Bucktommy cuddling in bed, please? Doesn't have to lead to anything, just them being soft.
Since their third date, when Buck told Tommy about his fears after getting struck by lightning and how he spent so long texting Bobby every morning to make sure everything was alright, Buck woke up to a text from Tommy.
Without fail.
Five straight months of 6am texts. Even the days he was working, when he was already awake and had been for a while, he'd still get a text to check in.
That's why Buck's heart nearly sunk directly to the floor when he checked his phone one morning at 6:32am, right after they'd gotten back from a call, to see that Tommy hadn't texted him.
He hesitated briefly, but sent Tommy a heart, followed by a everything okay?
Another thing Tommy had always been great at is answering Buck back quickly. The only time he didn't, or couldn't, was when he was working.
And he wasn't working today.
It didn't take long for Bobby to notice him glaring down at his phone.
“What's wrong, Buck?”
“Oh,” Buck put his phone back in his pocket, waving Bobby off. “It's nothing. No big deal.”
“You sure? Looks like it might be. Everything okay?”
Buck let out a sigh, then explained. “Tommy hasn't missed a morning of texting me for five months. Every single morning, six on the dot.”
“I'm guessing there was no text today?”
Buck shook his head. “No. I texted him, but I haven't heard back. Maybe... Maybe he just overslept? Or forgot, or something.”
“Okay,” Bobby replied with a nod, “well, go get changed and head on out. We've got it covered.”
“But, Cap-”
“Shift ends in thirty minutes anyway. And we both know you won't be able to let it go until you make sure he's alright. Need Eddie to tag along?”
“N- No, I.. I'm sure I'm overreacting.”
“Text me and let me know once you know. And Buck?”
“Yeah, Cap?”
“Try not to panic.”
Not willing to make any promises, Buck turned and headed for his locker.
*****
It took him nearly half an hour to get to Tommy's place, and he didn't think twice about using the key Tommy had given him a couple months back to let himself in. Especially since he still hadn't heard a word from him.
“Tommy?” He spoke cautiously as he entered the house, trying to keep calm against all the negative thoughts running through his mind.
No answer.
The house was dark. It didn't look like Tommy had been up at all. If it weren't for his car out front, Buck wouldn't think he was there.
He moved further into the house, heading down the hall toward Tommy's bedroom.
“Tommy?” His voice was shaky this time, unsteady.
The door squeaked as he pushed it open, but he immediately sighed a breath of relief when the body tangled up under the covers moved.
“Evan?” Tommy questioned, eyes squinting toward him in confusion. “Why're you here?”
“I'm checking on you.” Buck toed off his shoes and walked over to the bed, crawling up beside Tommy. “Are you okay?” he asked, reaching out and resting a hand over his forehead. “You don't feel hot.”
“M'fine,” Tommy answered, wrapping the blankets tighter around his neck. His voice still sounded rough from sleep. “What time is it? You're supposed to be at work.”
“It's a little past seven. I got worried when I didn't get a text from you this morning. Cap let me leave early.”
“Seven?” Tommy looked even more confused by that. He turned and grabbed his phone off the nightstand, shoulders slumping when he confirmed the time. “God, Evan, I'm sorry. I- I didn't know.”
“It's okay,” Buck assured him. “I'm just glad you're not severely injured or dead, like my head decided you were on the way over.”
Tommy smiled softly, holding out his arms for Buck to come lay in.
Happily, Buck pushed the comforter back on his usual side of the bed and laid beside Tommy, resting his head on his chest.
With one of Tommy's hands soothingly rubbing up and down his back, and the other massaging at his scalp, Buck almost allowed himself to be completely at ease.
Almost.
Because he still knew that something was wrong, even if he couldn't quite figure it out yet.
After pressing a kiss to Tommy's pec, Buck asked again, “Are you okay?”
Tommy took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before he answered. “My mom died thirty years ago today,” he admitted.
Buck stilled, then brought his arm to wrap tighter around Tommy's waist. “Oh, Tommy, I- I had no idea.” He leaned up slightly to be able to look at him. “You didn't tell me before, did you? Because-”
“No, no. I don't ever really talk about it, so I'm sure I've never mentioned it.”
Carefully, Buck rolled off of Tommy, lying flat on the bed. He pulled Tommy along with him, having him rest inside his arms instead. “I decided you're the one needing held today,” he said, pressing a kiss to the top of Tommy's head.
Tommy laid on him with his eyes closed, listening to the sound of Buck's heart thumping in his chest. “I don't usually miss her this much,” he said. “I mean, I always miss her, but anniversaries don't usually make it worse.”
