Firstly, Chhena Poda is not burnt cheese cake... A cheese dessert from the state of #Odhisha whose flavours are predominently derived from the caramelization of sugar. It was an accidental discovery of 12th century when the owner of a confectionary decided to add sugar and seasonings to leftover cottage cheese and left it overnight in an oven that was still warm. The dessert has been popularized by the Odisha Milk Federation through mass production and marketing campaigns. Though the Chenna Poda is now available almost around the country, the best are the stills which come from Odisha. I couldn't have been more overjoyed when friend Rajdeep got a case full of Chenna Poda from his hometown and my diet went for a toss. Even after travelling for so long, the freshness of them was still intact and I almost slurped up one full cake. So next time you are travelling the eastern state don't forget their sweet surprise.
