feeling a sort of excitement creep back into him, like the way it had back when he’d gone back to 1969 with Tiger and Wolf. He could be a savior again.
Against his will, he felt his bladder relieve itself, maybe he did have a problem with holding his U. “Oh- oh shit! Stop! Stop, stop, stop, stop!” He’d peed himself like a baby. Awesome. “I can’t meet Xenu like this, that’s disgusting!” He looked around frantically. He spotted a high shelf that had extra sheets amongst other things. “Bingo bango.” He muttered to himself. He awkwardly crawled over the bed, ankle still chained, hopping on one leg to the shelf, dragging the whole bed with him.
He fastened the sheets into a toga, looking straight out of Ancient Greece. He tore a piece from the bottom and used it as a sash, Liv had told him once something like that would be considered sash, not a belt. Liv. Josh shook his head, clearing thoughts of her away. He had to focus, he was about to be faced with some really, really important people. Maybe if they saved the world he could ask them to go back and save Liv too, if that wouldn’t be too much trouble.
He noticed a grate that was propped against the wall. He hopped over to it, pushing it aside to find a vent.
Perfect! He thought to himself, bundling up his ruined clothes to throw them in there. He could hear voices on the other side. He paused.
“Joosh is on board.” It was Athena. “We need all techs working on an upload machine.”
Another voice spoke. “You’re so convinced this will work, but how do we know he’s the one?”
“He crashed the simulation in less than ten minutes. Achilles wants us to harness that power and use it to bring down the entire system then we strike.” Athena’s voice said.
Another voice said, “The attack is on Launch Day. We’ll need to weaponize him before then.” Josh’s brows furrowed.
“It’ll take some time to replicate the induction cortex. You’ll have to keep him calm until then.”
Athena spoke. “That won’t be a problem.”
“Okay, ‘cause this procedure will one hundred percent kill him.”
“‘Kill him’?” Josh breathed out, pushing away from the vent in horror.
“Soldiers die for lesser causes. His death will be the first, but it won’t be the last.” He heard Athena continue. “A war is coming, it’s time we took back control.”
Josh’s breathing was erratic as he scrambled to his feet. “They’re gonna kill me, oh God, oh God,” he panicked, tugging at the chain. He rattled it, and looked around with wide eyes for anything he could try to use to help him escape. His eyes landed on a spoon, it looked flimsy enough. He easily bent it and used it as a screwdriver, unscrewing the part of the bed he was chained to. “Righty tighty, lefty loosey, righty tighty, lefty loosey-“ he repeated to himself over and over until the metal clanged to the floor. Josh waited for someone to come bursting in and shoot him with a tranquilizer again, but no one did, not yet. He could hear footsteps approaching the door.
He stood up, chain in hand. He started to swing it around like a weapon, ready to take out whoever entered and make his escape. A giant man opened the door, a metal piece in his mouth that just amplified his heavy breathing.
“Nighty night.” Josh let the chain fly at the giant’s head, but it never made contact because the giant dodged it. The last thing Josh saw was the chain flying back at his face and- “Fu-“ he didn’t even finish the word.
His eyes flew open and his head throbbed. Josh couldn’t have been out for long if the door was still open and no one was in sight. He scooped up his chain and stood up, head pounding and legs wobbly. He could hear footsteps. Lots of them. His eyes darted to the vent, he could hide in there until they left. As he crawled inside, he tried not to think of the fact that there could have been spiders.
“You left the door open?” He heard Athena scold as he pulled the grate as quietly as he could over the opening of the vent. She sighed. The heavy breathing giant was back too. “When they ripped out your tongue, did they get your brain too?” He heard garbled speech before Athena snapped again. “You know what? Don’t. Spread out, search the halls. He can’t have gotten far.” The volume at which she spoke sounded like she was speaking to several more people. “Achilles will hear of this.” She muttered. He heard the footsteps fade.
Waiting a couple more seconds, Josh reached out and pushed the grate aside. He scampered out, hoisting up his makeshift toga, and bolting, carrying his chain like a little purse. As he took off down the hall, he kept his eyes peeled for anyone sent to hunt him down.