“Grief has a way of sneaking up on you when you don't expect it.”
“Yeah,” Tommy agreed. “It's kind of a pain in the ass.”
Buck huffed out a laugh. “Yes, it is.”
“I just... I think about talking to her a lot. Telling her about my life, you know?”
“Mhm.”
“And there's always been updates here and there. She would have hated me being in the army. Would've been worried sick. She would still worry about me as a firefighter, but she would have been proud. But I think,” he paused, snuggling closer to Buck, “I think this is the first time I could've told her all about my personal life, not just the work stuff.”
Buck's hand stilled from where his fingertips had lightly been brushing over Tommy's arm. “Oh yeah?” he asked.
“Yeah. All these years I've just gone over what work accomplishments I could have talked to her about. I didn't even think about that this time.”
Carefully, Buck scooted further down into the bed. He maneuvered them around until they were both on their sides facing one another. He tangled their legs together, and they each slung an arm around the other's waist.
“What would you have said?” Buck asked. “About your life?”
Tommy smiled. “You wanna hear me talk about you?”
“Oh, this life conversation includes me?” Buck replied cheekily. “I guess that's just a plus.”
Tommy stared into Buck's eyes as he thought over his words. “I would've told her that my friend Howie called me one day and asked me for an insane favor. A favor I probably should've thought twice about, but I didn't. And how he showed up with these two other guys who I'd never seen before. Then one of those guys would go on to make me happier than I ever thought possible.”
Even as he teared up, a smile grew on Buck's face. “You mean Eddie, don't you?”
That got a laugh out of Tommy. A big laugh where his eyes closed and his nose scrunched up. “I'd also tell her he always knows how to make me feel better. And he's good to me, and for the first time in my life I feel complete.”
“You do?” Buck asked, eyes going soft.
“I do. I'd tell her that this guy never stops surprising me. How he cares so deeply about everyone around him that I constantly have to remind him that he exists too. How fiercely protective he is. How safe I feel with him.”
Buck fought at blinking his tears away. He cleared his throat. “Do you think your mom would wanna meet me?”
“Oh, I know she'd wanna meet you. She'd be crazy about you.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm.”
“Good. Because I'd like to tell her more about her son.”
“Evan.”
“I'm serious.” Buck brought his hand to Tommy's face, stroking his cheek. “I'd love to tell her what a great job she did raising you. How gentle you are, how loving and patient you are. How you always listen, and you seem to know how I'm feeling before I do. How I- I'd love to spend the rest of my life beside you, if you'd let me.”
Tommy swallowed hard. “Really?”
Buck nodded.
It wasn't a proposal. They didn't even live together yet. But it was a promise. A promise of a future together without an expiration date.
Tommy cradled himself into Buck's arms again. “I love you so much, Evan.”
Buck held him tight, hoping the depth of love he had for Tommy could be felt through his touch. “I love you too, Tommy.”

“You know, I never realized how true the ‘eyes are the windows to your soul’ thing was until I saw yours.” + fluff + cafe AU ; requested by @kiv1!
He’s sure Danny didn’t expect to see him every other day after he casually mentioned that he had gotten a part time job at a local cafe. However, as his friend, it is Duke’s moral duty to only get coffee from that shop while Danny is on shift, specifically to annoy him.
Also, so he can support his friend, but being annoying takes priority.
It’s a routine now, for both of them. Danny clocks in for his shift and an hour later Duke is strolling into the cafe with his eyes locked on Danny’s. The rest of the baristas always shove Danny up to the register when they see Duke, taking over whatever order he was making. Even some of the other regulars turn their attention up to the counter, hoping for another few minutes of entertainment.
Danny sighs as he gets ready to input Duke’s order. It’s never the same one, because Duke would hate to be predictable and make things easier for Danny, but it has the side effect of making him realize that some of the expensive, seasonal drinks are really good.
It’s a bit hard on his wallet, but it’s a price he’s willing to pay for teasing Danny.
“Hey,” he greets cheerfully as he leans against the counter, grinning at Danny.
Danny sighs again. “What can I get you today, random customer that keeps bothering me.”
“A latte, but make it sweet somehow. And iced.”
“What size would you like?”
“Let’s go with medium today.”
“Anything else?”
“Yeah.” Duke leans closer to Danny, watching as he fights down a smile. “I just gotta say that you got gorgeous eyes. You know, I never realized how true the ‘eyes are the window to your soul thing’ was until I saw yours.”
