Things I overheard in Disney World
"I think I ejaculated with all that running. " 17 year old walking by my table.
"Do you think they fuck in the suits?" Same 17 year old in line to see Mickey
"This turkey is overcooked." "What makes you say that?" "There's no pink in it." A grown ass man and his poor girlfriend.
"Oh my god you are so stupid. " Said poor girlfriend to the grown ass man.
"Why did you think there'd be snow?!? We're in freaking Florida!" A exasperated mom to her 12 year old
" *unintelligible southern noises*" A old man with no front teeth
"David, nobody cares about that anymore." The wife of Mr. No front teeth

Malevolent is a love story, but it's not a romance.
It's a story about loving your friends openly and passionately, because you have seen each other at your best and your worst, and you got through it all together, hand in hand. It's about loving your family, and deciding who is a part of your family and who isn't, who you will place as your foundation in life and who you will be the foundation for. It's about loving strangers, seeing the ugly mess known as humanity and cherishing its imperfect beauty, learning to appreciate all its complexity and confusion. It's about loving yourself, finding strength from whatever source you can and using it to fight your own hate and despair, not necessarily removing it entirely, but overshadowing it with hope for yourself.
It's about loving when it's hard, loving people who don't deserve it, loving things that don't love you back, loving when you're scared, loving when it hurts, loving as a defense, loving as a weapon, loving as a survival tactic. It's about loving despite everything that lurks in the dark and the pain and the terror, because without love, we have nothing. It's a love story.

I feel so sick to my stomach this scene has me in such a chokehold /posssss
THE WAY VAGGIE AND CHARLIE ARE LIKE- HIS WINGWOMEN?? AND SO WAS ANGEL A LITTL BIT AFTER THEY ALL WERE ENCOURAGING THEIR FELLOW NOODLE MAN TO CONFESS TO HIS CRUSH I CANT 😭😭
Him taking off his hat before talking to her as a sign of respect, and then chickening out of telling her his feelings really hits harder when you see him ACTUALLY confess that he loves her later on during the battle right before sacrificing himself because he gained so much confidence since then.
this crush is DEFINITELY not a new thing either- he complimented her bombs and explosives bc he admired them for such a long while since they became rivals and I could definitely see him thinking over and over about how incredible the bombs she made were and how incredible SHE is bc he's a nerdy dork like that <3
HIS LITTLE BLUSHES R SO CUTE TOO and Cherri definitely was feeling SMTH- her seeming a little nervous and awkward as he compliments her and the way she leaned in right before he hurriedly slithered away and the way she looked kind of upset when he just ran away UGHH💖💖
Them becoming friendly and getting along before the battle was already enough to keep me going BUT TGE CONFESSION AND THE KISS IS MAKING ME??!!????! IM NOT OKAYYHN IM DHJKDKAHHAHHENENHANJFURHNANHWHWHHB$heh))$

Hey
Hey
So yeah I like totally disappeared again, I know. Not completely, just lurking in the background.
A lot of shit as gone down.
Like a lot.
I'm not going to go into too many details, just some deaths, some near deaths, some mental health issues.
Do you know how hard it is to find a therapist in a small town were everyone knows everyone's business?
Anyway I'm slowly getting back to writing. Have a few drafts saved up.
So like we cool?

#for context uhmm how do i explain this#so around a few weeks after Jd arrives Bruce is like “Hey... where are the others?”#and Jd is like “ooooh 🤪🤪 he doesnt know...”#Since at this time JD believes that the entire tribe is dead. including his brothers and grandma#so Jd has to take Bruce to the now abandoned troll tree and give him the bad news#Bruce doesnt believe it at first. even if the tree is abandoned they cant be dead? right?? they cant be#so he rushes over to their grandma's pod. thinking that theyre just in hiding and waiting for them to return#and all Bruce is able to find in the empty pod is Branch's old stuffed toy Croco#which solidifies to Bruce that everyone is dead. their friends their family. everyone#Bruce is obviously devastated by the news. he doesnt show it a lot but he doesnt take it too well#he ends up bringing Croco with him back to Vacay Island and patches Croco up#since Croco is a bit worn out due to being left in the pod for years#and since then Bruce always keeps Croco hidden in his hair. both as a memoir of his baby brother#and also a reminder of how he failed as an older brother... ouch#ofc the others arent dead. its just that now both Jd AND Bruce believe that the rest of the trolls are dead#also King Trollex is there bc i wanted to put him there. I like Trollex :]#a knee ways more bb au art i promise the next bb au art will be lighthearted#tho now im gonna work on the next violet gijinka batch bc ive been starving my friendlocke audience for too long#sorry friendlocke fans ill feed u next dw#cherris canvas#trolls#trolls band together#trolls john dory#john dory trolls#trolls bruce#bruce trolls#king trollex#beach bros au#sorry for rambling in the tags i hope u dont mind ahaha

Sir Pentious, to the other angels: Thisss is my arch nemesissss, Cherri Bomb.
Cherri Bomb, gently jabbing his arm: Your girlfriend, you dork.
Sir Pentious: My girlfriend! Even better... 🥹

Not to be an English major, but my genuine favorite part of Malevolent is how it handles its themes. Overall Malevolent tackles such profound and interesting ideas to chew on, but it's specifically the approach it takes to those ideas that really gets me going.
For example, one of the major themes across several seasons and characters is identity. The podcast asks pretty standard questions like "How do you define yourself?" and "How do others define you?" But it doesn't choose to stop there! It constantly expands on that idea, and it also asks things like "Which of those definitions is the 'real' you?" and "Are any of them right, are any of them wrong?" and "Is there even a singular definitive version of you?"
Malevolent works out from one idea and poses all these rich lines of discussion and questioning, and then just. Doesn't provide an answer! Or, at least, not a single, one-size-fits-all answer. Instead, it gives us multiple possibilities:
John's arc tells us that your identity is what you make— what you say, what you decide— and no one else's definition of you matters. Arthur's arc tells us that you can get stuck in a rigid, self-deprecating personal identity, so you need others' perspectives to help you see and love the real "you." Larson's story tells us that you do not have the right to selectively accept/deny parts of your identity and actions, and that others can see the whole of "you" whether or not you take accountability for it. Noel's story tells us that you can choose what parts of your past define you, and that leaving behind all the other versions of yourself can be beautiful and empowering. Kayne's story tells us that leaving behind other versions of yourself is akin to murder, killing off the pieces that you don't like and pretending like you've evolved past your own self. Yellow's arc tells us that your identity is fluid and can easily be influenced or manipulated by what others tell you, and by that point you've changed your own self-definition to something entirely new that can be just as true or untrue as the old you.
With all of these characters and with every other character throughout the show, we get a unique answer to the question "What is identity?" And if you look further at all the characters, you can break down their different arcs over the seasons and find even more answers just within that one character's development and story. And some of the answers we get correspond, and some of them contradict, and none of them are the right answer, and all of them are the right answer.
Malevolent takes one idea, and then it crafts an incredibly nuanced and humanistic exploration of said idea that adapts with respect to whatever situation or character it is applied to. And it uses this approach with all of its themes: identity, morality, guilt, grief, love, hope, etc.
Malevolent knows that life is messy, that people are complicated and contradictory and diverse and ever-changing, that no part of the universe or humanity can ever be explained or defined in a simple manner. Malevolent knows all that, and it wants to help us understand that too.
Malevolent shows us that nothing can ever be easily understood or answered, and it shows us that that fact is beautiful.