“God, it stinks in here.” He heard a feminine voice complain. He pressed himself against the wall. He looked around frantically, spotting a closet door and slipping inside.
“Yeah, this cave is nasty.” He heard another voice say as he gently closed the door. As he heard the two people pass by, he slipped out and kept running. He ran past a door with a small window, paused, and took a step back to peer inside.
“TTD!” He whispered, immediately recognizing the device that sat on a table inside. He jiggled the doorknob, trying to get it, but it was locked. He looked at his chain, holding up the thick cuff. He hit it against the glass, the sound reverberated off the walls. He gritted his teeth and hit the glass harder. He heard voices, probably coming his way. He grit his teeth harder as he realized he’d have to leave it. He ran through the maze of hallways, up and down several flights of stairs, when he saw it.
“The light at the end of the tunnel!” He practically sobbed as he saw the exit, the sun lighting his way out. His feet burned as they hit the hot sand, but Josh barely noticed as he took in the sight in front of him. A giant city- no, a giant futuristic city was in front of him,and it dawned on Josh that he had no idea where he was.
“Hachi machi…” was all he managed to gasp out.

When it comes to transforming your home, wall art decor is one of the simplest and most effective ways to make a big impact. Whether you're revamping your living space or designing your dream home, the right decor can elevate your walls and add personality to your interiors. Engineered wood decor has become a popular choice for many homeowners due to its versatility, affordability, and eco-friendliness. Let's dive into how you can use stylish engineered wood to create a stunning visual statement in your home.
Why Choose Engineered Wood for Wall Art Decor?
Engineered wood is not only durable but also offers a sophisticated finish that complements a wide range of styles—from contemporary to rustic. Unlike solid wood, engineered wood is more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. Whether you're looking to enhance your Indian home décor or experiment with global trends, this material provides endless possibilities.
So, how can you incorporate engineered wood into your home décor online purchases or DIY projects? Keep reading for practical and creative ideas.
1. Create a Statement Wall
A statement wall made of engineered wood panels can become the focal point of any room. These panels are available in various finishes, textures, and patterns, making it easy to find something that fits your style. For example, you can opt for herringbone or chevron patterns to add a modern twist to your living room or bedroom.
To enhance the look, pair the wall with complementary DIY wall hangings or the best wall clock to create a cohesive design. The combination of engineered wood and personalized decor adds depth and warmth to your space.
2. Floating Shelves for Functional Decor
Floating shelves made of engineered wood are an excellent way to combine functionality with aesthetics. Use these shelves to display your favorite books, plants, or collectibles. The natural wood tones can soften the look of a room and make it feel cozier.
If you’re shopping for home décor online, you can easily find floating shelves that match the color and texture of your walls. These shelves not only look stylish but also help keep your space organized.
3. Wall Art Panels
Engineered wood wall art panels are a fantastic option for those who want to add a unique touch to their home. These panels often come pre-designed with intricate patterns or carvings, making them a quick and easy way to enhance your walls.
Whether you’re a fan of minimalism or ornate designs, there’s an engineered wood panel that will suit your taste. To maximize their impact, consider mixing and matching different sizes or designs. You can even add a touch of greenery by incorporating small planters into the layout.
4. DIY Wall Hangings
If you’re feeling crafty, engineered wood is a great material for DIY wall hangings. From macramé-inspired designs to geometric shapes, the possibilities are endless. These projects are not only budget-friendly but also give you the chance to create something truly unique for your space.
Pro tip: Combine engineered wood with other materials like metal or fabric for a layered and textured look. This is a great way to add a personalized touch to your Indian home décor.
5. Engineered Wood Clocks
The best wall clock is not only functional but also serves as a stylish decor piece. Engineered wood clocks come in various designs, from sleek and modern to vintage-inspired. Place a statement clock on a bare wall to instantly elevate the look of your room.
When shopping for clocks, platforms like dbeautify.com or MyStore offer a wide range of options that cater to different tastes and budgets. Be sure to choose one that complements your existing decor for a harmonious look.