Danny considers this for a moment, then shakes his head. “It kind of sounds like your trying to steal my soul through my eyes.”
“Why is that what your mind goes to?”
“Well. I watched Coraline last night.”
Duke stares at Danny, taking in the dark circles under his eyes. “...Didn’t you say that movie gave you nightmares as a kid?”
“Yeah! And it turns out, it gives me nightmares even now!”
“And ruined my pick up line,” Duke complains playfully.
“It was too cheesy anyways,” Danny replies, putting Duke’s order into the screen. It prints a moment later, no doubt with some bizarre name since Danny refuses to actually name Duke on his orders, and then recites the price.
He pays and watches as Danny slaps the order onto a medium sized up, then tosses it over to the barista making the drinks. He’s not actually sure what her name is since she refuses to wear a name tag, but she always gives him a wave and also a rating of how good his pick up lines are.
“Seven out of ten!” she calls out to him today, then gets started on making his drink.
“I don’t see why you don’t flirt with anyone else,” Danny says, “I’m pretty sure my coworkers like your pick up lines even more than they like me.”
“Why would I want to flirt with them? Danny, I’m literally only here to bother you.”
Danny rolls his eyes. “Yeah, trust me, I know. My good looks just keep pulling in business.”
He says it like a joke, but it’s true. Duke has noticed it. Danny’s coworkers have noticed it. His manager noticed it and now has him out on the floor every shift. If they can get him to work on the chalkboard sign outside, or wipe down the two tables out front, then they do it, because Danny is Midwestern to his core and it’s very charming in a place like Gotham. He smiles at people as they walk by, happily answers their questions when they ask him what the cafe serves, recommends food and drinks for them, is generally a bright and nice person to everyone who comes near the cafe.
His cute looks draw people in, then his personality makes them stay.
It’s all customer service, of course, because Duke never gets the cute, sunny Danny. He’s left with the sarcastic, rude, and funny Danny that’s been his friend since they met in junior year of high school.
“Your eyes are really pretty, though,” Duke says, “Very blue. Sometimes green. It’s no wonder people keep falling for you!”
Danny reaches across the counter to shove Duke away, but he’s blushing, so Duke is counting it as a win. “Shut up. Now you’re just lying. My eyes are never green.”
“Yes, they are. Danny, I’ve seen them multiple times. They’re green sometimes.”
“No? My eyes have literally only ever been blue. They’re the bluest blue to ever blue. They don’t just turn green.”
They squint at each other for a long moment, trying to figure out who’s wrong and in what way. Duke’s pretty sure Danny’s wrong, since he can’t exactly see his own eyes, and Duke has spent an embarrassing amount of time just admiring how nice they are in different kinds of light. But also, they are Danny’s eyes, so he should know what color they are.
Then Danny’s coworker is setting down Duke’s drink on the pick up counter, giving Danny an excuse to get back to work.
“One medium oatmeal cookie iced latte for Cornelius Aggravating Douglas.” He holds up the drink and makes very direct eye contact with Duke, holding out the drink towards him.
“Did you really have to make the initials ‘Cad’?”
“Yes.”
“Fair enough,” Duke says, making Danny crack a smile.
“Are you heading out after this?”
Duke grabs a straw and sticks it into his latte, swirling it around some. “That was the plan, yeah. Got a few library books to pick up. Why?”
“I got approval for a half shift today, so I’m off in like ten minutes, if you wanna wait for me.”
“Hell yeah, dude! I’ll wait outside so I don’t distract you with my flirtatious winks again.”
“Get out of here,” Danny laughs. Duke lifts his drink in a quick toast, then gets out of there. He takes a seat at one of the tables out front, content to just people watch as he slowly sips his latte.
It’s cloudy out, but not raining, which is always a plus. As much as he’d like to see the sun, these kinds of days aren’t so bad, either. The wind still carries a bit of a chill, but the spring is steadily warming things up. There are tons of people out, a constant rush of movement, but a few do catch sight of him, then look towards the cafe, their steps slowing down as they think. Most keep walking, but Duke does manage to get a few to go in just by taking a long sip of his latte to really enjoy it.
Really, he should be getting compensated for the work he’s doing to draw people in. Danny’s not the only one who can do it.
Bruce keeps offering him money, so he doesn’t need to get paid, but maybe he can convince the other employees to talk Danny into accepting one of his pick up lines so they can go on a date one of these days.
It’s become a bit of a joke, but the first time Duke used a cheesy pick up line on Danny, he was being absolutely serious about it. He definitely shouldn’t have used a pick up line he found from a website centered on relationship advice, but he panicked and needed some extra help.
