What a glorious day for the first Wednesday at Green City Market. We hope you were able to catch the fantastic segment with @prairiegrasscafe @chefsarahstegner and @froggymeadow Farm's Jerry Boone on @wgnnews yesterday afternoon. Shopping the Market is so important to the Farmers and community. It makes for a beautiful experience and shopping for fresh, sustainable local goods doesn't get any better. @greencitymarket is open in Lincoln Park every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 am to 1 p.m. There are upwards of 40 farmers, vendors selling homemade food products and delicious ready-to-eat foods like baked goods and tacos. Wow. Dinner tonight brought back wonderful memories. Prime Rib was a family holiday favorite expertly prepared by my mother. Thanks to @chefsarahstegner and the @prairiegrasscafe team, we enjoyed a fabulous Christmas dinner. The beef came raw but totally spiced with directions on how to perfectly cook and perfect it was! THE LEE INITIATIVE PARTNRS with @chefsarahstegner FOR HOLIDAY MEAL The LEE Initiative funding hundreds of meals for restaurant workers’ families at Prairie Grass Cafe The holiday meal will be available for pickup 11 am – 2 pm on December 22 at Prairie Grass Cafe (601 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook). Meals will come fully cooked but cold with reheating instructions. Pre-ordering by calling 847-205-4433 is required. The LEE Initiative, a non-profit launched by Lindsey Ofcacek and Edward Lee to address issues in the restaurant industry, is funding a holiday dinner to be picked up at Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook, IL for furloughed or unemployed restaurant workers. Chef Sarah Stegner of Prairie Grass Cafe is a two-time James Beard Foundation Award Winner and is eager to feed the restaurant community in her area, saying ““My partner, George Bumbaris and I, as well as the entire Prairie Grass Cafe team are honored to participate in this much needed program to support restaurant employees that have been laid off. These people have worked tirelessly for years to provide enjoyment to the community. It is the least we can do by giving back. We are so grateful to The LEE Initiative for making it possible,” Stegner’s menu below will feature products from The LEE Initiative’s Restaurant Reboot Relief Program’s partner farms in Chicago, including Slagel Family Farms, Genesis Growers, Capriole Goat Cheese, and Three Sisters Garden.