6. Wooden Wall Grids
A wooden wall grid made of engineered wood is perfect for those who love a mix of functionality and style. These grids can be used to hang notes, photos, or small planters, making them an interactive piece of decor. They're especially useful for home offices or study areas.
7. Backdrop for Art and Photographs
If you have a collection of artwork or family photos, consider using engineered wood as a backdrop. A wooden wall creates a warm and inviting setting that beautifully frames your memories. Choose a neutral tone to let your art stand out, or opt for a bold finish to create contrast.
8. Accent Pieces
Small engineered wood accent pieces can make a big difference in your wall art decor. Think mirrors with wooden frames, decorative hooks, or even wall-mounted planters. These pieces can be arranged in creative ways to add interest to your walls without overwhelming the space.
Shopping Tips for Wall Art Decor
When looking for engineered wood decor online, keep these tips in mind:
Check Reviews: Platforms like MyStore and dbeautify.com often feature customer reviews that can help you make informed decisions.
Measure Your Space: Before buying anything, measure your wall to ensure the decor fits perfectly.
Mix and Match: Don’t be afraid to combine engineered wood with other materials like metal, glass, or fabric for a unique look.
Stick to a Theme: Whether it’s modern, rustic, or eclectic, sticking to a theme ensures a cohesive design.
Maintaining Engineered Wood Decor
To keep your engineered wood decor looking its best:
Dust Regularly: Use a soft cloth to remove dust and prevent scratches.
Avoid Moisture: While engineered wood is durable, prolonged exposure to moisture can cause damage.
Use Gentle Cleaners: Avoid harsh chemicals and opt for mild cleaning solutions.
Final Thoughts
Engineered wood offers endless possibilities for enhancing your walls. From statement panels to DIY wall hangings, this versatile material can transform any space into a stylish haven. Whether you prefer shopping for home décor online or enjoy hands-on projects, there’s something for everyone.

Revolutionize Your Space: Unique Wallpaper for Wall Trends of 2025
Wallpaper is no longer just a functional element in your home decor – it’s a statement piece that sets the tone for the entire room. As we move into 2025, wallpaper trends are becoming more innovative, stylish, and versatile than ever before. Whether you’re looking to revamp your living room, bedroom, or even your office, wallpaper for wall can create a bold and dynamic look that transforms your space.
Tumblr media
Why Wallpaper for Wall is the Trend of 2025
In recent years, wallpaper has evolved from traditional, floral patterns to modern, cutting-edge designs. 2025 is the year to embrace wallpaper’s ability to create drama, depth, and personality in your home. With advancements in material technology, wallpaper is now easier to apply, more durable, and available in a variety of styles that can suit any aesthetic. It’s a low-maintenance yet high-impact way to bring your walls to life.
Top Unique Wallpaper Trends for 2025
Bold Patterns and Geometrics: Say goodbye to dull and predictable designs! In 2025, bold geometric patterns and oversized motifs are making their mark. From hexagons to chevrons, and even abstract shapes, these eye-catching designs can instantly make any room feel more dynamic and modern.
Nature-Inspired Designs: As more people embrace biophilic design, nature-inspired wallpaper is soaring in popularity. Think botanical prints, forest-inspired murals, and tropical foliage. These designs bring the outdoors inside, creating a calming and refreshing atmosphere in your home.
3D Wallpaper for Wall: For a truly unique twist, 3D wallpaper is taking over. With textures and patterns that literally pop off the wall, this type of wallpaper adds visual interest and depth to your space. Whether it's a bold geometric design or a natural scene, 3D wallpaper can turn your walls into a piece of art.
Minimalist and Monochrome Wallpapers: If you prefer a more subtle approach, minimalist and monochrome wallpapers are the way to go. In 2025, these designs focus on simplicity, elegance, and clean lines. Perfect for those looking to create a calming, understated environment without overwhelming the space.
Textured and Metallic Wallpapers: Adding texture to your walls can create a more luxurious feel, and metallic wallpapers take this to the next level. Gold, silver, and copper accents can add a touch of glamour to your room, while textured wallpapers (like linen or velvet) offer a tactile experience that can elevate the overall atmosphere of the space.