Instead of smoothly asking Danny out on a date, Duke froze up, blurted out the pick up line, then had to laugh it off with Danny and pretend it was a joke.
He still wishes he was able to ask Danny out properly before, but he’s also glad that they got to spend more time as friends, getting to know each other. It’s easier to be with him now, no longer so tongue tied and flustered.
Duke gets to fluster Danny now, which is much better.
And maybe one day his pick up lines will work! Sooner or later Danny’s going to question why he keeps doing this, and then he’ll connect the dots and understand what Duke feels for him.
As it is, he has yet to connect shit.
“My eyes are definitely blue,” Danny says as he walks out of the cafe, messenger bag slung over his shoulder. “I checked while I was putting my apron away.”
“You’re still on that?”
“They’re blue.”
Duke gestures for Danny to come closer. He complies and leans down, letting Duke cup his face in his hands. He checks, considers, then checks again, and says, “They are indeed blue.”
“Told you they weren’t green,” Danny says smugly, pulling back.
“And I said they were green sometimes. Now clearly isn’t one of those times, but they do turn green!”
“I don’t think you should be allowed to say any eye-related pick up lines until you admit that you were wrong and didn’t know my eye color.”
Shaking his head, Duke stands up and pushes in his chair. “Just wait, I’ll catch it sometime and prove it to you.”
“Sure, whatever. Don’t you have library books to get?”
“Yeah, you coming with?”
“Obviously. Why else would I leave my wonderful job where I am left alone to make drinks in peace?” Danny knocks his shoulder against Duke playfully, then reaches over and steals his drink right out of his hand. He takes a sip, makes a pleased hum, and drains half of what was left in the cup.
“Hey!” Duke moves to take it back, which is naturally the exact moment Danny takes off running, effortlessly dodging everyone else on the sidewalk. He takes off after Danny, using his powers to make sure he can move out of the way of anything or anyone who gets in his path.
They’re past the block when Danny starts to slow down, taking another sip of Duke’s latte.
He puts on a final burst of speed and all but tackles Danny into the mouth of an alley, reaching for his cup. “Gotcha!”
“No!” Danny wails dramatically. He takes a step back and Duke watches as his power kicks up again, showing him a vision of Danny stepping on an empty can and falling back. Except he doesn’t really fall back? His foot rolls back on the can for a second, then goes through the can and settles back onto the ground where he catches his balance. Through the entire three second fall, Danny’s eyes are a bright green, brighter than Duke’s ever seen them.
His vision fades away and he moves to catch Danny, taking the chance to watch carefully as Danny’s foot does indeed go through the can. He quickly brings his gaze up to Danny’s eyes, which are green, but not inhumanly bright like they were in his vision.
Is the green not perceptible to normal humans?
He can probably only see it due to his powers. Which means he somewhat inadvertently outed himself as a meta.
Whoops!
Might as well just bite the bullet.
“Hey, do you have powers?”
Danny chokes, shoving Duke away as he coughs and tries to clear his throat. He looks panicked, wild-eyed, searching for an escape route. “What? No. Why would I have powers? Maybe you have powers, have you ever considered that?”
“I mean. I do have powers. That’s why I’m asking.”
“Hold up. Stop talking. You have powers?”
“And your eyes are green sometimes.”
“That’s. No, they’re not,” Danny lies. It’s a very bad lie, seeing how on edge he is, and as much as Duke hates making Danny feel like that, he did get some bad habits while training with Bruce and this is one of them: the need to keep pushing, chasing after clear answers regardless of what the cost is.
Duke shrugs, taking a sip of his latte, down to its last few mouthfuls, acting casual. “If you say so. But my powers don’t lie, man. As much as I wish they would, sometimes.”
“...Can we not do this out here?” The defeated tone Danny speaks with makes Duke hate himself. But he needs answers now. He needs to know if Danny is like him, if he’s safe, if he needs help. He needs it more than he needs Danny to like him at all.
“Sure. I know a few quiet places we can talk.”
“I can’t believe this is happening,” Danny mutters. “Did my eyes really give it away?”
“Yeah. I mean, to be fair, I also didn’t realize until literally right now, so I don’t think anyone else will figure it out just from staring into your eyes.”
“See, this is what happens when you keep flirting when you don’t mean it. Secrets get pulled out into the open and it’s bad for everyone!”
Duke lightly punches Danny’s arm, trying to lift the mood. “Hey, who said I didn’t mean it?”
“What?”
“Who said I didn’t mean it when I flirt with you?”
Danny blinks at him, confused, then says, “I mean, no one I guess. But it’s pretty obvious?”
“I only flirt with you, you know.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah,” Duke says, trying to ignore how his voice shakes slightly. “There’s another one of my secrets. Can we call it even now?”
“Oh!” The shock of the revelation distracts Danny from his earlier nerves. Which is great, because now Duke is the one who’s nervous. It’s worth it, though, seeing the pretty blush come to bloom on Danny’s cheeks. “So all those pick up lines—”
“Yeah.”
“And the pick up line made you realize my powers!”
“These pick up lines are doing the most,” Duke agrees. And then he realizes, “Hey, you what this means? I was right! Your eyes are windows to your soul!”
“I’m going to hit you,” Danny says, already winding back for a solid punch. He lets Danny hit him since it’s only fair for the stress he caused; as a meta, Duke knows how important secrecy is, how the difference between life and death can be just how well his powers are hidden.
“Are we even now?”
Danny considers him for a moment, then sighs. “Yeah, I guess. Let’s be done with this for now, okay? Let’s go to the library.”
He refuses to entertain any conversation about powers or Duke’s feelings for him. It’s nice to spend time with Danny, but by the end, Duke is sure he can feel his heart start to crack in half. A sleepless night awaits him when he gets home, moving past his cousin’s attempts to talk to him in favor of flopping face down onto his bed.
But the next day, Danny grins at him when he walks into the cafe. He doesn’t have a new pick up line, choosing instead to act as calm and casual as possible to give Danny some space.
Also breaking routine, Danny insists on personally making Duke’s drink, writing something onto the cup before he fills it up with a floral tea.
You’re so fine, you made me forget my pick up line, is scrawled on the side of his cup when he gets it.
“Enjoy your drink, Cutiepie the Third,” Danny says with a shy smile.
“The Third?” Duke repeats, relief making him feel lighter than air, “Who are the first two?”
“Don’t worry about it, cutie. Get to class!”
Duke lets Danny chase him out, and holds in his laugh when he hears Danny’s coworker screech, “What was that?!”
Yeah, they’ll be fine. In the meantime, Duke needs to see if apology pick up lines are thing. Danny definitely deserves one.

Machi's Idea #4
The JL can't understand what's wrong. They did their best effort to honor the king of dead and celebrate accordingly with the most strict protocol. Yet the king seems equally dull and annoyed. The JLD knows what's going on but they decided to say nothing in the hopes that this would teach the JL a lesson. Jason tried to explain the situation but none of the "adults" (aka Batman) listened to him so he decided to get his point across by getting into a fist fight with the king. One hour later they are kissing and Jason is explaining to the JL that ghost bond through fighting.

Hiya! I love your writing and I'm so glad to be seeing you on my dash bc I haven't in a while! For your writing revival game, can I suggest:
"Incandescent" and either Ushijima or Osamu?
hi cheesy! 🥹 this is so nice of you to say, thank you 🥹 i've been a bit on and off here and there over the past few months because work has just been so busy 🥺 but i'm glad to be back here too!! thank you for sending in a prompt 🥹
contains: established relationship, halloween outfits, miya dynamics
osamu + incandescent
there are a lot of reasons why atsumu loves you for his brother―you bring osamu food when he barely has time to eat in the shop, and you send picture updates in the group chat you have with the two of them and ma. you also give him your extra onigiri when osamu says he's had too much.
you're there for osamu in times when he can't be, and for that, he's grateful.
this time though, he thinks he might just be indebted to you.
"people're g'na ask ya to sit on me," osamu glances at your costume before staring at the mirror again. from the dining table across the room, atsumu is holding in his laugh, doing his best to keep the water in his mouth.
tonight is onigiri miya's annual halloween party, and you've managed to somehow convince osamu to dress as a burner―red incandescent light and all.
"so i will," you smile sweetly, adjusting the foam handle of your outfit. the theme for the party is: onigiri miya, and truly, what is more essential to the shop than an electric burner and its pan?
from the side of the room, you think atsumu nearly chokes.
"it'll be cute," you step towards him, reaching for the black switch along his hip, "plus, you even light up!"
in an instant, he glows red, the spiral pattern along his chest lighting up like an electric burner heating up. atsumu snorts, erupting into a fit of laughter as he slaps his knee.