How to Choose the Right Wallpaper for Wall in 2025
Selecting the right wallpaper is essential for ensuring that your space reflects your style and personality. Here are a few tips to help guide your decision:
Room Size: If you have a smaller space, lighter, airier wallpapers with delicate patterns can make the room feel bigger. For larger rooms, go for bolder patterns or darker tones to create a cozier, more intimate atmosphere.
Color Scheme: Your wallpaper's colors should complement your room's existing color palette. 2025 trends favor natural hues like earthy greens, muted blues, and neutral tones, but feel free to experiment with pops of color if they align with your vision.
Mood: Wallpaper can set the mood of a room. For a serene bedroom, opt for soft pastel tones or nature-inspired designs. For a lively living room, bold patterns and vibrant colors can create a fun and energetic vibe.
Where to Buy Wallpaper Online in 2025
The convenience of shopping online makes it easier than ever to find the perfect wallpaper for your walls. You can browse various styles, order samples, and have the wallpaper delivered to your doorstep. Leading online stores like Life n Colors and other reputable wallpaper retailers offer curated collections of the latest trends in wallpaper for walls, ensuring that you have access to unique and high-quality options.
DIY Tips for Installing Wallpaper Like a Pro
Installing wallpaper can seem intimidating, but it’s easier than you might think. Here’s a quick guide:
Prepare the Surface: Make sure your wall is clean, smooth, and dry.
Measure and Cut: Measure your walls and cut your wallpaper accordingly, leaving some excess for adjustments.
Apply the Paste: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for applying the adhesive.
Install the Wallpaper: Carefully align the wallpaper, smoothing out any bubbles or wrinkles as you go.
Trim the Edges: Use a sharp utility knife to trim excess wallpaper along the edges.

hey scout!!
I'm getting a new place in February (first time living alone 😬). What are you thinking of decor-wise for your future place?? I'm slowly buying furniture for mine, and I love seeing how others design their spaces! 🩷
hello anon!! im a very big fan of dopamine decor lol i'd rather die than have my living space look like a sterile doctors office waiting room </3
my partner has this funky rug in our living room thats pink, light blue, grey, khaki (very pastel shades in almost a chevron print? but not really??) so i was thinking of finding a couch in a nice orange shade, and accenting it with some orange, and pink arts. probably some chrome in there too, little disco balls hanging from the ceiling and stuff. i do however hesitate to commit to a bright orange couch because what if i wanna change my mind on decor lol. my personal color taste is green/sage and earthy tones (as if my theme doesnt reflect that)
the kitchen has this bar area with a little like counter top (clearly meant to be a space for two people to sit, but ill probably use that little area to put my coffee maker and such out) but theres a wall right behind it so i was thinking of some sculpture art like this and this (not sculpture but whatever) and this . im trying to find a bundle of art prints i can download and send out to print, but im having a hard time finding things on etsy for that since a lot of it seems stolen or just very... idk run of the mill basic
i do collect records, and have quite the collection of vintage ones (i inherited my late grandfathers, they're my pride and joy) and wanted to get some displays to hang them above a record player stand, along with some vintage posters (like this or maybe like this)
i've slept on a full mattress for years and am saving my tax return this season to buy a mattress and bed frame and so far the vibe is a low bedframe and some rattan furniture (i love rattan and wanted some in the living room but my partner is not a fan. my partner and i actually sleep in separate bedrooms most nights of the week so my own room can be decorated however i choose)
it also has a balcony!! so im very excited to get a little table out there to sit out at and eat dinner with my partner (we are big fans of cooking a meal and eating together)
but yes!! thank u so much for asking i've yapped to anyone i can about this place and i cant wait to show y'all some pictures of it this summer! i officially signed my lease and sent in the deposit over the weekend so i think im in the clear for the place lol (weird enough this is a really known rental company in my city but they haven't asked for like any proof of income so im like????) i hate moving and changing my living situation too much so im hoping to stay at this place for a few years !!