"shit," he wipes a tear while holding up his phone camera, "can't wait f'ma to see this."
osamu looks at him from the mirror, deadpan, "yeah, show'er ya shitty dye job too."
because atsumu doesn’t look any better at all, dressed as none other than osamu for halloween―black long sleeves with an apron, a pair of gloves and osamu's actual work pants. the cap on top of his head rests on temporarily dyed jet black hair, but he's done it in such a haste that his blonde roots are still showing.
you laugh, never quite getting used to their antics despite being a witness to it for years. halloween with the twins is always a memory you look back on fondly, and you don't think this year will be any different at all.

29. putting ear over their heart, for steddie 💕
please enjoy some domestic fluff w the barest sprinkling of angst (like a tiny smidgen, barely a paragraph)
---
The apartment was quiet when Steve got in, back from lunch with Robin down at the cafe by her university.
It wasn't the kind of quiet Steve was used to, the kind that lurked in empty hallways. A dreadful, empty sort of quiet that sunk into your bones like water in the lungs of someone drowning.
This was a new sort of quiet: radio playing on the kitchen windowsill, the window by the couch left open with Eddie's ashtray tucked next to the cord for the blinds. Music and voices and engines from the street wafted in on the breeze, immediately dampened when Steve reached up and pulled the window back down with a thud.
It was a lived in sort of quiet. An Eddie's-either-not-home-or-he's-asleep-somewhere quiet.
Considering the window had been left open, Steve was betting on the asleep somewhere option.
Trying to stay quiet, Steve headed down the short hallway and pushed open their bedroom door. The blinds were open, and the bed was half made, the pillows left piled to one side with their cases folded on top like Eddie'd gotten distracted halfway through.
Steve snorted, fond, and stepped back into the hallway.
Their apartment wasn't big- two small bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen/living room combination with enough space for a dining table in between - so it wouldn't be hard to track his boyfriend down.
And it wasn't, Steve found him in the second-bedroom-turned-"office", stretched out in a sunbeam, like one of the stray cats he insisted on feeding.
He had one arm sorta stretched above his head, the other resting on his tummy as he snored into his armpit, guitar and notebook discarded to the side. The vacuum was in there too, and Steve had to step over it to get inside the room.
Apparently, Eddie had made a valiant attempt at cleaning while he'd been gone.
The thing is, when Eddie cleaned, he had to make a whole thing of it- turn it into one of his roleplaying games, with outfits and silly voices, or else he'd never actually get it done.
His usual version of a cleaning costume was to just keep his hair out of his face with a headband made out of a bandanna, folded into the cliched little triangle and all, and a long sleeved shirt so he could dramatically roll up his sleeves.
Today, he'd gone as far as to put on an old apron he'd accidentally stolen from a past job working at a deli. The duster he'd shoved in the front pocket was dangerously close to slipping out, only kept in place by the angle of Eddie's hip.
The thing is- Eddie was, like, a really deep sleeper. And he didn't tend to move much. And he was sort of just lying there, bandanna wrapped around the top of his head, hair splayed out under him, head tilted just enough to show off the long-healed scars in his cheek. And Steve was, much to his own dismay, a worrier.
And it had been a good 3 years since the spring of '86, and he could literally see Eddie's stomach rising and falling with each breath but-
But.
Feeling ridiculous, but knowing he'd just get more and more anxious until it became an actual problem, Steve sighed and carefully lowered himself into a crouch. He reached out, intending to shake Eddie awake, just to make sure he would, but paused as his fingers brushed fabric.
If he'd fallen asleep in the middle of the day, on the floor no less, then he probably needed it.
So, sticking his tongue out in a habit he'd definitely gotten from the man sleeping on the floor right now, Steve carefully moved the duster and the arm laying over Eddie's tummy and threw a leg over his hips.
He knee-walked backwards until he was hovering over his thighs instead, and then carefully laid down on top of him, turning his head so his ear was pressed against Eddie's sternum.
It took a second to settle, for the sound of shifting fabric to stop and then-
thu-thump. thu-thump. thu-thump.
He laid there for a little longer, just listening, just checking, until sun-warmed arms wrapped loosely around his shoulders. Steve didn't know if Eddie was fully awake, but he didn't say anything about waking up to Steve on top of him.
Instead he let out a long, pleased sigh. Dug his fingers into Steve's hair and gently scratched his scalp, movements slow and sleepy.
In a few minutes, Steve would sit up and ask Eddie what he was doing napping on the floor and Eddie will explain that he'd been cleaning, and then he'd gotten an idea for a song and he didn't want to forget it.
Then they'd get up, Steve hauling his boyfriend off the floor with dramatic grunts and groans like men twice their age, and finish cleaning the apartment together.
But for now, Steve just settled in a little more comfortably, listening to Eddie's heart beat.

The hero and the villain is cuddling
Villain held the Hero in their lap, on the bed, in their bedroom. Surprising, I know. They sighed softly, burrying their face in Hero's hair.
"...You've changed me, Hero. You've made me see things differently, made me reconsider my path as a villain. You know, I used to revel in the chaos and destruction, in being the bad guy" Villain spoke lowly, a smile tugged on their face as they looked back on the years.
"But now... now I don't know if I can go back to that. Not when I have you."
The hero tilted their head up to meet Villain's face with a smile. They turn around on the bed so they were meeting Villain's face, placing their hands on Villain's chest.
"Id appreciate if you change your ways for the better but... Honestly? Ill accept anything, from your worst to your best. everything. You could burn the world and I'd still let you in my heart the next day..as much as I hate it" The hero spoke, meetin Villain's sharp green eyes as Hero chuckled.
Hero was laughing, Villain thought. Laughing and smiling and safe in their arms. True genuine happiness, they couldn't believe their luck. Hell, they couldn't believe their fate! It was so far different from when Hero tried to stop him. The fierceness and determined look, not that Villain was complaining, changed to this..vulnurable love.
Villain would be damned before something ever happens to their Hero.

May Prompts (30)
Day 29 here. Start from the beginning here. Day 31 here.
Journey
He looks up the stairs and thinks about the journey that brought him here.
He was always going to end up back at 221b, wasn’t he?
Something Sherlock said yesterday has stuck with him. I wasn’t even in the story until you came along.
And maybe that’s true for the both of them. Maybe the story—the journey—didn’t begin until he climbed these 17 steps for the first time.
No, that’s not quite right. Maybe it began when Mike spotted him in Russel Square.
Maybe it doesn’t really matter when it began at all. Maybe all that matters is that this is where it continues.
He used to see his life in black and white. Right and wrong. Triumphs and regrets. It was a foolish and simplistic way of viewing the world. He finally understands that he is allowed to feel many things at once. He is allowed to remember those early days with Sherlock fondly while still recognizing the period as one where his demons were left to fester and grow. He is allowed to wish Sherlock hadn’t jumped while still recognizing Rosie as a gift and someone he could never live without. He is allowed to feel sorrow that Mary died while simultaneously feeling incredible joy that he has a future with Sherlock.
To ignore the good is to ignore the bad and vice versa. It’s all a part of his story.
He looks down at the box he’s carrying. It’s filled with a random documents and mementos that he didn’t trust to the movers that Mycroft booked (who are all dressed in suits and look suspiciously like agents that must have far better things to be doing). Some of the contents are from this story—Rosie’s birth certificate, his wedding album, newspaper clippings of early cases with Sherlock—but others are from another life. His mother’s favourite necklace, that friendship bracelet Harry gave him when he was 8, his army ID discs and medals.
Rosie bounds into the doorway at the top of stairs. Her face is covered in jam and he can see a glob in her hair. Definitely a bath night. “Coming Daddy?” she asks, but doesn’t wait for answer before disappearing back into the flat. Their flat.
“John?” he hears Sherlock yell. “Errr, there may have been an incident with your toaster. It looks worse than it is.”
Maybe this isn’t the continuation of a story at all. Maybe it’s the start of a new one.
“I’m coming, loves,” he says quietly, even though he knows they can’t hear him.
He takes the first step.

bucktommy: working together on a call, not just working the call separately with their houses but tommy working with buck and the 118
This is kind of a short one, but I wanted to get a prompt finished before I went to bed. Hope you enjoy!
“Fancy meeting you here,” Tommy panted, out of breath as he continued digging through rubble. “Thought everyone was told to evacuate.”
“We were told to evacuate,” Buck informed him. “And yet, here you are.”
He stopped digging long enough to look up at Buck. “Please tell me you have a Halligan with you?”
“Of course I do.” Buck pulled the Halligan out from where it was strapped to the side of his turnouts, handing it over to Tommy. “Where's yours?” He asked as he kneeled across from his boyfriend, beginning to dig right next to where Tommy was now pulling up some pieces of plywood.
“Fell down the elevator shaft.”
Buck glanced up at him. “Do I even wanna ask?”
Tommy shook his head. “No. Listen, Evan, you need to-”
“Don't even start with me, Tommy. I don't know why you're in here, but as long as you're in here, I'm in here.”
Tommy took a deep breath. He thought about arguing, but he knew Evan. Knew there was no point. “I heard a noise,” he explained. "I don't know how far down they are.”
“Then we keep digging.”
The sunlight outside did little to help them see. Smoke filled the room so thick they couldn't see any more than about a foot in front of them.
“About how long do we have?” Tommy asked.
“They said five minutes... six minutes ago.”
“Awesome,” Tommy deadpanned.
Tommy was taking one last sweep of the building when he heard the order to clear the area. Two stories had already collapsed, and the rest of the building was gonna go down at any time. He was just about to confirm that he was heading out when he heard a noise.
A squeak, or a scratch, coming from below the rubble. He'd called out, but gotten no answer.
He was in the middle of convincing himself it was the building itself causing the noises, when he heard it again. Louder this time. Right in the dead center of where there had been a partial collapse.
So, instead of radioing that he was exiting the building, he asked for help on the third floor.
“That's a negative, Kinard,” Captain Fredricks had replied, incident commander at the scene. “You gotta get out of there. Now.”
But he couldn't. He couldn't leave someone behind. He'd think about those noises for the rest of his life. How he left them as they made a final effort to be saved.
So turned his radio down and kept digging.
He should've known Evan would show up in record time.
He also should have known that three others would pop up as well.
Chimney set his equipment down next to Buck. “You guys know I hate not being invited to parties.”
“Cap is distracting Fredricks,” Hen explained. “We've got three minutes, maybe.”
“You ever regret taking these extra ground ops shifts?” Eddie joked, giving Tommy a pat on the back before beginning to pull debris from the area.
“Every single time I do it,” Tommy answered honestly.
“Yeah, but our extra shifts are gonna help us pay for the wedding in cash,” Buck pointed out. Just then, a large portion of what was remaining of the roof fell directly behind them.
“Let's worry about actually getting you to your wedding, Buckaroo,” Chimney said, chomping down on his gum. “Hen, help me out over here?”
“Coming!”
Tommy sighed anxiously. “You guys don't have to be-”
“Shut up!” The rest of the group exclaimed synchronously.
“You should know by now,” Buck grunted as he lifted up a heavy piece of floorboard, “none of us listen well.”
“Yes, well,” Tommy motioned to the space around them, “apparently I don't either.”
Buck smiled. “That's why this works, Babe.”
“I just can't help it if I don't want you to-” Tommy paused abruptly.
“What?” Buck asked. “What is it?”
“I hear something. It's right under here!” They all began moving faster, tearing away at the debris to get closer to the noise.
Finally, they'd made a gap big enough for Tommy to reach his hand down and grab onto- “I got it!” he exclaimed. As Chimney shined a flashlight on him, he pulled his hand up, cradling a black and white kitten.
“Gotta say,” Eddie noted, one hand on his hip, “I expected something slightly more human.”
“There's gotta be more!” Buck reached in next, pulling out one orange and white kitten, then a gray one. Tommy shined a flashlight into the hole and reached in a final time, this time grabbing onto a fully grown gray and white cat.
“All clear,” he announced, just in time for the building to start to rumble in a way that was definitely not good. “Let's get out of here, guys.”
When they got outside, Hen and Chimney both tried to pull the babies away from Buck while the mama cat got some oxygen as she laid on Tommy's laps. She was malnourished, and nursing. It was clear she and the babies hadn't been properly taken care of, if they belonged to anybody at all.
Each time Hen or Chimney tried to take the babies, they'd squeak and squeal until they were returned to Buck.
“I see the rescue was a success,” Bobby said, a smile on his face as he came over to where Tommy and Buck were sitting on a curb. “Are all the patients doing alright?”
“They're good,” Tommy answered, giving the mama some extra pets as she rested in his arms. “All stubborn little fighters, that's for sure.”
“Seems like they know their people,” Bobby quipped.
Buck smiled widely as the kittens climbed up and down his turnouts. “I think we just started a family, Cap.”
Bobby laughed, looking from Buck to Tommy with nothing but fondness in his eyes. “You good with four new fur babies?”
Tommy stared over at Buck, too busy giggling with the kittens to pay Tommy and Bobby any mind. He grinned. “How am I supposed to say no to that?”

My walls are made of my heart (would you still break them gently?)
Two separate buildings, connected by a paper thin wall, brings two people together in an unexpected way. Buck and Tommy are complete strangers, but they're about to get to know each other in ways they couldn't even begin to imagine. There may be a wall between them but the walls around their hearts are about to crumble.
